Let's just say I fully agree with the other low star comments. Account neglect, say one thing, do another. What was supposedly a contractual agreement for will-call, turned out to be they would show up when you weren't home and leave you with a 500.00 bill knowing full well that in a week, the cheaper seasonal summer gas blend would be available. I came out to ask the driver what he thought he was doing because no one had called to order any gas and I ended up falling backwards down a steep incline because he'd parked his truck right next to the edge of the driveway. I almost lost my cool . . . . . but cooler heads prevailed and I opted to close the account. I had to threaten them with a law suit in order to get them to close the account. Amerigas failed to refill my tank in November. The tank went dry on Dec 11. A refill was attempted on Dec 13 but could not be completed due to a bad valve on their tank. A repair person was supposed to arrive in half an hour. No one ever came. Over a dozen calls resulted in over a dozen different answers. All calls are routed to Charlotte and then off-shored and there is no way of contacting a local office. I finally got a true answer. Amerigas did not have a repair person in my district and emergency repair services were not available. I've been 8 nights without heat and after 22 years with Amerigas, I'm done. read more

It is literally zero outside and there are 3 children in my building. One of which is mine. One star is way to many for this inept company. They have missed or screwed up EVERY delivery I was suppose to have. They don't contact the customer to find out when it's convenient for you instead you get a voicemail after hours saying there are gonna be at your house tomorrow and someone better be home. Two times I had a voicemail saying they were gonna be there and then they never showed up. The North Las Vegas office rarely answers the phone. My last delivery was screwed up so bad I spoke with a supervisor who promised me it would not happen again. Well last week I sat at home all day to find out the driver claims he came by but the gate was locked and he couldn't get in. Dah well maybe he should have called me to say he was at my house!! Amerigas makes all kinds of promises when you sign up with them for service. After your first fill it all goes down hill from there. Steer clear of this company. If I could give 0 stars I would. DO NOT USE AMERIGAS! I used them for a little over a year and not only were they the highest priced propane company BY FAR, they never stayed true to their word. We have 2 small children and it would be the middle of winter and after giving them notice we are low it would take them over a week to come and fill us up. Well after the 3rd time I was OVER IT. I cancelled my services and went to a much better company. Fast forward to today and FINALLY after a year they came and picked up their tanks BUT they left my damn side gate OPEN for my dogs to get out and I had no idea ! This has got to be the worst propane co. My mother and I have had to deal with this co at least three time to cancel the service and each time was so bad and I got so angry. First they want to charge almost $5 a gallon and we where told that al was going to be done is check the level and the driver never got our approval to fill it and then we had to pay a almost $350 bill. Now that I am changing to another company Amerigas is charging us $60 to pick it up the tank and won't be for 2 weeks. Oh and the now the new company is charging me less than 1/2 the price per gallon. The company has the worst costumer service. If I could rate them lower I would. I guess the only way the stay in business is by screwing there costumers. I had to call 3 separate times and each time I've spoken to someone who was not professional, did not sound as if they knew what they were doing, and offered my next fill for $0.10 per gallon when I asked them to close my account. This company used to have great customer service. They would know my account by my phone number when I called in and spoke to an agent. Now they outsource their calls which starts as an automated system. I spent 45 minutes on the phone doing something that used to take no more than 2 minutes. I took my business to Ferrell Gas and saved 1.32/gallon as well. read more

More than two months ago I signed a new contract with Amerigas and sales person told me that technician will call me in two weeks. Since then I never heard about any from Amerigas. Amerigas left me out of propane for over 30 hours in freezing Vermont in February! Their online gauge said I had 57% but my furnace wasn't heating so I called my furnace repair only to be told that I was completely out of propane! It took me a dozen calls over two days and 30 hours to finally get propane. They use a foreign call center for all calls and I could not understand their accent. This was an emergency caused by their inaccurate gas gauge and M house had no heat for over 30 hours due to their gross negligence! read more

If I could give it no stars, I would. I had an account set up in Nashville, Tennessee and used this propane service for about two years. Expensive, expensive, expensive. My new electric HVAC is much cheaper to use and I don't have to hassle with the billing overcharges and poor customer service from Amerigas. After calling Amerigas to close my account - it has been over a year now and they still haven't picked up the tank. When I called to follow up on this, it generated an annual rental fee bill that was sent out to me (the tank is no longer connected). I called to follow up on the bogus bill and was told that the company does not pick up tanks at this time of year because they are too busy delivering gas. Also, when you close an account with them, they keep any gas left in the tank upon pickup (that you paid for upon delivery) and sell it to another unsuspecting customer. I feel it is my duty to warn others so I can possibly save someone a headache. I wish I had read the reviews before I ever agreed to use this propane company. read more

Amerigas ... what a nightmare! I've been a customer of Mountain Propane and then Amerigas for 14 years. There's never been any trouble filling my propane tank. Two guys show up and tell me that I have to take the roof off the little house where my propane tank is. They cannot fill up the tank because the roof obstructs them. "But the tank has been filled for 14 years that way," I say. But they just speed away in their trucks, leaving the tank top open ... ! So this nightmare started on 3/11 when Amerigas was supposed to fill up my tank and didn't show until days later. Then, the two guys show up. Then, I call every day begging, pleading, crying for propane--because I'm out of it now--and Amerigas customer service tells me the propane is on its way, only it isn't. Once it's not there, Amerigas sends messages insisting that there's an obstruction to filling up my tank. Now, Amerigas messages me that it'll be there on 3/21. But meanwhile, I am out of propane, so no hot showers, cooking with gas, heat, that kind of thing ... ! My advice to newcomers is to stay away from Amerigas! Unshowered, cold, living on microwaved food, I will watch this tragicomedy unfold again on 3/21 when Amerigas shows up--or doesn't!!!!!! Today I bought an electric washer and dryer, and I will buy an electric stove and change my heating to electric. I cannot rely on Amerigas. I'm told one thing by once person and something completely different form another person. I spent FIVE days calling and got a different response from every customer service employee. There used to be a local office where I0-p'[ could speak to a local person who was helpful and now I have to speak so someone across the country and I am lucky if the speak English. If I could rate zero stars that is what this company deserves. Bought a new home that has propane. The prior owner used AmeriGas. The tank is 1000 gallons and was less than half upon purchase of the home. We had to call their customer service so many times, at least 9, just trying to get propane delivered. Each time they would give us a date range of 3-4 days out. There would be no communication that the propane was not coming, not ever, not even one time. We would call customer service again and the same result. I would ask for a supervisor and they WOULD NOT get me one, assuring me that they were taking care of it. This continued on and on until our tank was less than 20% left in the tank. The customer service in this company does not exist but they do not care because there are not that many companies competing for this business. We tried Polar gas and they were even worse. I tried to use their online chat and that was even worse. I would ask questions regarding the upcoming delivery date, they would reply it's coming and then just end the chat. It is truly a pathetic company who care NOTHING for it's customers, and why, because they don't have to. read more

I am following up on the review I wrote last November 2021 where I was awaiting a call back from customer service. Well, as most of you who use this company know, there is no call back. EVER! I took this company off of autopay because they owe me money for gas removed in old tank. Simply hard to understand how they are still in business. Here is my previous review from 11/2021: "These comments are directed to Paul Ladner, CEO of AmeriGas. I would give Amerigas a zero if that was an option, one of the most poorly run companies ever. And this started well before the pandemic. We inherited a very rusted and old propane tank already in place in the home we purchased in 2019. We called Amerigas to fill the tank as they were service providers already in place. Our problems started right away, with no response for a couple of months. When we finally had someone respond to fill the tank, we realized not only was the tank rusted, but the gauge was broken, so there was no way to know exactly how much was in the tank. The technician seemed to think that was not a problem. We started the process to request a new tank which once again resulted in no response. After much time and many attempts, we got agreement to replace the tank. When Amerigas came out to remove the old tank and install a new one, the technician informed us it was too wet to install the new tank. After several weeks with no communication we began the arduous process of trying to get a response from Amerigas. Finally after 2.5 months without a tank someone came out to install a new one. This person told us the previous tech was no longer with the company, and there should not have been a problem installing if ground was wet. This tech told us the fireplace would take a few minutes to start with the new connection. So we tried and tried to start the fireplace-no luck. Finally we had a service call from fireplace dealer for $150.00 to tell us the propane was turned of at the tank and that was the problem. At the same time we got an ominous notice that law S.196, Section 40-82-270 prohibits homeowners from modifying petroleum equipment in any way-we assume that includes turning valves set by Amerigas. Then, we got billed for a full tank of gas at $404.00. We wrote two emails to Amerigas to inquire about a credit for the gas in the old tank. No response for 1.5 months. Finally we called the customer service line and that in itself was a disaster. The call was obviously an international call center, and the first person I spoke with, Jack, implied my phone was the cause of the poor connection  problem, he appeared put out that there was a delay between talking and receiving on his end. I can assure you it was a poor connection on their part, because the gentleman lost me and I called back to experience the same issues with Joe. The second gentlemen seemed able to locate at least one of my emails and he wanted to know how much gas was in the tank. I explained to him that would be something Amerigas should have the technology to ascertain as the gauge was broken on the first tank. This took several minutes to get him to understand. His canned response was there was nothing they could do, but I pressed on. He finally assured me he understood and he would create a service ticket and I would get a call back. Well, that was four days ago. Am now exploring other propane provider options but please do not use Americas-simply poorly run company." read more

If I could give this company NO stars I would. To add another issue to the worst customer service I have ever experienced is the fact that Amerigas is only now adhering to the rule of the tank not being more than 10 feet from an ignition source. Our tank is less than 10 feet away from the AC unit. Of course, Amerigas placed the tank there over 20 years ago and the AC unit has always been in the same place. They had been filling it for us until last November when we called for a fill. They came out but didn't fill the tank. A site inspector came out a couple of weeks later and verified that the tank could not be filled in its current location. He informed us that our options were to move the gas lines or build a retaining wall between the AC unit and the tank. He told us to get estimates on moving the lines. We assumed that due to the gist of the conversation this would be at our expense. We got an estimate and it was $3900!!! He never gave us any dimensions for this retaining wall so even though it would have been the cheaper option, we weren't going to do that unless we knew exactly what would be required. If this was all my complaint was about I could actually deal with it. BUT, as others have noted, it is impossible to get anyone who can actually help me with the problem. All we want to do is either talk to someone or have them come out again and discuss the issue with us. In the meantime, the tank is red tagged so it can't be filled. I have called Amerigas no less than 15 times (including all the hangups, or the calls where someone said they were transferring me to a supervisor and instead it went to their survey!!!) I have actually spoken to 5 different people, including 1 supervisor, who were very sympathetic and understanding, and told me they would guarantee that someone from the local office would call me. Here it is, 2 months later and still no one has called us. I have been told by other sources that if Amerigas owns the tank, and they do, they are responsible for the cost of moving the lines, which is probably why no one is responding. In summary, if you have the option, use a local company. They are a national company and it is obvious they do not care what kind of "service" they provide. read more

You cannot even walk into their local office and must speak with their outsourced support people who all live outside the U.S. and are completely disconnected from what is happening locally. They have missed every delivery date they have given me and as I sit in the cold with my empty tank for nine days now, I can't believe this is 2022 and a company would treat their customers this way. By far the MOST stress I have dealt with in my life. I have been on the phone with them every day for 10 days, multiple times a day asking about our emergency delivery. It snowed, I had JUST filled our tank the week prior. All of a sudden we are at 20% in 18 days. Nothing has changed in usage. I've gotten the run around. Asked for a manager, got transferred to a survey 15 times! Quite literally had their technician cuss me out on the phone and hang up on me. Show up at my house and act like a jerk to me, because their reps on the phone told me to turn my gas off. Funny that I smelt gas, but apparently I am wrong. These people are HORRIBLE. I will be seeking a lawyer and going after them for whatever I can. I am absolutely mind blown. DO NOT use Amerigas. I have asked for corporates number, no success. Asked for a manager, no success. Been told for 10 days, we would have an emergency fill at emergency rates within 24 hours. Still NO propane. was told they tried to deliver but we were undeliverable because "we were home" "dogs were out" "weather related issues" but funny how I was home, dogs were inside, and we had sunshine and snow was melted. My neighbor got a fill up the day prior because they got heat from the local news station, but I'm undeliverable. read more

We have had Amerigas propane since 2008. Every year they get worse on delivery, customer service and website availability. As soon as I can, I will cancel their service. We supposedly have auto delivery and at this moment have been completely out of gas for almost 24 hours. They had delivery scheduled for several days go. I have called and scheduled propane delivery refill a total of four times now. Every time the date comes and goes no propane has been delivered. I have called customer service which is rerouted to somewhere else three times and keep getting a guarantee that I will get propane by a certain date. That date is never for filled. So frustrating!!! They are letting people run out of gas. Go read posts on their Facebook page by the visitors. Every winter, my in-laws fight to get gas. They are on the automatic refill and no gas yet! They called the week before Christmas and still haven't gotten any gas. It is sad that they are doing this. They blame Covid, but they were like this for several winters now. We have been AmeriGas customers for about 3 1/2 years at the property we have been renting while real - estate shopping and remodeling a house. Service is been reasonable but my experience today has been extremely disappointing. We are on a will-call service basis, which means I need to check the propane tank routinely. Apparently I've been busy, forgot, and let the tank nearly run out. When I found that I had no hot water this morning, I went out to check the gauge and found that the propane level was nearly at rock bottom. Seeing an impending crisis with the weekend looming, I called AmeriGas. I was informed that a truck could come to my house within five days to a week. WHAT???? I was also informed that I could receive "expedited" service - which meant that the truck would arrive on next Tuesday. Today is Friday. This means that we'll have a minimum of three days without being able to use the stove or to have hot water other than what I heat up in my electric teapot. Did I mention that the "expedited" service will cost an extra $150? Granted, it's a first world problem, and in another life I could be a Syrian refugee. I also acknowledge that I bear responsibility for letting the tank get so low, but geez..... I have attempted to get us on "auto fill" service for some time and have apparently been unsuccessful. What particularly bothers me is that the customer service rep appeared to be completely unsympathetic. Suffice to say, I'm glad that at our newly remodeled home we have Kamps propane instead of AmeriGas. read more

Only giving one star because I can't give them 0!! My mom called about 6 months ago to place an order for her river property. They located the account for the property and took her credit card information and charged her card. 30 minutes later, after realizing it was the wrong company she called back to cancel the order and was told she could not cancel it and get a refund because the account was not in her name. The account was in the name of her husband who had passed away a year prior. She tried to explain to them that the account is for her property and the card is her card, in her name, it was just done 30 minutes prior she had messed it up because he handled all of that in the past and he is deceased so he cannot call them. They told her the only way she could get her money back was to provide them with copy of his death certificate. In the meantime she was able to get the correct company they had been using to go fulfill the order. To her surprise, this company then tried to send someone to fill her order but couldn't because the tank had been filled. My mom was able to send them a copy of the death certificate which showed her husband had died a year before this order was placed and paid for and asked them just to please refund the card on file that they charged. They STILL refused to do that and told her they would send a check to the estate of her late husband. So shitty and SHAME on you Amerigas! It is hard enough for a grieving widow to work through all the challenges of a loved ones death but to take a payment on an account after his passing and 30 minutes later after realizing it was wrong, to make her jump through your hoops, spend months of time, multiple frustrating phone calls and still not have the refund is completely disgraceful and horrible business. read more

And, we are actually on a program where they guarantee we will not run out of gas... haha!!! Customer service is awful! If I could rate them a ZERO I would. Have been dealing with a billing issue even after the sale of my home. They came and filled my the tank with out letting me know. Previously I had called and asked when my next delivery date was and was told not till mid summer. A week later they came and filled it. Now they have sent it to collections. A couple things to add is 1 my tank was more than half full and I was not reimbursed for what they took. 2 my rental was paid up to January 2022. Never got reimbursed for that. I have had to contact then 5 times now to try and get the resolved. It's not the amount they're trying to charge me it's the principal that they are trying to collect something not owed. Suggestion to have them email you all important discussions you have and keep them for when they are in the wrong. read more

So Not only was I disappointed in the customer service when I started this account now I come back from a two-week stay in Tahoe working my butt off as a tow truck driver then on my weekend with my kids no hot water or no heat when I paid the full balance on January 19th 2017 today is February 3rd 2017 not even two weeks later and I'm shut off for a balance due that was not on the bill I am attaching pictures to prove it this company is worthless my apartment complex is going to switch in Spring because of their customer service and how they deal with customers they shut off another tenant today on accident whoops a little bit more professional would be in order to be servicing commercial accounts this company should be inspected by the county because if they're treating their customers this way who knows how the inside is working read more

Their excuse was you refused service 7 times as "my grandparents were fine on propane and didn't need continuous bills on something they were hardly using during the summer and fall. The office person a female was extremely rude and unprofessional to them. Probably loosing a customer who has had service for years due to being a scummy company. We just moved into our new house two weeks ago, called them a week and a half ago and we still don't have our tanks full. We've been told 3 different prices in propane and they claim they will be out her today to fill our tanks. Cathy, in the office has given us the worst customer service we have ever received. Not once have they made an expectation for us and actually met it. She claims they care about the customer but if that's the case my four kids and I wouldn't have been without heat and warm water in the middle of a snow storm. Their manager called yesterday and apologized and said someone will be out today. We shall see. read more
