We had pizza for lunch and soup for dinner at Cafe Costello when we recently stayed in Bellport. Both were delicious

Stay away! We don't know how this place ever got a good review! We had a reservation and were seated in a room with no ambiance whatsoever. Service was poor, food was bland (sauce tasted like a can of supermarket tomato sauce ). The best was we were halfway through this bad meal when we were asked to move to another room so they could seat 27 people!!! We refused MUCH better places to eat in Bellport! Would give it NO STARS read more

Delicious pizza and pasta. Sauce is yummy and is my son's favorite in the area. Eggplant rollitini is divine and he does it without ham which my vegetarian husband appreciates. read more

Nick is a staple in the community. He always is helping local causes and clubs and schools. His food is Always fresh and delicious and he uses authentic ingredients. The staff is always great, and the restaurant is always spotless and clean. They have a larger room for small parties or gathering and in warmer weather a nicely decorated outside area. Can't compliment these people enough. The owner has a so good to my 3 babies every time we go for dinner. They're patient and very nice when assisting you. The menu is great. Always on point and never takes too long to get your food. It's a small cute place to take loved ones for a night out. I enjoy the outside area during the summer. The food was great, but the place is so noisy that we had to yell to talk among ourselves. We had seven of us around a table. The poor acoustics is the reason why I dropped one star. I dropped another star because there is only limited street parking. They don't have their own lot. Besides all that, the service was good, and the waitress was pleasant and friendly. They even allowed split checks for each of us. We all enjoyed our entrees. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. read more

This is a small pizzeria. The owner Nick is such a sweet man. It's like going to your grandfathers for a great Italian dinner. Look past the small interior and bare walls. He is knowledgeable with gluten free and I never have a meal that disappoints. It is also BYOB so you can bring a bottle of wine with you. I was here on a Wednesday night which is pasta night. With pasta night you get a small salad and a dessert. There aren't any gluten free desserts. Nick does have gluten free rolls for dinner. read more

I have been coming here since day one and I have to say that I have grown to love the owner Nick and the pride he takes in his business. There is not a time where I go in there that he does not ask me how every single person I've ever brought in there is doing and I love him for that! I never had any of the dinners or breakfast there but it's pizza is my go to local spot in Bellport Village, the only pizza place I go to within a 10 minute drive of my house Because all the local spots have either a fallen off or were never really on to begin with! I also love the fact that they started making it a little kind of niche small Italian market Where are you can get amazing staples imported from Italy at a comparative price. I really appreciate the fact when people use quality ingredients and keep their authenticity. If you order a pie ask for it well done because it comes out exceptional! I would also like to mention that Nick does a lot for the schools in the local area bringing pizzas or bringing kids in to make the pizzas or supporting the Bellport sports team during auctions. A true advocate for the community and giving back which is super important to me when we live in such a tightknit community. read more

I want to rate Costello with NO stars. Will never dine at Cafe Castillo again. Ordered a seafood dish. Read the ingredients several times as I am allergic to shrimp. No shrimp listEd on the menu yet Dish arrived with several pieces of shrimp. Advised the waitress (a real sweetheart in fact the whole waitstaff was great) that I needed to send dish back. Owner came to table and blamed me for not informing the waitress of my food allergies. If I ordered chicken should I have told the staff I'm allergic to shrimp. If shrimp was listed as one on the ingredients and I ordered it shame on me. But it was not and for the owner to argue with me and blame it on me, shame on him. Owner needs to learn customer service. Also never never never been to a restaurant where they don't bring you water, upon request. Owner does not believe in serving tab water, even though Suffolk County has some of the best water. We had to buy bottles of Poland spring water at $3,75 each. $3,75 per bottle. That's what a pay for a case. We visit this area frequently. Will never go to Costello or recommend it to my friends or family. read more

Came here last year before being diagnosed with Celiac disease, and really enjoyed it. Now, I heard Nick the owner was making gluten-free food and I had to give it a shot ,even though it's scary going out to eat at places that say they are gluten-free because many of them cross contaminate you without knowing it , but I wanted to give Nick a chance because I loved his food in the past. Well, I have to say, his gluten-free food was absolutely delicious. He took great care and explaining how he prepares everything separately in the kitchen and I could tell he really cared. My friends who were with me ate off the regular menu and thoroughly enjoyed it. The big test is the next day whether or not I feel sick , if I was cross contaminated, and woke up today feeling great, no cross-contamination !!! I recommend this restaurant to everybody, celiac's and non-celiac's included! Thank you Nick! read more

Oh boy. I don't hand out many one star reviews. You've got to really mess up to get one of these from me. And Cafe Castello did just that. Based solely on the fact that this place is an Italian cafe serving breakfast would have been enough to keep me away. But our friends brought us here for breakfast so we made the most of it. There's a chalkboard in front of the cafe listing daily specials, except on this particular day, they ran out of at least one of the specials: the blueberry pancakes. Yet, they didn't bother to erase it from the board. And even though they only ran out of blueberries - not pancakes - the cashier didn't offer an alternative berry. Instead, we asked for an alternative, specifically strawberries, and she looked at us as if we were extraterrestrials. They were "out" of strawberries too, but mushy, moldy strawberries came in our "fresh" fruit that barely filled a 10 oz. cup for $4.95. Then, my friend wanted something with salmon (not sure if it was a special or not) and they didn't have that either. Instead of just saying, "sorry, we're out of that," the same cashier started bashing the owner's lack of inventory management skills while the owner was right there working in the background. But then I thought the cashier maybe had a legitimate case against her boss after I tried to order a strawberry-pineapple smoothie (also written on a chalkboard), only to be told they were out of pineapple as well. I opted for the strawberry-banana smoothie instead, which tasted like frothy ice with artificial flavoring. I'm convinced the contents of this smoothie included 0% fresh fruit. And for over $4, that's a rip-off. But hey, at least they left out the moldy berries. A supreme pizza had just come out of the oven. Admittedly, it looked so good, it made me change my order, but somehow, the pizza was cold. The sad part is the owner served it to me on a single paper plate with the grease soaking through on his countertop. Then he put a plastic fork and knife wrapped in a napkin right next to the greasy pizza. So the napkin got covered in grease before I could even use it to wipe my hands. I sent the pizza back to get heated up and when they brought it back to me, it was STILL cold! I literally told the owner his pizza oven might be broken. After a while, I noticed my friends were still waiting for their food even after I had already finished mine. Normally, I would have waited for everyone to get served, but I didn't want my pizza to get any colder than it already was. We noticed the only other people in the place were eating my friends' sandwiches. When I went to notify the staff, the owner just happened to be the first person I saw. When I told him what happened, he laughed. Apparently, losing money is funny. Because not only did they have to re-do our order, they also served the other table what they had originally ordered on top of what they received by mistake. When my friends' order finally did arrive (about 40 minutes later), the staff forgot the butter on their breakfast sandwiches. At one point, I went to go use the men's room to get the grease off my hands, and of course, they were out of paper towels too. The only thing this place got right was the French toast, eggs and potatoes, but not even these items were anything to write home about. The bottom line is this place should not be in business. The owner clearly has no idea how to run a restaurant. At no point did he apologize despite having multiple opportunities to do so. All told, we were here for just under an hour when we should have been in and out in under 30 minutes. read more

The staff excels in customer service and I am always welcomed with a smile. I would definitely recommend Cafe Costello for a delicious meal, local charm and a fabulous experience. read more

Be aware do not have breakfast here! Sadly, very sadly this turned out to be the worst place for breakfast. I think I would have had a better experience at McDonald's. Yes it's true. I'll go straight to the point. "Anything that can go wrong will go wrong"! Murphy's Law. Everything that intrigued the four of us on the menu was not available. One request after the order was shot down with REJECTION! Worst of all, the young staff member did not offer alternatives or substitutes. After 10 minutes of finally getting an order in it took over an hour to get all of our orders correct. Why? The place was not busy at all. How did our order end up at someone else's table when the party of two arrived after us? It is obvious, this place lacks communication. When we did receive our plates, the quality and presentation was nothing to cheer about. Everyone at the table had a complaint. Pizza too cold, no butter on the buns as requested, no toasted buns as requested and for me no fresh strawberries on my French toast, which by the way I can make better at home! Home Fries tasted more like frozen home fries I use to eat when I was in high school and I enjoyed eating scrambled eggs from Mc Donald's big breakfast platter then what was on my plate. Oh and the plastic plates, not visibly pleasing! Even though after all of this fiasco, the owner himself did not apologize for the horrible experience. It was very disappointing. read more

We love it here. Nick is so welcoming and my kids love "going to Nicks". He gives them high 5's and a cookie after they eat. I personally love the spaghetti and meatballs, pasta primavera, and minestrone. :) Also- be sure to check out the garden in the back when the weather's nice. read more

I stopped in here to try their Gelato on one of the first heat waves of the year. Their gelato is made fresh daily -- and you can definitely taste the difference. Both the chocolate and chocolate chip flavors were delicious and I'm looking forward to returning for more throughout the summer. Check out the courtyard next to the Cafe. Its a great place to sit and they sometimes have live music playing. You can also take a stroll down Bellport Lane to see some of the historic homes on your way to the marina. read more

Just came for breakfast. Horrible. Over an hour for eggs. Potatoes and pancakes came out ice cold. Eggs came out hot and completely undercooked. Waitress dropped a piece of toast on the way out and never replaced it. Gave us plastic utensils to eat with. Orange juice was terrible. Paninis that we're ordered had the bread burnt on the outside. Maybe better for lunch and dinner but stay away for breakfast. read more

The Cannoli's where great! Didn't like the eggplant rotini much. Everyone raves about the pizza. There was a line of people trying to get a slice. So next time I will try it. Also the outdoor area is nice, the have a small stage there. read more

Great little Italian restaurant in Bellport Village. Great menu and restaurant also has other Italian food items. Pizza is very good. One of the better pies in the area. Just discovered Cafe Castello last week and have been here twice already. Truly delicious food so far. Sorry I didn't take pics...was too hungry. Took my kids here and my son is picky. He devoured the meatball hero. My daughter and I shared the Farfalle Giacomo, a dish with Italian bow tie pasta, sun dried tomato & shrimp. in a fresh tomato & basil sauce. Freshly made and absolutely delicious! I took home a apple turnover and just knew it was homemade once I bit into the flaky crust. As far as the staff, they were friendly and engaging in conversation. Eat here, you wont be disappointed. read more

My mom and I ate there last week. It was 95 degrees out. They had no air conditioning or even fans. It was already hot with giant ovens on. They barely acknowledged we were trying to order and the food took forever. The food was good though. read more

First let me say I hate leaving a bad review. But after what haoppened here something has to be said. Christmas eve we ordered 6 trays of food. We have 25 guests coming. We are told to pick up the food between 6:15 and 6:30. I arrive at 6:20. At 6:40 I say I have over 20 quests at home whats going on. They tell me another 15 to 20 minutes. Now I should also let you know there are at least 15 other people waiting on there food. The owner is in the back wont answer any questions is having his employees handle the madness. At 7pm I realize that the woman next to me has been waiting since 5:45 and there was little hope for me.I left my phone number and went back to my home. I finally get the call at 8:30pm. Now I understand things happen. Maybe the cook got covid maybe the roof fell in. But to leave me sitting there and never come out and tell us hey it's going to be hours was totally wrong. So for my Christmas eve and our 20 plus guests there was no dinner. App's and desert. Shame on you cafe costello. Of course I will never go back read more
