So, I used to think I had pretty good brows when I moved to Chicago six years ago. I did not. Nadia and Lina helped me grow my brows in and shape them to perfection. I would rather let them completely grow out then go to anyone else. I have super thick, Persian brows and get SO many compliments on my brows all the time, even when they are a little bit grown out. Nadia. How did I ever get so lucky to have this brow threading master come into my life? Let me tell you first off.. her location is tricky to get to. I think I finally have it down, but I can't explain how to get there, you just do. She doesn't answer her phone, so you have to text her to make an appointment, no walk ins. I know, you're probably thinking why am I giving her 5 stars then? She is an expert. You just know it the second you meet her. No funny business, no chit chat. Just get down in the chair and 5 minutes later your brows are painlessly and inexpensively shaped. I've officially switched from waxing to threading, and refuse to have anyone other than Nadia touch my brows. However, she does offer waxing but doesn't recommend it. Most of her clientele receives a full face threading treatment (I know this from every time I've been there the girl before me gets it). So I asked for it last week. Lina was super good and super nice! She made my daughter and me comfortable as soon as we entered the salon. She recommended an eyebrow waxing instead of threading. If you're looking for the place for the first time, you must look for a sign on the building that says "Phenix". You walk past the Indian restaurant and should find stairs that go down. When you get to the lower level, you'll walk around a "maze" of all kinds of beauty-related salons (hair, makeup, eyebrows, skincare, what gave you). Been going to Nadia since my first review and I'm not sure what I'm going to do when I relocate to Charlotte, NC. I'm still amazed that she truly "sexified" my eyebrows despite that I have a scar right on the brow bone. I even have an arch that I never thought possible. I have to dig up an old pic with my thinning brows and post it here so you can see what I mean. Nadia just changed the type of wax she uses to something organic and gentler. I have to agree with all the reviews for Nadia. She is excellent! She is very sweet and she made sure to educate me on the proper shaping technique for my brows. I specifically booked a brow tweezing appointment because I have very sensitive skin. She honored my wishes and she shared with me what the benefits of perhaps using a hard wax in the future. She also asked me to research the hard wax so we could talk about it next time I came. Overall I'm very pleased with my brows. Wish I could've tried Nadia out but I didn't get the opportunity. After all of the great reviews, I wanted to book an appointment to get my eyebrows done properly before my upcoming relocation to a smaller city. Since the Yelp online booking link didn't work, I tried calling...and calling. The first time, I left a message. The next time, the mailbox was full, but my (2nd) missed call which should've registered and been returned. A couple of days later, I called a different number that reached another suite and was advised to call her assistant, Lena and was given her number. I left a voice message with Lena and she called me back the next day. I explained that I wanted to set an appointment with Nadia and was booked. Woohoo finally! I hoped my brows would be worth the hassle of simply making an appointment. No such luck. After a 20 minute drive to get there and paying for parking, I was greeted by Lena who was working on a client. She introduced herself and told me she would get to me shortly. Wait what? Where is Nadia??? A few minutes later Nadia walks in. I was about to sit in her chair when she realized I was not her scheduled client. We had an awkward exchange (in front of Lena and her client) in which she apologized for the inconvenience, blamed the mixup on likely poor reception in the suite, and told me Lena would be able to do the same job she would. The client being worked on felt the need to cosign. This was not the point. I don't doubt that Lena would've done a nice job, but I came in after having read reviews specifically for Nadia...and at $30, it doesn't come cheap. Since she is from whom I requested the service, I believe I should've received it, rather than be asked to accept an alternative. I think that a better solution could've been proposed that wouldn't have come at my time and experience expense, and it wasn't. So I left and went to Benefit's Brow Bar. She truly is The Boss Babe of Brows. Of course, they came out perfect. After beautifying the brows 100,000 times, well I think she's getting the hang of it. Yes, Nadia had been in business so long she's hitting the 100k mark. Clearly she loves what she does, she has exacting technical knowledge and great conversation. I felt like I was there for a while, we covered so many topics but I was in and out on time with a wax and tint that brought back the brows I had in my twenties. Nadia is my eyebrow savior. Seriously, she's that good. I had been growing out my eyebrows for about 8 months before I went to Nadia. I told myself I'd rather be the crazy brow lady than have them repeatedly butchered and thinned out. My eyebrows are a little special, they're not exactly the same shape and there's a small scar on my right arch. People who have done my eyebrows in the past usually act like they know what they're doing. Nine times out of ten I usually leave the place with barely any eyebrows left because they fixate on trying to match my scarred eyebrow with my normal eyebrow. (It's like they've never heard of an eyebrow pencil.) When I first saw Nadia, she immediately went over my eyebrows with me. What shape they should be, where I still needed more growth, and most importantly my scar. She was able to make my eyebrows nearly identical without making them thinner. She also applies makeup to them so they look even more polished. Her prices just went up. It used to be $20 to do eyebrows with her but now it's $30. Although it's substantially more than what other places charge, I'd rather see Nadia than pay someone money for terrible brows. read more

After Lina cleans up my brows, I feel like me, but better! She keeps them looking very natural, and I love how conscientious she is. My brows aren't perfectly symmetrical, but usually I'm dismissed with something along the lines of "the difference is so minimal, no one would notice." That may be true, but I definately do, and so did Lina when she worked on me for the first time (without me bringing it up). If you drive, you know that parking in the area is a hassle, but there are the 15 min standing spots in front of the building or meter parking on Oak St. I'm not the best planner so the ease of scheduling appointments online, within the next couple days is a big plus. For first timers, you should know that the studio is in a maze-like lower level and entrance is down the black stairs, next to the salon. read more

Ok, so I'm super lazy but it's about time I write this review. First of all, before even getting to the brows, Nadia and Lina are both awesome. Great conversation, hilarious, and make you feel right at home the second you walk in. Now for the brows: I am a redhead and my brows are basically clear. On one hand, this is great because when they start getting overgrown harder to tell, but on the other, it's not so great because most brow ladies don't feel the need to do a thorough job with them. I've been all over Chicago and have never had someone take as much care as Nadia in making sure that both brows are shaped evenly and that every stray hair is gone. Love Nadia. I discovered her on yelp almost 2 years ago and decided to see if she really was as good as her reviewers were saying she was. Verdict? Perfect brows. When I first came to her, my brows were thin, and I had no clue how to shape them/ fill them in with a brow kit. She not only helped me with growing them out & shaping them, but she also took the time to show me how to use my benefit brow kit to fill them in/shape them so I could DO IT everyday at home. My brows were perfect for my August wedding and I plan on continuing to see Nadia for my brows. Another reason for the five stars- she is a very sweet and down to earth person. I am a baby about pain. HUGE baby! I would cry every single time I had my eyebrows waxed. Now? I don't even tear up! Nadia does an amazing job doing a completely pain free wax. My brows have never looked better. They are full, with a nice arch, and are finally growing back from my disasters in threading. And Nadia touches them up with makeup after she waxes, so I don't walk out with crazy red marks. She takes her time working on them, and always shows you as she goes along. My friend and I have been getting our eyebrows waxed by Nadia over the past 6-7 months and both of us couldn't be happier with the results! Let me preface this by saying, I have had some pretty traumatic experiences in the past with getting my eyebrows waxed. I won't got into the gory details, but over time I have found it is VERY hard to find someone who does a good job, and nearly impossible to find someone as talented as Nadia. I like how she takes the time to study your brows and come up with a game plan opposed to just diving in. She does a great job of emphasizing your natural arc and is detailed with trimming and shaping. Also, she won't let you leave her chair until your brows look amazing! As you can tell by the yelp reviews, she is a pretty popular lady, but she doesn't let that take away from your appointment time or your brows. Also, she is probably one of the friendliest, easiest to talk to you, nicest people that I have met in that industry :) I know she offers other services, but I have only had my brows done by her. I never really paid too much attention to my eyebrows until I met her. After my first appointment, there was no turning back! There were full, arched, and perfect! Her studio is small but super cute. She is very sweet and always fun to talk to! She even remembers small details from your last appointment. She is easy to get a hold of via text (and will also text you a reminder the day before). Was in the area and needed a quick fix. I called for an appointment and was able to be seen within 15 minutes. The "boutique" was not what I expected...although I am not sure I was really expecting anything. A very simple room with a salon chair, service station, a cabinet, and a bench. Service was good. I prefer waxing over threading - I do not handle pain very well. which must have showed, because I was asked several times if I was doing alright. The end result was just as I requested. I'm not sure if Nadia or Lina performed the service but I was pleased. One thing that I thought was odd, there was a gentleman that sat in the room with us while the service was being done. I have had such horrible experiences getting my eyebrows shaped. Nadia is just as sweet as the reviews say, very easy to talk to, friendly, knows her stuff when it comes to proper brow shape. She is now my go to person for brows. Love her! She walks you through the whole process and actually talks to you before she gets started to understand what it is you are looking for. The only con is that her suite is located in the Phenix Salon Suites on Walton in Streeterville, parking is expensive around the area, so be prepared for that. read more

Love Nadia and she is amazing at what she does! I also found her via velp reviews at Benefit Brow Bar at Bloomingdales, and have followed her to her new suite, which is clean and inviting. I like that she places her angle marks on your brows and explains the area where your brows should start, end and arc, she explains her process so that you know where to not pluck and allow to grow ( if needed). She truly enjoys what she does, and gets excited about it. I have thick, corse eyebrows (I'm 75% Mexican) and like shapely but natural looking arches and she does fabulous eyebrows. I am verrrrrry particular about my eyebrows. I've never been a fan of threading, but I have tried most of the four- and five-star threading salons in Lakeview and on Devon, hoping for a good brow. At best, I got a clean up. Nadia got me very close to the perfect arch that I wanted. She was honest with me from the beginning and said that they wouldn't be PERFECT this time, because the last time I had gotten my brows done they took off too much. She shaped them, told me not to touch them for a month, and said we'd be pretty close to perfect next time. I believe her. They look pretty amazing. She even gave me a few pointers on tinting and filling them at home to help in between (and all the time). She's a keeper. read more

The best part is you can book your appointments online - I HIGHLY recommend doing this to get your choice of appointments (if you work a traditional schedule & plan on popping in after work, M-F evenings fill up quickly, so the online booking is REALLY handy to schedule regular appointments - and you can change your appointments online as well). I know a few Yelpers mentioned not getting through on the phone - it's only because these awesome girls are really busy because they are so great!
