THE most fresh, fragrant, delicious Chinese food I've had in the Twin Cities. It's just a moderate sized box restaurant in a strip mall in Hugo, but don't let any of that deter you. You can be satiated on the aromas alone. My favorite that is keeping me from trying other dishes (tho my spouse shares so I do try some) is the Honey Walnut Shrimp...it's heaven. Fresh lightly fried battered shrimp drizzled in a sweet white lemony/honey sauce with orange slices. The salt & pepper fried tofu has the thinnest crisply outsides with a soft center tossed with a light component of slivered vegetables. I always am picking up orders from here on DoorDash and I decided to try it for myself and absolutely loved every bite of it. I ordered the egg foo young and lo mein vegetable. Every bite of the egg foo young felt like heaven in my mouth. The lo mein was also great with the veggies and the noodles. The waiter was great refilling the hot green tea which was refreshing to enjoy after a long day of door dashing. I hope to come again in the future as they are definitely worth revisiting. read more

We ordered chicken lo mein, orange chicken, chow mein, Mongolian beef and cream cheese wontons. Everything was very good except for the orange chicken. The dark meat was tough and chewy. We called to complain and were told it can be ordered with white meat - you just need to ask for it. I would not recommend this entree. read more

I will start by saying the service was fast and great, also all the reviews I read said the Asian specific food was excellent (orange/sesame chicken, friend rice, etc). We read a previous review that said the pad thai was missing something, and we wanted to try it ourselves. I agree, totally missing something. Very bland. The noodles were also overdone so it was rather mushy, no seasoning on the chicken. The spice level was nice. The portion size was super nice for the price point. Would be our new spot to go if the flavor was there. Will come back to try the other Asian specials though! Great ambiance. read more

Ordered online, it said 20 mins. I arrived to pick up in 30 mins to ensure it was done. Host proceeded to tell me it wasn't even started and it would be another 15. We have been looking for awesome, local Asian options. Our go-to was always The Village Wok when we lived in Saint Paul, but after they closed in Stadium Village a few years ago -- we have been seeking other awesome venues. NOTE: There's a sign in the window that says "under new management" and the health department license shows it's effective 1/1/2023 so I can't speak for the former owners, so perhaps consider that when looking at older reviews (under old management). Tonight we ordered takeout for the first time. We had 3 entrees and two appetizers. General Tso's tofu: fantastic crispy tofu, covered in a savory barbecue-like sauce. Perfect texture, not soggy or overcooked. Crispy vegetable spring rolls: excellent, smaller than a standard egg roll, with finely-chopped vegetable filling. Vegetable lo mein: bright noodles, with a slight smoky char from the hot pan. Garlic, fresh onion, mushroom, broccoli, bean sprouts, carrots. Chicken egg foo young: three dumplings, with a brown gravy. Very good, but we wished it came with a bit more gravy. Donuts: fun addition, with 9ish fresh donuts coated in cinnamon sugar. The serving sizes are absolutely generous, served in clamshell containers, rather than paper boxes. Easily 12-16oz per entree. Large portion of fresh rice to accompany the tofu and the egg foo young. We'll definitely be ordering again, and we are happy this is so close to is in Hugo. read more

I went for a quick lunch on a Sunday. The service was great and the server was polite and attentive. I ordered the Beef Chow Fun which is a staple of many Chinese restaurants and a dish I use to judge the quality. It was fresh and cooked well, the beef was velveted nicely and was tender. They added green and red peppers which was new to me but the crunch of the peppers worked with the rest of the dish. For a Chinese restaurant in a small town in MN, this place will most likely exceed your expectations! read more

Me and my son used to go there at least once per week. The food and service was always spectacular. Then the manager/hostess turned rude and I stopped going. I was excited about new owners. The service at this place is not the best-they were not very friendly when I went to pick up my order. The hostess seemed really annoyed when I asked for napkins and a side of chili oil. This place isn't my favorite Asian restaurant, by far but, it's the best option for the immediate area. It's supposed to be a an American fusion and the menu has had some surprising things on it, in the past like, fillet mignon. I usually order from here about once every two months. read more

My friend would rate this 5 star for the General Tsao Chicken - The Best he has had for a LONG time - Thai hot please. I have had lots of their Asian food - some of their pasta - and everything is as fresh and tasty as you can imagine! I don't think anything is made in big bulky blah batches. Fresh and FAST! This place deserves a much better rating than what they have before this review. Most reviews complain about the wait; great things are worth waiting for! Be patient! Great food! Everything is made to order, so it takes a bit longer to get your order, but it's so worth the wait! While I waited, my Diet Coke never reached empty. They were there to refill it before I could even think a thirsty thought. I had the kung pao chicken and fried rice and the flavors and textures were fantastic. I was fortunate to dine there with someone who works for the state, and he told me their kitchen had performed one of the best unscheduled inspections many had ever seen. I eat Chinese food all the time in the City, but I think if I really get a craving, I will be heading out to the sticks. This stuff is the real deal. Not dripping in sauce, not swimming in grease, and you can identify what animal the meat has come from. Now, the service isn't great, but they are more than nice and if you're not here for a fast meal, it's not going to detract from your meal in any way. I also appreciated that they had decent American food as well; sometimes, Boyfriend wants Chinese and I just don't - and their American food is pretty decent for being at a Chinese joint. We shared appetizers of calamari (not bad at all) and egg rolls (pretty good!) I had beef with peppers & black bean sauce (YUM!), Boyfriend had Kung Pao chicken (lots of peanuts!), vegetable egg foo young (the best I've ever had, and I've been around), and hot tea. Our friends had pork & peapods (glorious sauce) and General Tso's chicken (again, great sauce and not too much). It was a pretty epic meal and I really loved every bit of it. The food is AWESOME! Especially the fried rice (any flavor), cream cheese wontons and the chow fun (wide noodle dishes). You can tell from the first bite that the meats and vegetables are super fresh, and you can hear that your meal is being made to order from the wok in the kitchen. Seriously, some of the best Chinese/Asian food I've ever had. I think that the portions are a rather large size so come with an appetite. I usually get two meals out of what I order. The tea came loose leaf in a pot, my first pleasant surprise... Than wonton soup which was standard and tasty... The vegetable lo mein was the clincher. Even the orange chicken, my children's favorite, will surprise you with its textures and flavors. But the fusion dishes are where the creativity of the chef's truly shines through. Tonight I had the pleasure of trying the Shitake Chicken with asparagas and mashed potatoes. I expected the chicken to be served like bangars and mash and slathered in mushrooms. Instead I discovered three perfect fillets in a delicate panko-shitake batter, paired with white and green asparagus, the most mouth-watering mashed potatoes ever, and a tasty garnish of grated veggies. Knocked my socks off. However, if you are craving the bland, Americanized Chinese food that curses many a strip mall, or if you are a convert of Lee Ann Chin's banal predictability, you may be disappointed. My only wish for this place is that the decor were more distinctive so that the ambiance would match the uniqueness of the food. As for the service, it is on par with most family-run restaurants. I debated between 3 to 4 stars. The food is delicious, the wait time is ridiculous! If you go, just make sure you have the time. I wouldn't even say calling in works - I called for the fried rice and said I'd be there in 1/2 hour and I still ended up waiting (and there were only 2 other customers in the restaurant). That being said, I love their fried rice - I'd recommend the house fried rice - shrimp, pork and chicken! Everyone in our group that went at a previous visit loved the food they ordered. The food here is decent. It isn't anything amazing, but if you need Chinese this is one of the best in the area. The service here isn't great. The lady that took my order acted like I should've known where everything was on the menu and how much it was. But it was my first experience there. I would ask if they had sesame chicken or orange chicken, what size and how much and she just kept pointing to the menu and would say "it's in there." Well, yeah. But why should I have to read through the entire menu to find that info when I'm ordering carry-out and you know the answers anyway. Not very friendly. read more
