HORRIBLE customer service!!! We ordered 15 days ago and STILL waiting for delivery!!! Have a family member in hospice care here at home but apparently that is of no concern to them. Customer service representative says they are not in contact with their drivers and can't get information on our delivery. We thought it was just an unfortunate delivery snafu the last time this happened but it is clearly an ongoing issue with this company! I've had this propane company for over 3 years now. I LEASE a propane tank from them which was clearly stated in my contract when I signed back in 2022. Last month, my tank was suddenly locked off unable to heat my pool. I called Amerigas in which they said a technician had concerns of a leak so they locked my tank off, ok no phone call no notification but I understood safety concerns so I ask them to please handle it and unlock the tank as we need to heat the pool. A week later I get a $533 bill charging me a $120 dispatch fee, $360 in LABOR and $45 in parts. I call in, assuming they made a mistake as I don't own the tank and they insist I am responsible for the repair charges. I escalate, I request my agreement in which I read every line that clearly states I am NOT responsible to repairs on a leased tank. I call in again and they tell me despite the contract I signed in 2022, they now decided all customers are responsible for the wear and tear of the tanks they do not own. RUN!!! This Company is unethical and completely taking advantage of their customers. If I have the time, I will be proceeding with a full dispute process and attorney. Its not right. Bought a tank in their self-service. Brought it home to find out the value is defective. Called them and they said to return it the same place and pay for another one. So, they want me to put a full tank back in to get a better one. I called a local number and get someone in India. Why not rename it HinduGas. read more

Amerigas is impossible to deal with via telephone. The only contact is thru the call center which must be in Asia. I have an invoice to dispute based on the cost provided by the service tech and it was billed to me incorrectly. Nobody can get me in touch with the local office. read more

The worst. I have spoken to agents multiple times that I do not want any more deliveries. I am switching to natural gas. They keep blowing up my phone with delivery notifications after an agent guaranteed me I would not get another delivery. The stress of another bill for material I can't use is impacting my work, and my health. They are the absolute worst company. Avoid them at all costs. Go any other possible route. It's been nothing but incompetent, runaround, lousy service and price gouging. They are terrible. read more

Poor customer relations. I attempted to order LP delivery online early AM on 3/29/24 . The flyer stated $1.59/gallon and 1cent tank inspection. When I attempted it was charging me $140 for tank inspection. I called andthe representative asked me to email in a copy of the ad and I would be contacted later that day. I did & received no contact. I called back the next week after returning from out of town. The representative now told me "sorry, you'll have to wait for the next sale. I asked for a supervisor and was told they would tell me the same thing." I replied I would take my business elsewhere, they replied "Hold on, I will get a supervisor. I am now 45 minutes into my call. The "Supervisor" stated I can get this taken care of. Then after another 5 minutes or so, stated "Sorry, There is nothing I can do." I sent multiple emails to which I NEVER received any response. Time to move on from Amerigas! read more

We were charged over $240 for an opinion on buying a larger tank from them, and was never told of charges.

We always receive a text that the delivery requires extra work preparation or some such nonsense. The tank is behind the house on the right side behind a fence. The backyard is entered through the fence gate on the left. Just drag the hose over the right side fence, walk around through the gate and fill the tank. It's just that easy, but apparently not for the employee(s) in the trucks they send out. They have been delivering to us since 2004 and only in the last two years have we had to reiterate the instructions almost every other delivery. Just how unthinking are these employees? What's wrong with their HR Dept. that they hire people of this low caliber. It's not a Rubic's Cube! And I refuse to call the 800 number and speak to a person whose accent is unintelligible! They charged me $250 for a survey of my property to install a gas tank. That happened in March 2024. I have been trying to contact the company for many months waiting for the survey to be delivered and for an estimate of how much I will have to pay for the tank. As of today, I have not received any service from them. This is a company that should be held accountable for its abusive business practices. read more

I have had home delivery with this company for over 25 years. They randomly increase my rates without notifying me and to an amount that is well above regional average prices. I have to contact them and argue when this occurs, but it does not alter the previous delivery charges. They also have been late by months with deliveries. And recently my deliveries have been thwarted by their delivery techs stating they were locked out, which is not true. When I call, I always get foreign speaking reps who are difficult to communicate with. read more

The website told me the propane delivery would arrive within 3 days. On the 4th day I called customer service and was told it would be within 10 days, not 3, unless I wanted to pay an extra fee of $300. Fix your systems to set customer expectations properly. The delivery eventually showed up after several more days but didn't call first like I requested. This created confusion and the guy left without filling my tank because the gate was locked. In this day and age, what service company delivers products to homes without the ability to call the homeowner if the need arises? Very disappointed. Yes, my gate was locked, but that's for HIS safety. With 4 large dogs I'm not going to just let some random guy walk in my backyard unannounced. That's why I asked them to call me first. Frustrating. Several days later after support calls and coordinating with customer service, I was back on the delivery route list with instructions to "leave gate open because we will be arriving at some point within the next several days." So, I'm still very disappointed but happy to have finally received the gas delivery. This is not the driver's fault, it's the company's failure to setup the systems that service companies use in modern times. read more

Is there a zero stars option? The reviews for this company are extremely consistent. They're bad, bordering on terrible. They've not been able to fix my online account in over 6 months. I've had 15+ calls and spent 6+ hours on with them. Still doesn't work. It's actually hard to even get a human on the phone. Usually just hold music forwarded to unaffiliated call center boiler rooms overseas. They must have a monopoly on the market here as no normal company could survive being this bad. I have a 6 week forklift replacement scheduled delivery. In 2022, they have made 3 on schedule deliveries. Since then, I have had to call, many, many times dealing with their support just to try to get gas delivered. I have spent in excess of 6 hours on the phone with them trying to get my delivery that was 12 weeks late on delivery (3 months from previous successful delivery. They used to be good, now I do not and will not recommend them at all. I do not know what has changed over there, but its not good. I have given up attempting to call them. They were supposed to call me back later the same day after our last call, that was about a week ago. Goodluck to all their current customers, they did not want my money. read more

My original appointment for service on my tank was rescheduled without my knowledge. When I called and rescheduled the appointment, i was told (and noted on the account) that the "technician" would call 1 hour prior to the appointment so that someone over the age of 18 would be at the property. Guess what... No phone call. You need to improve your customer service AND your technicians need to read the work orders! read more

Amerigas should knows how to give their life long customers the run around. We started calling on Sept 2. 2021 for delivery. Our tank ran dry and it affected the operation of our hot water heater. So much that it was not practical to repair. We are on auto fill every 12 weeks. Sir you had a delivery on April, 2021. Idiots could t do the math. It was over 20 weeks. Now, Sept 11th and still no response. Yesterday, Melissa, supervisor, says but sir I've been in this field for 30 years a d when tank runs dry, only the pilot goes out. Google it idiot, I'm 68 and in repairs and customer service for 45 years. Regardless of what they think, had they stayed on schedule, we would not have run out and our water heater wouldn't have gone down. read more

I've had a terrible experience with this propane provider. A previous tenant filled the propane tank which runs my water heater but apparently never paid. Without notice, they locked off the gas tank. I called immediately to resolve, set up a new account, and made an appointment the next day. I wasn't given a specified time but told that someone would call me when they were on the way. The tech was prompt to call around 9:30 am and said he would call when he was on the way. Around 2pm, he called to say he was on the way but at 2:05pm he called again to say he had an emergency and would call again later when on the way. At nearly 5pm, when they were about to close, I called to confirm someone was coming. The dispatcher said maybe someone could come? What? Do you routinely not fulfill service commitments to people with no hot water? Then they confirmed they found a tech who could do it and he would call me after his current job when he was on the way. Alright! So I roll up to my house at 7 and there's a happy little note on my door that says they were here but I wasn't home!!! Of course I wasn't home because they were supposed to call me when on the way! I hold a job and had a promise from Amerigas to call me. Livid from three nights of cold showers, I called customer service. A lovely representative said she would figure out how to resolve. She contacted District Manager, Barry Yocum, who said it was my fault for not being home and they have no obligation to call when on the way. I could either pay $189 for "emergency service" or try again tomorrow to get on the schedule. ?!?!?!? I literally had to make sure I heard her correctly. It was my fault that I wasn't home because no one called me to tell me they were on the way when that was the agreed plan?! I talked to Amerigas multiple times today and they clearly have my phone number. No one could give me a call when they showed up? I'm a first time Amerigas customer and the service here, especially from the District Manager Barry Yocum, was truly appalling. If your team says "we will call you" and then they don't, you should own that as the manger and make it right. You should definitely not blame the customer. NO customer service is right, but it's also evident that no one communicates amongst all areas of this company. And YOU as a customer have to stay on top of them in order to get the service you want. Very unfriendly service reps on the phone. If the tank wasn't already leased by this company - from the previous owner of the house - we would not use this company. And - they held us, the new owner, to the old contract or be locked out of the tank - that's in the ground. We then asked them to move the tank. What a hassle !!! Amerigas charges $176 surcharge if you ran out of gas and $49.99 to clean the line. I ordered a tank to be delivered on 9-13-19. Today is 9-25-19 still no delivery because the driver called out I was told. Next delivery date available is 9-30-19 since I called. Now if I ran out of gas I will be charged. Not to forget that a driver delivered only one tank full instead of 2 tanks and I paid for two in January which caused me to ran out in February and I had to pay the surcharges and was accused of using double the amount in a month with my same routines. This is probably the worst company I have ever dealt with. 0 Stars should be given as they give zero in the effort category. Billed us for someone else's bill and then put us on will call because they cant get their billing straight, funny thing was that the bill they mixed up was a friend of ours, we went to the office to straighten it out, yeah, that's where it all goes south, total idiots there.
