This company is awful. They're money hungry. I fell behind on bills this year and my propane got shut off. I called and they told me I had to pay around $700 to turn it back on. So I paid the $700. Then I called to get it turned on and they said I have to pay $250 more to get it turned on. So I paid it. Then I called AGAIN to make an appointment to turn it back on and they said it's $258 just to have someone come flip it back on. It's unbelievable, I cried to the manager, nobody cares. It's disgusting and I hope they get put out of business. read more

OMG, this company has the worst customer service on the planet, but it's billing department is even worse. I live in Peppermint Mobile Home Park, and was using Amerigas as a propane supplier. Last September our park management decided to use another propane provider (Suburban) to serve the park collectively, and they finished installation early October. I wrongly assumed Amerigas would automatically stop my autopay since they wouldn't be delivering, but they were still billing me for October, November and December. I have since removed my autopay, but was still being charged. I canceled my account by phone in November, December, and now again, today, in January. Each time I call, it's a minimum of 30 minute wait, but today was over an hour -- and they hung up!! They may still be charging me, and to add insult to injury, have charged a late fee. However, I put in a claim with my bank for charges paid. Suburban Propane has been delivering propane since October 2024. According to the agent at Suburban, it is incomprehensible to charge monies on a product that was not delivered. To date, I still cannot get any answers as to why or how I can be billed for service that was not provided !!! :- ( read more

This company is the worst, you can never talk to anyone local, they all sound like they're from the Philippines I had paid my rent for the year and after two months I changed companies and asked them to pick up the tank. They came 10 months later after numerous calls. The reason they finally came is because I told them I was going to scrap it. They came within a week. My son and partner smelled gas Dec 2024. Got a tech to come out 12/16/24 and found out the tank was leaking! Turns out it was leaking Nov 2024 when they got 80% filled-- down to 40% in less than month (tech thought he fixed it but no one told them anything). Still have not gotten the tank replaced!!! What a bunch of scam artists!!! No one answers and you go to a call center where no one is able to make any decisions... I requested half a tank refill and they filled it all the way. When I requested a pump out (as I didn't want to pay for the full tank refilled) they agreed. A few weeks later they did the pump out but the driver never listed it so no refund... I was able to show by how empty the tank was that the pump out happened but they still refused to refund me. After 2 dozen calls I gave up, went to Ferrellgas, and told them to take their stuff... Really disappointed with their Spvrs/Resolution agents making tons of promises, and never delivering... Whatever you do, do NOT trust them!! read more

I went up to my cabin for a 4 day weekend to discover my tank propane line was disconnected, with no explanation other than a notice that they disconnected it. Needless to say I had to turn around and go back home. No idea when it was disconnected since I never received a letter, phone call or email as to why this happened. 3 months and 4 calls later to their call center I still have no service. All I am told is that there is no note in their files that it was disconnected. I keep asking them to call the local office because they obviously would know why. It is a 3 hour drive for me and I can only go only the weekend, when they are not available to meet me. I am going to transfer to another company so hopefully cancelling with Amerigas wont be as difficult and confusing. read more

Wish I could give zero stars. I'm renting a house that unfortunately came with an AmeriGas tank. I've gotten a 3 month run-around trying to get my account set up correctly and get a delivery. I set up an online account and during the runaround they locked me out of my account, and I can't get back in no matter what I try. I can only call customer service in India or the helpless sales people somewhere in the Midwest that are just glorified secretaries for their bosses. The bosses don't follow through to actually fix your problems. This is the most messed up company I've ever dealt with. I may renegotiate my lease next year with the stipulation that the AmeriGas tank be removed and a tank from ANY other company be put in its place. It's really that BAD! I have called their support line 3 times and they keep telling me someone will call me back by Feb 6? Come on guys! This is up in the snow. I sold my house several weeks back and have been trying ever since to get Amerigas to come pick up the tank. They have made nothing but excuses as to why they can't pick it up and won't give me a date as to when they will pick it up. Service sucks since they took it over from the last company. They outsourced the call center and the nice people in the Philippines can't help with the issues. They have no local knowledge and read from a script. No personnel anywhere near Calaveras County. Phone number shows Jackson but, you are routed to a far away location. The delivery people don't live nearby and even they never see anyone. They arrive to the truck and info for the day is available for them, but, they have no contact with any person at the site. They charge $ 11.+ a month for a meter fee but no one ever comes to read the meter. It appears they either use last years reading to arrive at your billing if you are a long time customer or guesstimate average usage in your area. I filed a grievance with the State Regulatory Agency that monitors Propane Companies in California. Don't know if it worked but, two weeks later a person arrived to read the meter. Too late! I cancelled AG and joined another propane company, for almost $2.00 per gallon less than Amerigas. read more

After running out of propane once and multiple service appointments to replace a pressure regulator, we canceled service and noticed AmeriGas to pickup their tank. 2-1:2 months later they still haven't removed the tank and cannot provide a date for removal. These other reviews have it right. We bought a house serviced by AmeriGas. I paid the prior owner for the gas left behind, as per California escrow practices. Then I got a bill for a delivery 8 weeks BEFORE I bought the house. I talked to a service agent who agreed this was not my charge, she'd take it off and they'd bill the former owner. Two months later I get an overdue payment service with late charges for the former owners delivery! I called back, and got the run around. Finally the 4th agent informs me that I "took over" that former account (as opposed to what--starting a new account? That's what I did!) so I responsible for the former owners bill. Even though I already paid him, per California real estate law. They say there's nothing they can do (like bill the former owner--my guess is they can't find him). Why is this my liability, and why do I need to pay for the same gas twice? It seems a smart lawyer can make a class action suit out of this one, if this is a common practice. I didn't agree to take over anyone's account. Only to pay for mine. But it appears AmeriGas just doesn't care. It may cost me thousands to switch propane companies, but you know what, I don't care. We got a bill for tank rental and were out of propane (25%) Amerigas seemed to be too high in $$$ both in tank rental and price per gallon of propane. We decided to switch out our propane provider mostly because the local office was not available to speak too. Just a call center somewhere in "india??" I suppose. It took many calls to get them to stop the "tank rental" charge and get our tank removed. Now they want a fee to remove the tank (as per agreement I found) of $149.99. All they had to do was drive for 5 minutes pick up the tank (empty and on the streetside) it took almost 2 weeks to come pick up the tank. (multiple calls to call center (India??) to clear up the past due tank rental fee. Guess we will pay the $149.99 just to get them out of our lives. Please Amerigas, nobody likes your call center crapola and sometimes you just want to speak to your local rep. read more

Since AmeriGas purchased the previous propane company their service has been horrible. The Jamestown office is just a field office now so when you call you are routed to another state who can't answer your questions. Not to mention wait times to talk to someone average 20-40 minutes and they still can't answer when you're getting a delivery. We were on a schedule to always have our tank checked. They missed the last date to fill our tank and after realizing we hadn't had a bill in awhile we checked the gauge on propane tank. We are now on empty and have been trying to get them out for a week. After 14 years of being a customer I'm done. Horrible Service at this time and would not recommend them to anyone. OMG!!! Unfortunately when we bought our home in Arnold,Ca it came with an Amerigas tank. Their deliveries to Arnold are incredibly unreliable. We have been low on propane for days now and can't get service. It's freezing outside, no power, and we have to run our generator for only a little while to conserve propane. Waited on the line for them to answer for over an hour... They always say a delivery is pending, but we're still waiting. This is life threatening Amerigas! Get your act together! read more

I have a dear friend who recently closed her account with AmeriGas because she is moving out of town. She had to pay for the rental tank to be pumped AND was not given a refund for the amount left in the tank that she had prepaid. She was told AmeriGas does not give refunds. Absolutely horrible!!!!! I called 4 weeks ago & got a ticket created. They said 7 to 10 days then when I called to check status of delivery on the 10th day they said it takes 14 days so I kept calling every single day from the 10th day and talked to about 12 siffrwnt representatives and every single one has a diff excuse as to why I haven't gotten my propane and states there's NOTHING THEY CAN DO. Amerigas is the company from hell. I terminated my service May 31st 2019 and I am still waiting for an accurate final bill for one month of tank rental (yearly tank rental is from May 1 to April 30). I have received half a dozen bills for the full year rental and now I just got one with not only the full year rental but a late fee to boot! Every time I call they are friendly and say it will be fixed, that they cannot send me the final bill until they pick up the tank, but that has yet to happen. I want the tank off my property but its still there 2 months later. And why did I terminate my service in the first place? They charged me over $4 per gallon when the spot price was closer to $2.60. When I asked why they were charging so much more than any other service, they dropped the price to $3.75 but had no answer. They are clearly ripping off unsuspecting customers. read more

Amerigas has to be The Worst company I have ever dealt with. I know this seems strong but it is accurate. I have had 3 appointments scheduled and 3 times no one had showed up or called. i live 3 hours away from the location that is requiring the propane and each time I had to take off of work. Each time I waited and waited and no one arrive. Every time I was told there was an emergency and I had to get bumped. I was also told ever time that my case was being escalated to a supervisor and I would receive a call back. This never happened. Also every time I had to be rescheduled would be at least a week or more. I've been waiting 3 months and still no propane service. My tank is still locked and I can't get anyone to come out and light my pilots and pressure test my system. PLEASE PLEASE DON'T USE AMERIGAS IF YOU HAVE AN OPTION. This specific location in Jamestown,CA is a very poorly ran Amerigas Location! Let's start this review out 100% correct and accurately first off. We did business with this company and location to only find out almost a year later we have been getting ripped off and billed for the monthly top off of our Propane Tank while they hadn't filled our tank since April of 2020...here we are 8 months later on the Monthly Fill Up plan in December. My disabled Veteran and I are both disabled War Time Combat Veterans that have many underlying health issues in which we must be warm in the Winter and Cool in the Summer due to all of our health issues and medications we are on. My father and I randomly walked out to our propane tank to manually check how full our 250 gallon Propane Tank was to ensure we had plenty of Propane for the Holiday Season. We checked on December 19th...6 days before Christmas. Come to find out we were only at 7% full 6 days before Christmas up in the cold mountains. I then immediately called Amerigas in Jamestown, CA. Asking when our propane tank was last filled...the customer service agent confirmed we were on the monthly fill up and top off plan in which hadn't been done since April of 2020! 8 months of being billed $120-$150 a month when in fact they were lying to us about filling our tank on a monthly basis while charging us every month! I then asked why we were being billed and falsely told our tank was being topped off...they had zero excuse or explanation on why they had been literally ripping us off! I then asked when the last time our tank was filled...they said April of 2020! 8 months later! I then asked them when we would have our tank filled because we were Disabled Wartime Veterans that cannot be cold or too hot due to all of our health and medications issues. I will also remind you guys that we paid our bill every month before the actual due date to ensure this never happened. We then asked to speak to a Amwrigas Owner, Supervisor, or manager about this horrible business practice of billing good paying Disabled Veterans while lying to them about filling our Propane Tank and totally trying to take advantage of good paying customers....the Customer Service phone representatives on at least 30+ phone conversations kept making the excuse that there was no Supervisor available for a phone call back or available to even confront our problem and situation. They refused to give us any Supervisors phone number to get actual answers. They then began back pedaling non stop on the phone conversations looking for any and every excuse to tell us. I then demanded credit to fill our propane tank in which they finally agreed to after I promised Legal Action...So, here we were not even 6 days away from Christmas. I asked them when they would be sending a Truck out here to fill our tank...they ensured us over the next couple days we would have a full propane tank...so here we are on Christmas Eve...30+ phone call and conversations later of telephone customer service agent after Customer Service Agent of them telling us that we would have propane to be able to run our Central Heater so we wouldn't freeze on Christmas Day. Did this company give us a courtesy phone call or actually tell us the truth? Heck NO they didn't! My family and I froze on Christmas due to the fact this company and customer service agents boldly lied to us 30+ times on phone conversations ensuring we would have propane for heat on Christmas Day. This situation literally ruined our Christmas Holiday as the inside of our house dropped to 42 degrees Fahrenheit and we were not even able to take a shower or wash dishes because this Company lied and didn't do their jobs for 8+ months of being billed every single month with them not filling up our Propane Tank. They still have not reached out to us for an apology. They showed up the day after Christmas to fill our tank for free because they know damn well they were 100% at fault. This is by far the absolute worst unprofessional Propane Company I have ever encountered or dealt with in 40 years of life on this Earth! We highly do not recommend this company and it was an obvious and easy decision to never use or do business with this specific company or location ever again! I don't have a choice but to use this abysmal company because we are on a communal tank. I have electronic billing and most months they send a bill. Other months they send past due notices for invoices they never sent. When I called about it the first person was so inappropriate I asked to speak to another and her answers were almost as bad. I heard "I don't know why" "I'm not psychic" and "you should login each month to see if you owe us anything" WOW - with this kind of non-customer service and the experiences of all these other folks, I expect they won't be in business long. read more

This company is a joke. They charged us $11 a gallon for propane. On are final bill used 7 gallons of propane and our bill was $74. Guess they are mad because we dropped them. We only use propane for our hot water heater that's it. Are bill with them runs $53 every month. That's why we quit them. Called office they said they charge $3.90 a gallon. But we used 7 gallons you do the math. If you are smart don't use this company. So glad we went to Kamps propane . What a big difference in service and price we are very happy now!!! read more

When Proflame sold to Americas it went down the toilet. Tank rental fees went up. Delivery fees amounted to almost $30 a delivery. They were delivering when I had over 60% in my tank. I went on a will call program. Then when I called for gas they charged ME $25 for making the call PLUS all of their usual BS fees. This Winter I went through my 250 gallons in three weeks. I complained that I must have a leak. They said it would be 7-10 days for a delivery. I said I was almost out and it was below freezing. Sorry they said. A few days later I saw a truck at my neighbors. I asked him if I was next. He said I was not on his route but he'd fill my tank. I told him I think I have a leak. He said I'd have to set up another appointment to check that. Two weeks later I had 20% and we were only home for a week. When I left the house with the tank at 20% for three weeks, I had turned off every appliance and pilot. When I returned the tank was empty. Did I mention it was cold. I called Americas and they said "seven to ten days". I said my tank was empty and they had previously told me I had no leak. Oh, did I mention they had billed me at an erroneous rate for the last four years. Every delivery I would have to check and I always found them to be wrong. Well, last week when they told me seven to ten days (as I said, my tank was empty) I called JS West. This was at 2 PM. They had Joe at my house in less than fifteen minutes up here in Ridgewood to check on my system. By noon the next day I had a new 325 gallon tank, wireless monitoring of the tank, a leak check that confirmed Americas equipment was failing and a guaranteed five years at a rate 12 cents less per gallon than our "special" Ridgewood rate from Amerigas. If I could have given less than one star I would have. It would take Amerigas over a week to get propane to an 18 year customer, but JS West completely changed out my tank for a new, full one in less than 24 hours. read more
