Now that this theater is remodeled so they have the wide, comfortable, reclining seats like the other theaters in the area, I enjoy coming here. Parking is tight because it's part of the mall, but you just have to resign yourself to walking over from the Sears parking lot. Seems that all of the theaters in town have been renovated within the last 12-18 months and upped their game as far as amenities. AMC Castleton is no different. Pop on to their website to see all that they have to offer, because they are plenty. Then decide it the increasing ticket cost is worth it. read more

HOLY UPGRADES. We tried the Dolby Cinema theater tonight to see Bohemian Rhapsody, and boy was I impressed! There is a mini black hallway that leads you to the theater and it really sets the pace for you to get sucked into the movie. They have super nice and new recliners and insane audio and video quality. You can feel the vibrations from the speakers on your seat! The lights on the walls are red and it's like nothing I've ever seen before. The price for the tickets to this theater are significantly more, but completely worth it if you ask me. I personally like this theater a lot because they allow you to get your drinks yourself and you add your own butter to the popcorn. They also have a full bar and tons of other food to eat here! This is one of the nicer theaters around town after its remodel. It has everything I appreciate: kiosks for ticket purchases, those amazing leather/fully reclining chairs, you get to butter your own popcorn, it's clean, and every employee I've encountered has been friendlier than usual. Everything just runs smoothly for a pleasant experience, which is not always the case at local theaters. On the downside: Concessions are pricey. REALLY pricey. The cheapest fountain drink is $6.20 with tax. If you're open to that, their menu is a step above the usual popcorn and nacho fare. And I would love to see more varied programming, but I get that's not their jam. read more

Me and my husband decided to stop and see a movie before we went out to dinner I'm glad we did usually I go to the movie theater in Plainfield but this theater wasn't bad at all they have a special on Tuesdays for $5 bucks you have to have a reward membership it is free and great to have all you have to do is give them your phone number and you get points for your movie tickets also at the concession stand you can't go wrong with that. read more

I live in Carmel and drive out of the way to come to this theater. Love the seats. Love love love. They recline and are nicely spread out from one another. There's nothing like (literally) kicking back and eating buttered popcorn. Speaking of buttered popcorn...you put your own butter on the popcorn. Aka I don't get charged for extra butter. Yes, the downside is that it isn't evenly distributed. But I've learned that if they aren't super busy, they're happy to fill your bag halfway, let you put butter on it, and then pile the rest on. I also like that you fill your own soda. Why yes, I would like 522829 options to choose from (even though I always pick Sprite regardless). Thank you. I've also always had good service. Super slow...there was only one attendant at guest services with a long line of customers. Movie was supposed to start at 8pm. It's 8:13 and we have a completely blank screen. I thought they still showed previews? Has it been that long since I've been to a movie? Sitting in a semi dark theater in silence can't be the new norm. Absolutely terrible the workers were rude and yelled in our face, the entire place was covered in trash and the counters were nasty with spilled pop and popcorn. They "have food" but literally everything but popcorn and pretzel bites were out of stock and even the pretzel bites took 30 minutes, I was late for my movie because of them, and on top of all of this they didn't even turn off the freaking lights when the movie started, 20 minutes into the movie they finally turned off the lights after several people complained to the front desk. I will not be visiting this theater again. read more

The remodel is amazing. I absolutely love the plush reclining seats and the redesigned auditoriums. They are clean and comfortable, better than nearby United Artist Theater off of 96th (sorry). The same guy helping people buy tickets at the counter was the same one scanning tickets from people who had purchased online. There were only 2 people working the concession stand. Obviously none of the 3 were free to do any cleaning as you can see in the photos. But AMC doesn't care. They respond to none of the comments on here. I love the AMC recliners. They are so comfortable. This isn't my favorite place to go. The parking lot is always packed so finding a spot can be very hard so plan to go early. We ended up here for a free screening last week and that is actually why we end up here when we get free tickets. I actually went out of the way to avoid AMC the last year while we had MoviePass since they wouldn't give me points AFTER I had already been locked into their Stubbs program for another year. It hadn't even started and they would not refund me either. But here we were and since we didn't have time for dinner we got a large combo. The popcorn wasn't the greatest and with most of the bucket seeming old my husband went out about 7:40 to get a refill and they had closed the entire concessions stand down! I never would have gotten popcorn if I had known they were planning to close early. We paid $15 for the combo and hardly ate any popcorn. I will never come here by choice comfortable seats or not. read more

Love reserved seating at a movie theater. I just enjoy knowing I am going to have a seat waiting for me. I have not been here for years and didn't realize it had been updated. I went because of the reserved seating and when I got there I was - wow! This place has been upgraded majorly. I could not only watch the movie in a clean, safe environment (I went to a daytime movie), but I could also feel the movie. The speaker system rumbled me, but it was not too loud. Have not been to this theater since they did some remodeling. I like the nice lazy boy style chairs. Less seats equal more room and not sitting against the person next to them. I did not like refreshment area. Behind the counter was a holy mess. Stuff on the floor trash and popcorn. Cups stacked on the counters some still in plastic some not. Popcorn and trash on the front counter. The drink area wasn't too bad a few straw papers on the counter. I was amazed it was ok for employees to be on their cell phones while working. As we were leaving the employee cleaning the drink area was on her cell phone and had ear buds around her neck. Id love to have a job where I can be on my cell phone or listen to music with my ear buds. read more

Was so excited for date night I planned - choosing Castleton AMC for Tarantino's opening night of Once Upon A Time in Hollywood... Disappointed and speaking on behalf of the 6 people who I heard ask the same question (before and after me): is the bar open? Why not? At 8PM on a Thursday evening of opening night for the biggest movie of the summer (whose audience is 21+ entirely) the bartenders just "chose" to close up for no rhyme or reason and even the concession stand explains that there's no set time or way to expect when it closes... I asked and pried and expressed my frustration and nothing was fixed. Don't recommend if you want a special night to go right. read more

I attended what was supposed to be the "Rocky IV" director's cut tonight at AMC Castleton Square 14 in Indianapolis. After the Sylvester Stallone interview, a wide variety of things appeared on the screen and were heard from the speakers. It was like a kid who had no idea what he was doing was just randomly and desperately pushing buttons, hoping that something would work. Nothing did. After about 20 minutes, an employee barely walked in the side door, and just said they were having trouble and talking to the help desk. He clearly had never been trained in addressing the audience, never walking to the front to make sure he was seen, nor saying anything such as "Ladies and gentlemen, may I please have your attention." Then about 15 minutes later, an employee walked to the front and said that the film was canceled, and that we could get refunds and a free ticket to any movie at that theater, but gave no information on whether the "Rocky IV" screening would be rescheduled or not. This is literally the worst AMC in the Indianapolis area. The staff is either confused or doesn't care, the popcorn never seems to be hot not matter when you go, and the prices are much higher than that of other theatres (Regal downtown, Goodrich in Fishers). I'm an AMC Stubs member and have been consistently disappointed in the service a look of this theatre. Just today, I went to see the 4 pm showing over SpiderVerse and our seats were FILTHY! One, patrons should be respectful enough to help out the staff, but staff should also clean theatres before guests arrived. While I appreciate the manager trying to make it right (he gave us free passes to a movie, which doesn't really matter because we're Stubs members) I also feel like he just wanted us out of his face. I've been here several times and have never had a poor experience! The seats are incredibly comfy and they offer a wide variety of films at all times. One of my favorite things they do during the year is be a host site for the Heartland Film Festival. If you've never been, it's definitely worth checking out! The theater offers a large parking lot and is conveniently located right by the Castleton Square Mall. So you can truly make a day of it - shopping AND a movie! read more

I actually saw Titanic (best movie ever) in the Dolby surround sound theatre. You got to pick your seats, that were reclinable and super nice. Worst movie experience. Had over 10 people working and the place was filthy and none of them were cleaning. Food and spilled drinks were all over the counters. Overpriced like all movie theaters but the luxurious reclining seats make forking out $25 for a ticket, popcorn and icee worth it. Why can't there be smaller sizes for cheaper prices? No person needs a "regular" popcorn which could easily serve a family of four. Just a thought. read more

I love coming to the AMC at Castleton. The place has gone through some serious updates and renovations, and that makes the movie-going experience so much better in my opinion. The seats are so comfortable, especially with the recliner. Bonus- you have reserve your seats ahead of showtime. I highly recommend this so that you can get the best seat! There have been times that my recliner doesn't work which is a bummer. I've even looked behind the seat to see if it was plugged in and it was-- so the recliner itself was broken. The concessions has more than just the traditional candy and popcorn. You can order actual meals like pizza and chicken strips now. I've never been to the bar area since it's been closed every time I've visited, even on weekend evenings. But I'd be interested in trying it if it was open. read more

One of Thee worst experiences I've ever had at a theatre. Went to see Moonage Daydream (Bowie doc) in the IMAX theatre. Paid 40 bux for 2 tickets. Way too small a theatre for IMAX showings. The volume was at an Insane level, from the first second. like a rocket taking off in your ears, vibrating, pounding noise. I had to stuff napkins in my ears to dull the pain. Extremely uncomfortable. I was in misery for over 2 hrs. It's a good thing I didn't look for a manager because afterwards I was told that IMAX will not let them adjust the levels, nor can they if they wanted to. Of course when I called the manager they acted like it was me, not the theatre. My friend was with me and agreed with me. Please, if you're going to see this movie go anywhere but here. I should have known to go to the larger IMAX downtown. read more

Amazing comfortable seats that you can reserve in advance so you're not stuck in the front tow. Bar area in the lobby so you can take an adult beverage into the movies. Great projection. Theaters have reclining seats and each have a cup holder. Nice place to see a movie! The renovations are now complete at AMC Castleton Square 14 and they have done a fantastic job breathing new life into this location. Now that the upgrades are in place they have switched to reserved seating. If you plan on coming here often it might be a good idea to sign up for their rewards program, AMC Stubs Premier ($15/yr), because they will waive the online ticketing fees so it doesn't cost you any extra to get your seats ahead of time. Renovations included comfy electric recliners in all 14 theatres, updated bathrooms, new floating screens, and most importantly Dolby Cinema at AMC has been installed in Auditorium 1. Dolby Cinema at AMC is the main reason I am rating Castleton Square five stars and why I will be making this theatre my primary theatre for the majority of my movie going. Dolby Cinema is basically Dolby's competing format to IMAX and is in my opinion better in every way with one minor exception, the screen size is a bit smaller than most of the IMAX screens in the area, it is not a small screen by any means but it's not IMAX large either, in every other way it is far superior. Dolby Cinema uses dual laser projectors in combination with Dolby Vision* HDR (High Dynamic Range) technology to produce very bright (over twice the brightness of IMAX) images that offer rich black levels and vibrant colors that far exceed standard and IMAX projection, images in Dolby Cinema pop on screen in a way that isn't possible in a standard digital or IMAX theatre, images can start to look nearly three dimensional without wearing glasses. But the projection is only half of the equation the other half is a very powerful Dolby Atmos* sound system, AMC uses a custom built JBL sound system with massive speakers mounted along every wall and on the ceiling, with Dolby Atmos the sound is mixed using all of the speakers in the room as separate channels for a fully immersive soundtrack, far outpacing IMAX's very limited 5 channel sound system. Plus Dolby Cinema at AMC features a different type of recliner than what you'll see in the other 13 auditoriums, these recliners have built in transducers so you can feel the sound. If you are like me and you want to watch movies with the best sound and projection available you aren't going to find anything better than Dolby Cinema. I have been to most of the Large Premium Format theatres in the Indy area, including Carmike's Big D, Goodrich's GDX, or Flix Brewhouse's MX, and each of them are quite impressive but none of them are competing on this level because none of them have laser projection or HDR. Dolby Cinema is a truly next gen presentation and not IMAX nor any of the other LPF options can compete with what Dolby and AMC are offering right now in Dolby Cinema. *Note: on occasion AMC may play films in the Dolby Cinema room that do not include Dolby Vision color grading and/or Dolby Atmos sound, if a film does not use these technologies the movie will still look and sound impressive in here but it won't match what I've described above with the rich vibrant colors and fully immersive sound. This shouldn't be a big issue though as most major films are now using the Dolby Cinema format so you shouldn't run into too many films that won't be setup for Dolby Cinema. If you want to be sure you can always check Dolby's website, they will indicate which movies have Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, if a film has both then you're all set. read more

This theater is my new favorite! I think they must have renovated it since I was here last, and it shows. The screens are HUUUUUGE and every seat is amazing. There's even a bar in the lobby now! It doesn't say it when you reserve tickets in advance on Fandango, but this theater has the big recliner seats. The feature to reserve your seats ahead of time is the best---no more wandering around in the dark trying to find somewhere good to sit, and you'll know in advance if the only seats available are in the front row. I've seen 3 movies here over the holiday season and had a great experience every time. This isn't the closest theater to me, but we go out of our way for this one. read more

The renovations are tremendous. Less space than its competitor as far as spacing, but still nice. The early part of the week is the best to come. Traffic isn't terrible, no longer wait in lines, and better service. I recommend that you always arrive at least 15 minutes early to theatres. This location allows you to pick your seats which was great. The seats are a little close. I'm a bigger gal so I hit the button a couple of times- annoying. Concession was a breeze. The staff seems friendlier when there isn't a rush. I appreciated by their quickness and how polite they were. Tues service is definitely quicker and nicer than Friday. Do you like this theater?
