This is arguably the worst company I have ever dealt with. Average of 10 to 14 days for delivery of gas for home heating and they will not even take your order until tank is below 30%. We were so low during the last cold snap that our tank was empty by the time they finally got here - and we had had paid the $300 expedited 24 to 48 hour delivery fee. Did not get our gas for days. Since our tank was empty by the time we got here they said we had to pay $140 for a leak check test. Never actually saw them do the leak test but they charged us $140. And they kept our $300 expedited delivery fee even though they did not meet their contractual obligation of expedited delivery. I have called in three times with no success to get the $300 credited back to our account. Each and every time the answer is we have passed along the problem to billing and they will get back to you within two days. This has been going on since January. It is now February 19 and we still have not been refunded the $300. If you ask to speak to a manager, the canned response is always "There are no managers working today". read more

If I could give this company negative stars I would. Never have I ever encountered such horrendous service (or lack there of). Countless calls, emails, carrier pigeons, in person visits to local offices, FB reviews, and all we get is ghosted in trying to get our tank pumped out. It has been constant headaches since day one with this company and they show no signs of wanting to perform their basic job duties. When we first opened our account it took many calls and emails to just get a delivery. Every single delivery needed after was the same issue where we had to follow up multiple times and plead with them to not let us run out of heat during the dead of winter. Now that we are trying to get our tank removed they are just as horrible. We have been calling, writing, and doing everything possible to get them to pump our tank out for over 2 months. Constant follow up with them and nothing. They finally gave us a date and no one showed. Calls and emails after that date have not been responded to and the hours we have spent following up with them is absolutely ridiculous. All we want is to be done with this company forever. read more

I'm ended the auto delivery service last February after Amerigas failed to monitor my tank and deliver in time. The tank went empty and then had to pay for emergency shipment. Since then I maintain service delivery request myself but often have not received gas when requested. Latest is order placed on 12/19/2022 and no delivery...called on 12/26/2022 as I have a pool and building dependent on gas from them. Told to expect delivery within 24 hours as they'd cancelled my original order ("Delivery Team" - whatever that is) with no notice to me. No delivery within the stated 24 hours...called this am - 12/28/2022 and told that I was on list for delivery today - AT THIS POINT I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE BUT WILL WAIT ALL DAY AGAIN. My tank is leased through them so am hostage to their sad compartmentalized customer service team (located somewhere far away). Have tried to buy tank from them but they're not selling. read more

Absolutely do not use this company for propane. Over the past two years, they have failed to deliver propane in a timely fashion on three separate occasions; leaving my family without hot water, heat, the ability to dry clothes, or to cook meals. Amerigas does not care about their customers and does not care if you have been on time with payment for almost 20 years. They make ridiculous excuses for why they are unable to deliver and their customer service is abysmal at best. Any calls to the company are routed to an overseas call center. There are no means to reach the local office and the call center is either unable or unwilling to assist with any type of intervention. The only reason we even use this company at this point is that they own the tank and it costs thousands of dollars to have it removed and replaced by a more reputable business. If I could give less than one star, the rating would be more accurate. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere before you are stuck with choosing between them and paying thousands of dollars to change. read more

Remarkable, simply remarkable. It might be easier to negotiate peace with Putin, than to get your propane tank refilled. They let one tank run empty, which required an "emergency" call and delivery and then left the second tank unfilled. Leaving the second tank unfilled required a super confusing follow up call in which the "customer advocate" was completely lost, couldn't tell from the information he had access to that they actually had two tanks for us, then didn't know the size of the tanks, took two guesses both wrong. Then he's trying to estimate my delivery in gallons based on my reading of the analog gauge on the tank......What?! Why? I had to ask for a supervisor because this poor guy was struggling. What's wrong with you were just here, come back and fill the second tank please, your tanks......you brought them here.......you placed them here........you have already filled them before.......you have already billed for them before.......why is this hard?? Multiple phone calls, and NO resolution. How are they still in business? read more

So we have had Amerigas for years,on a will call basis. When they installed their tank, they used my line and regulator. This I know because I watched the installation of the tank. Since then, we have had nothing but issues. I have been told that when you call for propane, the call goes to Ohio. They are always 10 days out from a delivery, when their trucks are in my area everyday. So I hooked up a barbecue tank. The person in the office said good idea. I was home when the delivery guy showed up. Again, hey, you gotta do what you gotta do. So, a couple of days ago my wife calls them for a delivery. Told them no one would be here until friday,9/29/23. They showed up today 9/28. Put propane in the tank, and then cut my feed line, instead of contacting me. My wife calls them and was told someone would call her back soon. 5 hours,no call. Terrible service. bought house in 2019 sellers said they purchased tank in 2011 from Amerigas and had service contract in place. when setting my account Amerigas said the tank was a lease and would not provide any installation details. Had auto resupply and ran out of propane twice in 2020. In 2021 immediately after a resupply the propane was escaping from the release valve. My entire property smelled of gas. when I called to report the leak, they told me to turn the valve off, call the fire department to evacuate a 2 block radius, and they would send someone out in a day or so. on March 1, 2023 I check the tank level, at 60%, called and asked to cancel delivery and change auto resupply to will call. (you cannot change you resupply type online) they came on March 6, 2023 and filled it anyway at a 20% higher rate per gallon. when I called they said sorry you have auto resupply. read more

Amerigas has to be the WORST propane company in America. Do NOT use this company. They're terrible in meeting customer demand. They rarely deliver the propane as scheduled; even during an emergency. Even if you have paid ahead of time; they do not deliver on time. You can NEVER get to speak with a rep in the US. stay clear from this company. No empathy. They're all about money. Poor customer service. I regret using Amerigas. read more

I made a yelp account for just this. Amerigas is the single worst company i have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I purchased a home two years ago and 'inherited' a few tanks. I was able to get two deliveries without issues so i thought nothing of it. On the third delivery, the first day i was told "my drive was wet" so they couldn't deliver. i spoke to a supervisor and was swore to up and down that it would arrive in 24 hours. Obviously that did not happen. on the second day i called back after no delivery and i was told it was guaranteed to get it the following day. On now the third day my driveway was mysteriously blocked according to an email and my delivery couldn't be made but yet i have camera footage showing UPS delivering a package an hour before to my front door. I gave up and called to cancel my account. I was told to give them a 4th chance and when i said no they told it me was my choice, they tried helping and now i will be billed for removal. i guess I'll witness a miracle if they can all of a sudden drive up without a problem. Stay away from Amerigas at all cost. edit: it seems my account used my old address from google. I'm actually in Phillipsburg, NJ read more

Price gouging gas company. Would give zero stars if possible. Annual tank rental fee is $140.19; this started at $49.99 a year, increased each year to $140.19, which as far as I am concerned is price gouging. I have another very reliable provider who charges $49.99 a year and doesn't raise the rates. We discontinued service from Amerigas, and there is a pick-up charge of $213.24, including tax, plus a service dispatch fee of $63.96, including tax. A total rip off. Do not recommending getting anything from them. read more

Business account, tank exchange. For 9 years, very good service, reliable deliveries. We are a 1/week auto delivery, but for most of 2021 we are getting deliveries every 2-3 weeks. in 2021, had to call 6 times as we were low/ran out of propane. 2022 is off to a bang, 2nd time making the call already in February. Not sure how the wheels fell off the bus. What is happening with AmeriGas? I have been using them for 12+years costumer service was always great. Now costumer service is horrendous. I have auto delivery set up they haven't delivered I'm at 7% on my tank the costumer service person said to me when I called concerned about my levels and that I was told 35hours ago I would have a delivery in 24hrs. She said "I don't understand your concern" WTF we are going into a holiday weekend with a major storm temp are supposed to drop...why would I be concerned? Something has changed and now it might be time to find another company. Then they tell me I need to be here if tank goes below 5% for a leak test so I took off work yesterday and today just in case. They have always been on top of filling the tank without me calling they have remote tank monitors. Amerigas are crooks and extortionists, with poor customer service to boot. If you think you're forced to use them and their high rates and aggressive fees, simply because they own the tank on your property, think again. It's not worth it!! Do what I should have done years ago. Just uncover their tank and take the hit on their removal fees to take their tank back. You'll save so much more money in the long run using an ethical propane/gas supplier with much lower rates. By my calculation, buying my own tank and getting better rates pays for itself in 4 years, and then starts saving you tons of money. If I had done that 8 years ago, I'd be saving money by now and wouldn't have had to deal with their price gouging, bad customer service, and BS fees that I've needlessly endured until now. Take my advice: Don't wait to get out! They are crooks! It will only get worse! They are truly the worst!! read more

If you have the option, don't take THIS option. This is the second time they have totally ignored our auto refill order. They were supposed to be here to fill it the 5th... it's xmas eve and we ran out of propane. If my animals die from this cold,, I'm going on a manhunt and putting every one of you behind bars. Think I won't? As if it's not bad enough that they did this... we called at 5 am and the person said they were putting a ticket in for today... guess what never happened. At 9 we called back and they told us the drivers already picked up their allotment for the day. Now I get to be stuck at home alone on Christmas trying to keep my pipes from bursting. I hope every person involved in ruining my holiday and attempting to freeze my animals to death ends up in a frozen home with every single pipe burst wide open. Every one of this reviews is true. We are on Automatic Delivery and at least once every winter we run out of propane used to heat our house. They claim they monitor the tank level but this time even though a scheduled delivery was shown on the website for January 3 by Jan 15 they still had not come to fill the tank. I used the website and called for 5 days ( to a call center in what sounded like India) and was promised every day we would get a delivery. On the 5th day we ran out of propane. My second call of the day I asked to speak to a local manager or the dispatch and they refused. As of 4:30 pm we still have not received a delivery. read more

Incredibly unethical company. Our account is always paid in full and on time however, they repeatedly continue to fail to fill our tank on the prescheduled appointments. We are now almost out of propane and temps are freezing. We have contacted their customer service line only to be informed that they are on their way however, no one ever arrives. DO NOT USE AMERIGAS!!! This is the worst company I've ever dealt with in my entire life. When you call expect to hold for 1hr-2hr before getting a representative. I called about 5-6 times for delivery. By the time we even scheduled my tank was completely empty and I started to smell gas like a gas leak. Tech came out after I called them and he told me, he had to shut off my gas because it was empty. It took them 3 whole days before they delivered us gas, they had my husband waited all day for the delivery and we were the last stop even though, we asked days ahead to be the first stop because it was cold in the house. I'm hoping they will sell me my tank because I don't want to deal with AMERIGAS ever again. They are scammers they don't use them. read more

Customer Service is the worst and the company is negligent on customer contracts. I just bought my first home, and the previous homeowner had service from AmeriGas and was happy with it. I contacted the company to establish an account in my name and transfer the service. Everything went well with the sales rep, and he signed me up for automatic, "worry-free" delivery service. After that initial phone conversation, then everything went horribly wrong. About a week and a half ago, I woke up in the morning to no heat and no hot water. I raced to my hot water heater which powers both to find that it is not getting any gas. I then go to the tanks to find the gauge is on 0. The company neglected to maintain my automatic delivery service and allowed my tanks to go empty. I called customer service for an emergency delivery, they said someone would be right out in 24 hours. Instead it took 5 days for a delivery. When the delivery driver found my tanks empty, he filled them but he locked them out due to a company policy requiring for a technician inspection when tanks go empty. I have been calling everyday to get the technician to come to my home to unlock the tanks but the customer service reps and their supervisors said that they could not help me. One customer service rep said that a technician might not be available for 3 weeks or more! At this point, I have gone one and half weeks with no shower, not able to do dishes, not able to do laundry, and even worse NO HEAT! In order to assure my pipes didn't freeze, I had to buy 2 space heaters to attempt to keep the freezing temperatures away. Customer service reps and supervisors keep telling me that someone will contact me in a couple hours but no one calls and no one emails me. And then today I received a bill for close to $500 for propane gas that I can't even use. I don't understand how they have little to no care for their customers, and their priority is money. A utility service that is supposed to be worry-free is in reality full of worrying! read more

Hi Olga! We use Amerigas (908) 879-5399 145 W Main St, Chester, NJ 07930. We have to use them because they own our gas tank. Amerigas is required to maintain the tank, etc. They are an awful company. A few years ago, due to unforeseen circumstances, we were a bit behind in our payment plan. During an especially cold January, Amerigas would not deliver any propane gas to us unless we had cash to give them when they arrived despite being reliable customers for over 15 years with a solid payment history. read more

What word would you describe as worse than HORRIBLE? Horrendous, lousy, awful....Well if you can think of a word, that would be the word to use to describe the customer service provided by AmeriGas Propane company. If there was a way to give a NEGATIVE STAR, that is how I would rate their service. We are a first time customer and have not yet received the service we were told that we would receive. And already, we want to cease our services with AmeriGas. We are new on a property that uses propane. As we were shopping around by calling different companies to provide us services, we were told that AmeriGas has to service our tank because their "sticker" is on the tank. We called AmeriGas on Tuesday and told them that it was an emergency. We were scheduled for Thursday of the same week for a safety check and propane delivery. The safety check person came and told us that a different person will deliver the propane within 24 hours. Well, today is Saturday and each time we called, there was a discrepancy in the information provided to us. As a family, we lost patience with all the LIES that were provided by this company. There is no INTEGRITY in the information provided to us. At least, we stopped believing in the information provided over the phone because each time we called customer service or the sales department, nothing came through with the information that was given to us. We were told SEVERAL times that we were placed on an "emergency" delivery and we would get our propane on the same day. Well, I hate to tell you that we are still waiting. The automated machine gave one date for the delivery, the customer agent for scheduling gave another date, and sales gave a different date. The WORST part, we were told that someone needed to be at home for delivery. Imagine being in a COLD house with 3 kids for two days "waiting for propane delivery" that never came. WE WARN YOU TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. If you are choosing to do business with AmeriGas, you will need to allot several hours waiting on the phone to listen to the deceiving information provided by customer service (most likely outside of the USA), lots of patience to wait for the outrageous service, and lots of graces to not freeze or become ill from taking cold showers and staying in a cold house that even using a space heater is not enough to keep one room warm. It would have been a different story if AmeriGas was honest in the first place and told us when we first called that they would not be able to provide services until...(whatever date, hopefully within a week). We would have had the option to plan accordingly... stay at a family home or rent a hotel room. We couldn't make a decision because because we didn't know if they would show up or not. Our frustration is coming from AmeriGas promising services and falling short to adhere to the promises. We want OUT of this contract that we, in some way, did not choose, but automatically came with the house. AmeriGas, if you are hearing me, this is NOT a way to provide services to your first time customers. We are EXTREMELY dissatisfied and disappointed and would NEVER recommend your company to ANYONE. read more

"Thank you for calling Amerigas, where customer service and safety are our number one priority"... is the on hold message that you hear. It could not be further from the truth. I am a tenant in a house, I moved in on Feb on this year and I have had to put out nearly $2000 since. First a bogus $500 deposit, then a $250 safety inspection (which had already been done, but they denied delivery until it was done... again), and a $200 charge to hook up a stove which my landlord paid... but then I got billed for it (trying to scam double payment). But the biggest slap in the face just occurred. I was shocked to see that the tank was at 15%, since it has only been used for cooking and hot water since I have not needed heat for awhile. I called to set up delivery on Wed 05/25 and was first told that I had to pay for it in advance (which I never had to do since I moved here, I was always billed). They had me up against a wall and they were unwilling to budge, nor explain why and how the account switched to COD, so I was strong armed into having to pay for this up front. That following Friday, I noticed that they had not shown yet, which is odd because they have not yet once taken more than 2 days to fill the tanks before. I called and was rudely told that "because of the holiday weekend, it is taking longer to get delivery that that it will not completed until sometime the following week". I had a house full of people expected to arrive that Sat, and now was forced to cancel for fear that it would run out from cooking. Flash forward to today, Thursday June 2, they still have not shown. The tank is now at 2%. I had to call their 800 customer service line to be told that it will take 10 business days for them to deliver. I explained that the tanks are very close to being completely empty and he was willing to expedite the delivery for an additional $300 PLUS $100 for after hours delivery. I have never been treated like this before from a company that exclaims that customer service is their priority. ... and I just saw a truck drive by as I type this. Stay away from this company, all they care about is draining the cash out of people from every orifice. read more

I had been trying to order a Propane Tank from Amerigas since last year. When using their automated system that "easily gets you to your party", I requested "Sales". The system transfers you to their "Customer Experience Group". This is NOT the Sales department. You can not talk directly to a Sales Rep within Amerigas. There are MANY phone numbers for Amerigas. EVERY single phone number you find on the Internet takes you to their "Customer Experience" Group. This is a Call Center consisting of people talking in broken English with a script that they are reading from. I could never ever get a price from them. The Customer Experience Group then gives you a different number to call when you insist on talking to Sales. The number is different each time. Every time you call the new number, it takes you right back to the Customer Experience Group. Several times, the Customer Experience Rep said that once you have the tank installed by Amerigas, they give you the price (after the fact). Huh? Then I ask, ok, when will the tank be installed? Answer, we don't know, we currently don't have any tanks. Another time they gave me purchase prices on used tanks. Another time, they said the tank was scheduled to be installed "Next week". When I said what is the cost of the tank that is being installed, they said "We don't know, because we have no tanks". I will Never Ever call this company again, and I will let all my customers at my own company know to stay away. They should not be in business. read more

We have been an Amerigas customer since 1989 with automatic delivery. An on Thursday they had let the tanks go empty. We ran out of gas in the middle of preparing dinner. We called to get them to come fill the tanks they let run dry. Could not do it Thursday night. They do not deliver after hours or the weekend. They said they would expedite delivery. So we assumed wrongly that it meant Friday. No delivery so we called again and they oh that it wouldn't be until Monday. We couldn't believe that something that they were responsible for would not get taken care of until Monday. That is 5 day without a stove. It is almost noon on Monday and still not here. We called again. They says we are on the schedule. Unbelievable to treat a long standing customer who always pays their bills on time. And there is not recourse. We can not get reimbursed for dinner we had to buy, the inconvenience and the lack of them meeting their responsibility to keep our tanks filled. They just get to say oh sorry we will be there when we get around to it. Terrible customer service. UGI Owns this company and I do not know if they are just as bad or just do not care as long as they are making money. Most regions have limited companies to choose form and sometimes only one. There should be some kind of recourse for the companies client when they are mistreated. I could not find any. read more
