    a receipt for a restaurant

This American deli's food is hot, fresh, and tasty. Customer service stinks as of 7-6-21. I normally visit every week and DONT buy less than four combos. However; today , I bought one combo and a 3pc fish only. In the combo, I asked for hot Memphis gold sauce on my 4-pc drummies. These Penny-hungry button pushers charged me an extra $0.50 stating that I wanted extra sauce. The manager, Thad, stated that they charge extra all the time. LIE #1,2,3,& 4.!!!Not to me you won't! DO NOT mess with a Memphian with RECEIPTS. Some past receipts ATTACHED. ADVICE: If a business charges extra to put sauce on 4 little drummies, then INFORM the customer. Tell them that you will have to mix the sauce and the labor warrants $0.50 big ole cents to stir. I asked for a refund. After fussing and telling me seven times that this is a one-time refund, I gave him back the two quarters and told him that I just won't come back. You -Mgr Thad or THET- will not talk to me as if I am a child. Your repetitive "reminder" just cost you a great customer. I hope your 10 minutes of holding up the drive thru does not cost you more than the two customers that drove off while you fussed at me. That facial expression made me want to run. Good luck with that. Check out the attached receipts that prove the Big LIE UNTRUTH Mr Thet THET Manager told just to get an extra $0.50. And Miss Button pusher, I totally do not respect your deceptiveness in this matter. YOU started it all! I advise speech therapy for you little lady. I should have known better when you kept fumbling words while trying to repeat my orders. I had to REPEAT my order four times ! And you still f'unked up MISSY-led. Just to think that the first time I visited here (Grand Opening) , they served me an insect on my fries. I waited a few weeks, went back; all was good until today! Strike#2. You're OUT!! Oh well- Bye fly fries.

I've passed by 7 Mares for years, riveted by the sweet murals with sharks, mermaids, and Mexican dishes painted in the windows, and yet paralyzed by thoughts of a massive language barrier, or a filthy establishment, or something darker - with fear driving my fantasies inevitably to a cartel-style execution awaiting me inside. But I've also imagined it to be the next great Mexican restaurant in town, which I'm on a continual quest to find. I finally got the nerve to go in today, and I was worried for all the wrong reasons. Make no mistake, this IS a dicey part of town. There is a lot of, uh, colorful foot traffic. (El 7 Mares shares its building with a small corner store.) But 7 Mares is an oasis from the outside. No record scratched when I walked in. It was cheerful (with plenty of Halloween decorations adding spirit) and clean enough upon a cursory inspection. I was greeted warmly in fluent English. Even the TV was airing a program in English. (Red flag?) There were several (diverse!) tables of customers in the small front room, with a few people at the tin-roofed bar. I was very relieved to have my assumptions proved wrong. Sadly, the disappointing part of my experience was the food. I have to say that I didn't find the next great Memphis Mexican food today. I went with a safe, standard choice for me: enchiladas suizas with a side of guacamole. Chicken was the only option for these enchiladas. 7 Mares provides free chips and salsa. The salsa was average at best, and the guacamole I ordered was subpar. The salsa reminded me of Los Picosos - not bad, but not my type. I can't verbalize the flavor, but I think it's a combination of sweet and tangy. And quite mild. The guacamole was really creamy, as if it had been mixed with sour cream. Again, edible, just "unnatural" and not very good. I haven't had the processed grocery store guacamole in many years, but this didn't seem too far from what I remember of that stuff. As far as the enchiladas, they were not a good example in my experience. The menu mentioned a tomatillo sauce (that's what defines the dish, right?), but I swear there was nothing but cheese on these. And a ton of it at that. The chicken was good - tender and well seasoned with peppers cooked in. But these weren't the enchiladas suizas I've grown to love. I'll keep going to Playitas when I'm craving those. I may end up giving 7 Mares another try, but there are a ton of proven restaurants in the vicinity - Macon and Summer to the southeast - that already have my loyalty. Things would have to improve dramatically for me to come back a third time.

The crab claws were absolutely fire--perfectly seasoned, buttery, and cooked just right. Every bite was tender and packed with flavor, making them an unforgettable appetizer. The steak flatbread was equally delicious, layered with tender steak, fresh toppings, and perfectly melted cheese. The cocktails were expertly crafted and worth every sip. If you visit during Happy Hour (Monday-Friday, 3-6 p.m.), don't miss the discounted cocktails, featured wines, draft beers, and appetizer selections. It's one of the better happy hour values in the city. Char Restaurant +1 Then came dessert--the legendary Butter Pecan Cake. This dessert had to be created in heaven. Warm, buttery, rich with toasted pecans, and paired with creamy vanilla ice cream, every bite melted in your mouth. It's easily one of the best desserts in Memphis. Even better, this masterpiece is also served at CHAR's sister restaurant, Amerigo. From the exceptional food and handcrafted drinks to the polished service and elegant atmosphere, CHAR delivers a five-star dining experience from beginning to end. Highly recommended. Order the crab claws, enjoy Happy Hour, and whatever you do... don't leave without the Butter Pecan Cake.

The grits were hard, and the crabcake appetizer came out cold--though the sauce on top had great flavor. None of our food was served piping hot, which was disappointing. The crab claws were a highlight--buttery and well-seasoned. We did have to send our fries back for a fresh batch, and the shrimp and grits were just average. The best part of the meal was definitely dessert--the double brownie with pecan ice cream was delicious and saved the experience a bit. On a positive note, the service was good--Liz was great and very attentive--and the atmosphere of the restaurant is really nice. Overall: decent, but not a standout. 7/10

The food however was honestly meh (in my opinion). I got a creole dish and to be fair my dish looked beautiful. The plating was 10/10 but the taste for me left something to be desired. After eating this dish I questioned if I even like creole sauce because it really just wasn't that good. If this is a preference issue, I honestly don't know. I also thought the charcuterie appetizer had a weird mix of items on it from club crackers, to meat and cheese, and random veggies. Not bad but just kind of a weird mix. My husband ordered the salmon and he said it was good, not the best he's had but it was good. Other friends of ours got the white fish among the many other dishes. I did have a salad with these apples on it which was incredibly yummy. I will say though my dish looked amazing some of the other dishes were not plated well. Not to nitpick but to want to be considered a more upscale restaurant which means charging guest more money than say a local Applebee's then knowing how to appropriately garnish or drizzle sauce to elevate at plate is important (see my picture of the chicken dish). All and all not my favorite restaurant but definitely not the worst!!
