This company is the worst. They don't care how long you go without propane. My sister and brother-in-law are elderly in their '70s they were supposed to have a delivery February 17th. It is now March 9th and they are still waiting every day.....they keep saying you're on the priority list you're on the priority list. Your getting it today for sure. I even called and they were very snotty to me because I wasn't an authorized user. And told me I had no right to ask them why the propane wasn't delivered. The thing is she rents the tank from them so she can't even go anywhere else these people are the worst I would like to know what we can do about it is there utility commission for them I don't think so because they're privately owned so they just suck. I don't even know what to say. Zero stars. They have been taken over by a company that clearly is some kind of scam. We are without heat. They told us that we have to call first to have our fuel delivered. This is news to us after using their service FOR YEARS. They have always delivered our fuel automatically. We are new customers of Amerigas and were told we needed to pay an "estimated" charge of $496.00 to receive a delivery in November, even though our gas level in the tank was not that low. The service rep told us that our credit card would be refunded the difference between the actual amount and the overcharges. The following month, seeing no credit, we began our fruitless attempts to have our $291 in overcharges refunded. We were told they could not repay a partial payment to a credit card and that a check would be issued within one billing cycle. An email response later said our check would be processed within 1 to 2 billing cycles and if not received to let "Robin" know. No check, and now no email responses. Phone calls are useless. We are told a different story every time we call. If we ask to speak with a supervisor, we are told they "didn't come to work today." The last time we talked with someone, they suggested we pay the entire bill again by check, and maybe they would refund the credit card. How are these practices legal? read more

I am extremely dissatisfied with AmeriGas. I was on program that allowed me to fill up whenever I wanted. I have a pellet stove to heat the house most of the winter and only use a half to a full tank of propane a year. Every time I call for a fill up AmeriGas is double the competitors. AmeriGas drops there price after I received quotes from other propane companies. So I cancelled them. I call 7/1 to end my service and have their tank picked up. 30 days later the tank is still there and they said it could be up to 60 business days before it's picked up that could be 3 months! They claims its do to being understaffed!!!!! Its Summer people don't need much propane its HOT out! POOR COSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!! I will never use this company again! It has now been 2 and a half months and still they have not picked up their tank this company is pathetic read more

I never write reviews but I rarely get this mad. Maybe I can help someone else avoid this horrible company. They totally failed to keep my tank full as contracted even though I called them repeatedly before I ran out. No one is manning the local office or answering the phone. The call centers are all over the US and most of the reps speak English as a second language. After the the ordeal to get my tank filled they billed me $4.729 per gallon, a totally outrageous price. That is more than $2 per hour over the going retail price in this area. I am a disabled veteran and my agreement with Amerigas is a discounted rate which they now refuse to honor and so far will not adjust my bill! I think one star is one too many for this company. read more

Truly appalling lack of customer service. I wanted to set up service for a little Forest Service cabin on Mt. Hood Oregon. Called, got pricing, got the reps email to reach out to confirm things (weird), set up an appt, and then, they didn't show up, didn't reach out, the rep never responded to multiple emails. So, called again to see if I could set up an appointment, got entirely different (more expensive) pricing, set up an account and an appt. Once again, no show, no call/text/email, nothing. The way the calls went with the reps makes me think Amerigas is just a numbers game and not in the business of serving customers. read more

(This company seems to be here twice. On Green Valley and also on Davidson address.) I called today to get a quote for propane, before letting the truck come for a top-off. (I have a gate and I don't give them the code.) The last time I got a delivery the price was $2.02 a gallon, this time they wanted $3.39 a gallon. I called 49er Propane ($2.09) and Kamps ($2.39). It's clear that being hooked into Amerigas is a bad deal. I'm thinking I should move from Amerigas. Seems all other providers are a much better deal. I am so disappointed in the customer service with this company. We have had major issues with this company more than once (including having our gas turned off for an entire weekend without warning and for no reason except that Amerigas made a mistake on their end and thought we were not paying our bill). Now this morning we smell propane on our home and believe there is a leak. We call Amerigas and they tell us someone will be out in less than an hour. 2.5 hours has gone by and we are still waiting for someone to come help us. I called for follow up and was told "cell service has been in and out and we are working to get someone out there. We will send someone as soon we can." Who knows how long that will be. Meanwhile, we can't be in our home since it smells of propane. And they say safety is their priority. read more

This would be a zero star if it could be. We ordered propane on February 4th when we had 40% left. We were told they would deliver 02/05-02/18. What a joke. They NEVER intended to come before the 18th but were too weak to just say that. And now it is the 21st and after many, many calls and emails, we still have no propane. We have two very elderly people who live here and we have had to keep our heat practically turned off, haven't been able to use our hot water heaters or fire place as well as our stove. Amerigas had the nerve to send a mass email out telling us to "prepare for cold weather". We DID prepare, AmeriGas DID NOT!!! Looking into getting rid of their tank and having a new company come in while telling everyone I can to not give them their business. Poor, poor, poor, poor customer service. read more

They were supposed to come out on November 29th to deliver our gas, but did not show up and our fuel ran out this morning. When we called, we were told they'd get around to getting us fuel but couldn't tell us if it was that day or days. Not only that, but we had been smelling gas in our furnace and called Sears out the prior week because we thought we had a leak. Sears checked everything and said we were good with our heater. So $129 was spent because Amerigas doesn't deliver it's fuel on time and we hadn't realized the true nature of the problem. The staff said they would be talking with their management about the money we spent and refunding us because of the expense, but I'm not holding my breath on them getting this solved in an acceptable manner. We will consider our options in how to recover the $129. Their fuel prices are sky high compared to the competition. The attitude we got was that they could care less and it came through loud and clear on the phone when we called. We took care of the problem and signed with a new company this morning and had a tank and fuel within two hours. Never again with Amerigas. They've become a company that does not follow good delivery schedules and their customer attitude and prices leave a lot to be desired. I've seen the other reviews about the tanks not being picked up and then games being played with charging for another year's lease. We're posting publicly that if Amerigas does not pick up their tank within 30 days, we will start charging for the tank being on OUR property. So they need to get their act in gear and come get their tank, with us supervising the removal. read more

I have been with Amerigas since 2016 and use them for just a gas insert. Initially I requested will call for propane deliveries. In 2020 I went outside and the Amerigas was here filling my tank when I didn't call. Probably because the price per gallon was higher than I normally order. I called the company and complained, but it didn't do any good. Last week I called to have them remove the tank as I will no longer have a need for propane. They stated that it will cost $149 to pump out the tank and remove it. I asked about the excess propane, approximately 140 gallons, if I would get reimbursed for it. Amerigas does not reimburse for the propane they pump out but would resell it. I believe this is completely wrong and we should be reimbursed. That's the reasons that I would not recommend this company for any propane requirements. Suggest staying away from Amerigas. read more

They were supposed to deliver propane gas back on May 3 to our Meredith, NH property, and now after five calls and five broken promises of delivery and changing delivery dates, it still has not been delivered! I get the same stories and same apologies and assurances that it will be delivered the next day, and never is. Avoid this company!!! read more

This company has got to be the worst on all levels. To start I was getting charged 3 times the rate for propane. Please make sure you do your homework before continuing to purchase propane from this company. Amerigas charged me $100 every year in addition for rental fees on the tank. If you need any help from customer service expect to wait 30 minutes to and hour for anyone to answer. I have called and got hung up on multiple times which I then needed to wait all over again. Please make sure that you have them send confirmation emails back to you. It took them two full months to pick up their tank. I traveled 3 hours and waited all day just to call and find out they never had it on the schedule and the lady I talked to set it up. When they finally picked up their tank I got charged $204 for pickup or $124/per hour. I was told multiple times on the phone that there would be no charges because of their mistake. This company is money hungry and will bend you over any way they can to get it. read more

VETERANS BEWARE Amerigas only gives veterans and disabled veterans an insulting 5 cent per gallon discount, but gives Marshall Hospital employees a $1.15 per gallon discount. A 5 cent discount does nothing for a 100% disabled veteran let alone any other Veteran who put his or her life on the line for America or "Amerigas". read more

Higher prices and their tank has been sitting there waiting for them to pickup since mid March.-8 months?!

If I could give them a zero I would. I made arrangements 2 weeks in advance of when I would need service. I moved 2 units down (25'-30'). I needed one disconnected and the other connected. I was told they would be there between 8 and 11 am today. Well he showed up and disconnected one but didn't turn on the other. The tech was was literally sitting 10 feet from the unit I needed activated and he said he couldn't do it because there wasn't a work order on his ipad. My friend took off to be at the condo because I couldn't get away from work today (month end). I have spoken to SEVEN different people today about my problem and no one has been able to tell me when they will be out to service me. I'm currently on hold (for 30 minutes now), waiting for someone to pick up the phone from the service department. If I had options, I would go elsewhere but my community has a community propane tank. Worst customer service I've seen in my 61 years of life!!!! I guess they have a call center where you speak to people all around the country (maybe even outside the country). I never spoke with the same person twice about my problem. I had to tell the same story and provide the same information to each person I spoke with. The tech told me he would be back in my area tomorrow and could fit me in. I provided them with the tech's name and schedule and they still haven't told me that someone will be out tomorrow to turn my gas on. I don't know how they stay in business. I finally gave up on waiting for someone to answer and hung up. You guys are TERRIBLE!!!!!! Direct TV is going down the same path. These CEO's need to stop lining their pockets and provide the American people with some quality service. If there were only zero stars to give. This is the worst customer service experience I've ever had, to the point that I really wonder if Amerigas is even a legitimate company. I am on automatic delivery and automatic payment, yet my propane has been at zero percent for 10 days. I have not had a propane refill since March of 2022 and now have zero. Their customer service does nothing, expect say will "email and escalate". I have been told the exact same thing by every person I have spoken to for a week now, and they literally do nothing. It is like talking to a wall. I have called every day, with the promise of, the delivery is on it's way, and nothing. The most horrible customer service as they have the power to do nothing. We have had an order in since 12/23/22 and officially ran out of propane on 1/11/23. I have spoken to a new customer service employee from India every day, and each one told me something different. For the last 4 days I have been told that emergency delivery would be done "today" I kept calling back, and they said it is on it's way, but today is the 7th day of calling and still no propane. They tell me that the supervisor will tell me the same thing (which, the one time they would transfer me to a supervisor, he did nothing) Still no propane, and cancelling account immediately with this and going local. I bought a new house and needed propane. Amerigas had a good special for first time customers. They missed the first appointment on Friday. Then locked my tank after filling it up on Monday because they didn't have time to do a safety check. They came out on Friday for a safety check and flagged my stove as natural gas. Rescheduled for Tuesday afternoon. Got a new stove on Tuesday morning, but they came out first thing in the morning instead of afternoon, before stove was delivered and installed. Rescheduled for Thursday, didn't even show up. Wouldn't even allow me to reschedule until Wednesday the next week, and then I had to wait until Tuesday if the following week. They charged me for an install, which they didn't do, and every time they said they came out, including the missed appointments. Had to fight them and could only get done of the extra charges removed. They are terrible. read more

I have been with this company on will call delivery since 2002. It's always a new policy. They flip flop all the time. It used to be COD, then you had to prepay and then they would deliver same day for a $150 extra fee and there have been various other versions. Now they take you money, and tell you 7-10 days when they actually mean 7-10 business days. This could easily translate to 13-14 days. My story this time: I ordered and paid for 150 gallons Monday Jan 16 and was told 7-10 days for delivery. I called on Monday Jan 23rd to check in when a delivery would be possible. Didn't get through and was told by automated message that customer Service was busy and wait could take up to 1 hour. Called four times with same response. I gave up. I called next day jan 24th and after a 15 minute wait spoke to someone. It's also when I found out that they meant 7-10 business days. Today was business day 10. When I called the lady (a different one) said she would put in a request and I could expect it by Tuesday. So really what they really mean is - we will schedule the delivery after 7-10days. The thing that upset me the most was when I told her that it was unacceptable that they had my money and no proper delivery time she got defensive. And when I mentioned to her that it was also unacceptable that I found out only after two calls that the first peso. I spoke to said 7-10 days and NOT 7-10 business days. I am forgiving and there were times when I have experienced good customer service but there are a few who should not be working in customer service at that place. Their propane is not the best price in town either. This used to be a good company but over the last several years i have tolerated them. All stories I have heard about propane companies are about the same so I stuck with it. I am even motivated to go solar now. It will be totally worth the investment in changing out our gas heater for an electric one. My recommendation- GO somewhere else. They are nice till you try to give them constructive suggestions or call them out on their bad service. read more

We called Amerigas yesterday with a potential dangerous gas leak! It took them 5 hours to get someone to come out to my home! We spent a total of 2 hours and 14 minutes on the phone and 30 minutes with the tech they sent. The tech charged $145.00 to check for a leak. We needed a delivery so the tech told us to call - an expedited delivery service cost us another $300.00! So, $445.00 spent and still no gas!! This is ridiculous to hold people hostage for "propane". I also requested a Supervisor call me and of course no one has. CEO is our next reach out. This isn't right!! read more

Amerigas is the worst company to deal with. I ran out of propane due to lack of service and no tank gauge to monitor the fuel level. When I requested a refill they said 7 days . I needed the propane to cook and my wife was sick at the time and 7 days was too long to wait. The rep. said for $300 he could get a sooner delivery. I tried asking the rep. several questions but his English was so bad the he had to repeat many times before I could understand. Also he refused to let me talk to any one else. I have never seen such horrible service EVER. We are on auto full... but they never came. Covid lessened their manpower, so it was a joke (and futile..) to try and reach somebody on the phone. The phone messages advises using the website chat... except that that is also not available "due to high volume." Finally we got somebody, after 2 weeks... they said they won't come until we are at 5%. That was 3 weeks ago. I have 4 kids, and a mother in law with advanced dementia.... and we are out of propane. Just a note. Amerigas wants$2.63 a gallon and Ferrill is !.99 a gallon. For giving me at my house tank 200 gallons thats $128 dollars more if I said yes to Amerigas. They seem to always be more expensive so i get ferrill instead. and I save $128 dollars or more this week. read more

Most incompetent company ever!!! Tanks already installed at Property we purchased, so we set up account in January, paid $600 to fill 2 tanks and got a delivery date of 7-10 days. It is now end of March and no gas! After NUMEROUS phone calls, hours of being on hold, no one from the company can tell us what is going on or why we haven't gotten a delivery. No one has followed through with calling us back with an explanation or a delivery date. To make matters worse, someone from the property has been there recently to completely cut the connection from tanks to the house without our knowledge. WORST service ever! read more

Nothing but problems with Amerigas and it just seems to get worse! I live up in Somerset and ordered my propane over 2 weeks ago. My delivery date was scheduled between 3-18-21 and 4-01-21. I am out of my rural area and on my profile for someone to call a day in advance so I can make sure my property gate is unlocked! Well today is the last day of my scheduled delivery and no cal no show! I called and asked what there problem is and all I got was a sorry again... I've been waiting 5 days for a tank refill. I've called several times and was assured they were coming to refill the tank but no one ever showed up. I've been on hold for hours on end only for them to hang up repeatedly making me call them again and again. The worst service imaginable, worst customer service managers, the worst company. If you have other options for another provider, go to them instead. This company is NOT WORTH GIVING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY TO. They don't care. THEY DONT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS AT ALL!! Their customer service will out right lie to you. You could be without heat or hot water for days and it doesn't matter to them. It appears that Amerigas has changed their online program for payments in the last few months. I have had a horrible experience with trying to do an online payment. I was told it has something to do with the "meter read" but that's about as far as I got for an explanation. Additionally, I was on hold forever and was transferred 3 times without resolution. Between each transfer, I experienced a long wait time. I have been a customer for many years and have always experienced great customer service until recently. Absolutely the worst! If I could give 0 stars, I would. Prohibitively expensive and HORRIBLE customer service. At least once a year we have to call for an emergency delivery because they have not completed routine deliveries. Most recently, we received a message that they could not deliver because they could not find the house! We live right on the main road AND they have been delivering here for 10 years. Seriously?! Terrible! That was more than 2 weeks ago and we are running dangerously low. They have been telling us that they will be here for the last three days and no sign of them yet! At what point is there some accountability? We would certainly be penalized if we were late paying our bill. How is it that there is no accountability for Amerigas failing to hold up their end of the bargain? If you have ANY other choice for propane, do not choose Amerigas. Someone answers immediately at the "new customer' number. When I commented, sarcastically, that it was funny someone is available to take in new customers (ie: suckers) but no one to service existing customers he copped an attitude and became argumentative and raised his voice over mine.Two emails and postal letter from company apologizing for long wait times. Trying to blame the pandemic. BS, true story is some bonehead decided it would be wise to change the business model (figured out as a result of the pandemic how much $ they could save by closing regional offices and having employees work from home). Epic failure, each employee I was finally able to speak with pointed fingers at "software problems". Today they have lost my business, arrangements being made for new company. If I could rate as a zero I would. We were customers for over 20 years-paying a yearly tank rental. The last 5 years of rental, the gauge on the tank had been broken-which resulted in running out of propane at random times. We notified them countless times & requested it to be fixed-they refused. We ran out of propane AGAIN on Dec 12, 2021when it was cold & rainy and everyone was ill-they wanted to charge me emergency delivery fees and after hour fees to deliver. Called a new company-who was WAY cheaper and brought new tank and propane out immediately. Had to call Amerigas 3 times to pick up their tank and now I'm receiving bills and late fees for the pick up fee after I was assured that these fees would be waved due to the broken tank (that I was paying for) and the situation. Called again about the bills that I'm STILL getting and was told that it was a valid charge. When I asked to speak to a manager, the woman Annahi told me she was the only one I could speak to. I have been a customer with Amerigas for the past 10 years and I received my invoice for 148 gallons the other day and was taken back when I noticed the price per gallon! $4.80 PER GALLON!!! When I called they informed me that my contract was expired and that was the going rate! I have a 278 gallon tank so if I did not have a contract with them anymore why would they deliver 148 gallons with out asking me first? I now have a new propane vendor for $2.22 per gallon.
