Flatbread pizza and candlepin bowling?! Hell yeah. Best flatbread pizzas I have ever tasted. So much flavor in each bite. The ingredients are organic which make the pizzas a bit more pricey, but it is totally worth it! I tried the Homemade Sausage and the Cheese & Herb. Both were phenomenal. I came for a school event so there wasn't a wait to bowl. If you haven't tried candle pin bowling, you should definitely try it. It's a bit different since you don't have finger holes to grip and you get to throw 3 balls instead of 2 balls. But the essential rules are the same. This is a fun place to hang out and get some delicious pizza or maybe a beer. There is also a dining area which had nice decor so if you aren't into bowling, come try their pizzas! read more

Here is why I had to come back after a delivery order immediately to write a review: Yesterday I ordered 4 large pizzas, but received 4 large + 1 small. A happy mistake for us, I thought. For one of the large pizza, I had added a note "no mustard on one half please". It seems they did not see the note and put mustard on all the pizza. And it turns out the small pizza was not a mistake, it was a free pizza they sent without mustard to meet my request. No note, no message, no fuss. They just gifted us a pizza. read more

Located RIGHT off the Davis T stop. So convenient, but still confusing when there aren't any street signs in like.. a 6 way street criss cross apple sauce divider. Maybe it was just dark, but my friend and I had a difficult time finding where Day St was. Just know, it's not the street with all the lighted up shops on it. It's the more secluded street ANYWAYS. after finally finding this place, we find out there's candlepin bowling AND huge tables?? This place is great for groups! Their ingredients are locally grown and some are even grown on their rooftop :O We got a large and a small pizza for the 3 of us, which was PLENTY enough Small sausage- really good. There was a strong mushroom flavor, which I like and I think it tastes better with pepper flakes You can do half/half on any size, so of course we took advantage of that and got the Kalua Pork and their special for that night My favorite was the special- it had super thinly sliced potatoes, bacon, rosemary cream sauce, and spinach. YUMMM The pork and pineapple one was my least favorite, but it was still flavorful! I liked the goat cheese on it. The only bad thing is you should eat these while they're HOT. When they cool down, the crust gets harder and oilier, the pork gets tough, and it's just.. not as good. Also... I imagined flatbreads as having a thicker crust than pizza, but these were pretty much just like pizzas cut in strips lol, but I'm not complaining! The gluten free pizza crust is very good!!! Add a salad and its a great meal. I bring my friend and we share the salad, then I eat two slices and he destroys the rest of the pizza :). A friend and I ordered takeout flatbread from this place. We ordered a Large split 50-50 between the Potato and Chive and the Veggie. The latter was described on the online take-out menu as: "Changes Weekly! Veggie- THE GREEK-ZA House-made spinach and basil pesto, kalamata olives, Pineland Farms Feta, fresh tomatoes from New Entry Sustainable Farming, organic red onion, whole milk mozzarella, parmesan, organic herb mix" I assumed that this meant that this week's option was the Greek-Za - this turned out to be a bad assumption. The good: the potato and chive half of the flatbread was delicious, and the other half was still pretty good - the cheeses were nice, the crust was lovely and crispy. The bad: the Veggie half bore no resemblance to the description on the website - it just seemed to be a cheese pizza with pickles on it. No pesto, no olives, no fresh tomatoes. We would have ordered a different second half if the website had correctly indicated the weekly special. I don't think it was just a mistake by the cook, either - none of the other flatbreads listed on the website match what we got - so I'm guessing we did get the weekly vegetarian special, just the description is out of date. It would be great if the restaurant could either provide an up-to-date link to the current special, or at least replace the description with something like "Changes weekly; call the restaurant for this week's special" if it's not possible to keep it updated online. I'll probably come back to get the potato chive flatbread and try some of the other options, but I'm not going to order the veggie special again if I have no idea what I'm going to get (especially as I was eating with a friend who has some food intolerances). read more

Best gluten free pizza spot! My boy friend and I go here often because we LOVE the pizza. I'm gluten free so it's really hard to find good pizza that I can eat. These guys kill it every time. They are always very accommodating and welcoming. The staff is wonderful, everyone who has served us has been super down to earth and friendly. 10/10. Our group of 4 came for the candlepin bowling (we had never heard of it) and decided to eat while waiting for our lanes to open up. GREAT decision!! The staff is incredible and the food even more so. One of our group had the Evolution salad which he said was wonderful. Between the 4 of us, we ordered a 1/2 vegan 1/2 Flyin' Hawaiian and a Jimmy's Chicken. All were delicious! We had to get the Barbara's brownie sundae--warmed brownie with 2 scoops of ice cream, homemade chocolate sauce, and maple flavored whipped cream. Scrumptious! Great place to eat dinner! Plus there's bowling right next door for an indoor activity. I came here with a group of 6. The four of us split the house salad and a large kahlua pizza. It was plenty of food for four girls. Salad was tasty as it can be but the pizza was delicious. I have family in Hawaii so I had very high expectation. The pulled pig was to par! Second best pizza in the entirety of the greater Boston area (yes, better than Regina, peppis). Crust: hand made, so incredibly fresh. Would pay for this on its own. Sauce: sweet but not overpowering. Perfect amount. Standard toppings: they have this incredible garlic and oregano flavor that comes through in every bite. What seals the deal? Maple sausage. Truly the best pizza topping I've ever had. So sweet and savory, crumbly with no grissle. We get takeout from here all the time and if you have some time, Bowl a few rounds too. read more

What a unique place to come to. Wood fired pizza and candlepin bowling make a solid combo for spending an afternoon with friends or coworkers. The pizza is absolutely marvelous and cooked to perfection in their large pizza ovens (which are on display). From the dough spinning to your teeth biting the crust you can see the entire process in front of you. Their beer selection is excellent, really impressed with how many high quality beers on tap and in cans they have. Showing respect to its former humanity, there still exist 10 or so candlepin lanes ready for your unskilled, greasy-handed attempts at bowling. Laura J. and I moseyed in one afternoon for a spot of lunch. The dining area is large enough to escape the potential madness of the lanes, which is helpful when you want to savor the romance of a pizza parlor wedding proposal without the shrill victory cries over Bob's 4-strike turkey. The artisan, namesake offerings rock a slew of all-natural, locally sourced toppings, so we decided to split two individual items: a chicken dealy with black beans, corn, tomatoes and a sour cream drizzle, and a nitrate-free pepperoni magoo with mushrooms and wood-fired tomato sauce. Remember how RoboCop would pull a gun from his leg? From his LEG, people. Man-thing was rad. Don't listen to the menu that suggests a flatbread is good for two people. They are lying liars. A person is good for two flatbreads. I speak the truth. In all seriousness, the wood-fired oven sidling the dining room delivers wholesome, delicious grub that will have me running back faster than the guy who realized he was going to get all shot up by the buggy ED-209. After helping Jen H. and Christine A. move all day, after a long 10+ hours, we decided that we were hungry and somehow I ended up in charge of taking care of the dinner. After trying to figure out what they wanted to eat, which took about thirty minutes of confusion (I blame our long day and the exhausting, boring tasks we had been doing), I decided that we should order from Flatbread. It was nearby... but they didn't deliver. Whatever, I'll pick it up. After browsing their menu on my iPhone we settled on the following three items: - cheese and herb (small) - homemade sausage (large) - community flatbread (large) A quick phone call later and I was told that it would be ready to pickup in 15 minutes and for just ~ $45. I walked into my car, accompanied by Roni E. and off we went to pickup these damn things. A short drive later, we parked and walked quickly, as it was quite cold on this particular Fall evening. We were greeted not once, but twice. By two different people. I told them that we were picking up and they asked me to pay. They also told me that it wasn't yet ready. It had already been at least twenty minutes between the time we called and the time we picked up. I shrugged, paid and waited. Then two more staff members walked up to me, asking for my name, once again and then told me that it wasn't ready yet. We decided to go down the street to CVS to get some ice, cups and some soda. We came back and then the same three people each asked for my name and to wait. The hipster, staff members working here clearly have done there fair share of drugs because I've never see individuals with such bad memory; they asked what my name was a total of seven times. The organization comes of as chaotic and very disorganized... But finally, after another short wait, the pizzas were handed off to us and off we were. Total wait time from call to pickup: 35+ minutes. We came back and devoured all three of them. I was expecting them to be awesome and they were just decent. The large isn't all that large and they don't really like like flatbreads. They look like really thin crust pizzas if anything. I was too tired to argue, I just ate what we had. It was decent. I'd love to give this place another shot but I don't think that I'll ever do takeout from them again. On the upside, the ingredients in the pizza did take pretty fresh and pretty good. I stopped by with the boy and another couple on a Sunday around noon. The place was chill; other than a little girl's birthday party, the place was pretty much empty. I didn't experience any of the crazy crowds that other reviewers mention. I liked everything I tried at the Flatbread Company. I obviously needed some booze to get my joints nice and loose for bowling (that's a thing, right?), I got the sangria, which they only had available as a red. Let me tell you, that is a dangerous little drink. Within a couple of sips, I was feeling extra fun. For my nom-noms, I got the community flatbread, which was way more mushroom-heavy than I was expecting, but still supremely tasty. I also got to try a slice of the kalua pork pie with pork shoulder and caramelized onions instead of red onions. De-licious. I also (obviously) got dessert: the brownie sundae with pumpkin and vanilla ice cream. In terms of my ability to fit into my pants, this was probably a poor decision. In terms of having delectable chocolatey goodness in and around my mouth, it was a FANTASTIC decision. The pumpkin ice cream was sooo bomb; next time I'll definitely just get two scoops of that. The brownie was dense and fudgy, like every brownie should be. Drizzled with hot chocolate and served with a mountain of whipped cream along with the ice cream, it was every fat kid's dream. The service was good, although the brownie sundaes took forever to come out. In fairness though, our server was apologetic and made sure to give us an update. I'm not a huge pizza person, but if I were, I imagine this would be a five star review. Since I'm not though, and since I was forced to experience like 10 extra minutes of brownie sundae pre-guilt, I'll give them 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4 for local and organic ingredients. Thank god. Someone got the hint to bring back good old fashion wholesome fun. OK OK, Sacco's was always there and always a good time, but it really lacked an atmosphere that would make me want to return to over and over again. What it needed and what it got was Flatbread Pizza Co. including a brand new bar area protected by a wall of iron to keep those unruly small balls in the alleys where they belong. Sweet. The pizza is all organicated and flat, of course. The crust is chewy but crisp on the edges, just the way I like it. You can take these bites from the comfort of a table or at your alley. I quite enjoyed it along the narrow bar (which is really too narrow for standing/eating although there is a long table to lean on and set your beer on), for which if you're lucky enough to get a seat, it's key for full pizza enjoyment. My favorite is getting a front row view of people's faces whilst bowling. Not something you get to see every day. But really, why did I decide to go 5 stars? I'm just psyched that there is an option for a night out besides: pool/darts/beer, a bar night, a movie night, beer, eating ... You don't have to drink, you don't have to eat, you don't have to bowl. You have options. It's not even that bad to me that you can't guarantee a lane for bowling after 6 PM because SO MANY people are coming in. Grab a bar seat and chill. Plus, I'm in love with Flatbread in Portland where it all started, but I have to admit that the crust flavor in our 'hood is a bit tastier and crispier than the original. One of my favorite pizza joints of all time! I haven't met a pizza I didn't like here. The ingredients are fresh, the crust has the perfect crunch, and it's in a super cool atmosphere! The only downfall is that everything on the menu sounds so good you'll probably have a hard time deciding what you're gonna order. The last time I went I got both of the specials, which were priced at almost $20 each. We had the BLT and a Spinach Rockefellar. My friends and I really enjoyed both of them. It was tough picking a favorite! The BLT was delicious, with tomato, bacon bits, and fresh lettuce sprinkled on top. The Spinach was packed with an assortment of vegetables. Both pizzas were devoured in minutes. My group finished off with dessert! We had the brownie sundae, which was incredibleee. They offered us ice cream flavors of vanilla, chocolate and pumpkin! The brownie was SO delicious and soft. It tasted amazing with the vanilla ice cream. The ice cream sandwich was great too. The cookie gave a nice crunch, but was soft on the inside. So glad I found this location on our recent Boston trip! I've been to the location in PVD & love it. Perfect place for kids as everyone loves pizza, I mean flatbread! For 2 adults & 2 children we split 2 large pies. One cheese & one Sommerville special. We only left a few slices of the special & everyone was happy. Cheese is very flavorful & there's the perfect amount of char on the crust! Wish we had time to bowl so maybe next time? We went to the Davis Square Flatbread's on Friday for a friend's birthday. I had previously been to the bowling alley, so it was a change to find it completely rehauled and updated - and now with a cute little pizza joint inside! I had heard FANTASTIC things about Flatbread pizza, so I was super excited to try it. A girl at the table highly recommended the salad, so my husband and I started off splitting the organic salad (sans seaweed), which - sadly - was lacking the toasted sesame seeds. Where for art thou, sesame seeds? :( The dressing, however, just about made up for the lack of sesame seeds. They had a special steak pizza that sounded great, but then I read "homemade sausage" on the menu and decided I had to try that. So my husband & I split a large Homemade Sausage pizza: Homemade, nitrate-free maple-fennel sausage with organic sulfate-free sundried tomatoes, caramelized organic onions, organic mushrooms (we got it without 'shrooms), whole-milk mozzarella & parmesan cheese baked on organic bread dough with homemade organic garlic oil and organic herbs. Your mouth waters just reading that, right??? Well, it WAS good, but it just wasn't as flavorful as that description makes it seem. Perhaps it was the lack of tomato sauce?? (If I'd realized it was a white pizza, I might not have gotten it - or would have asked for some tomato sauce. I don't HATE white pizza, per se, I just prefer my pizza with some tomato sauce.) I digress. It was good - and the dough was great - but it just didn't live up to my expectations. I tried a bit of the Coevolution: Imported Kalamata olives, fresh Maui organic rosemary, organic red onions, local Goat cheese, fire-roasted sweet red peppers and premium whole-milk mozzarella baked on organic bread dough with homemade organic garlic oil and organic herbs. The goat cheese definitely added more flavor, but I think this was a tomato-free pizza as well. Two friends got the steak pizza (with red onions). One said the onions were too overwhelming and wished they were cooked. The other had ordered the onions caramelized and said it was perfect that way. So, our pizza came out as a small and we were quite confused. Turns out the kitchen messed up, so the waiter brought us a second small - of the exact same pizza. If we'd known we were getting 2 smalls, we would have gone for 2 different pizzas so we could get a real feel for things. Would I go back? Yes, but probably for bowling + pizza, rather than just pizza. It was WAY too loud to really hold a conversation (mostly due to all the bowling!) and I can see how hanging out, playing some candlepin with some fresh pizza from the large oven right behind you would be a fun night. read more

I have been going to this Flatbread location since before it was under new management and called "Sacco's Bowl Haven". They had pool in addition to bowling back then, but not the delicious food you can get here now. This is a great place for work-related team outings - I've taken my team here twice for bowling & food and it's been a hit each time with employees requesting we go back for our next event! People enjoy the food, the atmosphere, the beer selection and of course, the bowling. I took a friend who came in from out of town here a few weeks ago and we had a blast - we went at lunch time so we had our pick of the lanes and bowled to our heart's content while eating one of their pies and drinks. One thing to note is that if you want to come here with a group to bowl in the evenings, it can get really busy so I'd recommend calling ahead! read more

I had reserved two lanes a month ago on line...went last night 11/26....So fun! We had a 6-8p reservation for 8 people last night for my sons 20th birthday. Although parking is a nightmare, if you are willing to park on Mass Avenue in Cambridge and walk it's fine...it's only a few blocks. We got two private lanes that comfortably seated 8. No electronic scoreboards, or automatic pin clearers (remember to press the button after you play)...old school like (1986) when we played near alewife at the Bowladrome and they sold cigarettes out of a vending machine. All the staff is amazingly nice. From the super pleasant shoe guy, our accommodating waitress, an awesome manager who kept checking on us and two or three other folks helping out...we could not have asked for better service. We got a bunch of already named flatbreads, a chicken one with corn (yum), pulled pork (yum), cheese (yum), sausage with sun-dried tomatoes and mushrooms (not a hit), pepperoni (huge hit) and the vegan one (yum!). With a few beers and nonalcoholic drinks plus lanes fees it came to a total with tip at $310...not bad. The kids had fun, it's a GREAT place and we will be back. A definite hit! read more

The wait is ghastly and the service was pretty slow. However the food is great, prices are good, and the interior is just so damn cool. I got the Somerville Community Pizza. It was delicious! Earthy, fresh, and piping hot. I got the brownie sundae for dessert. They were having an ice cream snafu that night so not only did they have no vanilla ice cream, when my sundae came out with chocolate ice cream it was practically soup. I've been here a few times, along with their other restaurant in Bedford. The staff are usually nice and friendly. They're very low key which is great. The atmosphere is always busy and nose level can get a little high but still, the vibe is nice and definitely makes you want to come back, not just the food making you want to come back. Their stuff is organic, chicken is free range, and ingredients are just super fresh. They're also very accommodating. Initially my friend and I were sat closer to the oven, which was a bit too warm for us so we were moved away from it. We realise at the point, the seating area was a bit tight between other tables and since we haven't ordered yet, asked if we can just sit at the bar instead, which was no problem. The bartender Heide greeted us promptly and offered to take out drink order and recommended some dishes for us. After reviewing the menu we decided to order a jimmy chicken flatbread and a Jays Heart one. Portion size was good enough for 1 person but I think it's enough for 2 if you're not super hungry, or want to leave enough room for dessert. We also ordered a salad which was organic and again, portion size was very good. For dessert we order the brownie with vanilla ice cream drizzled with chocolate syrup and whipped cream on the site and covered with sugar powder. As for price, it's definitely more expensive than a regular pizza joint but considering the product, it's worth it!! Oh -- did I mention there's a few lanes here so you can bowl? A hidden gem! Was craving pizza late last night and decided to try this place. The pizza is legit. Tried their simple cheese pizza which I believe is called the medicine wheel. The pizza tasted fresh and not too salty. I believe they also use organic ingredients. Friendly staff as well. This has definitely become my new go to pizza place. This place is fantastic! My wife and I just went for the soft openeing (friends and family/industry only) so yeah I got free pizza and bowling all night, but I'll totally go back on a regular basis. When this place was Sacco's Bowling Haven I always said they need pizza and beer, and well now they do. The Flatbread Pizza Company kept the Sacco's name and feel and added their great selection of food and drinks. All the food is local, all the beer is local, and just about everything is organic. I hope they team up with Metro Pedal Power and get bicycle delivery of local farm food. The staff is super nice and everyone goes out of their way to make your night be the best night of your life. With 10 lanes of bowling, two stone wood powered ovens, and a bar the entire length of a bowling lane (and made from the wood of the lane that used to be there) this place is prepared to serve the best food drink and bowling you can imagine. I was already a regular at Sacco's, now with Flatbread I think I will be going here even more often. March 30th you are too far away, can't wait ot have my 30th bday party here. read more

The food is excellent at Flatbread and bowling was also a fun experience. If you are planning a larger event which requires the slightest bit of customer service, consider somewhere else. I planned a surprise birthday for my boyfriend & with bowling, food, drinks, etc., we spent probably close to $800 in a couple of hours. Food orders for each of the lanes were taken separately but when the bill came all of the lanes were together. Our waitress was not always around so I kindly asked an employee named Deborah if we could split it 3 ways. After a long back and forth, she demanded that I instead bring her 3 cards. When I explained that I am not comfortable with that, she grabbed the bill and said "you know what? If you can't do it I can take care of it" and started storming to the group to obtain 3 cards (how embarrassing for me, the customer). I again asked her to please not do that & just split into 3, she said "really?! I am going to have to ask my manager now." When I asked to speak to her, her response was "yes we can have a nice long talk with my manager" (common occurrence?). The manager was slightly more helpful, still not so concerned about her employee's behavior. Deborah was grilling me as I explained what happened (glad I made it out alive). For such a large and established restaurant, it should not be such a paramount request to split a bill 3 ways evenly. Even then, some kindness from the staff would be appreciated. The Burlington location has 10x better customer service. Not sure who is running this one and hiring the employees, as this level of rudeness is unacceptable and not something a talk can fix. read more

My favorite place to get pizza around Davis, Flatbread never disappoints. I always recommend trying the specials and saving room for the brownie sundae as dessert . The classics aka the main menu are always good (Mopsy's being my favorite) and they're more than happy to make adjustments like only putting mushrooms on one half of the pizza etc. There's always a diverse group of people from young families, a bunch of college kids, to a nice bunch of workmates. No matter what flatbread is always full of laughs and smiles as everyone enjoys their meals. If you want to bowl, I'd recommend making reservations but if you're just there for pizza you rarely have to wait more than 30 minutes, time where I usually walk around Davis. read more

Just get in early. If you get in early, and beat the crowd, you're all set. At 11:30 a.m, the service is good, the place is quiet and you can have some of their truly excellent pizza in peace. If you don't show up at 11:30 a.m, get your pizza to go. On the note of pizza, the herb and cheese pie doesn't come with sauce. That's just fine for me, but it may rub some the wrong way if they're expecting tomatoes on their pie. Their specialty pizzas almost always hit it out of the park, so experiment and find the one you like. The Somerville Community seems to be a universal favorite, though, and not just for the name. Overall, I love the pizza and I love the mission. So show up early and enjoy. read more

Brought the family here to try the pizza boy they were happy. The service was excellent and recommended the veggi pizza which we are glad he did. The pizza is chewy yet soft and very yummy. We got a large cheese, large half veggi and half sausage and a small pork pie. All the toppings are very fresh and the pizza sauce is yummy. You can tell the pizza makers have thought about each bite and made the pizza so that each one is amazing. The pork pie was sweet and savory with the bbq sauce red onions and pineapple. But honestly I would just recommend the good old cheese pie. Nothing to hid behind.. and quite yummy. Highly recommend the pizza. read more

If you like thin crust gourmet pizza you will HATE this place. Just kidding this pizza is so damn yummy you will kick yourself for not trying it sooner. The wood fired oven alone is beautiful and mesmerizing. Pizza comes out quick and hot. Worth the gourmet price if you ask me. Bar is amazingly long and suitable to host get togethers of all sorts. The absolute best. This is our favorite go to place in Providence. It's casual and reasonably priced yet the food is always fresh, seasonal and organic, local and full of flavor. I actually feel good after eating their pizza instead of greasy and slobby like I do from other pizza.. We always start with their house salad which is simple yet loaded with delicious, in season veggies. I've tried their special pizzas with pineapple (which I typically find grotesque on pizza) and barbecue pork flavors, classic cheese and everything in between. Always delicious and great staff!! If you like thin, crispy pizza, then Flatbread Company is for you! I've tried pretty much all their pizzas (school event, they ordered a bunch of stuff) and they were all yummy, no complaints. Most recently, I tried the Somerville Community Flatbread. The flatbread had a tomato base with caramelized onions, mushrooms, and we added sausage. The crust/bottom was super crispy and thin. The sauce was sweet and tomato-y. I wanted to keep eating it just to taste the sauce! I thought the sausage was a little dry, but my partner liked it. I admire that their ingredients are locally sourced. The first time I tried candy cane beets was here! They also have a ton of veggie options for my vegetarian friends :) The bowling alley is a plus. The only place I know with candle pin bowling. If you are not good, you can ask them to put the rails up for you. You can only play at each lane for 2 hours per group. Parking can be tricky. There is street parking and also some lots in Davis, but those do fill up. read more

I love their pizza. Simply love it! While I'm a big fan of your simple, gross, chain restaurant pizza (read: Dominoes) I have a big old soft spot in my heart for artisan pizza/flat breads. They are by far at the top of my list of favorites. My friend originally suggested we go here when she was meeting another one of my close friends for the first time. The atmosphere was perfect, casual but cozy. I had two pomegranate ginger mojitos and I certainly was half in the bag. The drink itself wasn't very sugary and quite refreshing. We ordered the jimmys free range chicken pizza (or something along those lines) and a simple cheesey one. Both of which were AMAZING. The sour cream lime sauce drizzled on the top of jimmys.. I was half tempted to get a side of it to dip my pizza in like a fat girl at a buffet. The atmosphere can get a little loud and crowded depending on when you go. It makes it a little difficult to talk to the staff, and usually they are pretty abrupt to begin with. I had a very awkward strained conversation with my last waitress over when how many times I had frequented Flatbreads. Sometimes.. you wish socially awkward hippies wouldn't get into customer service. I witnessed a waitress lose a credit card and have an agonizing conversation with the customers trying to find it. Probably because they could barely hear one another. (Never fear, they found the card) But, just typing about it makes me want a couple of slices. read more
