Came here with a rather large group to celebrate a birthday and our 1 waitress handled our group flawlessly. Everyone's orders came out so quickly and she was on top of all our shared sides and drinks. The food was a 10/10 and portions are large so it's great for sharing where you can try a bit everything. Drinks here are strong! And the cute room we were seated in was private and very quiet.
This is culture, meets cuisine meets pride. The food was so good, with some vegetarian options and a little pricey. The restaurant decor was absolutely beautiful and inviting. So was the staff. We watched the Knicks win the championship and celebrated together. It was a good time!
Hands DOWN one of the most beautiful restaurants I have ever been in, the African warrior theme is 10/10 bad ass! The food was delicious with unique flavors, the lobster omelette was amazing!! The staff were very nice. Definitely recommend making reservations. Be cute for a photo session they also have a Photo Booth.
Amina is definitely a place Philadelphia needed. My friend suggested it knowing I love some really good food and this menu absolutely did not disappoint. The food was honestly a 10 out of 10. The collard greens were so good and full of flavor, and I got the smothered turkey wings which were amazing. Definitely ask for extra gravy because that gravy is too good not to. My friend got the shrimp and cheesecake pop and the portion size was actually really solid. I also cannot forget the cheesesteak beignets because wow... such a creative idea and they were amazing. I asked for the sauce on the side and it initially came out wrong, so I had to flag someone down to fix it, but once they corrected it everything was perfect. Now the only downside for me was definitely the service. We really were not checked on much outside of taking our order and bringing drinks. Anytime we needed something like boxes, extra help, or corrections to food, we kinda had to wave down bus boys or random staff members passing by. A few more table check ins would've made the experience so much better because the food itself truly deserves top tier service. Parking can also be a little annoying, but I did notice there's a garage across the street which helps. Overall though, I absolutely loved this place and I'm so happy my friend brought me here. Even with the service issues, I would 100% come back because the food alone is worth it. I love the drawings on the wall and the place has a cute and cozy feel which we love! Also there's a Photo Booth! You have to pay but cute touch
I've been wanting to try this place since it's original opening/location some years ago. So when thinking of where to take a boyfriend for a dinner/happy hour just the town of us for his birthday, I threw this place out as an option and he went with it. The place itself is pretty clean, the darker decor a guess provides a more grown/upscale like vibe and atmosphere, and seems to be kept pretty clean. The bartender who was our server (boyfriend prefers to sit at the bar) was friendly and attentive in this service to us. Now to the most important part - the eats.... So we really enjoyed all the food we had. The Peri Peri wings were cooked pretty perfectly with a crisp outside but tender and juicy inside. We liked the concept of the Cheese steak Beignets as they did marry those two dishes well. The Mac and Cheese was doing what it's supposed to - cheesy, gooey and tasty. He wasn't the biggest fan of the tacos - think just wasn't his thing - but I liked it and that it was a different take wit the tortilla being a fried tomato. Drinks were good - the first one I ordered was ok, but my second one was exactly what I wanted! We plan to come back again for brunch and to try other dinner menu options.
I stopped in Amina for their Saturday brunch on a short trip up to Philly. We arrived when the restaurant opened, so there was plenty of seating everywhere. As soon as you walk in, there's a Photo Booth if you would like to create a memory of your time there. This place is perfect for either a brunch outing with your friends or a nice dinner with your significant other. Just aside, I love the concept that the owner has for all of her restaurants in terms of naming them after each one of her children. I think it is a wonderful concept. We were promptly greeted and seated by our server, Maria, who answered all of our questions in reference to the history of the restaurant, the owner, and the other restaurants as well is answering all of our questions about the menu, allowing us to make informed decisions about what we decided to order. She also checked on us frequently during our meal. I went with the oxtail cheesesteak omelette, which comes with toast and home fries. If you are not drinking, they do have a mocktail list which I don't remember the name of the drink itself, but it is made with ginger beer. My omelette was absolutely delicious. I cannot remember the last time I cleaned an entire plate, but here I definitely ate and left no crumbs. The omelette had plenty of oxtail in it and everything was perfectly seasoned. I am definitely adding this to my list of brunch places in Philly and I definitely want to come back here to try their dinner options as well. Highly recommend and I cannot wait to return.
Happy I got to check out Amina while visiting Philly. We stopped by for brunch one Saturday afternoon right in the middle of a ice and snow storm so it was pretty chill and laid back. I was told that it's usually jam packed and energetic but I was grateful for the calm that day. It's a beautiful and welcoming black owned restaurant. I couldn't get enough of the beautiful art and decor throughout the space that added to it's warmth and personality. Our server was sweet and accommodating which we both appreciated. I kept it simple and ordered a cheeseburger and fries and I also tried the deviled eggs. Everything was pretty good. The burger and the fries were seasoned well and tasty. The deviled eggs had a sprinkle of beef bacon on top that gave it a bust of flavor. Overall had a good time at Amina. I would love to come back and be a little more adventurous with the menu next time. lol
Food was just okay. Service was just the same. Our waiter pretended to be overwhelmed with customers but we came for an afternoon on a weekday and there were barely 6 parties and only 2 were hers. Aside from that, the restaurant itself is gorgeous.
I had no idea Amina's had changed locations! So, this is a review for the new location in Northern Liberties @ 1102 Germantown Ave. 19123. A few friends and I decided to go to Amina's for a early dinner. I was surprised to learn they had relocated from their old location in Old City. Their New location is beautiful! The decor is much more glam with a touch of ethic vibe! They have unisex bathrooms, which is something I still have to get use to, but at least with this location, it's all on the same floor. Their menu is about the same. The food is delicious, just like the last time I went. We decided to share: Sticky wings- these were very good, crispy and a little sticky but the perfect amount of crunch. 9/10 Cheesesteak Beignets: A nice ball packed with steak and cheese. 10/10 Cornbread: Nice and warm. Crisp and buttery around the edges. Pairs nicely with my meal. 9/10 I decided to try the Oxtails, with sweet potato puree, collard greens and a side of mac and cheese. You get two meaty, nice size oxtails that are fall off the bone tender 10/10. I loved the Collared greens with a slight vinegary kick to them 9/10. The Mac and cheese was delicious as well. This is a hard dish to rate, because I think mind is better, but I'll give it a 8/10! One of my friends got a Grilled Watermelon Salad. I tasted it, and surprisingly it was delicious. 9/10. One day when I need to be watching my weight more closely (which is now) I would consider getting this. The portions were good, enough to take home for another meal or to share. The wait staff was great! Very pleasant and on time with our food. The prices are fair in this high priced market. Unfortunately when I rate any place I go, I also include how convenient it is to get there. I am a driver and drive just about everywhere I go. I would not recommend driving to this location. It is very busy, and parking your car is at a minimum. They do have parking lots that you will have to pay for and walk a little ways. I would probably get a Uber next time. Other than the parking, and traffic, I would highly recommend Amina's!
Park across the street in the plaza lot if there isnt legal street parking available. Anf pay attention to the time because there is definitely someone checking license plates. We made reservations and had a shirt wait. The decor is beautiful, afrocentric. I love the big photo as soon as you walk in. Our server was attentive and paid attention to our table when we were low on drinks and simple just to check in. She was very helpful with dinner selections and overall friendly and down to earth. Drinks: Princess Warrior was good, and not to strong and Aminas crown was good also (didnt try it as I dont like passionfruit but was told it was really good). Overall the drinks were an 8. Appetizer: I was expecting a traditional shrimp taco, that is not what I received and I was a bit skeptical but after the 1st bite I was hooked. It was packed with flavor, I couldn't even tell what the shell was made of but it was something fried. The cheesesteak beignets were perfect. The beignets were nice and soft, 1st bite the cheese came out and got a nice flavorful amout of steak to go with it. The devil eggs, were also perfect, we added shrimp to oura. Felt like I was at someone's granny's house after church. Meals: Out of all the meals we all really liked the picnic basket. It really comes out in a picnic basket and this was scored 10/10. The braised Oxtails were tender, falling off the bones and had good flavor. The yams were sweet and good but definitely not what I was expecting with the Oxtails. The smothered turkey wings were good but we really liked the brussel sprouts more than anything and the salmon was good. Dessert: Vanilla ice actually came with a big ole pie. The caramelized apple spring roll was great but could've used some ice cream with it. The banana pudding was really good, old school banana pudding. Some were saying that it tasted like the bananas were caramelized with liquor. Everything here was good and has me eager to return and try their full menu.
My husband surprised me with reservations to Amina's and it did not disappoint! The ambiance is amazing. The decor was just my style. The service was exemplary, and the food just sealed the deal! Everyone in my party enjoyed their drinks and meals. The cheesesteak beignets were to die for!! Chicken wings slamming. I cannot say enough things about our experience here!
The food here is quite good, and the decor is beautiful with a great music playlist, but the service left quite a bit to be desired! Our group of 6 arrived for our reservation, and the friendly hostess was able to get our table prepped for us within an insignificant amount of time. Our server came and took our orders. After this, it all went downhill. The entrees came out piecemeal, so it was one of those things where everyone is awkwardly waiting around until everyone gets their food while your own food gets cold. On top of that, waffles came out without syrup or butter, home fries and toast came out without condiments, and our server was no where to be found so we had to flag down random employees to request condiments, silverware, or just to tell them to find our server so that we could place an order for more drinks. At one point, she brought out the bill and the entire table was confused, as no one had requested it and we still wanted to place orders for drinks and desserts. When we finally did request the bill, pay via the QR code on the receipt (which showed a $0 balance), and left, the server finally ran out of the restaurant to flag us down, claiming we still had a balance on our bill. It was the fastest I had seen her move all day. Regarding the food and drinks, I enjoyed every item I ate. The oxtail omelette was good and the collard greens are phenomenal. My drinks were also delicious. Overall, the service left a very bad taste in my mouth, and I'm not sure the food overcompensated enough to go through that again.
Amina's was able to accommodate a last minute reservation change. Artwork and ambience create a great vibe. Food was delicious and came out very quickly.
I had the opportunity to visit this black owned restaurant for Philly restaurant week and everything on the menu was delicious! We started off with the cheese steak beignets and shrimp tacos. We also ordered off the restaurant week menu and had the most savory scallops that come with a fried tomato and crème brûlée. Now the portion size was small however, it was so good we just ordered two. For the entrees we had the braised oxtails and Amish chicken very flavorful. Seasoned just right! The service was also good. We received a warm welcome from the hostess and our bartender Nadia was great! This place is small yet intimate well worth visiting! Came for the brunch specials with a friend on a Saturday...Loved the seasoning on the chicken! The waffle was pretty good as well. Definitely was a good balance of sweet and savory! And the passion fruit mimosas were just what we needed Our waitress was cool, but I really enjoyed the bartender, very personable! Didn't care for the automatic 20% gratuity as it was only 2 of us. When my Black consultants are in town to meet with the Black Director (that'd be me) about Black issues we're going Black owned every time. Every time! Amina was on every who's who in Philly list and my friend gave a glowing review on their catered orders so we went for it. Made a dinner res for 6pm on a weeknight. Let me give you the rundown: Service was great. The folks working the hosting station were fantastic and gave us the lay of the land. The vibe on the inside is kind of upscale moody, especially at the tables. Fat and Accessibility Things to Note: online I was concerned about the chairs. They appeared to be velvet with side arms. In my experience those are typically narrow in the seat but I thought there's no way a place is serving Black folks and not having seats to fit a variety of bodies and bottoms. When we got to the restaurant the seats were fine. I had room and the sides weren't rubbing against my legs. Whew! If you need something armless I would speak with someone directly beforehand. I indicated a preference for that on my reservation, but I didnt need to follow up because the chairs were OK. YMMV. The bathroom is down a steep, narrow staircase. I made it fine. My companion who has some mobility issues found it a bit more challenging. I wonder if this is the only one in the restaurant? If this setup presents a challenge for you, I'd ask before you book. The food: Good googlymoogly it makes no sense for something to be this good while also not being heavy or overly seasoned. More on that later. My friends got: -Deviled eggs -cornbread -fried chicken basket -salmon I got: -po boy cheesesteak -Brussels sprouts -called a late audible for the Mac n cheese and am so so so glad I did. My mama needs to step her game up - just sayin' All in all, we ate like kings - it legit looked like a thanksgiving spread. And we didn't get the itis after which was a win since I had to drive an hour back home to Jersey. There are a lot of internet cooks - and Yelp reviewers apparently - who say if you ain't sneezin it ain't seasoned. But my companions and I admired the restraint in the dishes because the flavors could shine through. This food was really, really good, no Kleenex necessary! read more

A friend of mine and I decided to meet up at this restaurant to get food and drinks. When I arrived the city was busy but I was lucky to find paid street parking. I walked into a busy restaurant that was small and super cute. The manager Ken walked us over to the table, and him and the host were great. Sage was our server, and she was nice. I started with the espresso martini, followed by the old fashioned and both were very good. My friend for the margarita and she enjoyed it. For our meals, I got the gumbo, and she got the turkey wings. Both dishes looked good, and both dishes tasted good. I enjoyed the gumbo flavors and the turkey flavors as well. All in all we had a good experience. The place is a little pricey but qas good. Black-owned and a good crowd. read more

On a staycation to Philly my partner and I anticipated to try the cuisine of the black own chef and I believe owner Darryl Harmon. When we walk in we're greeted with a staff that is not only friendly and hospitable but damn they're efficient. For drinks we had an Amina's crown and a twist on the French 75 ( because tequila is life). For an appetizer we had the cheesteak Beignets , we didn't know what to expect but damn it was good and FAST! For dinner I had the gumbo, it was well seasoned but there were bits that I had to eat at home like the crab legs or the colossal shrimp but if I wasn't trying to be cute, it would have been demolished right then and there!! The crab legs on top are a nice touch. My partner had the beef short rib, I had a bite it was tender and the polenta underneath was very flavorful. We had Brussels for our veggie and they were nice and crispy and seasoned to perfection. Everything went together perfectly. For our first time in Philly, what a beautiful first impression, thank you for that. PS the Dj is everything. read more

I really like this restaurant; it reminds me of a Tyler Perry movie. The music is good and the vibe is cool. We sat at the bar where the seats were comfortable but too close together that it was hard to get in and out. The servers were attentive and they actually tried and like the items on the menu. The menu items are very creative. The shrimp tacos are made with fried tomatoes as the shell, nicely flavored coleslaw, and a crispy glazed shrimp sitting on top of a sliced lime. The 3 tacos look small but they were very filling. The drink Amina's Crown could've been stronger but it tasted good. My friend got the cheesesteak beignets which were good! read more

This establishment is great for large parties but expect to pay a pretty penny. The meals aren't prices reasonable and they charge 20% mandatory tip. The playlist is also great for the real old school R&B heads. My beignets are crunchy on the outside w a perfect cheese mix. The orange cornbread butter was nothing fancy yet the added jalapeño was. Sadly, my cornbread came in a cast iron pan but was not hot. The Oxtail Mac Soufflé was creamy w no pull effect and soft yet very few pieces of oxtail. read more
The start to our visit was a little rough. We had a reservation for 8:30 and we arrived at 8:20. However, as 9pm approached we were still waiting to be seated. I will say, it was not their fault per se, but the wait was due to the popularity of the spot. I will say, the space itself intimate and there for a crowd can be hard to manage. However, eventually we were seated. As I stated, the space itself is intimate, but space itself is amazing. The decor is top notch and music is enjoyable but forces you to move in close to those around you to communicate. The service is ok. The staff seemed a little overwhelmed and our server was giving her all. Her other table kept her on a short leash. However, the food was a winner over all. The star of the table actually was the baked macaroni and cheese. Usually when we order, macaroni and cheese in a restaurant, it's usually a half notch above the "blue box", but this one was actually really good. It was kid approved and adult verified. We ordered various items and all were really good. The fried chicken, scallops, greens, cabbage, wings, but for me the star of the show were the oxtails. They were tender and full of flavor and the sweet potato purée was an amazing co-star of the dish. read more
This place is cayute! Chill, sexy and great music. Servers were awesome, attentive but chill and happy. We ordered the peri peri wings for app and they are tasty. Crisped perfectly even with sauce. Drinks (not shown) were a strong pour and wonderful. A blue something with tequila and a rum something! Dinner was ok. I enjoyed the gumbo with the ample serving of seafood. Cornbread delicious as well. Served warm and sweet, cake like cornbread (IYKYK) the chicken basket though... disappointing. Fried well, but honestly no flavor. Idk if they don't season the meat and rely on the breading but neither hit it on taste. Just bland which was surprising. Good fries though. I would return with friends for drinks and apps. I wanted to love this place. Unfortunately, it fell short. It's a beautiful space and the ambiance is very nice. I was greeted by a nice man who was seated at the bar and he escorted me to the table. I was the first to arrive for Saturday Brunch. As I waited for my friend, I viewed the menu and asked the waitress for an Espresso Martini. The drink never arrived. My friend came in maybe 10 minutes later and while he was looking over the menu, I asked for the same drink again and he also ordered a cocktail. The waitress told me she was waiting for my friend to arrive before she put my original request in. Really? Why?! We ordered 2 appetizers and entrees. The food was enjoyable. We didn't expect the Cheesesteak Nacheros to be presented with a Dorito bag on the plate; however, being a foodie I understand art and presentation. I just explained it as the Chef's artistic expression. My friend said, it was a reach lol. They only offer turkey bacon for patrons to order. They have dishes prepared with beef bacon but that's not for sale. What was truly the main turnoff is while we were sitting and finishing another round of drinks, the house lights were turned up. Staff started placing the bar stools on the bar and waitresses suddenly appeared (we had to look for ours early to make a request) with billfolds. I said, oh I guess they're putting us out. We looked at the hours on Google prior to making our reservation and it did not mention they close and re-open, as a lot of restaurants do. Had we known, we would have planned accordingly. Also, it's unfortunately when establishments automatically add a gratuity to a check. This is twofold, first, the service usually will be lacking and secondly, the customer usually suffers as a result. This was our experience. A taste of heaven!! Beyond exceptional...If you haven't been to Amina, it's time for you to go The food will give you a heavenly experience as you savor each morsel on your fork. Compliments to the chef for the right amount of flavor, texture, and presentation of each dish -- from the appetizers; sticky wings and steak and cheese beignets, to the entrees; fried chicken wings, Mac and cheese, turkey wings, sweet potato hash, Brussel sprouts, oxtails, crab fried rice and crab cake. Every dish was an awakening experience to out taste buds. Let me not forget to mention the cocktails. No disappointment there. I ordered my favorite drink, French 75 with a twist , not on the cocktail menu... to my surprise the mixologist hit it spot on, even with the garnish of elderflower. A tasteful surprise. To our server, Sage she was awesome! She didn't miss a beat... taking our order of appetizers, drinks and entree's remembering every detail of it without paper and pencil. She so much deserved our exceptional gratuity. This place is the perfect date night spot--moody, intimate, and with an ambience that's warm yet sophisticated. I absolutely loved every dish I tried. Each ingredient felt intentional and added something special to the dish. We ordered the cheesesteak beignets, candied yam purée, and the stand alone rib. The stand alone rib was the highlight for me. The meat was tender and fell right off the bone, while the fermented veggies on top perfectly cut through the richness of the meat and creamy grits. It was the perfect bite. I can't wait to visit again soon to relive that experience! read more

I recently dined here for dinner during my layover and had a good dining experience; we had a reservation so we were seated immediately. Our waitress was very pleasant and made sure to respond with a smile every time (SN: a happy waiter will elevate your experience every time. I love it!). The inside of this place is very cute and gives cultured, fine dining, and intimacy all in one. The food was great! I tried a few things, but I especially loved their Peri Peri Wings... my goodness! They have a menu worth exploring so the next time I'm in Philly, I know exactly where to go. read more

I went to Amina for brunch on a Sunday and sat at the bar. The bartender on duty was personable and attentive. The music was good and at a decent volume that still allowed for conversation. I ordered the Yard Bird & Waffle Flights, which is described on the menu as crispy chicken wings, red velvet waffles, 100% Pennsylvania maple syrup, powdered sugar. The chicken wasn't crispy and could've been better seasoned but I threw some hot sauce on it and I was fine. The waffle wasn't something I'd ever want to eat again. It just wasn't good. It was bright red, lacked red velvet flavor and was chewy. I also had a side of collard greens. The greens were seasoned with smoked turkey and the flavor of the greens was pretty good but the greens were just short of being overcooked, or they were canned. Overall, it was a decent experience and I'll likely come back, I'd just try different menu items. read more

First time visiting the new location in Northern Liberty and it was amazing! The space is so much more spacious than the Old City location was! We went on a Saturday night and there was a DJ so it was a bit loud but definitely a vibe! The service, food and drinks were great as expected! Will definitely be returning! read more

I ordered the smothered turkey wings with sweet potato hash and Brussels sprouts. The gravy on the turkey wings was really good, the sweet potato hash was ok and the Brussels sprouts were good. I really liked those. We also tried the lobster mashed potatoes. The potatoes was creamy and it just had a lobster tail on top. Nothing really fancy or where I would need to get it again. The service was very fast but it could also be because I had a reservation which was right after brunch ended. The atmosphere is nice but it's a little too dark for me. It was a bit hard to read the menu and see my food. Some people had to use their flashlight on their phone to see the menu. It's a small spot and there is a lot right across from the restaurant that charges $25 to park. Since I went on a Sunday evening I was able to park on the street along the construction where u can use park mobile app to park. That ticket was only $5 for 2 hours.My mother got the fried chicken with fries but she didn't care for it too much. She was also still hungry afterwards. I think there should be a little more lighting in the restaurant and for the portion size of some of the options to be a little bigger but hey it's just my opinion. I'd definitely suggest you make a reservation if you choose to come here as the place is small and gets crowded fast. read more
I love a good brunch! Amina was definitely checking off my brunch checklist. I would definitely recommend making a reservation if you plan on coming for brunch. The restaurant is small, but there is bar seating available. We asked our server for recommendations for what items were popular. There were so many items that we wanted to try out. We decided to try out a savory and a sweet menu item. The lobster omelette was a pretty decent size and was filled with lobster. The omelette was served with toast, and breakfast potatoes that were perfectly crispy. We also ordered the walnut fudge french toast. Although I asked for the french toast without the walnuts, the presentation was not what I had seen from other pictures. The other components of the french toast were served in small ramekin dishes fudge, fresh fruit, and whipped cream. The french toast was good, I just wished the presentation was still on point as if I did not take the walnuts off the dish. The vibe was definitely there and the staff was great. The food did not take long to come out once our order was placed which was great. The music was nice and added to the overall brunch experience. The restaurant also serves dinner which I would definitely like to come back to check out. read more
Amina was recommended by a friend when I was visiting Philly. We made reservations ahead of time and I'm glad we did, because the restaurant is booming on a Saturday night. Our server was very pleasant and helpful when trying to decide on menu items. For appetizers we got the deviled eggs with lobster (there's not much lobster on them at all), Buffalo fried okra, fried Catfish Hush puppies, and the Peri Peri Sticky Wings. For entrees, I was torn between the oxtail and the turkey wings. I was told that the turkey wings are hit of miss. We ended up getting the Braised Oxtails, Down Home Gumbo, and Grilled Lamb Lollipops. I was so stuffed, I couldn't even think about dessert. If you're looking for upscale soul food, Amina is your spot! For starters I love the staff here. And I mean EVERYONE. Our host was super helpful (and has an impeccable memory btw). I lovedddd the decor. It's super chic in there. Definitely gave the restaurant an ethnic sophisticated vibe to it. Also FYI this place is on the pricey side. Our waitress was Sage and she was super sweet, suggestive, and attentive! I lovedddd her. The appetizers were pretty good here. I 10/10 recommend the cheesesteak beignets (not pictured). I could eat like 10 of them. The deviled eggs were also good. I had the turkey wings and they were seasoned nicely. I loved that they were paired with the brussel sprouts and sweet potato hash as well. My only critique is that it was a little dry. Maybe smothering the turkey wings prior versus providing the side of gravy would've helped? The drinks were solid. The desserts could use a little work in my opinion. I was super eager to try to the banana pudding creme brûlée and I was super shocked that it comes "deconstructed" as they say and I basically feel like it was just banana pudding with some crushed wafers. We didn't have reservations so the wait was a little long but worth it. Our hostess (Sage's mom) and waitress (Sage) were so nice and attentive -- I hope if you come here that you get them! The place itself was very cute inside and clean. The food? PARTY IN MY MOUTH!! MY friend and I got a plethora of things and literally everything was so good (except the mashed potatoes could've been seasoned more) . My faves were the fried okra and the lamb chops with the succotash. I definitely have to go back! 10/10 -- give this place a try. read more

I came here for brunch on Valentines weekend. There was a reservation for four in our party. The restaurant is located at the end of Chestnut Street so it is great if you are going to have a plan for parking. There is local pay parking nearby. I waited at the bar for the rest of my party. I got a chance to chat with the bartender and have a drink. The bartender was friendly and my drink was really good. Once my party arrived, we were seated at our table. The restaurant is cozy. It's not very spacious, but they make do with their floor plan. We ordered drinks appetizers and brunch entrées. The items we had were the deviled eggs, strawberry French toast, lobster, omelette, turkey, burger, and oxtail cheesesteak omelette. We also had included in our order sides of collard greens and grits. Everyone at the table, enjoyed their food. The oxtail cheesesteak omelette was really good and the strawberry French toast had great flavor and was not soggy. I loved my brunch drink, which was the Akila. I got to taste the grits that a friend ordered. They were really good creamy with great flavor. I also enjoyed the collard greens. My friends who had the turkey burger, and the lobster omelette said that they enjoyed them as well. I would definitely return to try the dinner menu because brunch was really good. Our bill for four people including gratuity was $268. read more

Amina was absolutely delicious and did not disappoint. I had been meaning to try it since last year, and on June 1st, I finally decided to go for it. I figured I would drive down and try to find parking; if I managed to find a spot, it was meant to be! Luckily, I secured street parking after circling the block a few times. Upon entering the restaurant, I didn't have a reservation; however, the bar was wide open, and I managed to grab a seat. I had already reviewed the menu before coming and knew I wanted to try the gumbo with a side. At the bartender's suggestion, I opted for the collard greens, and I was not disappointed. The food took about 20-25 minutes, which was reasonable. It was delivered by someone who appeared to work in the kitchen. The gumbo was excellent -- moderately seasoned with rich flavors. The addition of crab meat really elevated the dish. The collard greens were fresh and delicious, impeccably prepared with no stems in sight, indicating careful washing and cutting. I decided to skip dessert and a cocktail this time. Overall, I give 10/10 to the food, 10/10 to the service, and 10/10 to the ambiance. I can't wait to come back in the future. read more
