We've been fans of this restaurant for years. After a few months of not going in, we had about an hour to run out and hv a quick dinner while our 95yo father was being treated for a health issue. We were looking forward to enjoying a stress free dinner. We realized things had changed after seeing the menu. Little did we know that a LOT of things had changed! Franco, the owner had sold the restaurant and not only was service horrible (45 minutes for SUBS) the food was not great as before. I was a fan of the real Italian Beef Sub, I received a sub with tasteless dried beef and no taste. The HOUSE wine I ordered was $10 for a 1/2 glass! C'mon, give me a break! This is PawPaw MI, not Kazoo or GR! I'm sorry, as a former restaurant employee i do want to see a place succeed, but when I asked to speak with the manager, the owner sent the same person out saying they would speak with our server, he was the "newby"!! I said it wasn't him it was the entire experience. We won't go back! FYI - The PP Wine and Harvest Festival is in 10 days, they better get in gear if they want to succeed. read more

Heard from several people that the lunch buffet was worth trying. When I got there, there was half a Hawaiian pizza, and a chicken bacon ranch pizza. The former had been under the heat lamp a bit and was kind of dry, the latter was pretty fresh. By the time I finished the two slices, they had run out of pizza, so I grabbed a salad and waited. And waited. And waited. Some time later, a single pizza arrived at the buffet. Now I'm not looking for this place to put out so much food that it goes to waste, but pizza is the only hot food at the buffet, so the stream of food should be pretty constant, but was not. I should dock a star for this, but I won't. Now the salad selection was decent. I noted that they used fresh mushrooms in the salad bar, but canned mushrooms for the pizza. Unfortunately, knowing they use canned mushrooms for their pizza prevents me from ever ordering pizza from this place, and caused me to dock a star. No 5 star pizza place uses canned mushrooms on their pies! Will I come back? Probably, but I don't think I'll make a point of it. read more

The first time I tasted pizza from this restaurant I was in Paw Paw with my daughter and grandson. We were searching for something different to eat. We discovered Amore Pizza and decided to go to this place and order pizza and wings. We met the owner and enjoyed his kindness and hospitality. The pizza was fresh and delicious. The chicken wings were freshly made and everything was so tasty and delicious. I had promised myself whenever I visit that area of Michigan I would once again enjoy the food. I am back in the area and I placed an order for pickup. I was very disappointed after receiving the pizza. It was totally screwed up and by the time I discovered the dilemma they had already closed. I did not have time to call Amore Pizza because we left early the next morning to go camping in the lower part of the peninsula. I hope the young lady that took my order gets it right the next time because missing items on a pizza is undesirable and a deal breaker for me. read more

Completely unimpressed. Very disappointed. The food was mediocre, I ordered the chicken salad and it was plain lettuce mix from a bad with a few tomatoes and some chicken. How things can change, over the years. Today was, well... not the best of days, and some good, hot italian food just sounded like one of the things to make any and all of us feel better. I mean, let's face it- there's something about a belly full of warm food that gets you to relax and pass out on the couch when nothing else possibly could, yeah? On the other hand, though, what we got left a bit to be desired... We put in a pretty sizable order- enough to keep us in food for hopefully at least a day- a large pepperoni, an artichoke and chicken stromboli, some bruschetta, ziti and a Chicago-style pizza that just hit all the right notes in my mind. I was really looking forward to this one, oh yes. I consider a Chicago-style pizza to be right up there with the rack of barbecue ribs and the cheeseburger as foods I never try to pass up. So we put in the order, and it'll be about an hour for delivery- that's understandable, because it's about rush hour, and they're getting hit with the afterschool and afterwork crowd, and it's a good hunk of food. I figure most of the waiting is going to be the Chicago-style pizza, because those things take forever to cook, anyways. Finally, the food gets here, and... well, we get a harbinger of how things are going to go- the bruschetta that was ordered wasn't included in the delivery, so the driver had to run all the way back to Paw Paw and bring it. Things seem okay, but then I come out, expecting to see a nice, tasty deep-dish pizza that might not be as good as something from Pizzeria Uno or Lou Malnati's or Giordano's, but it's hot and local and it must be mine! I pop open the box and... huh. That's... that's not a Chicago-style pizza of any variation- it's certainly not a deep dish, and it's definitely not a tavern-style. It honestly just looks like... a regular pizza, with a thick crust, that looks like it's just been baked to absolute blazes with an extra-done crust that's by now already solidified into a solid block of dry, burnt dough- the cheese and sausage are the same way. It was incredibly hard to bite through, and about the only really edible part was the inner two thirds of the crust that had the sauce on it. I gave up after about the equivalent of one and a half slices- it's too much work for not really enough food, and after struggling with it, I just throw in the towel. This pizza just is not edible unless your name is Jaws and you work for a Bond villain or you're willing to gnaw on it until you can bite through it and crunch it up. On the other hand, though, the ziti and the stromboli are both big hits with the rest of the family, and the pepperoni pizza is pepperoni pizza- it's good and tasty and fine just the way it is, and the bruschetta goes over very well even after they had to run all the way back to Paw Paw for it. When weighing everything together- the inedible pizza, the forgotten bruschetta, and on the opposite side the actually good food that they did bring... I say it averages out to a three, right in the middle. Maybe it's just a bad night, maybe this is just that dish the kitchen can't manage to do very well. I just miss the old Amore's where the food was awesome and that's all that was needed. We'll give it another try in a while, but it's looking like your best bet for pizza in Paw Paw is going to be Pizza Hut for a good while. read more

We order a wet burrito, chicken Alfredo, fried Mac n cheese, and "deep dish pizza" All of the above listed items were decent but the so called "deep dish pizza" was not a deep dish pizza, it almost tasted like a thick crust, pre made pizza. I'm sure the regular pizza is decent but the deep dish was not great. Also noticed while we were in thereX that the tip jar was for the cooks only. I noticed that the hardest working person in there was the lady who rang us up and gathered our food for us. I asked to tip her and she said she's not allowed to take tips. Excellent, great service. This is a long review but necessary to explain how it was I came to eat at Amores. Three weeks ago I went into La Cantina's early Saturday evening and I was surprised to see an abundance of wait staff. I sat down and order baked lasagne at 15.95 and a cherry coke and was surprised to learn the meal was served with nothing extra. no salad, no bread nothing. I was told those items had to be ordered ala-carte. I received my drink and a refill approximately 5 minutes later. That was the last I heard from my waitress for at least 20 minutes. I still hadn't received my meal and no feedback from my waitress. I had to ask another waiter for the guest wifi password and was unable to connect. I waited another 5-10 minutes and left $4 on the table to pay for my drink and left. The service was bad and even though I never got to eat the meal, $16 for lasagne and no sides is an abomination. I grew up and live in Elkhart County, IN where Italuan food was front and center. Nicky D, Minelli and Poor Tony would be rolling over in their graves to think a supposedly genuine Italian restaurant would treat their patrons to half a meal. I went to Amores, ordered ravioli for 10.99 and got a very nice salad with lots of veggies AND garlic bread. I was told up front it would be a 25 minute wait and had my food in front of me within 15 minutes. By the way it was delicious. She over charged us, wasn't paying attention when we gave the delivery address sending the driver to another town causing our food to be late, then it was sent without the extra's our meals came with, causing the driver to have to make a second trip. The manager did apologize as well as the driver (the lady at their counter answering phones didn't really care about any of our frustrations.). Finally get a chance to eat my salad & most of it was old lettuce under the toppings. The amount of $ we all spent wasn't worth this hassle. This place's Italian food is boss! Probably because an actual Italian man owns it. And he's in the kitchen cooking up your food along with his employees; which just goes to show you that your food is legit Italian. None of that Pizza Hut/Little Caesar's stuff here. They have a wide selection of Italian food and hot sub sandwiches. They even have a little section with Mexican food that consists of various types of wet burritos and nachos/salsa & chips. And they have tiramisu and cannolis for dessert. I've been here a couple times with my family and we always get a pizza to split. This last time we got a custom made pizza and it was delicious. Just the way fresh, homemade pizza is supposed to taste. What more could you ask for? read more

The food wasn't bad, the lasagna was great, as were my kids choices of fettuccine alfredo and manicotti. Here's what my issue was, the service was awful. We were seated for 15 minutes before I finally had to find someone to serve us. I get Friday nights are busy, but this was well before there was a rush. The owner tracked our server down who came to our table, only to leave because she forgot her pen and paper. She had zero enthusiasm for her job that night, zero engagement. I should clarify that including our table, it looked like she only had two tables to wait on, two side by side tables. If you are a server I can assume that tips are your livelihood, act like it and treat the people that are there like they are not a burden. read more

Found and tried Amore last week. Everything was great. I really liked that you had to order online to get order correct. Pizza was great. We live 10 miles away. We tried them for second time tonight 6/25/21. Chose deluxe no mushroom. Again verified order by ordering on line. We get home and pizza full of mushrooms. I understand things happen. I am a service manager at an automotive dealership. I deal with unexpected things daily. I call to discuss with manager on duty and get someone who says "um" every other word and manager is not available. No matter what I say and willing to hold I am unable to discuss with a manager. This place looks like a standard hole-in-the-wall pizza place and the menu offers the grinders, pizza, and pasta dishes you'd expect. When the food came, it was delicious and high-quality. We ordered bruschetta and caprese salad appetizers and I had lasagna. Everything was great! My aunt's homemade sausages were yummy. At one point, the owner/chef came to our table to check on us and my cousin practiced her Italian on him. Ooh, they recently got a liquor liscence so they can serve beer and wine. I've eaten here twice now and I have't been impressed. I stopped on the way home from Benton Harbor a few months ago and got a pizza sub. It ok. The bread wasn't bad, but the pizza sauce tastes like it right out of the can. It lacks any zest or punch. I was there a week or so ago for the buffet. It's small, but a decent price for the selection. Again, had some pizza and again wasn't impressed with the sauce. I like the Sicilian style crust, but that was all that I liked. The mac and cheese was just kinda bland for me. The salad was ok, but nothing to write home about. I'd be willing to give it one more shot and try some pasta or something else there. I'll stick with other pizza joints for now. If I want Italian food, I'll stick to Mangia Mangia or La Cantina. The parking lot is kinda small and not the easiest place to get out of. read more

GREAT Sicilian Pizza - get the sausage, its a specialty. The wet burrito is pretty amazing too. Prices are good for good food. They have karaoke Tuesday's and Thursday which is fun. Sports bar in one side. Typical little family pizza place on the other side. The owner is often onsite - he's a great guy. Been here twice. Last time we were there took about 15 minutes to put our order in and another 40 to be told that our order was never inputted into the system. I figured that was the case as I saw tables after us continue to get their food. I tried to have compassion for the waitress as she seemed flustered and genuinely embarrassed at the situation but I saw other tables not getting their food in a timely manner either. It was a bit busy and there seemed to not be enough wait staff but they also were not very attentive either. There are better options out there. We ended up going next door to La Cantina which was much more timely, better ambiance, a bit more expensive, but very tasty food. read more

Decent food, and they've now expanded to include a "sports bar" in the adjacent room, the best part of which is the oldtimer country and western karaoke on Tuesdays. Have had mixed results trying to order vegan food here--on at least three separate occasions I've ordered something without cheese and received cheese on the food anyway. Pizza is pretty good, not amazing; calzones (which they call Stromboli), likewise. Maybe our favorite thing to order is the Eggplant Parmesean sandwich (without cheese, just with the marinara sauce), the breaded and fried eggplant is quite tasty. Parking is kind of awkward alongside the building and in an adjacent lot. Atmosphere leaves something to be desired, service is ok. Although I've often seen the owner there, I've not received the "warm fuzzy hospitality" others have spoken of, unless it comes in the form of extra cheese lovingly applied to every single thing he sends out of the kitchen. :) read more

Very bad experience! My wife and I went there for dinner and ordered a couple take home pizzas for the kids. Dinner was slow, they forgot to bring out my wife's salad and we had to remind them we had ordered it. The dinner lasagna was okay at best. When got home one of the take out pizzas was totally wrong. When I called in to explain the person who answered the phone said I would need to speak with the manager. Then some how the call was dropped. I called back a second time and was put on hold for several minutes until I got a recording asking me to leave a message. Needless to say I won't be going back. read more
