My girlfriend and I happened to stumble upon Karachi Chatkhara while we were on a walk looking for a place to have dinner. They were holding a service for Ramadan and we went in to see if we were still allowed to dine in. Very soon upon entering, we were greeted with a warm, hospitable welcome where we were told they were currently only serving the buffet option for dinner (I think it runs for a couple hours before they go back to their regular menu options). We ended up giving it a shot and glad we did because it was a great opportunity to try many of the dishes they offer in the restaurant. Everything we had was very delicious and I would definitely return to eat here again. Looking around, you can see spaces of the restaurant preserved for religious prayer if needed. Karachi Chatkhara is a newer Pakistani Restaurant that been open about 4 months in this area. It's right on Golf Road in a strip mall and very easy to get to with plenty of parking and no hassles like on Devon! It's a nice family run establishment with the food being halal freshly made daily and offering a huge variety of authentic Pakistani cuisine. Qiswa, her mom, dad and brother provide a nice clean peaceful dining experience. They even have a separate private prayer area too. We tried the Chicken Karahi and the Tandoori Chicken. Both were excellent! The Karahi was seasoned perfectly, not overly spiced, served hot with really fluffy naans. The tandoori chicken was boneless and burst with fresh flavors served with a very unique tasty homemade chutney. I like that the chicken had a nice char taste and was still moist and in bite size pieces. We ended our meal with piping hot chai and in-house made rubri kheer which was excellent. It wasn't overly sweet and had a very nice smooth and creamy texture. The food was so good that we ordered a carryout of puri halwa to have in the morning. The puri halwa was nicely packed and I like they put the chaana (garbanzo beans) and aloo bhujia (potato) separate as each has its own unique taste perfectly made! Karachi Chatkhara is a really nice place to have party events too as they also offer a separate banquet room and do catering. This is a perfect place to have a delicious tasty Pakistani meal in the Northwest suburbs and not have to drive all the way to Devon! We came in for our first try of Pakistani cuisine and it was fabulous. All the dishes were delicious--especially the Biriyani, which was spiced perfectly, a nice bite, but not too hot. We also enjoyed the Chicken Makhni Kofta and the daal as well as a couple other meals and side dishes I can't recall. The portions were generous--enough for leftovers which held up for the next day's lunch. The host was very friendly and helpful, totally patient with people who were not familiar with the dishes. The whole meal was a feast, that felt totally authentic and we really enjoyed the casual atmosphere with greenery, a water feature, and what I assumed was a prayer area. 5 star experience all the way around. read more

We ordered from Karachi Chatkhara while visiting my parents. We planned to go to Devon but didn't want to drive all the way there from the suburbs. This place as close by. The nihari and chicken karahi were some of the best I have ever had! The flavors were authentic, and the food was so fresh. We will 100% be ordering from here again. Okay, I have the most unfortunate update. We went back to this place after a few months and their quality has crashed significantly. The food was unevenly seasoned and tasted stale. They had a large party and were unable to keep up with other customers. I saw a gentleman from the table beside us repeatedly go and get napkins, water, etc. Mom and Pop stores often fall victim to this because they don't have solid processes. We ordered chicken biryani, goat Paya, Karachi Chana daal, and naan. Every item was amazingly delicious. I have an Afghan friend who makes me homemade chicken biryani, and the dish at this place's is similarly flavorful if not even better! I was much impressed with the daal, it goes so well with naan. It's literarily finger-licking good if you eat it with your hands. Goat paya may be an acquired taste to many, but look up the nutritious value of this yummy soup and give it a try! Such a great restaurant. Amazing food, reasonable prices, HUGE portions. Everyone in our 20 person group loved it. Highlights are the nihari and the mango lassi. Went to try this place after seeing all the advertising and rave. Went around the time they had opened one afternoon. Ordered Dahi Puris, Paani Puris, Chaat Papri, Bihari roll and Falsa juice. Place is nice simple but does the job. Friendly service. I was told they had no Bihari kabab that day so I switch to the malai roll. Both dahi and pani puri was solid. Chaat was excellent! Falsa juice was not good. Now for the malai chicken roll, huge disappointment, the paratha was so tough and chewy. I was shocked. I don't think it was made that day. It felt like they warmed up a paratha from the day prior. My teeth actually hurt while I was trying to yank it to be able to eat it. Malai chicken wasn't soft like malai nor did it have any flavor. So frustrating! The imli chutney was too sour. It needs some fixing for sure. Is it authentic Karachi style, 6/10. However, I am going to give them another try and taste their other popular dishes. If they do well for my palette I will change the review. A place with potential...if and when it delivers. read more
