I had the strawberry mojito drink, and it was fantastic, really tasting of fresh fruit with many mint leaves inside. The khachapuri was extraordinary. They do imeruli style, round and similar to a pizza, the crust beautifully blistered and the cheese thick with a wonderful pull. One of my friends hadn't had khachapuri before and is now a convert. We also had boso lagman, with hand-pulled noodles and beef, and big manty dumplings with flavorful meatballs inside. I requested we get a slice of honey cake, too, and that was a perfect finish to the meal. Sweet but not overkill, and really tasted like honey, graham crackers, and cream. I'm not sure when I will possibly be in this area again, but wow, I would come here again.

The food was superb! Waiting for high quality and freshly made food is worth every bite. I will say we highly recommend the eggplant salad, strawberry ginger tea, and the honey cake! The eggplant salad is perfectly cooked with a crispy exterior and what we would call a flavor bomb of a sauce! The service was great our waiter Alybek knew the entire menu and offered recommendations. We really could tell how much he loved the food as well! The ambiance was great really make us feel like we were in a different world once we entered and sat down. Overall, Karavan Restauant is worth a visit as the food, service and ambiance are unlike any other central Asian/European food in the Chicagoland area. You won't be disappointed!

Upon entering, the menu looks a little intimidating. From burgers to hot chix sandwiches, to tenders, loaded nachos, loaded fries, and even Bubble tea. Sometimes a big menu at a fast casual spot can be a bad sign, just trying to do too much. The good news is that the staff member patiently took us through the menu and asked us what we liked, and what heat level we were comfortable with. Between us we got a hot chix sandwich, chicken tenders, seasoned fries, and where else could you get chicken and waffles in the middle of the day? First off, there are a number of sauces to choose from. And the fries came out crispy and well seasoned. Both good signs. But most importantly, the star of the show just has to be the chicken. Specifically that unique Nashville style of chicken with that unique Nashville cayenne-based seasoning. Ok...so the chicken tasted incredibly fresh, it was thick, juicy, and meaty. There was no way it spent any time under a heat lamp. The spice level at a medium worked for me. A slight glisten of sweat on the ol' forehead. The flavor was there, keeping in mind this isn't a drown your chicken into a pit of bbq sauce type of place. It's a dry rub Nashville heat. So be mindful of that. I am used to Nashville chicken having an oily finish, but this didn't have that (which didn't bother me). The place appeared 5 stars clean. The service was 5 star fantastic. And the food was 100% fresh tasting. Technically, I give it 4-1/2 stars for two reasons. A half star off only because they really are missing a drink station with a sweet and non-sweet tea option for some authenticity. Also because the sauces didn't "Wow" anybody. And sauces that punch you in the mouth can really make a place stand out. But I'm pushing out 5 stars because of the service, the cleanliness, and the freshness.
