Amazing experience at Ambrosia! We went to celebrate my birthday and everything was fantastic from start to finish. The service was outstanding -- our waiter, Tommy, explained everything in detail and clearly knew the menu, wine list, and dishes inside and out. He was attentive throughout the whole dinner. The food was incredible. We started with the fried steak rolls, which were delicious, along with the steak -- so tender and flavorful -- the wagyu bread, and the butcher's bacon rack -- everything was amazing. For our main course, we shared the signature filet, and Tommy kindly offered to cut it in half for us. We paired it with the mushrooms as a side, which were also delicious. By dessert we were already so full, but we ordered one anyway and we're so glad we did -- the banana bread cake was incredible. They also brought us a complimentary crème brûlée for my birthday, which was such a sweet touch. The ambiance, food, and service were all excellent. We'll definitely be back. I went here Friday night for happy hour. What a fantastic find. Every nice upscale decor. We shared the ceviche, oysters, BBQ shrimp and the pineapple bread. They were all good. The flavor of the sauce on the BBQ shrimp was amazing. The only disappointing thing was the pineapple bread. It was very fresh and soft, but we all agreed it was missing something. Then we ordered dinner. There was a smash burger with beef tallow tots, a she-crab soup, tuna tartar and seared snapper over coconut rice. I had the snapper - it was fantastic. Had a warm speak-easy feel! You can dine there as well. We were told the locals enjoy this unique spot and I can see why. In addition, there is outdoor seating with soft overhead hanging lights. A side dining room can be closed off for a private dining experience, with seating in that room for up to 40. Lots of options for special events in this space for table seating as well as menus. Even though our reservation was for 4:30pm, by the time we departed the restaurant at 6:15, the place was filled with diners yet still the atmosphere was not hectic or loud. Somehow they maintain that serene but not too stiff environment. I'd say, it was very clear to me that all the staff here is dedicated to serving others and to excellence. When you pair that with a gifted chef, sous chef, and focused kitchen staff who are dedicated, you get a 5-star restaurant. We had the absolute BEST experiences of our trip at this restaurant. We had such a good experience the first time we came, that we visited twice on our 4 day trip. Our server Jack was the kindest human being ever, and made us feel so comfortable about the handling of my husband's food allergies (gluten, dairy, etc.). He was so personable and professional, and has a ton of experience in the food industry himself. We trusted him completely, which is rare. Now on to the food, the first night I got the soft shelled crab, which was delicious. It was very lemon forward and a generous portion. My first time ever having a dish of the sort and I was pleasantly surprised. The other night, I got the Scallops and truffle risotto, which was amazing as well, but the real star was the risotto. It was so good, I would recommend getting it as an individual side with anything. We also received the crème brûlée for our anniversary, which was great as well. My husband had the shrimp cocktail, filet mignon, and elk over the course of his 2 dinners. Both were the best meals of his trip. The ambience of this place was also super nice, and there was plenty of parking since it was near a shopping center. All of the wait staff were extremely professional and seemed to enjoy working together. They all seemed genuinely happy to be there. We had an absolutely wonderful evening at Ambrosia with our friends! From the moment we arrived, everything felt elegant, welcoming, and beautifully thought out. The ambiance was sophisticated and inviting, making it the perfect setting for a special dinner. We started with the Wagyu tartare, East Coast dozen oysters, and jumbo lump crab cake. Everything was beautifully presented and delicious, and the quality of the ingredients really stood out. For our entrées, my boyfriend had the Louisiana redfish with crab meat, while I had the miso grouper. Both dishes were exceptional--full of flavor, beautifully prepared, and perfectly presented. Of course, we had to finish with dessert. The key lime pie and molten lava cake were both fantastic and the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. The Wagyu Bread-Seared Snake River Farms Wagyu, Brioch, Cured Egg Yolk, Roasted Garlic Aioli, Truffle was a unique way to start the meal. For my main, I went for the special Steak Flight - Petite Filet, Boursin Cheese, Mashed Potatoes, Bordelaise - Elk Chop, Rahlua Glaze, Truffled Risotto - Wagyu Rib Cap, Hen of the Woods Mushroom, Wagyu Butter with a side of Wagyu Tallow Fried Tots. Oddly, the only somewhat disappointing part of the flight was the wagyu rib cap. It is not that it was bad, I just was expecting more from it. Everything else was outstanding. Have been here several times and it is wonderful. Great atmosphere, wonderful service and the food is delicious. We have had Lynn the past few times as our server and she is very nice and efficient. This is not a place for young children and it is not a casual dress place. I saw a negative review where someone with a 6 year old and a 1 1/2 year old did not like it because their child acted up and the staff was not nice enough. Quite frankly, any parent should know better than to brind this age children to such a nice restaurant. Prices are not cheap, but worth it for the overall experience. We always have drink in the bar first because it has such a nice vibe. The she crab soup, ceviche, soft shell crab and taste of 30A are all delicious. Steaks are great as well. read more

We called day of but were told reservations were booked. We took a risk and went hoping to sit at the first come first serve at the bar and got lucky! The bar area is really cool, great vibe and ambiance. Service was great. We were actually so surprised at how knowledgeable the bartender was when talking to us about the difference in all the steaks! We had the pineapple butter rolls which were great! We also had the Watermelon Salad, which i'll admit I was not expecting it to be 4 things of actual watermelon. I thought it was more of a salad, with watermelon in it, but its total opposite. This should be under the appetizer list, instead of salad category. I had the elk chop which was amazing! I did medium-medium rare. Its 16oz of meat. Husband had the australian wagyu which was also wonderful, but small. We shouldve asked how many oz it was before ordering. We also had the family size mashed potatoes which were great. It was plenty for 2 people, but not over 2 people. Everything was very good! Its obviously very expensive, but if youre okay with spending $240-300 for dinner (we paid $280 with tip), we do recommend! It's bacon served with five different seasonings. 1) applewood, 2) bourbon glaze, 3) black pepper, 4) pecan, and 5) coconut/coffee. It's just bacon. The difference in flavor is subtle and you're paying for the presentation. It comes with scissors and tongs to serve. (About now, if the management is reading this they're saying, "Oh, no! They're on to us!) The bread service again is ok - not special. If you want a sweet treat before your meal then this is it - think breakfast roll. The crab cake is just ok. Do not waste your money. It's overly buttery (greasy) and they'll tell you it's one of the best crab cakes you'll ever have - it is NOT. It's also small for $38. That's the appetizer folks! Not worth it. The Caesar salad dressing's flavor was a bit like "The Emperor's New Clothes." They will tell you it's there, but you can't actually confirm its presence. The BBQ Shrimp had a very strong shrimpy flavor. Overly so. We are from southern Louisiana - we do know seafood. It's what we grew up on all of our lives. The lobster bisque has a nice flavor, but very thin - more like a soup than a bisque. The Taste of 30A was fine. It's a good way to try different dishes. The flounder was dry - definitely overcooked. We didn't say anything because the service was so painfully slow that we didn't want to mess with what little flow they had. The petite filet was typical - not special. If you find yourself at this restaurant, order the molten lava cake. It's not the best one you'll ever have, but the best item you'll get here. read more

Made reservations at Ambrosia to celebrate my husband's birthday. It came as a surprise that this restaurant is located in Watersound. From the hosts to our waitress- Teraine, the service was top tier and made the restaurant feel like a true fine dining experience. Starters- pineapple rolls + angel eggs: The pineapple sweet rolls are a must! The sweetness of the bread is truly addicting. The angel eggs were a fun play on deviled eggs. The bacon on top is an explosion of flavor in your mouth. My husband and I then shared the tour of 30A. Of the three dishes you get to sample, the snapper was my favorite. Each dish comes over a unique side featuring either coconut rice, gnocchi or risotto. Each dish was also unique and packed with flavor. It gave us such a good sample of the quality of foods at Ambrosia and the local seafood. We got Brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes as our sides. Sides are big enough to share tapas style. Also be mindful that the Brussels are topped with bacon though it can be removed upon request. Dinner was topped off with a birthday crème brûlée on the house. He thoughtfully recommended pregnancy-friendly dishes and even pointed out their mocktail menu so she could still feel included, which we really appreciated. It had been a few months since our last visit, so I decided to trust all of Stefen's recommendations--and he did not disappoint. We started with the prime rolls for an appetizer, and for our entrees my wife had the snapper while I went with the BBQ shrimp. Everything was absolutely delicious. Absolutely unacceptable treatment of families with young children. Our experience at Ambrosia was extremely disappointing. We came as a family with our 6-year-old and our 1 1/2-year-old daughter. While waiting for our food, our toddler became bored and screamed a few times -- she is ONE AND A HALF YEARS OLD. She is a baby. Babies make noise. Instead of showing even a little understanding, the manager came to our table and told us to do something about the baby because other customers were complaining. Seriously? If a restaurant does not have the patience or understanding to deal with a baby occasionally making noise, then perhaps it should clearly advertise that families with young children are not welcome. We were so uncomfortable with the way we were treated that we simply got up and left. We didn't cause a scene, we didn't argue, and we didn't bother anyone. We took our children and left. A family spending money at a restaurant should not be made to feel embarrassed or unwelcome because their 1 1/2-year-old gets bored while waiting for food. There are plenty of restaurants that understand what having children means and treat families with respect. Unfortunately, Ambrosia made it very clear that we were not welcome. My wife made a reservation for our 40th wedding anniversary. What a night! We were welcomed and every employee we came in contact with wished us a happy anniversary. We had an awesome table and a very nice young waiter from Spain. We started with the BLT wedge, and it was fantastic. My wife got the petite fillet and I went with the ribeye. Both were cooked perfectly and the quality was outstanding. The only thing I would change is, I wish we would have gotten plain mashed potatoes rather than the loaded. The loaded are filled with flavor and bacon, and it's sort of overpowered the steak, but still very good!We got the bread to go along and it is special. It took a long time to come... but it helped. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. My son ordered elk well done. That's his preference. He sent it back to the kitchen twice and it never got cooked well. This restaurant is aptly named, as it delivered one of the best dining experiences I've had. Love the atmosphere, classic steakhouse feel where you're welcomed at the front door, leave the Florida sun behind for a bit, and move into the subtly energetic bar or the peacefully bustling dining area. We started with the angel eggs--I do not like deviled eggs, but these beauties changed my mind temporarily (and not just the name change), as the egg and crispy shrimp made for incredible bites. The Hawaiian bread starter was fluffy and sweet. I tried the taste of 30-A (selection of three fish entrees): it was hard to choose a winner (snapper by a hair over the flounder), and the portions were quite generous (given the price compared to the full individual dishes, I honestly figured we'd see little bite-sized portions, but when you add on apps, delicious sides, and a bread pudding dessert that I'm still thinking about, each one was nearly enough for a meal!). There was also an elk special when we were there that needs to make the main menu, as it was beautifully cooked, tender beyond belief, and had that perfect gaminess (in a good way) of elk without the need for a ton of adornment. One comment on the cocktails worth adding: the Foster Old Fashioned was was a unique and delicious spin on the classic cocktail (using a rum base instead of bourbon, and it really was like drinking a less sweet bananas foster)--very much worth a try. Service was top notch. Bartenders were excellent, our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful, and the hostesses were welcoming. The young lady on the phone was so kind answering my questions and assisting with my reservation I was already impressed before we even arrived. Then we get the most warm welcome as soon as we walk in the door, we felt like celebrities. We each order different signature drinks and they were so fun and creative, very impressed. Then comes the food....mind blowing! The snapper entree and my husbands steak were the best we've ever had, seriously! For entrees our table ordered the Wagyu Filet - cooked perfectly, Wagyu Zabuton - my husband said it was a tad salty for him but cooked perfectly otherwise, Crab Stuff Flounder - delicious, and Redfish Pontchartrain - one of the best things I've ever had, will recommend to anyone. For sides we got the Brussels Sprouts - I hate brussels sprouts and these were delicious, Mashed Potatoes - so creamy and cheesy, and the Fried Okra - taste like homemade. We've been down to this area many times but this was our first visit at Ambrosia. We will definitely be back! Everything was perfect and we absolutely loved our server, Lynn. My wife and I went here on vacation for our anniversary and it didn't disappoint. Being from Nebraska we're spoiled by good beef.. you can say we are snobs sometimes. We both got steaks (wife got lobster too) instead of the seafood which you would want on a coastal vacation. Staff was great, ambiance was perfect, and the food was worth the money. I said I didn't want my tomahawk cut but they did it anyways, that would be my only complaint. I like cutting meat off the bone myself and getting a cool picture. Would 100% recommend this place to anyone in town looking for a high tier and classy night out.
