Sushi is great. Service definitely needs a little work. I shared the Foothill Roll and the Friday roll and it was delicious. Both smothered in spicy mayo and unagi sauce yum! Service was a bit slow. There was one sushi master and one waitress, which explains the service. We got our order after a couple who came before us. We ordered tuna sushi and the guy said they didn't have it so recommended something else-toro sushi, which we ended up ordering however he didn't tell us that it was 3 times the price of what we originally wanted! He then argued in front of all the customers that we should have known the price because "everybody knows!" At least that's what he kept telling us! This is terrible business! Usually when you substitute a dish for another they would tell you it's also 3 TIMES the original price! We still paid the $100 but I feel they ripped us off because they knew we have never been there before and we were asking lots of questions. The chef decided not to tell us the ridiculous price. We ordered a two item for 14.95 and a three item for 10.95. The salmon sashimi was really thick and fresh. I'm glad I ordered it. We also ordered the baked scallop on California rolls. My favorite by far would be the shrimp tempura hand roll. The shrimp was not overlooked and it was fried to perfection. A friend referred this place right in our neighborhood. I had a hankering for all you can eat, but realized my eyes are always bigger than my stomach and I spend almost $80 feeling too stuffed. My husband and I came here and beat the dinner time rush. We ordered the Richie Rich hand roll which was huge, the Harry Potter, The White, and Four Season rolls. All I can say is that we love this place! We have been looking for a good sushi place that rivals the kind that we are used to when in Hawaii. We have now been back 5 times and each time it doesn't disappoint. Margaret and Richie are awesome and we look forward to our dinners there. We have tried their green beans, karaage chicken, udon, and a variety of their sushi. Everything is amazing. Our 3 year old twin boys love the udon, chicken, and green beans. I personally look forward to their nigiri sushi...yellowtail, salmon, Spanish mackerel, kanpachi, yellowtail belly, salmon belly...etc. As you can tell we go there to eat A LOT. Our bill is normally around $200 but it is worth every single cent. It is a family owned business and you can tell that they put their heart and soul into the food and business. I'm sad to see the negative reviews. From the cluster of them, it seems like Anaba had a bad day and the yelpers ganged up. I can say that our meal and experience at Anaba was wonderful -- it was well worth the trip from Claremont. We had sashimi and nigiri, no rolls or dishes from kitchen this time. The fish was fresh and the cuts oversized (!), the rice perfectly seasoned. One heads up: the chef isn't shy about adding some heat. Equally delightful was the experience of getting to know the chef and his wife, who served us. They were earnest, friendly and attentive. No doubt we'll make the trip again. read more

This is my first review and rightly so. This place, small and quant, has great fresh sushi with wonderful combinations of flavor that make it stand out among other sushi restaurants. Something as simple as the crunch of the crisp cucumber was enough to make my night. There is also something to say about noticing how all the customers in at the time were regulars. I was a regular when Sushi Dave was here with a different restaurant but I gave the new place a try and wow I was really impressed all the rolls were very tasty the edamame amazing flavor and wow the seaweed salad very good too. I didn't like the coconut ice cream but my friends like the fried banana and green tea ice cream. I still recommend dress in layers the AC still working too good and when off it's pretty stuffy but I was use to that from before. The decor changed it's nice and soft colors very pretty nice change. Over all be ready to eat some good food and go with time since he's just one sushi chef and you might wait a little but enjoy the appetizers those come out quick. This place definitely needs a review. My girlfriend and I are big time sushi eaters, we do not order those California rolls, or any of those fancy dragon your mama dynamite rolls ever, so we were very skeptical on this place and it's yelp review. There are only a few places we would considered to have some of the best sushi in town and Glendora was no where near that map. However, we were pleasantly surprise at how fresh and perfectly cut our sushi was and to top it off, larger than normal cuts. I was going to give 4 stars because of the slow service but seeing how still new this place was and only 1 chef and 1 waitress working, I will let it slide. Usually I am very anal about service but the sushi was just so surprisingly good. We came on a Saturday night and it was pretty empty for being how small it was. If you can stand extremely slow service the sushi is pretty good for where it is located. Hopefully the service speeds up and the sushi taste the same. Happy sushi hunting! read more

Ok. To be honest good food. Good slow chef. I enjoy eating here but ever since it opened (under new management) it hasn't been the same so I've been taking my food to go. It just works out for me. BUT, I'm getting tired of waiting so long to get the food that was called in and ordered 30 minutes ahead. Even after calling in, I STILL wait for 10-15 minutes. Today was the last straw. I called and was told 40 minutes. Ok, I get it. So I waited and arrived 40 minutes after my call. Was my food ready? Nope, haven't even started. I still had to sit and wait 15+ minutes. Sorry, but one hour wait on food, on sushi, is just wrong. I hate to say it but they lost this customer. I'm sure they could care less. There's other sushi bars in the area with good ratings. Again good food and ok experience IF you're eating in. I believe that if they got more staff, they could do better and get more customers. read more

My sister took me and upon walking in it has a homey feel and the cutest decorations. She warned me that service is a little slow because there are only 3 employees. Food actually came out pretty fast, but we did arrive when they just opened, it got full real quick as the time went by. Oh dear lord was I pleasantly surprised. The salmon sushi has been the best Ive had. So soft and buttery. The salmon carpaccio was delicious. Spicy as hell but I battled through the fire in my mouth because the flavors were great. I was so sad there was so little. I also would recommend the Tropical mango roll. Ive had plenty of sushi rolls that incorporate mango, but the mango isn't the best and crab meat used is just okay. Disgusting. Sour. Inedible. I went to this place with high hopes. Left with a bitter taste in my mouth, literally. You'd be better off getting gas station sushi. If you do decide to torture your taste buds by trying this restaurant, I'd suggest getting something without avocado and without cream cheese. The waitress tried to excuse the sour taste of the bad avocado on the fact that they use vinegar in their rice. Ended up going to del taco after which was a 10 in comparison. I really was hesitant to write this, however it needs to be addressed. I'm a reservation guy to the deepest part of my body. I can get past the no reservations on weekends, (sorta lame but whatever) So I stick to weekdays. Call way in advance, give my information clearly and painfully accurate. Show up early, and stay 100% polite and pleasant, (anyone that might handle the food that goes in my pie-hole is treated like royalty, always) I even call a second time as it gets closer to reconfirm my reservations, and tip 30% or more at my sushi places. I won't go into details, but I have had 3 separate and very unpleasant reservation experiences here. So bad that I must take my business elsewhere. Not sure if it is the staff, lack there of, or they just don't understand what reservations actually mean. On the subject of service, they only have one server, and bless her heart, she tries, but it can be painfully slow, she will disappear forever, and then come out for a moment, and then disappear again. You really have to flag her down if you need anything. Polite yes, but lacks attentiveness. Of course I do understand it is a small sushi bar, but maybe, just maybe you should just not advertise that you take reservations. Because you really miffed that portion of your business up. If you don't care about reservations and slow service at times, this might be the place for you. I truly wanted this to be one of my go-to local sushi places. Side note: might be some stacking of the deck, do yourself a favor, go the the bad first. Just saying. read more
