I have used Ben's Plumbing previously for a faucet replacement and to put in a natural gas line to my backyard for the grill, so when I wanted a tankless water heater installed I called them. They had a great unit in stock and did a beautiful job on the installation which included getting the previous tank water heater uninstalled and new piping for the tankless. My husband and I are new to the desert after recently purchasing a home in Rancho Mirage. About 30-days after taking possession of the property and starting to move in it starts to become apparent the maintenance the prior owners had failed to perform. We had a running list of plumbing repairs which ranged from changing out a leaking wax ring on a toilet, changing the main water shut off valve, replacing all the flush kits in all the toilets to replacing a rusted out gas ring on our outdoor fire-pit. So, we looked through Yelp, found Bens Plumbing, gave them a call, and set up a date/time for all the repairs. Kyle showed up on time and completed the list of repairs we'd provided to the office. Here is what really stood out for us about Ben's Plumbing and Kyle. He showed up PREPARED with all the tools and supplies he needed and he was working FAST. We've hired quite a few plumbers in our time and it's always a disappointment when they show up, spend an hour or more looking at the job... only to tell you they don't have what they need with them to get the job done... and of course, have to come back. Since the first job we've had Kyle back a second time to upgrade a few other things like changing out all the exterior spigots that had started to leak and swap out an exterior water softener. I'm 14 days new to the desert and it can be very difficult navigating the vendors needed for a home owner. Everyone has their guy and you're told early on to get 3 estimates. Personally I prefer the family owned businesses over the larger companies even though a larger company can sometimes have a larger capacity. Also what I have noticed is you have to be very carful of swindlers. Oh the swindlers that want to burglarize your wallet is unbelievable out here in the desert. I found Ben's Plumbing on yelp. They were my 3rd call. 1st call was to a referral that I still haven't heard back from, the 2nd call was to a larger company that wanted to do a survey of the property (HA HA fat chance, I know what I need done), and finally the 3rd call was the charm! Ben's Plumbing! I spoke with controller Kathy, who is a delight and knows her stuff. On top of being professional she was super nice, and funny. She is so kind, she laughed at my stale jokes. :) We made a plan for her technician Isaiah to come out on an early morning. I was in no real hurry and it has been extremely hot. I was having the bib on an outside spigot replaced. Someone put a nut on it that was not going to budge due to the immense corrosion. No big deal. Kathy gave me an estimate for the work and any replacement parts would be in addition to the service charge. Isaiah gave me a quick curtesy call and said he would be out in 30 minutes. Isaiah the technician was finished in about 15 minutes, easy peasy. YAY! I can put on my new hose! Isaiah is one of the nicest, professional technicians I have met in the desert and you can tell he really loves the company he works with, how refreshing! We have a faucet in our spa/tub in our master bath and could not get it to stop dripping and hard to regulate the hot/cold and it was not working right. One other plumber had looked at it and said we didn't turn it off correctly! After trying several times, gave up and found Ben's Plumbing recommended by friends, checked the company here on yelp and liked the reviews. Called, set up a time and Kyle showed up promptly and was able to repair by replacing a 'gizmo' that was corroded. He showed us the part and it was very corroded. Now it works perfectly. I am so thankful for Ben's Plumbing! My parents have lived in the valley for decades, and when their water heater unexpectedly started leaking (only about ten years old, so not due for that) I wanted them to have hot water as soon as possible. My husband and I own a plumbing company about 2.5 hours away, so we couldn't help in time. Called Mon morning, Presidents' Day. Isaiah promptly called back, regular rate on the holiday and arrived on time smiling, earnest and professional. An aerosol cap had gone down toilet with a flush. Toilet was clogged. He got right to it. Took care of everything efficiently and with courtesy. In less than one hour, all was done. Prompt and Courteous John from Ben's Plumbing had to make 3 trips to my house -- none of them through any fault of his own. First to replace a shower diverter valve only to find out the part was either defective or some other defect in the shower head assembly was causing the problem. He waited patiently while I called the company who suggested we replace the actuator valve. When the actuator valve arrived, John came back and installed it. That didn't fix the problem but John talked with the customer support person at the shower head company to try and determine what the problem might be. I decided I just wanted to replace the entire shower assembly and purchased a new one. When it arrived John came back and installed. He was always cheerful and friendly -- never frustrated. He did a great job. He even came back later in the day to plug some holes with black caulking because he didn't have any with him at the time and my tile is black. Thank you John!
