I moved from Connecticut to Georgia 9 years ago and have been desperately looking for decent pizza…read more You know it's bad when you fall back on the familiarity of chain pizzerias. I finally found what I was looking for in Monroe Pizzeria & Eatery. The service is impeccable, with our server checking in regularly. The atmosphere is friendly. We were there for lunch so not much of a drinking crowd. It might be louder in the evening. Now to the star of the show - the pizza. The crust is a little thicker than the traditional NY thin, more like Connecticut. But the taste was perfect. The sauce is bright with a good zing. And the toppings were *chef's kiss*. We had mushrooms, char and cup pepperoni, fresh ricotta, banana peppers and black olives. Absolutely delicious! I'd give more than 5 stars if I could.

Amici in Monroe is a solid casual dining spot, though it's definitely more…read moreItalian-American/American than authentic Italian. We visited on a Friday at 6 PM, and the place was packed--we had to wait about 30 minutes for a table, so keep that in mind if you're planning to go during peak hours. Our server was absolutely lovely--so sweet and attentive, which made the wait and experience much more pleasant. The food was decent overall. I ordered the tomato basil soup with grilled cheese. The grilled cheese was the highlight--perfectly toasted and absolutely made for dipping. However, the soup itself was just average. It didn't taste like it was made with fresh tomatoes or basil, and the flavor was dominated by black pepper, which felt unnecessary and overpowered what should have been the star ingredients. The restaurant has a good selection of wine and cocktails, which is a nice touch. There was live music--two guys playing country and singing--which some people might enjoy, but it was very loud and not my cup of tea for dinner ambiance. Overall, it's a friendly, casual spot, good for a low-key night out, but don't expect authentic flavors. Good for large groups too!

When you open the box you expect browned, cooked pizza. You get white, undercooked, flour covered dough. The flavor of the sauce and toppings are actually good but are masked by the sad state of preparation and the obvious fear of burning the food. The hallmarks of poor training. Wings are not crispy as advertised. While the meat was cooked correctly, the skin is nothing short of rubber. Your Pie will be another short lived endeavor.
