I have been coming here for so many years and the one word that always comes to mind is consistency. This place is by far the best Italian in the area. The Cesar Salad is a favorite along with the Medallions of Chicken. Service is always above par in the dining room and the bartenders are very attentive when sitting in the lounge area. We made a return visit to Amici's last night and had a GREAT meal! They have a Tuesday Pasta Night which is all you can eat and you get to create your own meal from a choice of 5 sauces and 12 toppings! The dinner comes with a salad and delicious WARM bread! Also includes a nice choice of desserts. The staff was warm and friendly and the chefs at the cooking station made the whole experience a lot of fun! I definitely recommend it to everyone. read more

I have been to Amici's frequently over the years and have never been disappointed . There is a full bar separate from the restaurant so the noise level is balanced. The restaurant itself is Rustic with a warm atmosphere. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Our server was attentive and pleasant. The food has always been delicious and reasonably priced. I recommend the Anti Pasta, clams casino, baked clams, as well as fried Calamari for appetizers.My favorite entree's are the Veal Marsala ,Eggplant Rollatini, and the Chicken Francese. .Amici's is a great place for a quiet dinner for two or a nice family dinner. read more

Had dinner last night at Amici's table of nine. Service was terrible. Four of the meals were returned mine was an appetizer of eggplant the sauce over the top was like salsa and it tasted terrible when the manager came over and had to return the plates he was quite rude. Very delicious place for a Sunday lunch to meet with your boyfriend's parents. Everything was very delicious and it seemed like everyone enjoyed their meal. The only downside was as soon as the busboy cleared our plates, our server brought the bill and walked away. The resturant was pretty empty so its not as if they needed to turn our table. My bf's mom was the one who actually brought it up that we never got offered coffee or dessert and my bf's parents are after meal coffee people. I got the veal with prosciutto with mozzarella and tomato sauce. Let's just say I get a salty, soupy mess of a dish. The mozzarella wasn't even melted on top of the veal. Usually, this dish is served with sliced prosciutto over the veal with mozzarella on top of that. This dish was chunks of prosciutto all over the dish with veal and melted mozzarella not even layered on one another. I took maybe 2 bites, told both the busser and the server I did not like my dish. Was it taken off the bill you ask? No. Did they ask if i may want something else? No. Did we have to pay for it? Yes. Horrible customer service. I work in this industry and I would have taken that right of the check, asked if I could get them something else, and probably sent them home with a free dessert, just to try to get them to come back. 2 stars because everyone else liked their meals. My husband and I did go back for the Tuesday pasta night. It was very good and the price is excellent! They have several different sauces and pastas to choose from. There are also a multitude of toppings and ingredients that you can add to the sauce to individualize your own meal. You can go back as many times as you want and use a different combination each time if you so choose. In addition to the pasta entrée you also receive a salad and a dessert. I was very pleasantly surprised by the pasta night offering and I would definitely go back to do this again. The only one complaint that I have is that I could not finish my second plate and was not allowed to take the leftover food home with me. While I suppose I can understand the reasoning for this, I am somebody who hates to see any food go to waste and I know what was left would be thrown away. This was our second time here, don't know what happened but the food was not good this time. The breaded calamari was tough. I ordered linguine with clam sauce. It was cold. I told the waitress, who by the way was very sweet, she took it back. It was definitely microwaved and the clams were tough and horrible, like rubber. Not a home run, the place is nice but the food unfortunately is not good at all. My husband had eggplant parm which was comparable to a pizza take out. Cheesecake was stale. We went with a group of 8 because we've always enjoyed this restaurant. We definitely did not enjoy it this time. The service was terrible. Two of the people said they thought their chicken was microwaved. My food was cold. It was embarrassing as I was the one to recommend and pick it for this special occasion. To top it off, they added a 22% tip as it was a large party. The waitress spent more time with her table of 2 than with us. After coming here for years we are done with this restaurant. Yes, it has always seemed a bit run down but this dinner was NOT acceptable. We came as a party of eight which means they automatically add 20% tip. We are good tippers but adding tip onto total with tax is underhanded. Lori D was NOT a pleasurable server - why should she bother knowing she was getting a nice tip one way or the other. She never came back for a second round of drinks or even to offer grated cheese after serving entrees. She stood at one end of table and took orders instead of approaching each person. I kept smelling mop water but place is carpeted - ugly too. It ended up it was our plastic menus, washed with filthy rag. UGH. A month ago we ate there and had a delicious roll and bread basket. This night was some strange light brown bread. Two people said the chicken tasted microwaved and two others were not happy at all. All 8 of us have lived on the Island for most of our lives (we're in our 60s) and no one will be returning. Sad since my wife's lunch with her friends the previous week was enjoyable so we moved or reservation to here from Caffe Amici's which is nearby us. My first experience with Amici about a month ago was fabulous. Great Prix Fixe special. Every item our table ordered was outstanding and the service was prompt and friendly. Management stopped by more than once to make sure we were happy. We looked forward to our return visit a couple of nights ago. I'm sorry to say that this was a very different experience. I ordered the shrimp and asparagus for $19.99. It arrived as a huge bowl of spaghetti, *three* shrimp and I'd guess two asparagus spears chopped up. Essentially a $20 bowl of spaghetti. When my sister-in-law asked the server about it, she was informed "that's the standard portion." After some reluctance, the server agreed to let the management know we weren't pleased with this. And then nothing. No one stopped by the table to follow-up. Another person at our table with some dietary restrictions, requested a chicken breast and broccoli. The half-breast was tough and overcooked. The plate was overwhelmingly broccoli. She was charged $22. I was so disappointed by this that I've been motivated to post my first ever review here. I thought for sure we'd found a great neighborhood restaurant to enjoy again and again. I'd be hesitant to go back now- I feel as if it's a 50-50 chance I'll overpay for an underwhelming meal or get a great meal for a fair price. Quite frankly, I don't have the budget to waste. There are dozens of Italian restaurants in my area and I'll be spending my hard-earned money at one of them next time. read more

On more than one occasion she was rude to us.The last straw was when we bought our office staff there.After paying a hefty tab,the owner informed us that people had complained that we were too loud. There was a party of 12 (birthday) this past week-end...Entrees tasted good and plentiful...The soup of the day was..split pea soup with no other choices which I thought was ridiculous .What is split pea doing in what I thought was an upscale Italian restaurant ..I expected at the least minestrone or escarole soup....We had 2 servers..Each one never came back with an answer to a question that pertained to food...and one also seemed angry that you didn't want to ask another question for fear that you would get yelled at...This was my first experience here and my last.... read more

I have enjoyed their food before but the spaghetti with white clam sauce was a big disappointment. The clams were canned with no fresh clams on the half-shell on top and it did not have the briny taste of fresh clam juice. I've been passing this restaurant for years, commenting that we have to stop because the parking lot is always full, A very good sign. My husband and I finally stopped in last night, Tuesday, "All You Can Eat Pasta Night." From the time we walked in, we were greeted and got wonderful, friendly service. We were immediately brought a basket of assorted,warm breads and dipping sauces. Very nice garden salad, with enough blue cheese dressing. We both had the pasta bar. Amazing sauce (Scolara?), as well as a la vodka, Alfredo, marinara, and oil & garlic. I can't remember all the add in ingredients you can choose between, but there were very good little meatballs, ground sausage, shrimp, roasted peppers, mushrooms, broccolini--much more. The pasta bar chefs were friendly and very helpful. For dessert, (included), we had banana Nutella bread pudding, and NY style cheesecake. Both wonderful. The noise level was a bit high, but it was the sound of people having fun, not annoying. I came home happy, and stuffed beyond belief. read more

My family and I decided to eat here after a long Sunday afternoon. We had a gift certificate that we won and figured we would try it. I liked the atmosphere, you can dress up or casually (as we were) and still feel comfortable. The service was good and the food so-so. My real complaint is that my daughter has a peanut allergy and apparently EVERYTHING they make is made with peanuts...right down to the olive oil that is on the table. This I find out after my daughter used some as butter on her bread (luckily all was ok). After ordering app's I asked the waitress to see if the calamari is made with peanut oil, she came back and said "yes", so we told our daughter she can't have any...10 mins later a manager came out and said "Everything we make is made with peanuts or peanut oil". I could not believe that with the number of peanut allergies children have today that they do not display the fact that ALL meals are made with peanuts...it's not even on the menu. I do have to say they offered to make my daughter a meal from scratch not using any nuts, which we ok'd because we already began eating and drinking when we were informed of this peanut infested restaurant. I will not eat there again and I already began informing parents of children with allergies and anyone who may know someone with nut allergies. read more

Had lunch there about 2 weeks ago and I felt like they skimped on the ingredients to reduce cost. The head lettuce salad was mediocre and the chicken parmisian was tough and chewy, and was drowned in tomato sauce. It has to be said that the staff are lovely, you couldn't ask for nicer people. Pasta night is always an attraction for my kids, which offers salad, a pasta station then dessert. Tonight's experience had to shared, the caesar salad is among the worst caesar salads I've tasted, lacking in caesar dressing, over salted (unusual for a salad). Previously I've had their house salad, its not unusual to get butchered looking bruised lettuce. So, onto the pasta station, I decided on garlic, oil and spaghetti - surely couldn't go wrong with that!? Well, the garlic and oil was more like watery garlic powder sauce with a minimal amount of garlic (and oil!!). Dessert were fine. The last time I ate at this restaurant was in the 90's and I wasn't impressed then. I figured it has been in business for so long and the parking lot is always packed. So, last night me and my husband went there for dinner and it was absolutely disgusting. Chef Ramsey needs to tear this place apart. For the two of us it was almost $100. The restaurants appearance needs major overhauling. Our waitress was very unpleasant to top it off. My husband ordered a special that had shrimp, veal, and chicken over pasta and I ordered Broccoli Rabe with Grilled Chicken. My dish was approximately $20 with two pieces of chicken that were paper thin that I wouldn't feed this to my dog! The menu is entirely TOO big and this in itself says al ot. Usually fine dining has a small condensed menu with exquisite cuisine. Honestly the diner has better food than this restaurant. I am very surprised to see so many people like their food. Maybe it was an off night but I would never go there again. read more
