Super Cheesesteak
Sherie K.

I came to Philly and wanted to try a cheesesteak so I was told I should come to Ambler Pizza! I got the Super Cheesesteak without mushrooms and it was good! As a non-Philly native, I was told (by my friend) that I was ordering wrong and cheesesteaks don't need marinara, but I didn't listen and got one with it anyway. I think my friend was right, although it was good, I like the parts of the sandwich that didn't have the marinara and I dipped it in the whiz instead and it was bomb! Coming from out of state I thought it would be smaller ordering the regular but the regular was still like a foot long and hella meaty, so that was a pleasant surprise! Plenty of food without chips (or for a second meal)! The inside that I saw was small but made it feel like a family vibe, as you can see on the wall it says Family First. All in all, the food came quick, the workers were nice and the place was clean! I'd come back!

Local pizza spot that seems to always be busy with the many delivery cars they have. We tried their cheesesteak and just a plain pizza. Both were average. We also tried 2 of their specialty pizzas (BBQ chicken and Taco pizza) and both were not good at all.

ordered caesar salad with grilled chicken from Ambler Pizza and almost half the lettuce includes was bad. How can the workers make this up seeing that their lettuce is brown and even black in some places?

Right down the street from my house, always delivers whenever I need comfort food. Literally and figuratively. They're the only place that takes cash upon delivery; which as a waiter that's dope. I've been going here for almost over a decade and when people ask me where to get pizza/grub food, first mention.

Worst main course I ever had. Ever. Anywhere…read more Chicken piccata was so bad. Full of salt and the meat was so tough. When you hear someone e say it's like leather, this is what they're talking about--although I don't think I ever thought about it regarding chicken. I had about 3 bites and could not eat any more of it. Incredibly disappointing. My dining companions' meals were fine, just fine--nothing that stands out, though. We had a good server. Ambiance was fine. But we came for the food, and we left disappointed. We will not be back.

Personally, I thought the sauce was way too salty and more of the consistency of soup. It does come with a choice of salad (caesar salad or house) or soup (chicken noodle, French onion, and I think there's one more option). I got the Caesar and thought it was pretty good, I really enjoyed the dressing! The French onion soup also exceeded expectations. It was well seasoned and very cheesy. Overall, the food is decent/standard but a good deal! The restaurant has plenty of outdoor seating with string lights to enjoy the warm weather. The inside is a little more dim and has a classy tavern vibe. Relatively large restaurant that can probably seat large parties. Service was good and everyone was nice.

It came with two kinds of meats, two cheeses, olives, and roasted red peppers, which felt pretty underwhelming but u suppose reasonable for the price. The stuffed mushrooms were actually very good flavor wise, but unfortunately they arrived lukewarm. The garlic knots, however, were heavenly! easily one of the best parts of the meal . The meatballs were average but good. nothing memorable, and the calamari was nothing special either as the fish to batter ratio was off and left it a bit disappointing. For entrées, my mom's Shrimp Scampi & Linguini was overcooked and slimy, which was a letdown. My dad did enjoy his Rigatoni Pesto & Steak, so that was a highlight. The house salad was again nothing special, and my grilled chicken was burnt and unpleasantly sour. The fries were good (as fries usually are), but it was strange that the only condiment offered at first was ketchup. After asking again, we eventually found out they did have mayo. Service was mixed. Our server switched halfway through the meal, and drinks took a while to come out. Both servers were sweet and attentive, but they weren't very proactive about dealing with or asking the kitchen about simple modifications. That said, it was late and close to the end of the night, and as someone who works in the restaurant industry myself, I understand how that can be tricky. Given the circumstances, they did a decent job, and we made sure to tip well because we appreciated their effort. Dessert was definitely the strongest part of the meal. Everything we tried was delicious from the chocolate cake which was rich, fudgy, and mouthwatering, and the cheesecake and cannoli were just as good. Was also nicely busy for the later time we were there so i recommend making a reservation. Overall, From the Boot was fine, with a few highs and misses. Not terrible, but not particularly impressive either.

Very impressed with their food…read more Chorizo egg roll with chicken in it was fiery and delish. Beef Brisket with Alabama BBQ White Sauce was exceptional on a brioche bun. I had a bite of the monster chicken tenders, which were very good, however buyer beware they are a bit on the spicy side. The tenders came with waffle fries that are always a good bar food accompaniment. I also had a bite of their house made falafel wrap. It was very good, we did not get the one that comes with a bit of heat in the form of Harissa Paste, however I would be up to possible try it another time with the Harissa addtition. They have an extensive beer list as well and I ended up getting a 16oz for $5 bucks after receiving $2 off as it was happy hour 4pm-6-pm Tuesday through Thursday. The beer was good, no complaints. They also have some very interesting looking desserts however I did not have any room left to indulge. I would definitely come back and recommend you try some of their food items.
