Very Disappointed - Poor Workmanship and No Response Amtek seemed to do a good job on my front porch and walkway at the time, but now, just three years later, it's clear that the work was subpar. There are several loose pavers, and the porch is starting to sink. What's even worse is that I've been trying to reach them by phone and email to get this addressed--and I've heard nothing back. It's extremely frustrating to be left with a failing job and no way to get in touch with the company that did it. I expected better quality and at the very least, some accountability. read more

Do not use this company -- these guys are sophisticated scam artists who prey on the elderly! They go door-to-door, don't write contracts, are not insured or bonded, and insist that checks are written out to third parties. Despite what their trucks and business cards say, they don't have a website, no Instagram, no Facebook, and won't allow customers to take their photos. They upsell you for other work before current work is complete, and ask for more money while your yard is destroyed and they have you at a disadvantage. If you don't pay all their "extra" charges, you'll be stuck with a disaster that Amtek won't return to complete. Part of their con is flirting shamelessly with lonely, elderly women and then during the come-on, ask for more checks for supplies that have already been paid for many times over. These guys canvassed our neighborhood ignoring the "no soliciting" signs, ringing doorbells, and stuffing their business cards into doors. I can't imagine what it must be like to do business with a company that does not listen to the customer and ignores the simplest of requests. read more

I tried to request a consultation and their representative said they were too busy, had too much work and weren't interested in any more projects. The manner in which they voiced this was rude and dismissive. They didn't bother to ask what the scale of my project was or what I was interested in. I understand just about every good contractor is busy, but they can at least give folks some courtesy of saying we're 6 months out or 12 months out etc. not just write people off without a second thought. read more

I contracted them to replace my subsiding concrete stareway to the basement including the part of the sidewalk from the stairs to the deck, replace the drain with a larger drain. fill the subsiding for $7500 on August 4th (in a written contract). August 6th the sales guy returned and talked me into replacing the curved part of the sidewalk from the deck to the driveway for another $3250 (although nothing was put in writing for the additional work). He also asked for a deposit so I gave him a $4000. 10th-12th a single guy arrived each day averaging about 3 hours each day with hand tools and started tearing out the sidewalk. brought a second guy for 2 hours on the 11th and a jackhammer on the 12th. He clogging the drain at the bottom of the stairs with debris as well as breaking the drainage pipe. Putting a hole in the house wall and putting another hole in the retaining wall. That evening I snaked out the drain so it would flow again. 13th he arrived again around 1:30pm with a bobcat to remove the broken out concrete The bobcat broke down and he left with his broken down bobcat on my stairwell. 14th Had a light rain so I went down in the hole affixed the top of the drain back on the pipe covering the break. 15th the sales guy returned He told me the concrete would take at least another week so he "offered" to use pavers. I told him I don't care, he then "offered" me a deal of only an extra $1500 for the pavers. I refused and told him I didn't want pavers but was willing to accept the pavers to get the job done. I also asked when they would get back to work and he told me 2 days. He tried to talk me into replacing the front sidewalk too. I refused. I let him know I was getting tired of his trying to upsell me and that the single workman had only been here around 3 hours each day. He said they (plural) had been here all day. He then informed me he would do it for the agreed upon price with the pavers. Then tried to get me to give him $3000 cash so that he could pay for the pavers "cash on delivery". I let him know "you already have been given a $4000 down payment you can use that for the cash for the pavers". He agreed and we left it there. I decided to keep a log of their activities. 16th around 3:20pm a repairman came by for the bobcat and after about an hour he left . Later it started raining and the mud where the stairs had been started flowing down to the bottom of the stairwell, clogging the drain cover (which I am so glad I duct taped back on). So I stayed down there in the rain keeping the drain clear of mud so the pipe would drain, not clog again and flood my basement. 17th at 8:40am a man came and drove the bobcat away. At 11:10 the workman that did the demolition arrived took the jackhammer and left. Sales guy arrived at 6:00pm to tell me the framing will be done tomorrow and that he got the concrete, it would be done 23rd. 19th 3:20 Sales guy stopped by to say they were going to do cleanup in about a half hour then framing tomorrow and asked to put another thousand on the credit card tomorrow after the framing was done. No one showed for cleanup. 20th 11:20 4 workmen started framing. I had to remind them of the shape between the sidewalk to the driveway they were going to box it off rectangular and leave an area of exposed ground between the sidewalk and the driveway. 22nd a workman arrived to grind off the broken drain pipe and install a new drain. (I thought he had just put in a connector for the new drain because it was small) 23rd workmen arrived 10am and started laying the cement, when done they took some framing and told me they would get the rest later. At that time I saw the drain was the same size as the one that was removed. 24th the sales guy arrived for payment of the balance due. I told him they still needed to clean up the spilled concrete and remove the rest of the framing and noted the drain size. He told me that was the largest they could get (bullshit). He said he would send a guy around tomorrow and that the guy would also remove the dirt piles under the deck, He also again asked for the balance due. I paid (I knew with his reliability I might have to do the cleanup myself.) 25th I called to ask when the guy that was going to remove the framing would be here. The guy on the phone asked who I was (which they had never asked before I had paid) and said he would contact the guy and he would be by later today. No one arrived so I have been removed the framing/spilled concrete myself. 27th Started the cleanup and saw they walked a wheel burrow of concrete slurry through my yard spilling the entire way leaving a concrete powder trail through the grass to the corner of the yard where they dumped the slurry leaving a bubbling pile of concrete about 3 feet round in the corner of my yard and on the fence having to take a sledge hammer to that to remove it trying not to damage the fence in removing it. read more
