Can I give Lash Looks-Joan Kim 10 *'s please?! Ok, so shopping on Groupon I found this steal of a deal for Lash extensions. And last yr when I went to LA with some gf's, one of them had it done regularly and I fell in love with her lashes. So she mentioned to me that its quite costly but well worth it and you have to really do your homework on the person that does it because not everyone that claims to know how to do it, KNOWS how to do it. So when I found this steal of a deal, I thought let me buy it and try it out...did some yelp research on Joan and liked what I read, so purchased it and waited to use it. Fast Fwd to Dec. 18... So I decided since my bday is the 19th, why not have my lashes done & looking purrty for the bday party I'm having on the 22nd. Scheduled my appt, and as it turns out, the location is a block away from my job which was perfect. Meet Joan and we exchange pleasantries and she explains what she will be doing, etc. Lay back and my lashes are in her hands. An hour later, I wake up ( I totally napped out) and she hands me a mirror and I look and am simply put: AMAZED at how wonderful and full my lashes look. I can officially say, I'm HOOKED. Joan is the absolute best. She is a consummate professional and is excellent at what she does. My lashes always look so NATURAL--which is what blows me away. She takes enormous pride in her work (as she should), and as a result, will not allow you to leave her studio without looking like you always wake up looking that good. I've tried to make an appointment here multiple times. Every time I call, Joan never answers. I texted her telling her with the day I would like to come: "I don't have anything available that day." Okayy? Asked her what she had this weekend: "I'm booked." Made absolutely zero effort to tell me her schedule or when the next available appointment would be. She must not be looking for new clients, which is sad because I could have brought her a huge group of new clientele. Really disappointed, she looks like one of the best around where I live. I agree with the other users who are raving about Joan. She is the best in the industry... BY FAR. I have been to my fair share of lash spots, and the quality of her work is unmatched. Her lashes stay on the longest, and they look and feel the most natural. Other lash places just put on the same kind of lashes for everyone, but Joan puts on the best lashes for YOUR eyes. It was my first time getting eyelash extensions, but after seeing/hearing about them on tv, I wanted to try them. So glad I chose Lash Looks (basically picked it bc it seemed to be highest rated on YELP). Joan's attention to detail is pristine and I receive compliments on them all the time. I have a couple friends who have gotten lash extensions before (at other places) and they've mentioned that they only last a few days and do not look as good as mine. She wouldn't take me as a customer because she did not do my initial set of lashes! It must be nice to only have customers who start their lashes with you or who are willing to let all their lashes come off so you can start the new set. I travel a lot and have to get my fills when and where I can get them. Needless to say, Joan did not want a new customer who already had lashes applied. If she's so difficult about things like this where else might you run into trouble? read more

I've been a client of Joan's for many years. I get my lashes permed every 5-6 weeks. I'm Asian and when I use an eye lash curler (even the heated variety), it leaves a crease so perming is a great solution. Joan is meticulous! She takes her time arranging each lash on the rod before she perms it so that there are no gaps. It truly opens my eyes and makes me look like I've slept for the past 12 hours. I've tried all the other lash depots in Chicago and none compares to the level of attention you will receive from Joan. read more

I went to four different lash places before finding Joan who is truly the best at what she does. Your lashes will look perfect when she's done and they truly last 3-4 weeks. I'm not sure if it's the more light weight lashes she uses, her amazing technique, or the type of glue she uses but I'm pretty sure it's a combination of all three.
