AmeriGas is beyond awful. When our rental contract for the tank expires, we're switching companies. I'll pay the fee to remove the tank just to be rid of these folks! Several times we called to make an appointment, waited 45 minutes, then got cut off without warning. Apparently their phone system is set to disconnect you after 45 minutes. If you do manage to get an appointment, they don't show up. They don't notify you in any way that they aren't coming, they just change your appointment time and day and don't tell you that, either. You have to call them and wait on the phone to talk with someone to find out they rescheduled you. They can't call or text or email the information?!? Twice we finally got appointments and both times they rescheduled twice on us, without notice. It's extraordinarily inconsiderate to have people waiting around for hours for a no show. After 3 years of a gas leak on my underground tank, they finally came out to fix it. The invoice is totally incorrect . There is no way to reach customer service to get my bill corrected. We operate a heavy equipment manufacturing business that requires propane for forklifts. Material cannot move and machines cannot be built unless Amerigas meets their commitment to deliver on Tuesday and on Friday. (We are only 2 miles from their depot.) They miss that simple goal over half of the time. As a result, we are delayed shipping machines. Poor service like this is just another reason to move manufacturing out of California. This company is a COMPLETE SHAM! My daughter just received a bill for $194 to "LEASE OUR OWN TANK!!!!" We both live on same property, I use another company, my daughter uses Amerigas. Unbeknownst to her, they taped over her existing meter and installed some weird device with an antennae, and rerouted their wiring to the tank. As she smelled the odor for low propane, she went out to find an empty tank - they had previously come out automatically. She learned they have been charging her DOUBLE what I've been paying, or any other propane company - over $4/gallon, and now charge a delivery fee on top of that. They are insisting now that she has to prove to them that it's not THEIR tank. We've had this property for 19 years, tank came with it and is the same original color as the house and outbuildings are, with lichen growing on the bottom-proving right there that this tank has been with the property and is not property of Amerigas. I'd like to rally all the clients that have been victimized in one way or another by Amerigas. My daughter is of course changing to Ace, who is a very reputable company and who CARE about the people they serve. Now my daughter, a single mom with her own business and 3 daughters, is without heat or hot water for the next two weeks until Ace can come out and inspect her tank and provide propane. Called them 5 times In 2 months to try to get a final bill and kept giving me the run around. 3 months later they turned me into collections. Worst company EVER! I have amerigas propane to my house already. We built a garage with unit that needs heat. But Amerigas guy ditched us twice and the third time to show up, he was RUDE and stomped off saying it was too much for him to deal with. It is about 5 feet extra feet for a line to attach (we dug the trench ourselves) and then hook it to tank which is EXISTING. Super rude and will be switching companies. read more

The fact they are still in business is surprising. We had there service for the first 2 years we've been in our house because it was the provider the previous owners had used. We started service without a contract since the tank was already onsite. After dealing with the outrageous prices every year we decided it was finally time to stop service and start with a new provider. Their customer service is HORRENDOUS, after waiting on hold for 48 minutes the woman answered the phone obviously surprised I was still on the line awaiting the cancellation confirmation. They came and removed their tanks and we had no more service. Then came the real kicker, they sent us a bill for the remainder of the propane that we did not use and they picked up. We called multiple times and settled it and had them agree they misbilled. They gave a reference number and promised not to keep billing. They continued... after months of us calling and reminding them this was incorrect they still haven't stopped. Eventually I wrote a review on the BBB and was not surprised to see all the issues they have. The better business sent them notifications of our issue and within the week we were sent to collections FOR THEIR ERROR. At this point it's borderline harassment. And I am trying to hold back from walking in and getting mad at the first person I see there. read more

Amerigas Propane in South Lake Tahoe is providing very poor customer service. With our cabin in South Lake Tahoe we are on automatic refill - we came here on Friday to find the tank empty (keeping the heater on frost protection). Called the Amerigas office and was told that the refill "was rejected". Not by us because we only come here sporadically (like every 6 months which is why we are on automatic refill). But Louis, the service rep promised expedited refill within 24 to 48 hours. Would have been nice to have our gas heater run since it snowed. But now it is Monday and no sign of a gas truck. Nice going, guys. Will switch to all-electric heating. Then you can take your tank and put it you-know-where. read more

DO NOT USE AMERIGAS!! Worst company of any kind that we have ever had to work with. We bought a house with an Amerigas propane tank. We had the tank filled. Then we bought a whole house generator and spent the next 6 weeks trying to get Amerigas to set an appointment to hook up the generator. You cannot talk to someone local. Their support is in the Phillipines and despite dozens of calls, emails, and use of their on-line form, we NEVER received a call to set up an appointment for hook-up. We contacted the propane company that we used at our previous home and they came and put their tank in and hooked up the generator. They placed the Amerigas tank out in the front yard. We have been calling for 2 months now to get them to pick up the tank and refund our money for the propane in the tank. We've been told several times that the people from their Wayland office would contact us. Absolutely nothing has happened!!! Absolutely the WORST COMPANY we've ever had to deal with!!! read more

They are HORRIBLE now! We have been with them for 21 years on a route, and things were fine. They switch to offshore phone service, and apparently switched us to will call without letting us know. Our tank empties, we call to get a fill, they say we are will call and will be a week! We explained we've been with them for 21 yeas and never had this happen, but there was no attempt to get propane quicker. I asked for supervisor, and was told they would call within 24-72 hours!!! If I could give no stars I would.This is a cooperate company that does not give a damn about their clients. They will happily and warmly sign you up with personal service and then they forget about you. I waited two whole days for a propane delivery with an electronic heads up three times of delivery coming that day, and they never came. The tank is at 2%. I was on the phone hours each of those days and then the third day they said 'oh, the order was canceled because the tank had not been registered with them?? is nt that something you would think of when signing up a new customer? after all those hours on the phone asking about propane wouldn't have someone picked up on this and made sure the delivery was actually happening ? We shouldn't run out because they are suppose to read the meter and fill. We ran out of gas a 5 days ago. We spoke to a driver and he said he couldn't fill it but he'd let the office know. We called in too, just in case and they said they'd put in a work order. Still nothing! Today we called and she said there is no work order on file and she'll put in for an emergency fill. We have no heat, no hot water, no cooktop (oven works thankfully). It's 42 degrees in the house and being sick to boot doesn't make for a pleasant experience. Hopefully they'll finally come!!! Absolutely terrible. They'll tell you they have you on their schedule and then never show up for days. Or they'll say they showed up and "couldn't deliver" when they didn't even show up at all. In short, Don't use them. My residential tank in Placerville, CA was filled showing 80 on the meter. Five days later it showed 73. I chatted with an agent and asked why the large drop with no unusual usage. He asked if I smelled or heard hissing at the tank. I said no. I asked is there a charge for inspection, he wouldn't respond to the question. The agent took it upon himself to send a technician out to inspect the tank. There was no leak. The gage is unreliable the technician advised me. The next day I got a bill from amerigas for $200.14 for the inspection I didn't order. When I questioned the bill I was told amerigas does not disclose cost to the customer for inspections for gas leaks. They stated, The charge is valid. I Am Changing Providers. They sent some speed freak out to "survey "my property, the guy never got in contact with me after five calls to him, so I called the company directly four times I was put on hold for more than 35 minutes each time, and the people I did speak to at the beginning of the phone call, who put me on hold, were the rudest, most ignorant people I've ever spoke with. This company is total scam. They add extra charges to your account for without your knowledge. They quote one price and bill you a different price. Customer service is so bad and needs an office to deal with any issues. This company is all India based except for people selling you the gas. This company mail you promotion price but charge you a different price from India customer service team. The delivery driver bill the gas correct but customer service team charges and upcharge for no reason. I have owned my own tank for over 35 years. Update. 1/3. Now AmeriGas has charged me for a delivery I didn't receive and still, no propane delivered though they want to charge me. Update. 1/10/22 and still no delivery of propane. I put my original order on 11/11/21. Today, 1/10/22 I still have no propane or heat. My tank is empty. Several times they told me my phone number would be given to the driver and he will call you tomorrow when he is on his way. No call, no show no propane. Amerigas is the most unscrupulous company out there. I called in May of 2021, to refill my propane tank. The woman at corporate (there are no more local offices) Informed me that i missed the summer fill price. (i called when I always do, in May of 2021) she quoted me a price of 2.58 a gallon. I have never paid that in the summer!! I called 2 local suppliers, both had cheaper tank rental and propane was 1.70 a gallon. Now they want $150.00 to haul this piece of junk away. I spent an hour and a half on hold yesterday without talking to someone who could help me and today over an hour. Finally I spoke to someone who dropped my bill from 4.36 per gallon to 3.99 per gallon. Needless to say I will pay this last bill use the rest of the propane in my tank and switch to a company who will pickup the phone in a timely manner and a company who charges a fair price. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! They don't care about their customers. Or they are just extremely unorganized. i see they've had an unbelievable amount of bad reviews and don't do anything about it. They left my tank turned off, I had no hot water, no stove, no dryer, no service. Can't get an appointment for someone to come out even after several phone call attempts. Finally turned the tank on myself and relit all the pilot lights. I think they went to our other home to fill tank (which was not what I requested for),they left an automated text saying tank was full and did not need gas. Shady as they get. We called in January to let them know we were cancelling and for them to take their tank once it got to a certain level. They proceeded to come onto our property when we were gone to fill it with 950$ worth of propane. When called on it they said, "oh we thought you only called to say you were thinking about cancelling. We replaced them and their tank is sitting on the front edge of my property. They had no problem coming around to charge us more, but now we need them to take their tank and they are nowhere to be found. On September 21,2022 I called from the propane tank I was renting to be picked up, I no longer was in need of it. On November 2, 2022 I called again because they had not picked it up. I began to think it was not worth it to them to pick up. On 6/7/2023 they finally picked it up, 10 months later. On 12/24/2022 I was charged me $71.00 for the tank rental. That was 3 months after it had called them to come pick up tank. I recommend that no one do business with these people. read more

Absolutlely terrible service. I used to be able to call a local dispatch and coordinate delivery around weather which matters as I live in the mountains on a dirt road. Saves everyone time. I have had multiple delivery attempts in February and March where the driver drives all the way up to the driveway and then decides not to deliver because it "looks unsafe". I have requested the driver all the be more specific but they will not call or pass along any more details. I also do not get notifications the night before of delivery even though I am told by customer advocates I will get notification. I have had the drive thoroughly plowed by back-hoe several times and maintained the drive with hand shoveling for weeks now. I am baffled what improvement the driver needs after having driven on roads with ice and snow to get to the driveway. Instead, I am forced to call the customer line and (except for once) talk to an off-shore "customer advocte" team member. They can only put in a request to have service expedte. They cannot brdge the communcation to the driver. I cannot wait to switch suppliers! read more

I've been with AmeriGas propane for over two years. I pay extra each month to have them monitor levels. I have a card on file and they are supposed to auto fill the tank. Any time it gets low. This is now the second Christmas in a row that I have not had propane they gladly take my money every month for monitoring it, while never monitoring it. I finally got them to come out and put propane in it but they did not fill it up all the way. When I called back to ask why I was on hold for over an hour before I got hung up on not only did they give me a very small ration of propane but they put a lock on the tank so I can't even use said propane now the lock they put on there is because they need to perform a leak test which someone needs to be home for and they failed to mention at all during the hours I've been on the phone. I am the best possible customer my gates, open tanks easily accessible. I have a card on file and they have permission to fill it up yet. They can't even provide such a simple basic service don't bother trying to speak to any sort of representation there? This is quite possibly one of the worst ran businesses. I've experienced in my lifetime the level of incompetence and lack of communication not to mention the ability to provide the service in which I pay for is astonishing leaving a review will probably not help anyone because every review they have is people wishing they could give zero stars?. read more

Tried 14 times to get a response. They sent me an offer to sell me my propane tank. This was after I threatened to submit a paper claiming blackmail. The email I received was to be sent back to them by simply adding the name Angele C. in the subject field. Nobody ever responds. Perhaps the most absurd firm I have ever had to deal with. My last two bills for 30 days each period was over $2,000 a month plus an additional $900 for electricity. At first they refused to sell me my tank or even lease it. They are known to simply dig up your tank (without notice) when canceling service leaving a large hole for kids to fall into. Their competitors rates save me over $700 a month. Nightmarish experience !!! Customer service has completely gone down the tubes. 2 hour hold time then was disconnected "Leave a call back number" then no return call. Emergency number on website is actually a fax #. We are extremely low on fuel down to 1% and cant get though. Was finally able to "chat" and the agent took me around in circles and still didnt hear my cry for help and did not schedule the delivery. My husband and I recently moved our family to TN and we are currently living in our RV while we search for land to build a house on. Trying to make our lives easier and get ourselves a bigger propane tank we sought out Amerigas. At first the delivery was slated according to my account 12/20 -12/23 but then the winter storm rolled through. On Tuesday 12/27 I got an automated call that the delivery would be Wednesday but we had made plans we couldn't change so I called and requested it be moved to Thursday. The Rep said she noted all that and we would receive a call or text on Thursday when they were on their way, but on Wednesday I received a text saying they couldn't deliver because no one was home. I called Thursday morning and the rep confirmed he saw the note for the requested delivery date and put us on an emergency 24 hour delivery, so we sat home Friday 12/30 but by 1PM when no one showed up I called to check as we needed propane. I was told then that service had been refused yet no one came to my RV and the address was correct she said someone would be by that day. By 4PM when no one showed up my husband called and was told they no longer service RVs (mind you we have not been shy about our living arrangements). He checked their website found they do service RVs and called back then he was told we would be placed on another 24-hour call because it hadn't been taken out of the system that it couldn't be delivered which was why the driver didn't try again. (Mind you at least for Friday no one tried. I have a clear view of the main road) At 4PM Saturday 12/31 I called again and was told well yes it was put on the 24 hour but it was processing and it would be delivered tomorrow. My account online said 12/30-12/31 nothing about 1/1 I canceled my account right then and then went in and deactivated my auto pay just in case. We ordered propane last November and my wife paid them over the phone. We've never had problems in the past 10 years, but this year changed. They took our money last November, so it's been a month. They never delivered our propane We ran out three weeks ago and are COLD They don't answer their phones They don't answer their emails They don't answer their live chat feature online I just spent over an hour on hold and they never picked up. Friends of mine say they've all been getting through and ordering propane (before I warned them). So, in order to get an actual human on the phone, I tried to "order propane" instead of "customer service" and the message said it was a 3 minute wait. I still never got through. I just asked my wife to claim theft at the bank so we can recover our money and hire another company. We can't play games when it's 19 degrees outside and we have no furnace.
