Just had the most incredible meal at Cardoon Mediterranean, for my friend's birthday! First of all, the service was outstanding! Now, let's get to the food!!! OMG!!! The appetizer I had was Coriander Crusted Lamb Ribs with Tahini (Gluten Free, btw!) WOW!!! DELICIOUS!!!! Next, for my entree, I had the Garlic Rubbed NY Strip Steak. Cooked perfectly, and seasoned beautifully! Loved it! For dessert, I had the Grilled Watermelon and Pineapple with spiced honey and feta. Very refreshing and delicious dessert! Happy that they re-opened. We have eaten at Cardoon (now Anchor Down Dockside). The staff is always friendly and helpful. Food is always great. Just the facts-you do what u want w the info. Went yesterday (Saturday) around 4pm...got a table for 2 without a reservation-anytime after 5ish, I'd probably recommend a resi. Our table was situated so that only one person can see the view of the canal/boats passing, which is unfortunate for the person who's back is to the water (this is a reason one would choose a restaurant on the water). They have potted palm trees on the floor-1 blew over 3 times hitting the table next to us. It didn't happen a 4th time taking my recommendation perhaps removing it to the back. Waited a good 15-20 minutes for an actual waitress to come over and see us for the first time. Suggestion, when the bread is served, it's at that time, give the patrons the utensils/napkin, to butter said bread. The baked clams, while small in size, were excellent. The crab cake also was excellent. The fish tacos also was excellent. The drinks were good, although waited longer than I should've for a second drink. Prices seem fair for a waterfront restaurant, however I didn't leave with a feeling of I got a lot for my buck, mainly because of the rather poor waitress (I say waitress, bc the bread/water filler "kids" we're spot on) service. With that all said, I'll say this, I'd recommend the place and we will go back again for a second chance. read more

Exceeded all expectations. Karen, the bartender mixed up some fantastic cocktails and provided excellent service. The crab cakes and grilled branzino were fantastic. Just had the most awesome lunch on the outside patio under the tent at Anchor Down Dockside in Seaford. We had the hot butter lobster rolls...OMG, amazing! We are pretty much lobster roll experts, having eaten lobster rolls all over Long Island, and these by far were the best. The lobster was so sweet and so fresh...we were almost ready to order a second one to go! I used to go to this particular restaurant when it was Cardoon and although the food that we had was good, and service was pleasant, I find that the menu selection is not as as it once was, it was not as extensive. The hostess said, that they will be closed for the season and that night was the last night they would be serving, maybe next time I'll try the Anchor Down restaurant in Merrick and see how that compares . read more

Went here on a Sunday afternoon- beautiful view of the marina. The inside looks like a traditional sea town restaurant in Europe, reminded me of antiparos. The food was fresh and made simply. You can tell when the product is fresh and well prepped. I enjoyed the branzino and the calamari. Staff was attentive and the restaurant was busy but not overwhelmingly so. I didn't feel rushed at all. Overall enjoyable place for a late lunch or early sunset dinner. read more

This was a cute little Mediterranean place. It is right on the bay and there are surrounding homes facing the restaurant. I ordered the lobster roll and I was not the biggest fan of it. Went for Sunday Brunch and LOVED it. such a nice upgraded waterfront dining experience. The brunch menu has a plethora of options and the bottomless drinks are quite the plus. I loved my lobster roll and boyfriend loved his steak and eggs. The molten brownie sundae dessert is to die for! Only things I'd say is maybe a little music (but perhaps they can't due to neighbors) and our waiter (didn't catch his name) could have been a little more attentive since there weren't really many people there at all but this did not take away from my experience and this restaurant still deserves 5 stars. FINALLY got my butt over to CARDOON in Seaford, and it was worth the wait. I understand the great reviews. Arrived early for some drinks at the bar, extremely nice bartender giving healthy pours. Despite a hopping place, our table was waiting for us at the time of our reservation. Everyone was so nice to us, nothing is a problem. The manager, who saw me a few weeks earlier at Anchor Down (sister restaurant), remembered me, and said hello and ensured another great meal. Even though we were technically late, we were permitted to order off the restaurant week menu. A cozy great place, which is a blast in the summer with the outdoor on the water seating area we saw entering. The Eggplant Meatball appetizer were as awesome as advertised. The Salmon, Filet Mignon were also great. The pours kicked in ..., not sure I remember what the dessert was, but absolutely delicious. Went for our anniversary dinner, the online menu shows Scallops (husband's favorite) but when you're there in person they are now no where to be found on the menu. When you call to make a reservation the machine & online says they are open Mondays (7 days!) well again wrong! Thought by sitting outside we would see the water & feel the breeze...nope. We sat under a tent with all the sides down that was surrounded by a high fence (beautiful evening too). Since the restaurant opened in June my family has been here a total of three times. Given the circumstances from COVID-19 the restaurant and staff make you feel very comfortable to be dining there. The restaurant is laid out appropriately with space between each table and the staff is very friendly and respectful. What a wonderful experience! It's off the beaten path but once you arrive, you won't be sorry. I came here with my mother and three sisters on a Sunday and we had such a lovely time. The weather wasn't great for us to sit in their scenic patio area but from what I see, it would be beautiful on a quiet summer evening. We sat inside -- small but absolute quaint. We ordered a bunch of appetizers to share and two entrees. The chicken wing turned out to be quite the pleasant surprise. I still think about it . Everything was delicious and fresh. We topped the night off with a few shared desserts and it did not disappoint! Service was amazing. The wait staff was very attentive and accommodating. Their food is delicious, and their service is good. Friendly and attentive wait staff. My only issue was, when we initially went to this place when it opened week one, I had the Octopus appetizer. I asked the owner Steve who my wife knows for years, can I make this into an entree instead of ordering two appetizers.. He said SURE, no issue, just ask the waitress next time and we will take care of you. This time when asking the waitress (who was very nice), she stated the chef would make me the entree but at the EXACT same price of the 2 appetizers. That defeated the purpose of me asking for an entree meal. (Steve the owner wasn't present). She agreed the chef was out of line and the manager also came over and agreed to the point that they comped our dessert for my birthday(This was a very nice touch) and I was very appreciative. Our meal consisted of the spicy feta dip for an appetizer, the shrimp, lamb ribs and the arctic char for dinner. ALL were delicious. The lamb ribs were cooked perfectly. I usually look at the menu online before I go anywhere but I got invited by surprise for a date. I show up and was pleasantly surprised at the selection on the menu as well as the snack options for happy hour. I ordered the tzatziki and pita for a snack at the bar with my drink while my date got a drink and oysters. I inquired about the pastitsio as I'm not a huge fan of mushrooms but they assured me they were finely chopped and it wouldn't be unpleasant. I also inquired about the 2 menus I saw as pappardelle was listed on both with sausage ragu on one and I think chicken on the other but they didn't have pappardelle either, they offered another type. It was a little confusing. We were disappointed that the only TV in the restaurant wasn't working. We went to watch the game for happy hour. Oh well, not the end of the world. (Side note: I understand I'm not in Greece or anywhere in Europe but the pronunciation of the words pastitsio and avgolemono by the staff made me chuckle. I hope that they are taught the pronunciation as they are serving in a Mediterranean restaurant) After finishing our snacks we head over to the table which seemed to be missing a leg- it was SO wobbly. One of the waitresses came right over to fix it with some sort of piece to even it out. We then sat for a little bit and our waitress brought over bread. Bread was lacking any kind of flavor it was just blah. (Thank goodness I brought over my leftover tzatziki for dipping). Then for apps I got avgolemono soup and my date got octopus. WOW both bursting with flavor and the texture of the octopus was just right. So thrilled, I couldn't wait to see what else we had in store. I ordered a glass of wine to go with dinner because my drink was empty for quite a bit and there was no ask of refills by the waitress. Then came dinner. I went with the pastisio and he got the NY Strip (ordered medium rare and came pretty rare). The pastisio portion was HUGE easily could have shared. I took one or two bites and noticed it was luke warm. I stuck my finger in the middle and it was ice cold. I understand this dish needs to be made ahead of time but not to the point where it needs to be refrigerated and then barley heated up. I then nicely mentioned to the waitress and she took it back. I was assuming another piece would be given but no, I got the same piece back (finger hole and all) microwaved. That is my assumption as some pieces were piping hot and the some still kind of cool and the ends now like rubbery from the re-heat. Disappointing as I would NEVER expect that from a better restaurant, a chain, maybe... I had a few bites then brought it home to heat myself in the oven. I was planning on getting dessert as I always so but I was sitting around for another 10 minutes with an empty wine glass and I just gave up at that point. The waitress could clearly see that I was annoyed as she commented "whats wrong with you two?" (in a joking matter) but still, if you notice I seem unhappy and barley ate, why not offer assistance? I hope my experience was more of a one time thing as the other dishes were great! P.S. When I got home and reheated the dish (IN THE OVEN) it was delicious. Little too much cinnamon for my liking but definitely tasty. read more

Stumbled upon Cardoon by accident!! Had a large party (10 people) in celebration of the ol lady's birthday.. Staff was wonderful and attentive.. i wish there were more than 5 stars to rate the food!! Everyone raved about their plates- I had the salmon entree and the balance of flavors (cherries, pistachio, pomegranate molasses) was unreal!! (Killer tzatziki too..) I can't wait to come back to try more menu items.. The grilled branzino filet with tomato pancetta relish is next for me!! If you're in the area, definitely stop by.. I ordered the lamb porterhouse, may as well have been oxtail that's how much meat was on the steaks, amd one of the steaks not only smelled spoiled it tasted spoiled, the fall veggies were merely grilled not seasoned or seared. Overpriced, too packed, plastic unsteady chairs that were scraping my legs....you need to do better. We arrived at the restaurant just before 7 and were told that they were sorry but were not honoring any reservation because they had a large private family party. This Place is small and clean however, went for lunch and the only table that was available outside had just had the umbrella blown off into the crowd due to the wind gusts and was broken so we had to sit in the sun. However, service was extremely extremely slow. It took forever just to get a waitress to order A drink, not to mention appetizers. But Because the wait staff was slow the paper plates that they used were not cleaned off in enough time and ended up flying off our table with the leftover food still on it and right into people across from us that were eating. My leftover salad went all over her arm , Into her food and onto the floor. My husband had to ask the waitstaff inside to bring her napkins which again ..took way more than it should given the situation. They did offer her dessert which she declined we also offered a round of drinks which was declined. The point, they saw the umbrella fly out of the table prior to our arrival into the crowd they should have known the wind was fierce and been way more attentive to the tables along the dock. I feel horrible For the fact that my leftover salad blew away on to someone else and I should not have made to have felt guilty after my lunch ...had the wait staff been more attentive to the situation outside. We had dinner here tonight and it was excellent. For appetizers we had the octopus appetizer and the kale and faro salad and both were delicious! Main course of branzino and chick pea coated salmon were very good too and they were prepared perfectly. Came here last weekend on one of the hottest days so far this summer. We got here around 8pm and were seated immediately. We loved the outdoor seating. The service was great! My husband and I both had the Moscow Mule and it was excellent. Perfect for the weather! We also had the octopus appetizer and crab croquet which I had not one complaint about. The only complaint was I didn't have space in my belly to finish the amazing branzino entrée. The skin on the fillet was grilled to perfection! It was so fresh and flavorful.
