Amazing breakfast burritos and customer service. I order ahead for pickup to beat the line

My 70 year old parents were out visiting. I took my 5 kids and parents to Amy's Cafe because of the food. We went into Amy's 9 meals were ordered. All was good. My Dad, being the generous father he is, grabbed the bill and paid. He is a 74 year old who has always shown his appreciation to everyone by tipping them. My father has always worked hard for his money and thus he wants to bless those who don't get the appreciation that is overlooked by others. My father took one step into the servers area and handed each cook a gracious tip. A young Hispanic tattooed individual aggressively raised his voice at my 74 year old father telling him to get out of the building. My father finished handing the cooks their tip and the server stepped toward my father raised his voice to a yell and appeared to want to fight. The server was so out of line, another older server yelled from across the building to stop talking and "shut-up". I quickly walked over to assess the problem and this boy was telling us we need to get out of the building. I told the server his actions are really "over the top", and I will not be ever coming back as my father was just showing gratitude to the cook! Again the server was just wanting to yell instead of being grateful our generosity... I will never be stepping foot in that facility again. I just recently moved to Riverside, and so far this is my favorite diner, and one of the few real blue collar diners that I've found. Almost everything else is a chain. The food is good, and the people are great. There is almost always at least one regular sitting at the counter, and the waitstaff seems to greet almost everyone by name as they walk in. Veronica even learned and remembered my name after only a few visits. Parking on the weekend can be a bit of a challenge, but that is true of almost every diner. read more

Breakfast burrito here is insane. This is such a hidden gem spot. Staff here is amazing and makes you feel at home. Breakfast burrito is legit the size of your head, and becomes lunch and dinner too. The chicken fried steak breakfast is my go-to item. The rest of the family enjoys the breakfast sandwiches, pancake stacks, the breakfast scrambles. Staff has always been polite, attentive and friendly. Now with the outdoor seating they are doing their best to make our experience as pleasant as possible. Key points: Good place for Breakfast/brunch. Don't let the exterior fool you. The Mrs. and I came here for a late afternoon brunch. We saw good yelp reviews and came here to check it out. We were initially a bit irked from the appearance of the outside, as it appears a bit old and run down. However, it was an entirely different scene inside. The interior is actually well-kept, and pretty well decorated. It definitely has that classic diner feel to it. The food was great as well: Old fashion skillet - savory Bacon, sausage, eggs, scrambled together over a bed of home fries. We ordered this with a side of fruit. Can't go wrong this classic brunch item. Blueberry pancakes - moist, soft, sweet, with Blueberries inside. We really wanted a change in the classic buttermilk pancakes. These were delicious and went well with the coffee . Coffee - to be honest, it tasted a little bit burnt. Not the best coffee I've had in the past. However, can't always expect everything to be perfect. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in Riverside wanting a good place for brunch. I don't recommend this restaurant!! I actually enjoyed the food and service at this restaurant until today, sadly to say, never again will I spend my money at this restaurant, all over a $3.45 cup of coffee, customer service and management that doesn't value there customers. I will say; this ordeal sounds petty, but for me it's the principle behind the incident what took place. The so called manager, how has a zero clue on customer service, he refused to serve me a second cup of coffee because it was 2:15 pm and the restaurant was closing at 3pm. Neither the server or the manager informed me while taking my order for a meal and coffee, that I would only be served 1 cup of coffee, approximately 8-10 oz. While enjoying my meal I asked for another cup of coffee, I was told by the server they were out, would I like something else, I ask if they could make another pot, the manager refused, I asked the manager to take coffee off my bill, he refused. Now the server, was only following the manager orders, I believe he would has made another pot for me. "I frequent restaurants often, this is a first for me, never have I experienced when asking for a second, third even forth cup of coffee been told no, especially after being forced to pay for a cup". If you ask me the server and manager roles should be swapped. This kid has no business managing any type of business, especially one that deals with customers. read more

Big lover of diners, and this place will make you feel the opposite. Apparently the owner was our waitress and not friendly whatsoever. Ordered a milkshake and didn't get a straw. By the time she came back it was melted, and it was shoved into a oversize water cup. The french dip was old meat and overcooked. Couldn't even eat it. She never came back to even check on how the food was. Apparently people who come there like mediocre food. I was not a fan. Will never go back again. read more

Use to be my go-to breakfast spot. Super small, and felt warm and inviting. Not anymore!! The food has been downsized. Smaller portions than I remember. Seriously like 2-3 bites of hasbrowns worth. The food was cold, and did not taste what I remember. Not one time did we get our drinks refilled. We had to ask for more coffee every time, the 2 waitresses sat and talked most of the time. Another turn off, a women came in and asked for an application and the waitress was so rude to her. She didn't want to give her the time of day. She told her no and that their employees stay so they never hire. I can tell you, every time I go in there, it's someone different. We ordered 3 regular breakfast plates, 2 kids meals, 2 coffees, and an orange juice and our bill was a wasted $64. read more

Omg!! A hidden gem. I've been craving Chilaquiles for a while , I've tried them other places and they don't compare. My coworker raved about them , so I had to try them . I am beyond satisfied. Will definitely will be back to try more menu options . read more

Anyone rating less than 4 stars is a fool. Found this place while in riverside and gave it a try. Cafe in the same parking lot as a motel which wasn't what we were planning for but don't judge it by what you see outside. Place is clean and staff is friendly. Plenty of breakfast options and you know a place is good when you walk to the door and the old man coming out rubbing his belly saying good food and that it was. I know my breakfast and Amy's hits the spot and wasn't anymore expensive than anywhere else your going to eat. This will definitely be on our breakfast rotation. Get the croissant breakfast sandwich it's money. read more

Food is Great, Service not so good. It's been about a year since I've been back. Might give it another try tonight. Please don't let me down, service was that bad. If one of the waiters/ waitresses has a Significant other and child visiting and are siting with family and Ignoring the people that are paying your wages, it's time to hire new help. Don't judge a book by its cover. Location may not be the best and exterior might seem shady but definitely don't miss out on this gem. American diner with Mexican flair. Huge portions. Tasty food. Interesting flavor combinations. I had the chili verde omelet. You get a choice of two sides and you can choose from fruit cup, grits, pancakes, toast, home fries, hash brown, French toast, biscuits and gravy, and can't remember the rest but it's awesome you get so many sides to choose from. Chili verde omelet was legit with cheese, sour cream, and avocado inside and chunks of tender pork with chili verde spread over top of a gigantic four egg omelet. Home fries were crispy and well done. My French toast was good. Nothing amazing but nothing terrible either. My friends all loved what they ordered too. "Six stars" per my friend David. We all couldn't finish our plates but were really satisfied with the food we could eat. Price is also extremely reasonable. Around $7-10 per dish and again the portion size is extremely generous. I'll give Amy's a solid 5 Stars the food was flavorful the portions were plentiful I ordered the bone in ham and eggs special for $11.45 added bell peppers and onions to my hash browns for an extra .70 cents and also added a 3rd egg to the breakfast for .75 cents more in which I think the added extras were a bit too much for me. I honestly believe my eyes were bigger than my stomach because I didn't even touch my pancakes or ham. Service was really good this is definitely our spot for breakfast whenever we're in the Riverside area. PS change from a 5 Star down to 4 cause there's no free refills on the coffee or orange juice or soft drinks. Other than that it came out to $40.07 for 3 people which is still fairly reasonable. read more

Mom had an appt across the street so I yelped and landed here. Mom had the philly cheese steak sandwich with mashed potatoes and I had the breakfast croissant. My plate was great. Home style, something I would put together and it had avocado too. Extra plus! However I ordered coffee and had to use the creamers that had been left on the table since I asked for creamers and the waitress pointed those out. They seemed to be sitting out for a while, the cream looked chunky in my coffee if you know what I mean. I didn't complain, but it messed up my breakfast meal. Moms mashed potatoes gravy had a sweet BBQ taste to it that she didn't like. And her sandwich not only had mozzarella but American cheese (she hates yellow cheese) it wasn't specified on the menu. Also the steak were not chopped up like they normally are. It was more of thin layers stacked. Like cecina meat. We ate it, price was decent. This first time I tried Amy's was September 2021... and OMG. It's a small restaurant and space but their food is really good. I like that the servers attend to the customers in a timely manner and always go up to the table to make sure you're doing good. I love their skillets and pancakes. It's hard to measure food the days after Thanksgiving but Amy's certainly measures up. We stopped in to ruin a perfectly good workout on a Saturday morning. There seats were full but luckily there was a booth with our names on it. We were seated with a smile and our drink order was placed. I have to start off by saying that sitting in this place gives you a warm diner feel and we immediately knew we were going to have a good breakfast. The menu is quite extensive and I we will have to come back to go through the lunch/dinner options. The breakfast menu is about three pages of mouthwatering choices. They really have a wide variety from I want to eat like a complete pig to I will be good and have fruit. We ordered the kids pancake combo, two eggs with turkey sausage home fries and English muffin and top sirloin and eggs with hash browns and sourdough toast. All was delicious. When I grew up, this location was called Dorry's. I was sad to see it go, but knowing it was replaced with Amy's fills that void. Seriously, Amy's was surprisingly satisfying beyond expectations. I have driven by Amy's so many times and was reluctant to give it ... I am glad I did. Their breakfasts are off-the-hook. For about $11, I got two hot-link sausages, two eggs (over-easy), French Toast and Biscuits and Gravy. :D And the everything tasted great. They also have cream cheese stuffed french toast or pancakes which looked really good. It was one of those dining experiences that was so good that after I left, I couldn't stop thinking about it. Tried this place for the first time this week and I was super impressed! The restaurant is looks like a typical diner. Everyone was friendly and we got seated right away. They have regular diner items and a good selection of Mexican breakfasts as well. I got the Chile verde omelette with home fries and biscuits & gravy. The omelette is filled with sour cream and avocado and topped with pork chile verde and cheese. The home fries were fresh and crispy and I opted to add sautéed peppers and onion to mine. The biscuits were fluffy and soft and the gravy was a little bit light and needed a little salt. Everything tasted amazing I will definitely be visiting again soon. read more
