Shore Acres consists of 14 cabins on Big Bear Lake. It is a low-key family friendly environment with BBQs, Swimming Pool, Jacuzzi, Swings, Ping Pong, Horseshoes, Cornhole, Badminton and of course, fishing. It is close to the center of the Village and the marinas for Jet Ski and Boat rentals. It was so relaxing and so much fun for the the children that we came back for 12 more summers. Either we stayed at Shore Acres or as the kids got older, at one of the other 300 properties managed by Big Bear Vacations, a family friendly business. After having not been back for 18 years, I was at Shore Acres this summer with my 38-year-old son and it continues to be the family friendly environment we remembered. Next summer, I have reservations at Shore Acres for my 3 children, spouses, significant others and grandchildren ages 1 and 3 to begin anew or renew our family tradition. None of us can hardly wait.

She reserved 6 cabins to fit her entire party, so fam pretty much monopolized the entire area. The bench and tables came in handy during feeding time. It's only a few seconds' walk to the lake, and if that's not your thing, there's also a well-kept pool available. There's a playground for kids as well. There are charcoal grills for use if needed. The cabins are dated and rustic, but that's just part of this place's character. It's fully equipped with everything you need - towels, soap, extra sheets and blankets included. The overall interior decor gave off a 70's-80's vibe. Not complaining - just describing it on a personal level. They should consider doing a few upgrades, though (hopefully without having to raise their rates!) PET PARENTS: Dogs are allowed but there is a fee. (I believe it was $35/night.) But it's the bonding and building family memories that I appreciated most. And this place was truly a good one to do it at. We had a wonderful time!

They bought the property in February and opened recently. Still setting up some landscaping. I have reviewed this stay as a soft-open. Loved my room on the second floor of a standalone four-room cabin. Small, well designed, and well fitted. Every appliance is easy to use. There is a Roku remote control. I am the first person ever to stay in this room! Fun squirrels everywhere. It is built on a hillside with good steps and ramps. The entrance from the road had a steep slope that could be challenging in icy conditions. The owners are working on these issues: 1. The guest portal uses a web portal that did not always work well for me. Could not check in online from my iPhone; my VPN blocked it. I had to use a desktop browser. The portal then gave me the password for the keypad on my door but did not send me my room number. 2. There was not enough bandwidth to stream the Roku free movie that I tried to watch on the TV. 3. Unclear if the historic Mansion (from 1920) was open to guests. It was not clear to me where some attractions were, but the owners will provide signage.

From the beginning to the end we had the best experience. The mansion has so much history, is perfect to accommodate multiple families with en suites, huge kitchen, many places to relax, and plenty to do. We had kids from ages 4 to 10. We thought we would run out of things for them to do. Not at all. The mansion is so huge, they had plenty of room to stretch out, the hills on the property provided for fun sledding and snowman building. The adults were either at the sauna, jacuzzi, kitchen, outside in the snow walking the 2 acres of property or just relaxing in one of the many comfy nooks. I highly recommend Edgewood Mansion for any type of event whether it's a birthday trip, family reunion, corporate retreat or any other purpose where you want to feel like you're at home, or provided for like a Queen. The location which is located higher up in the mountains is away from the traffic. The accommodations are immaculate and the concierge services provided by Chantal who was available to us 24/7 before we got there and during, was spot on. We catered instead of cooking which was so much easier on everyone so we could enjoy each other's company versus cooking. Chantal gave us choices and she had Mexican food delivered one night, Italian catered another and on New Years Eve we had a personal chef, Mike who is a master chef create the most delicious surf and turf dinner. We had piles of Alaskan king crab legs and the freshest, tastiest filet. Everything was provided. This was an amazing trip because of where we stayed, the owner Laura who was so accommodating and Chantal who was so helpful. Our friends have not stopped thanking us for coordinating this trip. We all got to spend time together with the kids together and not feeling overwhelmed because everything was at our fingertips. Thank you to Laura, Chantal, Irvin and the maintenance crew, Sherri our housekeeper and the magical Edgewood Mansion.

I would consider staying here again but I would want to go in early Spring or late Fall when it is cooler because the cabins do not have AC and only a fan to blow on you. I was hot and tired from a long hike I did and it was really hard for me to cool down in the room and get a nap in unfortunately. The good news is that the room cools off as soon as the sun moves behind the cabin. The studio suite I was in was pretty well equipped. Keep in mind they ask you to not rely on housekeeping to take care of any messes you might make while you are there. Sometimes when you go on vacation you sometimes want to leave the chores at home but this lodge asks that you haul out your trash and respectfully clean all the dishes used for coffee, etc. I was fine with that but just something you should be aware of when about to check out. Also read the literature they give you at check in thoroughly . I didn't realize I needed to hang a parking sign on my parked car until I read the brochure at 5am the next day but lucky for me my car was still there. Also reading the literature in the envelope they mentioned check out was at 11 but the introductory email I was sent said 10, so there was that indecision as to how late I should sleep in to but I just decided to check out at 7 instead and save any headache and also get a jump on the crowds at Grizzly Manor Diner. Great place for families tho, lots of space to run around outside, bikes to ride around, campfires to sit around, and bring your swimming trunks too. Taking a dip in their pool is the instant solution to the air conditioning dilemma besides taking a cold shower. I'd give Noon Lodge 4.5 stars w the opportunity for 5 if they had some AC, but like I said, check the temps ahead of time and probably stay here if it doesn't get above 80 the days you come.

Downstairs was the kitchen, living room, bathroom with shower and a bedroom with a queen bed. Then upstairs, a loft with a twin over full bunk bed, then another bathroom with shower and a large bedroom with queen bed and a balcony overlooking the lake. There was a nice size pool with loungers, a few fire pits with chairs around, picnic tables, cute lighting, soft music. Games here and there like cornhole. Towels provided at the pool. Canoes that you can use. Just make sure to sign the waiver. We used the canoes everyday. No extra cost. Jesus was so helpful! I don't enjoy writing bad reviews, but this one needs to go out…read more My brother and I planned a reunion 9 months in advance with activities for our 48 family members. It was to culminate with going to Oak Knoll Lodge, our family's traditional vacation spot when we grew up. We used to spend a week there swimming in the pool with a slide, playing shuffleboard, horseshoes, ping pong and going into town for some shopping and hiking. We booked the entire lodge for 3 nights including one night free for booking 2 nights. We were excited to experience the Oak Knoll Lodge with our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. I should have known there was a problem when I tried to confirm the booking a month in advance and the phone number on the website was not answered with no mailbox having been set up. After many attempts I finally got thru to someone who was representing the new owner. They told me our reservation was there, but only for 2 nights so I added the 3rd night for an increased cost. I paid over $5,000 for the 50% deposit. On the day of arrival some of my family members got there early but could not check in without me or my brother being there. Then my daughter called to tell me the pool was empty and there was nobody in the lodge, just a sign to call a different lodge to check in at. I was upset, because with the temperatures topping at 80 degrees the pool was essential for a good time. I called the phone number, and the representative could not give me any information other than the pool was not available. She refused to give me the name or number of the owner and only the first name of the manager, no number to call. She did have the manager call me and then he had the owner call me who said the pool had an issue 3 days ago. I asked why I wasn't told about this, and he said it wasn't his fault it was not working. He then wouldn't let my people check in without us first making payment in full. I eventually got him to let my people check in and he agreed to give me a 25% discount and the use of another pool at another lodge. When my family finally checked in, there were no amenities. No shuffleboard, no horseshoes, no pool and the only ping pong table was in the office that had nobody working there. Many of the cabins were dirty without working stoves, microwaves or refrigerators. There were even mouse droppings in the beds, bowls and flooring. Some of the cabins were missing bedding, pillows, utensils... Because of the missing amenities, unsanitary condition and poor maintenance of the cabins we refused to pay the balance of what we owed and the owner, Ken, then refused to let us use the ping pong table or main lodge area during our stay. The pool he promised to let us use at a lodge over a mile away was small, no slide, dirty, seating for only 5 people and no water in it. The pool at Oak Knoll Lodge, we later found out, had not been used or working for a long time. When I told Ken about all the problems and our unwillingness to pay the balance, I never heard back from him, the manager or the check in person although someone did send a person to clean the rat droppings. We ended up having to pay an extra $4,000 to give my family other activities to do which included the Alpine Slide entertainment area and the Lodge at Big Bear with a working pool that would keep them cool and have fun to finish what was supposed to be our first ever epic reunion. The reunion ended up great no thanks to the poorly managed and laughably inadequate accommodations at the Oak Knoll Lodge. If you decide to go there, you best check it out first as it was clearly not what was represented on the website.

First of all the cabin was really tiny even for just the two of us but it was very cozy. Everything was clean and pretty much everything you need in that space. One night stayed came with 3 wood bundles and a few starters which is enough through the whole dinner time.We didn't use kitchen inside the cabin at all.First time we cooked a steak on the bonfire and the second time I brought pre made food from home and just reheat it on the bonfire.Keep in mind,If you wanna grill anything on the fire you have to used Tinfoil and do not cook your meat directly on the grilled.(I think it was written somewhere) Inside cabin they provided an electric stove top,Plates and all kitchen utensils including dish soap and sponge. Both my husband and I have cell phone service just fine (Verizon) but when you're surrounded with that beautiful nature just leave your phone in the cellphone lockbox and forget about it (Just don't forget it when you check out) There were 2 electrical outlets that I saw so far inside the cabins. One was by the bed or by the dining table (Depend on which cabins you got) and another one next to toilet in the bathroom. Was it convenience? Not really but it's doable for us. Water pressure was good but used water one thing at the time.No sink and shower in the same time. There was no mirror or bathroom sink whatsoever,so get a lil creative of How you would put make up on or brush your teeth. Each cabins have there own individual parking,So don't worried about it. On the second visited there was cute deers walked by really close to our cabins.Love that! Customer service were great! Basically anything you need or any questions just text them. There was no front desk to check in or out. Before 4 pm which is check in time they will texted you the code and the instructions and then before check out time they will text you another code for check out.Easy and convenience. We can't wait to go back for the third time,Hopefully we can make it happen soon!

12/12/25 - 12/25/25…read more This was our last vacation before our baby would be born in March 2026. The drive down to the location wasn't bad, but it was pretty spooky the last 20 minutes or so going up the mountain since it was late at night when we arrived (10 PM). A huge plus for going here was that they are dog friendly. We had seen some reels of Postcard Cabins on Instagram and wanted to experience it for ourselves. Now if you like being cozy, this is the perfect place for you. BUT if you're the type of person that needs to stretch out and have lots and lots of space, don't even bother. My husband and I were interested in the tiny cabin experience and we wanted to unplug from the world a bit with just us three (me, Zach and our dog Coco) before our baby girl arrived. After we got ourselves situated, we pretty much passed out since we had been driving all day. What we failed to notice that first night was that the bed sheets had a big stain. Was it red wine or blood?....we didn't know, but I saw that after waking up the next morning. We texted Marriot (who owns the cabins) to have them changed, which they did later in the day because their staff start at 10:30AM. Our tiny cabin was equipped with a heater (didn't need that since we were warm inside) and A/C which unfortunately was not even cold. Upon entering the cabin, the door to the bathroom is on your right. The size of the bathroom (toilet and shower) is the size of a small closet with a teeny window to vent out smell. At least we get hot water for the shower thankfully. There's a small hot water tank that lives under the cabin. The bed is a size queen which is fine if you are used to that size mattress, but it was tight for us with me being 7 months pregnant and Coco sleeping on the bed with us (she's a 50lb dog). Complimentary items include: instant oatmeal, two water bottles, popcorn, 2 smokes kits and instant coffee. In the cabinets you'll find a kettle, a lighter, a lantern, cups, pots, plates and pans. Right by the cabin, there is a firewood starter kit and wood bundles. The view is pretty nice and the cabins are spaced out from each other so you have privacy. I would say overall it wasn't the best but it also wasn't too unpleasant of an experience. Maybe we'll try it again with our daughter sometime in the future.

This is super dangerous and luckily my youngest daughter did not get burned. There is no reason to allow your water heater to pump out scolding hot water, that is a simple adjustment. Fan in the bathroom is broken upstairs so to get air flow from a shower, you need to open the window which is in direct view of the neighbors living space. How the cleaning service does not notice this is confusing. The towels in the bathrooms are literally rags, all mixed matched, some with holes and super thin. Just a bit odd when you need 4 towels to dry off. The kitchen did not have a decent quality or array of items needed. The dishwasher had a rubber band holding the utensil tray on. The fireplace/living room was why we choose this location so that was as expected. The lingering Christmas decorations were a bit odd but with the overall quality of the property, it makes me think the property is just not either rented often or maintained. And last but not least, while we stayed for 2 nights, keep in mind we were out and about all day, a critter chewed all the wiring in our engine. It definitely was at this cabin since our engine light went on when we were departing on our last day. We assumed it was a faulty sensor since my car is new but as it turns out, $1,067 later, something ate through our engine while it was parked at the unit. And, that $1,067 may not fix it. If it doesn't work, the dealership told me they would need to replace this entire section. I did not bother to ask how much that was going to be. There are signs all over reminding you to not feed critters and you can not use their city issued trash receptacles. They want you to take the trash with you to this local dump which for this cabin, was in a convenient location. Not a big deal they want you to take the trash, but I am assuming the critter issue is a much bigger problem. We also opted to have the trip insurance just in case of weather. Although they cover a wide array of random things, the one thing they have listed as being not covered is.......VERMIN. I notified the management and they responded with a we will look into it. Does anyone else notice there are only 5 star reviews on their Big Bear Cabin website? Good thing we have other options on google & yelp to make a review!
