Tucked away in the back of a small strip mall, this place would be missed unless you were actively looking for it. Me and my teenage boys just happened to be in the area looking for fried chicken sandwiches. We saw a Chik-Fil-A nearby but thought, "hell, let's try something new." Yelp took us to Nash Bros. Upon entering, the menu looks a little intimidating. From burgers to hot chix sandwiches, to tenders, loaded nachos, loaded fries, and even Bubble tea. Sometimes a big menu at a fast casual spot can be a bad sign, just trying to do too much. The good news is that the staff member patiently took us through the menu and asked us what we liked, and what heat level we were comfortable with. Between us we got a hot chix sandwich, chicken tenders, seasoned fries, and where else could you get chicken and waffles in the middle of the day? First off, there are a number of sauces to choose from. And the fries came out crispy and well seasoned. Both good signs. But most importantly, the star of the show just has to be the chicken. Specifically that unique Nashville style of chicken with that unique Nashville cayenne-based seasoning. Ok...so the chicken tasted incredibly fresh, it was thick, juicy, and meaty. There was no way it spent any time under a heat lamp. The spice level at a medium worked for me. A slight glisten of sweat on the ol' forehead. The flavor was there, keeping in mind this isn't a drown your chicken into a pit of bbq sauce type of place. It's a dry rub Nashville heat. So be mindful of that. I am used to Nashville chicken having an oily finish, but this didn't have that (which didn't bother me). The place appeared 5 stars clean. The service was 5 star fantastic. And the food was 100% fresh tasting. Technically, I give it 4-1/2 stars for two reasons. A half star off only because they really are missing a drink station with a sweet and non-sweet tea option for some authenticity. Also because the sauces didn't "Wow" anybody. And sauces that punch you in the mouth can really make a place stand out. But I'm pushing out 5 stars because of the service, the cleanliness, and the freshness. I checked out this restaurant for the first time recently as we were in the area and wanted to grab dinner. So we decided to give Nash Bros a try. We got here about 30 minutes before closing time. The restaurant was somewhat busy w/ dine-in and carry-out orders. I ordered their original Nashville Hot fried chicken sandwich made Xtra Hot based on their heat level offerings (which was the highest heat level) and my wife ordered their Honey Butter fried chicken sandwich with mild heat level. I also got their House Fries that were seasoned crinkle cut fries. We asked for cups of water but were told that they were out of cups, so either buy water or can of pop. They did not have fountain drinks. The food came out shortly. My etra hot sandwich tray was tagged as 'Hot' w/ three symbols. I asked them if that meant the sandwich was just 'Hot' and not 'Xtra Hot' and I was told that if I ordered extra hot then it meant it was extra hot. My sandwich was really delicious. The flavor was good and the texture was nice. The Xtra Hot flavor was not overwhelming but also it did not seem like the extra hot they said I should be mindful of because it was going to be very spicy. My sandwich was decently crunchy and the pickles and coleslaw had a tad bit of sweetness that went well with the heat of the fried chicken. The Brioche bun was well toasted. The fried chicken patty was decent in size. The Honey Butter fried chicken was a major letdown. It's a sandwich in Brioche bun w/ fried chicken and only spicy honey butter (no pickles or slaw). The bun and the fried chicken were drenched in melted butter but there was no taste of sweet heat or just sweet honey. The fried chicken patty didn't have any flavor either. We mentioned it to the staff members and they apologized for the way it turned out for us. The crinkle cut fries were okay. They were soft and unevenly seasoned. The seasoning was decent in taste. Overall, we had a decent experience. The service was okay. My original Nashville hot chicken was delicious but the Honey Butter chicken sandwich was anything but delicious. The restaurant aesthetics were decent. They have a live band performance area. It's a nice, friendly restaurant with a decent menu variety. We weren't wowed by the food but I would say that the original Nashville Hot fried chicken sandwich was worth trying. read more

One thing is for sure: a return visit is in the cards within a couple weeks. As soon as the soda machine (for the water cups!) is installed, and the Hot Chicken Shawarma Wrap makes a comeback. In the meantime, I ordered a Hot Chick (medium heat), with a side of fries, some extra pickles, and the garlic sauce to make my Slavic heart happy. The food came out fresh from the bubbling oil, it could be handled without burns, but clearly spent no time under a lamp. Both the chicken and the fries were fried to a delectable crunch. No twice-fried-as-an-excuse here, genuinely well done. My only note is that it feels as though the fries and chicken *may* have spent an extra 15 seconds in the fryer. While the innards were tender, it felt as though a tinge of moisture was sacrificed without need. The fries were seasoned perfectly, and other than the usual delight of dipping them into everything on the plate, they were perfect as they were. Fantastic amount too, not the starch overload of Five Guys, but not a skimpy serving either. The chicken sandwich was the real star. The medium contained some proper spice without having smoke come out the ears. It was well sauced, and had a great hit of acid from the pickles. Out of left field came the slaw: I was not expecting to like this to the point of almost leaving it out. However, it was fresh, felt homemade, and wasn't a mayonnaise bomb. Would order the again without complaints or reservations. I also had a chance to try their house-made lemonade. I appreciate that they use zero-calorie sweetener to cut down on sugars. However, it came out too sweet for my liking. It would be helpful to have options of level and type of sweet. Final notes: The server behind the counter was very welcoming and friendly, and the food came out in a reasonable time frame considering how fresh everything was. Final verdict: A case where I say it's a good thing Nash Bros is a little bit of a hike, otherwise I might visit too much for my health. The chop cheese sandwich was really good -- hot and super filling. Honestly, I was surprised how empty it was because they have a ton of options on the menu. Only downside was the service. The clerk told us to use the kiosk right away with no greeting, which felt a little cold. The sandwich was $13 and worth it, but it would've been nice if fries were included. I took a bite and some hot (def #1) oil or liquid squirted and burned my cheek (face). Ow! I was glad the sauce was on the side. Though mild, I still found it very hot (def #2). I got coleslaw and cheese on there, not gonna lie I was a little disappointed that they put a cold piece of cheese on my chicken sandwich (I Don't recommend cheese, doesn't add anything to the sandwich No taste waste of money) but other than that, the flavors were good chicken was tender and juice and paired really well with the coleslaw and a very soft brioche bun witch was nice. Came here on a Wednesday evening. Doesn't seem that busy. Walking in there's a sign that said "hot chicks inside" which made me laugh. Surprised me with the country music playing. Their menu is pretty simple. The spice level ranges from naked no seasoning to xtra hot. I got the regular (there's a Chicago style with giardinera) hot chicken sandwich with medium spice. I love spicy but didn't want to go too crazy my first time here with the spice and not be able to try and enjoy the sandwich for what it is. The spice was there and didn't over power it. I'd be willing to try the next spice level up next time. The combo of the crispy chicken and the coleslaw and the brioche bun, hit the spot. Also got the house fries with cheese sauce. I'm guessing this quirky place was a bar at one time. I fact, there's a drum set on a raised stage in front of the window. The quirky interior is all black and red. The gentleman at the bar, er, I mean register was polite and just a wee bit quirky himself. Menu prices aren't quirky, but they are pretty good. I had a Chicago Style Hot Chick sandwich. It was a fresh chicken breast on a toasted brioche bun with hot giardiniera. Very good. My fiance had a Side Chick slider, a chicken tender on a toasted brioche hot dog bun. She wimped out and got the mild sauce. She really liked the coleslaw on it too. Their crinkle fries were fairly crispy and well seasoned. The staff and customers were almost all Indian. Have been eyeing this spot for awhile. Right nearby the house and figured today was a great day to give it a shot. Was driving with the husband trying to decide where to eat when we noticed the new sign for Nash Bros and decided to check them out. Theie menu is pretty simple, you have the hot chicken sandwich, you have the hot chicken tenders, and you have the combo that comes with one of the above, fries and a drink. They were out of tenders by the time we got there so sandwiches it was! We did combos which came with mildly seasoned crinkle cut fries and a glass bottled drink. We had our doggo in the car so we had to take it to go. Omg sandwich was mouthwatering, so juicy and tender. Huge piece of chicken with a thick crunchy breading, slaw, on a soft pillowy bun. And you really can't got wrong with crinkle cut fries so it was a delicious and very satisfying meal. I placed an online order on a weekday afternoon and there was only one table occupied at the time. My food wasn't ready when I arrived but I only needed to wait an extra ~5 minutes. Hubby and I both had the hot chick (brioche bun, fried chicken, coleslaw, pickles, nash sauce). I skimmed through the reviews and some of them mentioned that it is spicier than expected so I decided to go with a mild spice level and hubby went with naked but with seasoning. They were both much spicier than we anticipated. I normally enjoy eating spicy food and typically get my food medium hot to be able to eat comfortably. The chicken sandwich was good but their mild spice level is probably the equivalent of what I'm used to eating for medium spice level. Hubby cannot eat spicy food and even the naked chicken sandwich with seasoning was too spicy for him (lol). We also shared a side of cheese fries. The fries were seasoned well and the cheese also had a kick to it (which I enjoyed but hubby probably didn't). Mind you, I tried all the classic spots: Hattie B's, Prince's, etc., and never in a million years would I have thought my favorite hot chicken meal would be right here in Niles IL. We ordered the mild chicken tenders - the chicken was juicy and tender, while the breading was nice and crunchy. One thing I do have to note here, however, is although we ordered the mild - it was spicer than what I expected it to be. Nevertheless, the flavor and texture was outstanding all around.
