We always went to Amici for great pizza but no more. We were there last night and not only did it take forever to get the pizza when we got it we were disappointed. We ordered the woodsman. The pizza tasted like a frozen pizza. Crust tasted pre-made where it used to be handmade, toppings didn't cover the whole pizza and it was supposed to have mushrooms on it. Not a single one. I've given the new Amici location in Monroe a lot leeway since their opening earlier this year. I didn't expect too much. The food is adequate and that is what I expect. They opened during a pandemic, I don't expect more than "adequate" from service in small town with not may other dining options. Tonight , however, they fucked with my emotions and its the last straw. I ordered a chicken parm sub. Its labeled on the menu as such,and says in plain print that it is served on a sub roll. We all know what a chicken parm sub is supposed to look like. Some of us even find comfort in foods that we are familiar with, especially after a hard day. Frankly, I was looking forward to eating half of a chicken parm sub, and taking the rest home to eat after i watch my shows. Imagine my chagrin, when the parm is delivered to my seat on a hamburger bun. I remind my server that it explicitly says that it is served on a sub roll, and he replies, " nah... that how they do it.". There was no apology offered , no attempt to rectify the situation. Pizza is great if you don't have to wait an hour after ordering it. Service has gradually declined since moving to new location. Went tonight and there was a 2 hour wait so we left. Last week, we got in, placed our pizza order and it took an HOUR before we got it. Service staff seemed to be afraid to even come check on us during the hour or apologize for wait. There is free on street self parking. Sorry I could not give five stars because my wife ordered a burger with fries and it was a mistake as the burger tasted like an over cooked frozen patty on a hard if not stale bun. The fries tasted 'old' as if they were cooked thirty minutes earlier then were warmed by dropping them for a second time in a grease fryer. All in all just go to Amici for great pizza. read more

I try to go somewhere at least 3 times before I judge it and every time I've been to Amici's since it has moved I've had the same results. First the service is always rude the last time I went in the hostess were talking about random gossip and not trying to seat me I had to interrupt them to be seated. Second of all the food is terrible for the price if you want to get pizza in Monroe go to little Italy it is far better and a lot cheaper, if you want to eat wings go to just wings again they are far better and far cheaper. Lastly every time I go I have to wait 45- 1 hour and a half even though I can see there is tons of tables open. Subpar at best. The atmosphere is great! The bar upstairs is wonderful, but I feel like you have to be under the influence to eat the food! The food tastes like it is old. It has little to no taste. The staff is rude and seems to be more interested in their phones or their personal conversations than the customers. I have once been in there and had my food sit on the food rack waiting for the waitress to pick it up for over an hour as she had a personal conversation with another staff member. I sent it back right away because it was cold, not mention I watched it sit there. They refused to make another plate and refused to let me leave unless I paid, for the food I did not eat. I asked about my order, and was told they burned a second calzone, and there was a party of 11 that came in. I mentioned that since they burned my first calzone, and then a second one, MY order should be priority over a party that came in after I ordered. No one said anything to me about a problem with calzones! A hour after placing my order, they finally brought the calzone. It was obvious the dough wasn't fully cooked. Amici's has a nice casual and local feel. We sat downstairs and got to partake on a Terrapin beer tasting. Though they only had four beers to try, it's nice to see local businesses supporting each other. I couldn't decide what I wanted so I ordered both a 6pk of honey hot wings and a slice of the Summer in Turin pizza. The honey hot flavor was suggested by our waitress. It was definitely a good choice - good flavor and just enough kick. The pizza was a decent size and in combo with the wings, I just barely put both down. The toppings were nice and fresh, and the overall taste was great. The prices are a bit steep, though. The one sour note was that our server, though super friendly, was uneven in her attention to our table. There were a couple of times when she stood there and talked to us for what seemed like 10 minutes. But in between those times, when we needed her, she was no where to be found. After going across the street to shoot some pool, we came back and went upstairs where they had live music. I have eaten here a few times and the atmosphere is nice and welcoming and you can eat outside if you wish or upstairs at the bar if you are so inclined. The food here is usually pretty good albeit somewhat pricey. This review is not really about their food, however, it is just to complain about one of their "promotions," their $.60 wing Wednesday. We arrived here around 4:00 but didn't leave until around 5:30 and were charged full price for our 12 wings, $12.99 since we supposedly got there before the promotion started at 4:00 and ordered 12 wings instead of 10 which is the increment that most people order them in. A $.60 wing is a $.60 wing and their daily special blackboard just stated that it started at 4:00 and was for dine-in only. If your deal is only good if you order wings in certain multiples then please write that rule out on your huge blackboard but don't punish your customers for ordering something that the menu only gives you the option of ordering 6 or 12 of. I hope it was worth it for them to lose a customer and for me to write a negative review over the additional $5 they made through their wing stipulations and trickery. While I thought I was cheap this place is perhaps even cheaper and don't count on taking advantage of their daily specials unless you explicitly ask what multiples you are allowed to order in, and even then if your food is priced wrong your server will just argue with you and claim that you are in the wrong, not them. I do not like being taken advantage of by businesses, especially over something so misleading, and if you don't, either I would caution you from eating here unless you don't mind being overcharged and taken for every penny you have. read more

My wife and I, along with another couple visited Amicis for the first time last Saturday night. The sign at the door said 'try topside' which meant they had an upstairs seating area. We scoped the downstairs first, there were many open tables, but the atmosphere was a little too sterile so we opted for the upstairs. Nice setup! There is a full bar and many beer choices as well. As old classic rock was piped in the bar area, the environment setup suggested an adult dining experience. Nope! The under 5 crowd ruled the roost. The only thing that was missing was the singing bear and the colored ball playground. There was a lot of beer drinking tables mingled in with cartwheels, and squealing games of freeze tag throughout. I guess you can consider it entertainment. The food is just very average Italian themed fair. Pizza, pasta, and the sort. It's basically what you expect. The service was about average as well. If there is a next time, I would take a closer look at the patron mix upstairs before deciding where to sit. There is a lot of potential if the restaurant finds an identity. read more

(Monroe) This all occurred on a Sunday evening at 5pm. When we were seated, we were informed that they were out of bone-in wings, that they had only boneless. No problem, we were not there for wings. We all (6 of us) reviewed the menu, and the waitress returned to take our orders. My wife ordered the wedge salad, and was informed that they were out of the wedge salad. I ordered last, and ordered the chicken parmigiana : And of course, I was told that they were out of the chicken parmigiana!!! Being the last to order, I hurriedly picked another menu item. Of the 2 restrooms, one was out of order, and the other had a faucet that was broken Then the salads arrived, and we realized that none of us had utensils. We asked for utensils, and began eating. As we began, we found that 2 of the 6 of us had received set-ups that only contained a fork, so it was necessary to ask for knives. As we ate, one of the wait staff went to the front door (where they had posted a sign that they were out of wings), and added a sign saying that they were also out of fries and tots! By now, the entire experience had become laughable. Never been in a restaurant like that. Needless to say, we won't be back!! If you are out of many menu items (which is pitiful), you could at least inform the guests before they order. Serious need of management attention!!! read more

Went for lunch with my family and was utterly disappointed! Can we give it 0.5 stars. I used to eat there all the time 10yrs ago and am saddened by the decline. To start, we ordered Buffalo chicken dip. It came with stale pita chips and the chicken tasted like it came from a can amd it was so cold that we couldn't DIP the chips into it. The staple of ANY Italian restaurant needs to be its chicken parm. It's the first dish I try at any new place. Amici cost was $14 and was served with a paltry dried up piece of chicken with pasta sauce that tasted like Franco American spaghetti. The pasta was way overcooked and tasted like it came from a can as well. My wife's burger was ok but her fries were cold. The house salad came stacked with hard as can be chick peas that were partially frozen and almost rotten tomatoes. All served with a paste like substance that was billed as fresh creamy Italian dressing. All Italian restaurants need to have a house Italian dressing as well. The only thing they got right was the ice. It was frozen!!!! The one saving grace was that the wait staff was super sweet and respectful. I really want to be a fan of this place, but some teaching needs to be done in the kitchen. I've been here several times and it's so hit or miss. The wings I had were probably left in the fryer a minute or two too long, and they were crunchy and not moist at all. Amici is known for its pizza and wings...this cant happen.
