Not every woman is a beauty connoisseur. I, for one, like beauty products, makeup, facials, and eyebrows, but have never obsessed over them. I used to be perfectly fine with hitting up the local mall and getting my eyebrows threaded at a pop up booth. Sure, my eyebrows weren't savage bushes on my forehead, but they also weren't JLO or Kim Kardashian worthy. On the other hand, my best friend was obsessed with eyebrows. She went to Anastasia to get her brows beautifully groomed. I was NEVER a believer in paying an additional $30 or more to get my brows done. After all, my eyebrow threading at the mall cost me a whopping $10! One day, while shopping at Sephora during my lunch break, I ran into an Anastasia rep and she sat me down for an eyebrow consultation. She showed me how to use the Anastasia stencils and colored in my eyebrows. What a difference! My eyebrows are not thick, nor are they dark, and the Anastasia rep showed me how to make my eyebrows pop without looking like a Mexican Chola from East L.A. I was so pleasantly surprised with my eyebrows that I called my best friend to tell her that I now believed in the power of eyebrows and wanted to get my eyebrows waxed at the Anastasia Brow Studios. I decided to let my eyebrows grow out until those critters became furry! I finally went into Anastasia Brow Studios and Rebecca did a PHENOMENAL job on my eyebrows. I loved how she walked me through the Anastasia eyebrow measuring process and the appropriate length/shape for my face based on my bone structure. Kudos to Anastasia for nailing the perfect shape for my eyebrows! For the first time in my life, my eyebrows were mirror images of one another, beautiful, and amazing! Needless to say, I now believe in the power of beautiful eyebrows. Thanks to Anastasia, I will never be going to another mall for an eyebrow threading! Oh and Rebecca, thanks for turning me into an eyebrow loyalist. I can now say that my eyebrows are as fabulous as any celebrity's! Take a chance on brows! I know it's already been said a zillion times, but Becky is the best! I scheduled an appointment after reading other reviews on Yelp, and I wasn't disappointed. After years of swearing off waxing and threading due to bad experiences, I was tweezing my own brows but never happy with the results. Unfortunately I am not blessed with beautiful, full brows, and decided to seek out a professional to teach me the basics of filling in my brows. Needless to say, Becky equipped me with everything I needed. She explained how to measure my natural shape and the places I should let regrow. She also showed me a very natural, fool-proof way to fill in the sparse areas. I walked away in LOVE with my new eyebrows. Despite the fact that $30 is more than I've ever paid for my eyebrows, I think the 30 minutes Becky spent explaining/working make it totally worth it. I also walked away with the basic brow kit, now that I'm confident enough to try it myself at home. After promising Becky I wouldn't pluck until my next appointment in a month, I was on my way. This is more than just a waxing - it's a total brow experience. The staff is knowledgable in shapes and sizes and gave me great tips on a new shape to try that might fit my face better. They are a little pushy with products to purchase. Also, this is not cheap, but I think it's worth the price. read more

I have to admit I'm a HUGE Yelp user but have never contributed a review. I had been traveling for a month and ended my vacation in Chicago. Was completely desperate to do my eyebrows (I've been going to Anastasia in BH for 14 years). Of course went to YELP found that Anastasia had a salon at Nordstrom - called and booked my appt. FABULOUS fabulous job. Great studio, staff was lovely, highly recommend. Do yourself a favor and go see the lovely Becky ASAP. She works wonders. She perfectly plots out where your brows should start, end and arch. They even have a simple topical treatment you brush on to get your brows to grow back where they have been over-tweezed. I always thought having nice brows was a lost cause for me. Even when I would wax or thread I was always unhappy with the results, leading me to take matters into my own hands (terrible idea). When I came to Becky, she was honest about it taking time to get to my perfect shape, but it flew by and is SO worth it. For the first time in my life I LOVE my brows. She is so sweet and patient and shows you how to color them in (sounded intimidating) so it looks perfectly natural. What a difference. Plus- Becky is a total blast. Going to get your brows done is like a hangout with an awesome girlfriend. She cracks me up and I always look forward to catching up during my appointments. read more

I went here once before as a walk in and they did an amazing job on my brows before my wedding. I had no idea this was a by appointment only place and so I went in again as a walk-in. One girl was doing brows the other was diligently texting on her phone and not looking up. Completely rude. The other girl who was with a client greeted me instead. I was told there was no appointments available. Well if that's the case then act like you are working and not making plans for a Friday on your phone because the girl seemed entirely available to do a wax that takes 15 minutes. It's really quite unfortunate that I can't review Anastasia for the quality of their eyebrow threading service because I was not even able to get in for an appointment because of their lack of quality customer service. First, you cannot actually talk directly to someone on the phone. You have to call, leave a voicemail and then wait several hours to get a phone call back. Two weeks ago, I left a message right at 10am when they were supposedly "open". I did not receive a call back until the afternoon at which point I had already gone to another establishment. I decided to give Anastasia another shot, today. Once again, I diligently called and left a message at 12:30pm. I did not hear back. I called again at 2:00pm. I did not hear back. I went to a meeting and stepped away from my phone and upon return, had three missed calls from them all within the same four-minute time frame. I'm not quite sure how that was supposed to be effective. I called them back at 2:55pm and left yet another message, only to get a call from them at 4:12 pm telling me that all of the appointments were, unsurprisingly, full for the day. The girl on the phone was obligatorily apologetic but more so defensive. She did not try to accommodate my request for an appointment nor offer me any future discounted or free service in a last attempt to keep me as a customer. It really is a shame because I had read such good reviews on their eyebrow service. But in today's world of competitive markets, it doesn't matter how good your service is, if I can't even get an appointment. My suggestion? Go to The Threading Salon on Taylor St. or Threading Plus on Plymouth Ct. The ladies are lovely; their customer service is impeccable, and their eyebrow threads are always on point. read more

I grew up getting my eyebrows done at the real Anastasia in BH, so perhaps my expectations are of the brand are higher than other reviewers'. My esthetician at Anastasia BH always took at least 20 minutes with my brows, keeping them full, and minimally waxing (much of the work was done with tweezers). She never, never used a stencil--that's what she would suggest for amateurs to use at home. I never trusted anyone else to do my eyebrows... but was delighted to discover an Anastasia in Chicago on Yelp! I was disappointed to discover, however, that Anastasia now slaps her name on sub-par services to make a buck. I showed up for my appointment with Becky and was surprised when she pulled out a stencil... I made clear my desire to keep my eyebrows full--they are naturally pretty well-shaped, and generally just need some contouring of the arch. So I was surprised when the mirror was lifted and my eyebrows were thin. Becky's response was that she had used the thickest stencil (nevermind that her own brows were substantially thicker than that stencil). So... if you want full eyebrows, don't let someone near them with a stencil like some sort of wayward kindergardener. I was also surprised to see that my left eyebrow was noticeably thinner than my right eyebrow. As in, the first friend I saw that afternoon commented on the difference. Pretty sure symmetry's a basic expectation when you get your eyebrows done. So now I'm praying that my eyebrows grow back... and maybe picking up some birth control pills. That's a tip from the real Anastasia--when someone wreaks havoc on your brows, a thick paste of birth control pills and water can help prevent the damage from being permanent. Let's hope. read more

Great eyebrows but a not so great experience. I walked into Nordstrom today in desperate need of an eyebrow wax. I had seen the Anastasia booth previously and immediately ran over to them. I was told they were booked up but if her appointment did not show up in 10 minutes then I was in. Fab, I made a stakeout in jewelry for the next 10 minutes until I got the call, her other client was a no-show, and ran back over. I like that the measurements were done and they were precise and pre-planned. It gives me anxiety when estheticians just start plucking and waxing willy nilly. Thats how I got my somewhat over plucked brows now in the first place. While I was quite pleased with my eyebrows, at $30.00 even, I was not so happy with the very generic speech I got from Rebecca. She told me about some brow serum and "we'd have you back on track to fuller brows in no time, don't worry".....everything she said just sounded very rehearsed, not tailored to me. She also repeated herself quite a bit. Another thing was that I had just gotten a hair cut and blowout 10 minutes prior to coming in here. She dripped wax into my hair a couple times and put some greasy pomade in it to remove it. If she was more careful in the first place that wouldn't happen....I mean what if it dripped and burned my forehead? It left strands of hair greasy and disgusting. I could not believe she thought that was okay. When I seemed irritated she did apologize though. She checked me out and asked if I wanted to book for next time, I declined just because of the above. I appreciate people who do good work and who are sweet, but I don't appreciate professionals who are trained, by 2 companies mind you, and don't know how to properly tailor a pitch to each customer. read more

I usually spend $9 getting my eyebrows threaded so $30 did seem pricey to me but I was willing to try it out. I had been growing my eyebrows out for a few weeks since they had gotten so thin. I have to say waxing doesn't even hurt AT ALL in comparison to threading. I wasn't blown away by the service though. Firstly, I waited 15 minutes past my appointment time to get taken care of. Next, I just don't think my eyebrows look that great. I am willing to give it another try and see how my eyebrows grow out since I have some sparse spots. I likely would try the Oak Brook location since it's more convenient. I would say, she took her time and really analyzed my eyebrows/face. read more

Wow! My brows have never looked so good! Rena is amazing. She did both my 13 year old daughter and my brows. Our brows both look amazing. This was my daughter's first eyebrow wax. I can't believe what a difference it made. She's on cloud nine and can't stop looking at them. Rena was also super friendly and helped recommend the right eyebrow pencils and sealer. Not sure what's with the two one star reviews - if you were unhappy the first two times, why did you keep going...especially if you considered your eyebrows ruined? Either way, ABH @ Nordstrom is constantly extremely booked - you will absolutely need to call ahead. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G-L-Y talented and super sweet! That is how you can describe Jen. The appointment lasts about a half hour. You will lay down in a typical chair (like one you'd get a facial in) and Jen will go to work. I have NEVER had my brows done by a more attentive and skilled person. She will look at you from above, straight on and from the sides as she's working to make sure your brows look PERFECT. She will use powder and stencils to assure the most accurate and fitting shape as she works. My brows have NEVER EVER looked better. They look identical (which is impossible because no two brows are the same but they seriously do!). I feel like I have found the brow guru of Illinois - probably in the world! I cannot say again how wonderful she is! I am very, VERY picky about who I let touch my hair, skin, and brows - I can assure you that Jen is the very best. read more

Unimpressed... The girls were SUPER PUSHY trying to make me buy all of the products. Sloppy, and stupid. She repeated herself constantly trying to recite obviously rehearsed lines about some brow serum she wanted me to buy. Then proceeded to drip wax on my eyelashes and coat which hurt like hell. It's too bad because I live across the street from Nordstroms and this is super convenient BUT $30 for eyebrow waxing and is tough to get an appointment, esp on weekends. This was my second time there, both times, they lay you down on a chair where your head is lower than the rest of your body (maybe b/c the aesthetician was short?) but she spun the chair so much (mind you I had my eyes closed most of the time) that I left there dizzy with a bad headache for the rest of the day. Honestly, I've paid $12 at salons and gotten just as good of a wax. Don't believe the hype. read more

I am sorry I haven't written a review earlier. But that said, I am not sure I should write a review because if people find out about Jen, then I may never be able to get an eyebrow appointment again. And that just won't do. Let me just start by saying that people constantly stop me and say, "Oh my god, your eyebrows are AMAZING." And when I say "people", I mean other women. Like a guy would notice. I've been getting my eyebrows plucked, waxed, sculpted, whatever for 15+ years and I've had my share of compliments on my eyebrows - I mean, who hasn't - but the passion with which women now share their love of my eyebrows - well, it's unprecedented. Like they say things in the middle of work meetings. Or while having lunch. Or with weird wall posts on my Facebook. And I must say that I think they look pretty awesome. Especially since Jen somehow created an arch where there was naught. So yes, go to Nordstrom and get your brows done in the middle of the beauty dept. Note that the only scheduling system they really have right now is VOICEMAIL (wtf? Is this 1998?), so leave a message with multiple times/day available so Jen can put you in. And then when you get them done, be sure to book your next appointment RIGHT THEN. Otherwise you'll be one of those lame girls who realizes she has tiny brow bushes right before some big date,and then try to fit yourself in on a Friday afternoon right before and you will NOT get in because all the smart bushy eyebrowed women had already booked weeks in advance. I love Nordstrom but I'm really disappointed with my Anastasia brow bar experience. This was my second time there and while they do a great job with brows, I count on Nordstrom to have fantastic customer service. They have always come through for me - but this does not seem to carry over to everyone in their store. I made an appointment and drove downtown in terrible weather to get there. Stuck in traffic I called ahead to let them know I would be late. I ended up being 15 minutes late and when I arrived I stood there and no one greeted me for 10 minutes. When they finally acknowledged me she said she could no longer get me in. They rush people in and out of here and don't prioritize appointments which is extremely frustrating for people who made appointments one month earlier. I pride myself on not being late, but when I am I always call ahead to make sure I am respectful of their time. The phone is never answered, and my call was not returned. I'm just disappointed they didn't do more to keep me as a customer. I would expect this from other places but not from Nordstrom. read more

I had an amazing experience with Paulette. I was preparing for a job interview and had to get my crazy brows done as they were overgrown and ridiculous. Paulette was ready right at my appointment time, no waiting! She was not only HILARIOUS but listened to what I wanted and gave me a great shape while still keeping them full! She even gave me tips for my interview after I told her how nervous I was. She told me to be myself and they will like me. I got the job by listening to her advice. She is a motivator and a great esthetician. My step mom is an esthetician, and even though I can get my brows done for free from her I think I prefer Paulette!! I will definitely be a loyal customer. I stopped by here on a whim when I was out in Chicago for work, and had Ana. She was wonderful, I don't think my eyebrows have ever looked better. This was my first time going to an Anastasia Brow Bar and I loved it! Ana was very sweet, and took her time and showed me how to properly fill in my eyebrows. Would love to go back and visit next time I am in Chicago! For the best and most precise brows in town I go to Nordstrom around Chicagoland to the Anastasia Brow Studio to get my brows done. I have been to all of the 4 locations in Chicago and the suburbs and was pleased every time. It always is the same beautiful, full even and symmetrical shape I love them!! I love Monica at Michigan Ave she is so sweet and quick. I have also seen Janneta at Old Orchard professional and precise I went to her when she was at the Woodfield location as well.
