Delicious food! Great service and fair prices! My very picky family all loves eating here! It's our go to place!

Dined with a friend on a Friday around 3:30 p based on a friend's raving reviews. Had a hard time finding the restaurant at first because it's tucked slightly back from the coffee shop next door. Started with tap water with lemon for drinks. Appetizers: Spanakopita (one triangle) was luke-warm and spinach tasted like frozen spinach vs. fresh. Lemon Chicken Soup was very lemony but luke-warm like the spanakopita, both would have been better hot. Lunch specials are available until 2:30 p so we ordered entrees to share: A shrimp and grass fed beef steak tips over rice pilaf and the Psari-Sto-Filo (haddock and a creamy cheese in filo dough, both served with a side salad. The salads arrived fairly quickly following our appetizers. A fairly good size based on a side salad accompanied by two warm herb house made pita wedges. Dressing was tasty but a bit too much for our taste. Steak tips were ordered medium rare and came well done (my friend was not pleased at all but didn't bother to comment or send them back). Tips were tender but would have been more enjoyable if not cooked so well. Shrimp were mediocre, nothing to rave about. Rice pilaf had a spicy kick to it. I enjoyed the Psari-Sto-Filo but my friend didn't like it at all as it was too cheesy for her liking. Very filling due to the cheese. Overall tab including tip $52. Our server was lovely, attentive and friendly as were the other staff that were behind the counter. Glad we tried it but would probably not make the drive out of the way to come again. read more

Meh... not as good as it use to be... Told waitress Im gluten free. Was served salad with pita on top then the soup came, assumed it was rice and later found out it was pasta. Salad was wilted, maybe 1/2 a teaspoon of feta... really? 1/2 a teaspoon? Shrimp and chicken breast were good. Steak was great. Vegetable skewer had zero flavor. Rice was okay. We ate here about five years ago and never forgot about it. Came from Massachusetts, driving through, wanted to stop by since we had such delicious memories of this place. Coming into Derry you don't think there's such a scrumptious little Greek place squirreled away in a shopping center that hides this little gem. The staff who work there are all friendly and are willing to guide you through the menu should you not know exactly what you may want to try other than a Gyro (which is tasty as hell (btw)). The food at Amphora is excellent, but the restaurant itself leaves a lot to be desired. It has more of a takeout feel to it, with a limited number of tables and a sterile feel to the place. My husband and I shared the saganaki and spanakopita to start. The saganaki was delicious and the spanakopita was pretty good as well. There was a plentiful amount nice fresh pita bread that came with the saganaki. For dinner I had the gyro plate and my husband had the combination grill. The meat in my dish was incredible. I cannot recommend enough. The rice itself was standard, as was the side salad that came out prior to the entree. My husband enjoyed his dish as well. We shared the baklava for dessert. It was very good, but we honestly didn't have much because we were full from all of the other food we had ordered. In summary, Amphora has a lot of great food to offer. I wouldn't let the strip mall location deter you from visiting. read more

I have to start off by saying that I do love their food. However, they are not following health guidelines to minimise the spread of Covid19. Their waitresses are not wearing any kind of face mask or gloves to serve food. This is simply reckless and shows a lack of care and concern for the well-being of customers and their safety. Good, not great. The saganaki was not flaming. It was tasty nonetheless. The spanakopita was good but greasy. I had the mousaka lunch special. It was completely burnt at the bottom of the dish and lacking flavor. The rice was bland. The house salad was average and much of the lettuce had started to brown on the edges. My friends had the beef kabob lunch special. They said it was good. Nothing was fantastic, so I'm not sure I'll be going here again. Disappointing after hearing so many rant and rave about it. The food is always amazing. The staff is super friendly, and accommodating. It is a quaint, yet beautiful space. Also super clean.

I love this restaurant, except for today. My sister and I decided that this would be the first restaurant we'd visit when we were out of lock down from the pandemic. We decided a slow Monday would be perfect. We found the outdoor seating well spaced and we chose a table away from people. We were also celebrating my sister getting a clean CT scan, after having cancer surgery 2 years ago. We love the food here and we were really looking forward to a delicious lunch. The server gave the menus to us and I noticed that she had her mask around her chin. When she came back to the table she still did not have her mask pulled up. We both had masks on. As we backed away we asked politely if she'd pull it up, she tried but the mask was not secured and it fell. We reluctantly gave our orders, we were hoping she'd fix the mask, but we observed her interacting w other people and she still did not fix it. It was then we both decided to leave. I went to the door to tell the waitress that we were cancelling our order, we'd just put the order in. Our server was standing w two other servers by the register, again her mask was around her neck, and she was standing very close to them. I told her we were cancelling our order and that my sister had a compromised immune system and we felt uncomfortable with a waitress with no mask. She looked at me and snickered and there was no apology. We left and called the restaurant and asked for the owner, he was not available, the person on the other end said she'd send the message. We told her what occurred. We have not heard back. So we wish things were different, because I've been going here since the restaurant opened and have brought in many new customers. I don't recommend this place until they have all servers practicing safety for the customers and for themselves. PS ..the other servers were wearing masks that covered their faces. read more

As a local, my opinion is that Amphora is one of the best restaurants that Derry has to offer for lunch and dinner. The food has always been consistently fresh and perfectly seasoned. On my most recent visit, the service was outstanding. My friend, who was coming to join me, was a running behind because of a recent injury/crutches. The waitress was very accommodating and happily took her order ahead of time (communicated to me via text). Amphora never disappoints! Don't miss out on the baklava cheesecake! read more

I have been wanting to try Amphora for a while. Last year my husband stopped in just to pick up some baklava and they were letting him try samples and even gave him some soup for free to take home to try. Tonight I decided it was time to try some take-out from Amphora. I ordered the Antipasto Mediterranio with chicken. OMG!!! Sooooo delicious! The chicken is perfectly cooked. It is so moist and flavorful. The pita bread is so good. I will definitely be getting food from here again. My husband said that when he went to pick up the food everyone there was so friendly, from the waitress to the cooks. You just don't get service like that at many places anymore. read more

super disappointed I was looking forward to having a haddock dinner from Amphoras in Derry... it had been so good in the past.... the waitress brings it to the table and it's burnt to a crisp burnt black and they expected me to eat that I don't think. I can't even believe that they brought it to the table. So send it back told her just take it off the bill cuz Kathy already had her meal. Seriously you don't serve somebody burnt food especially at the prices they're charging. The waitress was apologetic but that didn't feed me did it. Good tho g I ordered calamari for an app.... cost me $18 for calamari and to go home hungry thank you so much Amphoras for keeping my calorie count lower for the day read more

Lamb gyro is amazing but unfortunately the staff was quite rude when I went in to pick it up.

I would tile this "just ok" if the reviews had a subject line. Our waitress was fabulous! The food was lackluster. The gyro had no flavor, the hummus was watery. The martini was weak. And they really should have heaters for outdoor seating, it was freezing. I didn't have high expectations going in, considering it's in a strip mall. We love this restaurant! The staff are all exceptionally friendly, and very welcoming and helpful. The food is fabulous, and the fried calamari in particular is some of the best calamari I've ever had. They make their own Greek seasoning blend which you can buy to take home, and it's excellent. You wouldn't think a restaurant in the middle of a strip mall would be this great, but it really is! Highly recommend. read more

Your calamari was the texture of rubber. The breading on the squid was soggy... I wasted my money eating here.

I was greeted upon entry and asked if I had been there before. I said I had not. With that, the owner Peter had samples of different dips, pita bread and chicken lemon soup brought to me. All of their homemade dips were scrumptious. I ordered a combination chicken and vegetable souvlaki over their rice pilaf. It came with a side Greek salad. And, I got a side of tzatsiki and spiced pita. Needless to say, I ate dinner, there's enough left from my souvlaki to feed my man when he gets home AND lunch for tomorrow. Went for lunch the other day after hearing really good reviews from friends and I was not disappointed. The service was very attentive and quick. The food was really delicious. We got tzatziki for an app and it was very good, the grilled pita were nicely spiced, but a little limp. I got the Thracian chicken lunch and the chicken was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The salad that accompanied it was a generous portion and the dressing, oh my god the dressing. I'd drink that dressing from the bottle, which they also conveniently sell. This is such a quaint spot in a plaza, cozy, inviting, and even Greek music playing making you feel like you are visiting a Greek friend in his home. We met the owner Peter who came over to great us and heard it was our first visit. He sent over a sauce sampler and eggplant fritters for us to try, which all had its own unique flavors. We ordered the hummus and avgolemeno soup (perfect), lamb shank with lemon potatoes (lamb came right off the bone)and side salad with the house dressing. You cannot find authentic Greek food at such a reasonable price. Oh, they have Greek wines, a 603 on tap, coffee frappes and even offer seasonal outdoor seating. I feel embarrassed to say that I haven't yet reviewed Amphora, despite the fact that we've eaten there so often. In fact, I think my wife and I have enjoyed a late lunch/early dinner there every one of the last 4 weekends. Let's get the cons out of the way. The outdoor dining area isn't exactly the Garden of Eden. But it's shaded, comfortable enough and the service is good. In a state (NH) that offers a dearth of decent al fresco dining, It'll do. The menu is standard upscale quality Greek, with all of the Usual Suspects. But hey, that's what we came for, right? Pros? Service is always good, though we've never had the same waitress twice. Décor and comfort, good. Food? Aways good to very good, without exception. We're still working our way through the menu, but salads, sandwiches and old school standards like Moussaka always on target. Fried eggplant appetizer exceptional! We'll try more of the heartier dishes in the fall. Value? We regularly walk away with smiles, full bellies and a bill substantially smaller than most other restaurants charge. Nuff' said! read more

I've experienced far better Greek food. My dad and I usually just come for the calamari, which is a good fix in the area if you're craving it. I tried the psari sto filo and it's more filo dough than fish. The eggplant sto fourno needs more eggplant - the flavor is strongly peppers and onions. Rates as a true hidden gem. Perfect place for a pre-Tupelo Music Hall dinner. (Especially if you have tickets for a non-table show and you don't want to eat out of your lap.). Just a 5-minute drive. And are you vegetarian? Plenty here. Authentic Greek food obviously lovingly prepared. And the waitresses are the best. We shared the saganaki which came to the table piping hot. The bread is delicious. And the Dolmades are vegetarian and fabulous. We had the veggie kabob and the haddock in filo--both great. I was so disappointed by my recent visit to Amphora. I love this restaurant and have been several times. Last week, I explained to the server that I am highly allergic to a couple things and asked that she check the pita bread ingredients for me. She returned and said that the pita bread did not have these ingredients. I became very ill that night and for the next two days and required medical attention. I called the manager two days after my visit, and he sent me an image of the ingredients label, and the precise ingredient I told the server I was highly allergic to was listed. I asked the manager if anything could be done. He was nice, but he told me that I should have asked a manager and not the server to check on the ingredients during my visit to the restaurant. This felt as if he was blaming me for asking the server rather than the manager. I would hope that the servers are equipped to deal with questions such as information regarding food sensitivities. I really am disappointed in how this was handled both because the server did not read the label carefully and because the manager did not take responsibility or offer me anything for their error and the two days I spent very ill. I won't be returning which makes me sad as I liked the restaurant. I can't feel good about giving them my money though. Also, the pita bread is very processed and contains many ingredients I would never consume. They could and should do better. read more
