Alex, who is one of the technicians, came to my home promptly to diagnose the water leak in my garage. The leak happened to be inside of a wall so it was not going to be an easy task to fix. The company sent me a full report of the problem along with 3 different solutions. A day later, Alex was back with Luis, another technician. I have never had 2 more professional workers in my home diagnose and fix what was , quite frankly, a mess! Both were on time, friendly and quite good at their job. Zero value for me. Tech did spent time looking for my pool leak. Finally said that it was under the flagstone at the spa. He wrote up a very professional looking report. Too bad it was wrong. I had the flagstone broken out, dug down, exposed all plumbing, absolutely no leak where he indicated. Over $600 and nothing found, no improvement. Did not take the time to pressure test the plumbing. Seems like it would be a routine procedure for leak detection. I initiated an insurance claim due to an apparent water leak and wall damage (opened up with a 4-inch hole. My insurance co. hired ALD to diagnose the issue. Diagnosis: Upstairs toilet seal needs replacing. Hired a plumber to do the work. REAL Diagnosis: MULTIPLE water leaks in the pipes right behind the hole in the wall which ALD didn't bother to open up to even check. Toilet seal was replaced for nothing because the plumber relied on ALD's diagnosis. Cost will be over $2000, plus the cost of drywall repair. Thanks ALD. Please don't ever come back again. read more

I want my $500.00 back. Our pool was losing water everyday. Called American Leak Detection of Palm Springs. Someone came out and the guy seemed to know what he was doing, he spent a lot of time checking out the jets and suction lines. Then he did a bucket test to check how much water is leaking. That night it rained, I was not home when a different employee came by to check the bucket. He said the bucket had less water in it and the pool had more water in it. So it proved that we did not have a leak. Because of his report, we had the spa re-plastered. A few weeks later the side of the spa was wet and now it leaves a pool of water. We spent over $900 in tests & several hundred dollars in gas bills to heat the pool & spa & they have been unable to locate the leak(s). Unfortunately I received a $2600 quote to repair a return line in my pool from Dan at American Leak Detection after waiting a week for the estimate and having already paid $380 for the location of the leak source. The tech's equipment was either not working or he did not know how to use it. He started cutting numerous holes in my drywall in the powder room and the garage looking for the pipes. He was going to tear up the wood floors and slab. It the hot water manifold was 10' away in another wall. Two plumbers told me he was wrong. I brought in another leak detector who found everything we needed in minutes. No floors were needed to be ruined. The plumber said only one hole was needed. I have had delay after delay in getting the company to compensate me for the cost of the poor work and the drywall repair for the unnecessary holes. read more

So apparently if you call them out and it turns out the leak is not caused by plumbing issues you pay $250 for them to tell you that and refer you to someone who can fix it. I think it's absurd and a waste of time, unfortunately it's also something that would've been required under home warranty I'm sure but it's an inconvenience to have to pay out of pocket that kind of money to only be told, "we don't fix it if it isn't a "real" leak. Now I have to pay someone else to come look at the leak caused the shower doors... hopefully they don't have to refer me to someone else. read more

I had a pretty sizable leak somewhere in my in-ground spa. I had a compant come out and they couldn't find it. A couple months later my water billed tripled so I got a recommendation for American Leak Detection. They came over 30 minutes after I called, explained their prices and went to work. They found the leak in about an hour after being in the freezing water for half that time. They're not the cheapest, but then you get what you pay for. The invoice is done digitally by email and when I received it, it didn't show the payment by check I made the day of service. I emailed the company and within 30 minutes I had the answer why. Beware. I had them come detect a leak which turned out to be at the water spigot in front of the house. $250 to locate the leak which is fine, but when asked how much to fix it, $950! In shock, I asked if that was in addition to the locate fee or if that number include the location fee. It was in addition. Okay, so $1200 to locate, dig 18 inchs down, cut a pvc pipe, and glue in section up to the elbow. I was so shocked that I called another plumbing company who came right out and told me that the location of the leak could have been located without the special equipment simply by moving the dirt right in front of the spigot which was wet. All said and done the honest, ethical plumber fixed the leak for less money than American Leak detector charged to locate the leak. I called American Leak Detection and use them for all my plumbing needs. I have used them twice for my parents home in Desert Springs and once again for one of my houses in Thousand Palm. I have used Cody to help identify a leak in the wall for my parents home and he fixed it for a really good price. He even stayed late one night to fix it and didn't charge my parents overtime. About a year later, my parents pool was having some issues so I called them again and Edward came out and gave an honest opinion and gave his recommendations and ever since then the pool is running great and looks great. Lastly, I had a leak at my place a few months back and we were going back and forth with different contractors and plumbers and it was just a nightmare dealing with Insurance companies. Finally I gave American Leak Detection a call, and they sent Edward and he came out and he found in 40 minutes what two plumbers couldn't find in 3 months. It was a shower enclosure leak from my master bathroom upstairs when everyone else was telling me it was a shower pan leak. I had the contractor come out and fix what Edward recommended and that was the end of that. Bottom line is this: I have been around the block when it comes to leaks and I know how frustrating they are to deal with but I can't say anything bad about this company. American Leak Detection has proven time and time again to provide quality service at a reasonable price. I won't call any other plumber ever. We had a slab leak that flooded the master bedroom and they came as quickly as they could and then rearranged their work schedule so the repair could be made and we could once again have water turned on. We just had a horrible experience with American Leak Detection of Palm Springs. When we made the appointment, the customer service rep never told us that we had to heat our Spa prior to the appointment. When the "technician" came, he refused to get in the Spa because it was too cold and that we were told to heat the Spa before his arrival. This did not happen. My husband asked the technician if he had a wet suit. He said he was going to get one tomorrow. What? We then turned the heater to the Spa on. The technician said he would come back at 1:30. The customer service rep called less than half an hour later saying that the technician would NOT be coming back and that we would need to set up another appointment. We will. The team came out to determine why my spa was losing water. They have several ways to tell, each a bit more expensive than the last. I was not able to have them go "all in", but i did need to find out where the water was going. They did some simple tests, determined the likely leak and patched it with a type of caulking compound. They would not guarantee that they had fixed the issue, nor that it would last, but they also didn't charge very much. It is now almost a year later and the spa has not leaked since. i know that at some point i will have to have the real fix done, but for now, this is working just fine. read more

I would like to first start of by saying my home was completely soaked with water on the floors of my interior, my concern was I did not know where the water was coming from, (if happened after the super heavy rains we had this past winter) so my neighbor who discovered this un-forseen nightmare quickly told me to call American Leak Detection because she had used them in the past and she graciously explained how amazing this company was...so without delay I phoned and I was happy to hear that Miriam picked up the phone, I could understand her perfectly and she listened to my concern and assured me that she would have someone out promptly to investigate my unpleasant issue. Within a day a gentleman showed up named Shane showed up and greeted himself and began to investigate the cause of the water intrusion. He checked the Roof, pluming pressure, out city water pressure for my home and all these items checked out to be ok, (so now I am really confused) a complete inspection and no detection of water entry. Shane's findings were good to the point that we had no internal issues with the pluming or roofing (which by the way because of this water I had the roofer's come out twice prior to American Leak Detection's arrival because I thought the water was coming from my roof) of course the roofing company charged me a fee for (so call fixing my roof, which I was told by the roof inspectors prior to buying home that the roof was ok). So frustrated with not knowing where this problem was originating from I once again called American Leak Detection and asked if I can have a more senior inspector come out and perhaps may have additional insight to the situation. American Leak Detection was so professional and understanding to my unpleasant and confusing problem they responded promptly and sent out a gentleman name Leon (who was completely wonderful) Leon with the permission of our neighbors went and investigated the joint wall connecting my property to my next door neighbor and his findings were that the SLAB of my neighbors home sits higher than my slab (causing water to drain from next door INTO my home causing flooding and water damage. I was so happy that American Leak Detection sent Leon out to do an additional investigation, it proves a second option is always advised, thank you for helping us find the cause of our un invited issue. I would recommend American Leak Detection to anyone experiencing issue with Leaks, no matter what the origin. Used them because of their very proud and bold advertised guarantee of their work. They charged us $425 to come out--found a slight leak in the filter to spa conduit--epoxied it. Thought it was steep for such a small fix but the one year guarantee I figured was a good insurance policy with a busy vacation rental. So when the spa was losing copious amounts of water after a few months I called to have them follow up on the service. I was told they would have someone out soon--but the tech they originally used was "no longer with the company" so the office woman needed to find another technician to come out. I did not hear back for two weeks so I called and left a vm. No return call. After two more weeks (now a month). I called again. And was just told that they, in fact, only guarantee "that sort of repair" for 30 days so they would be happy to send someone but we would ave to pay again. Another $425 for something the handyman would do for us for $40--no thanks. READ THEIR FINE PRINT not their big bold advertising words. read more
