Ah Papa Petes. Certainly a bar scene made more appealing to a younger (21-30) crowd (in my opinion) Being 30, I felt like I fit in but I didn't feel like I could keep up! I love that they have cheap drinks (around $3-4 each) and cheap personal sized pizzas with prices ranging depending on how many toppings. Goth night for NYE was quite fun. Before arriving I was concerned with what type of music would be played but when I arrived, I can say it was a well balanced mix of angsty dance music that is NOT anything like pop culture dance. It was more up my alley since I am an emo kid at heart! I also came here once before and watched a metal band perform The crowd was as expected (mosh pits) but nothing out of control. I recommend if you are more into dark, heavy, music as both times I have been there, this is the theme. Nice to know there's options more than just sell out dance pop music! read more

Goth Night with the best friend was definitely a success. We refused to let bad weather deture us and I am glad we didn't. Tasty drinks, loud music and plenty of space to dance. I may not be Gothic myself but I spent my formative years of middle and high school all my friends were. My mom always asked if I was embarrassed to be around them in public and my response was always 'why?'. I myself was the Green Goth because I always wore green. I felt very at home surrounded by black outfits and studded necklaces while dancing to metal. Can't wait for the next event. read more

I love there pizzas and they have great drinks ! wonderfil bar tenders ! I feel like this is one of the best secret, but not too secret, pizza places around. When I'm feeling like I want a quick, inexpensive, and oh so deliciously cheesy pizza pie I give Papa Pete's a call. I'm not sure if the older gentleman I often pick the pizza up from is the owner, but I absolutely love his service. My first time picking up from him he asked me if I had tried their hot sauce made in-house, I had not, so he insisted on sending a container of it home with me and the pie on the house. While Papa Pete's may be a dive bar, the entertainment is nearly always a hit. Big names with big crowds are drawn here. They host a Salsa dance night, DJ Open decks, Metal bands, Jam bands, Folk artists, and a lot of Electronic music artists. The pizza is fantastic especially for the price. While the place could use a good cleaning, that's really the only downside. Papa Petes is trash. It seems to be popular to the student ghetto crowd though, which tends to be drugged up anyways. The place is filthy inside, outdated, and smells horrible. I've had the pizza once, it wasn't bad. It just worries me what's going on in the kitchen since the actual bar is so filthy. If you are not a hipster and want to have some drinks in a place that doesn't stink, and isn't filled with stinky people. Just go to Harvey's which is right down the street.
