Pizza King is one of my favorite pizza places in Kalamazoo area. Takeout and Cash only, every pizza seems to take 20 minutes and the service is Midwest friendly. Been getting pizza here for over 45 years, and in my opinion, it's the best in the Kalamazoo area. We have a tradition that when we're on vacation, we always stop here on the way home and get a pie to take home. I've t pizza in many other states, but we always say no one can beat the "King". We've been here so many times that all we have to do is tell them our name and they know what we want, sausage, mushroom, black olive. If you haven't tried Pizza King, you should. I believe this pizza has been the same since I was four. Today I brought in my almost four-year-old granddaughter to get her first Pizza King pie. She LOVED it! She ate two whole pieces of a large. The crust is always crispy and just lightly charred. Pepperoni and sausage are greasy in a good way: they don't make the crust soggy, nor does the grease actually drip, but there's enough for a perfect mouth feel. So I have got the best coworkers, a group of people who when they get their minds together, you can figure out almost anything and you're all the better for it. One afternoon, I asked of my trusted group where could I find the best pizza in town. I was promptly given the name of Pizza King and at first was quite skeptical. Our team knows me quite well. I'm a Jersey kid who married a New Yorker, if combined the two of us knew nothing else, we would for certain know pizza. New York-style pizza might not be your cup of tea, but for us, it's all we know, and I was told this was the closest we would get to it in the area. So I called and was reminded to bring cash, and so I made sure I had a date with an ATM to get some. I whisked over and walked into the suspicious site. There wasn't too much activity upon first look, and then I took it all in. There's standing room only, heat and some truly talented people focused on the many tasks at hand. I began to gush because I loved how much like home it was. Simple. No-nonsense. Just three smiling faces and delicious smells lingered throughout the place. The oven was hot with multiple pizzas being prepped. My hubs looked it over, and we were almost convinced we had made the right decision, and then we got home for our bi-monthly (every 2 months) pizza&doughnut night (don't judge). New York-style pizza is pizza made with a large hand-tossed thin crust. It's usually thick and crisp along its edges, yet soft, and thin. Pliability is essential. Folding to eat pizza on the go is a way of life. Even the people NOT on-the-go are in a hurry back home, so pizza must have these characteristics. It hit each of the criteria, texture-wise, and the taste was perfect. It was somewhere between $17-18. We got a large overall pepperoni and mushrooms for my side of it, and I have not been happier with pizza on this side of Michigan. If this is the style of pizza you like, this is the best place in town to get it. Go get some, right freaking now, and don't forget the CASH people. read more

Its decent pizza at a decent price however, I dont get the hype around it on Yelp. Their crust is doughy and flulffy but not crispy around the edges. Then to open it up and pick up a slice for every topping to fall completely off of the paper thin, limp pizza. Ha. Chanel prices and Walmart quality. 100% would not recommend.
