Amina Thai is on point, and definitely far, far better than the abundant standard Thai restaurants in the area. We started with the roti canai (I know, I know - not Thai! But still - fantastic). The shrimp pot is extraordinary - shrimp, rice noodles, lots of basil, and a hint of spice - as are the drunken noodles which have that delicious caramelized taste. Pretty disappointed. Ordered Gai Kua & Drunken Noodles with tofu. If you want to get 90% noodles with a smattering of protein and zero vegetables then this might be a good fit for you. Flavor profile was fine. But really? They can't put more than just a few pieces of tofu in their dish? And the gai kua - drunken noodles on a tiny bed of iceberg lettuce. This is by far the best Thai food in the area. The pad Thai is amazing and has a great level of spice and the shrimp is cooked to perfection. They have excellent service whether you are dining in or picking up. They are also on Uber eats and DoorDash if you need delivery! I order here all the time & never disappoints! read more

One of my regular spots! Super cute and well-decorated establishment in downtown silver spring. I've tried many of their dishes and they have been excellent--my favorite being their Drunken Noodles. It's one of my go-to spots to take friends who visit the area. It's also halal, making it convenient to not have to worry about the meat. They have an adorable prayer space in the back too (there's a sign at the front desk that reminds you) if you're there during prayer times and need to pray. Service is super friendly, and the chef even came out once to ask how the food was. read more

We recently ordered Grubhub delivery from here. I normally get Pad See Ew from Thai places because I'm a creature of habit. I noticed that the Drunken Noodles were also wide, flat noodles, but spicy. It was delicious and spicy. I was so surprised!The noodles were the right amount of chew and bite. When it got too picante for me, I would throw in a bit of white rice to cut the heat. The portion was so huge I cut it in half for lunch the next day, but if I had more will power, I could have cut it in thirds.Regardless, I would definitely order this again. read more

We have been to this place many times now. The food is good. The noodles are the best things there, the curries not so much.

So I've been to the location in Rockville before. This one is much larger and a bit more upscale. The Thai iced tea is just the right concentration and perfectly sweet. The chicken satay was good but not mind blowing. Both the drunken noodles and pad Thai were delicious, although the pad Thai wasn't as spicy as we thought it'd be when we asked for spicy. It's great to have legit halal Thai, and I do hope they expand closer to Baltimore. I'd absolutely return and would bring others. read more

Came here on a whim last night with a friend. As soon as we came in we felt very welcome, service was great from the moment we came in until we left (we left right around closing, but they never pressured us to hurry up throughout the night). I was going to get my usual tum yum soup and he was going to get his pad thai, but i was feeling hungrier than usual and instead opted for the pad see ew (sp?). Anyways, I'm so glad I did! I've had plenty of thai, and the quality of this place is unquestionable...I can't say the same for most places. Maybe it has something to do with this place being halal. Both of our dishes had tons of flavor, and my friend's pad thai came with a lemon slice which was never offered at other thai restaurants but was so amazing once mixed into his dish. Highly recommend both! Also--they offer a tray of spicy sauces which includes vinegar, chili flakes and what i faintly remember as fish sauce? I'm not sure. Whatever, that's not important. What is important is that you try everything on the tray! Each option went so well with both the pad see ew as well as the pad thai. Definitely will be back! Totally fine, certainly not the best Thai you can get in silver spring but good in a pinch. I appreciated that they made my food spicy on request--so many Thai restaurants seem to dial it down under the (admittedly often fair) assumption that people don't know what they can handle. My nose was running, in a good way! I got drunken noodles and spicy eggplant. Eating at Amina Thai is a whole experience. The food is absolutely wonderful but the service and atmosphere keep you coming back. The owner is always around to banter with you, joke around, or scold you for some hilarious reason. It's definitely why my family requests to eat there whenever they're in town. The food comes out fairly quickly and its piping hot. You'll want to specify the spice level you want in your food to get it just right. I've enjoyed the specials, anything with wide rice noodles, and my new favorite, the pineapple yellow curry. I've also ordered delivery on a few occasions and the food came quickly and was no different than what I'd get in store, quality-wise. Being allergic to mushrooms, I double checked with the deliverer that there were none in my food and he called the chef direct to make sure! Love it! read more

I had high hopes for this Thai food given the other reviews but I am severally disappointed. I ordered delivery via Yelp and was told it would take 45 minutes, already a high estimate. When 50 minutes had passed I contacted Yelp asking for an update and they assured me the order was on its way. I then called the restaurant after another 10 minutes and they said the food was on it's way. Finally, AN HOUR AND 37 MINUTES LATER, the food was delivered. Very nice and friendly staff. I ordered to go and everything was packed nicely and ready when I walked in. Tum Kha soup was delicious and chicken pad Thai was pretty good as well. Their spicy Kaprow (chicken) wasn't very spicy or really that delicious (pad Thai and soup were better). I'm not too picky about my food so I ate everything but nothing to write home about. My go-to Thai dish is pad kaprow with tofu. I always order it as my "tester" when I visit a new Thai restaurant, but I've already tried it at their Rockville location, so I decided to try the mango red curry with tofu. I'm in trouble - I want to make this dish my new go-to but I don't think they have it anywhere else! #firstworldproblems haha. I know that there are at least 3 other Thai restaurants in the immediate area, but it's definitely worth giving Amina Thai a try.
