This is one of my absolute favorite breweries, all their beers are amazing, my favorite is their Berry one, and my boyfriend always tries a variety of their different IPAs, the service is really great. The servers are extremely nice and extremely educated on the beers, which is always a plus, and the vibe of the location is amazing whether you're sitting in the back inside or in the front area. It's always good if it's a cold day, they have heaters and if it's a sunny day, the back is covered, it's always fresh in there. Would 100% recommend this place to anyone, came here on the last-minute reservation on a Friday night for my birthday this year and they accommodated me amazingly! read more

Amazing service and great beers! The guy who helped us was so nice. I didn't get his name, but he let me sample a bunch of the beers and he was so friendly about it. He even recommended the Jawn Saison after I told him I typically stick to Hefeweizens. It was perfect for me. I also really enjoyed the Ube Bay. My husband got the tiki taka, one of their sours. He doesn't typically like sours, but he enjoyed this one because it was on the mild side. I love the convenience of this place. When you sit at your table, there's a QR code to place an order with Thunderbolt Pizza. They bring your food right to your table when it's ready; so easy! Bonus points for their compost bin. OMG ube ale! It's a limited flavor called Ube Bay that I've only seen Ambitious Ales offer twice. I missed out the first time because it was super popular, I procrastinated, and they sold out. So when I saw another post for Labor Day weekend that they'll be offering Ube Bay again, I showed up within the first hour on the first day. Though the line was short, everyone in front of us, and probably behind us, were grabbing those cans. It was that good! This local brewery, located in Bixby Knolls, has ample amounts of tables on the front patio, back patio, and a few indoors. I've been here more than a handful of times now which is quite a lot for someone who doesn't drink beer often. Their menu rotates seasonally and I usually sip from whatever Hubby gets which is often a coffee-flavored ale. They have one called Central Perk. The back outdoor area is relaxing. On most evenings that we've gone, it was fairly easy to sit at one of the picnic tables. Friends and I have brought games and food to enjoy with our ales. There's also cornhole. The tables have QR codes to order Thunderbolt Pizza from next door which we have done more than once. There have only been two occasions when we've gone and it was super crowded. One of those occasions was for UbeFest and I was impressed that 5-6 vendors were able to fit in the back area and still have places for folks to sit. I often see IG posts about other pop-us that occur here. The taplist has a rotating menu with something that always piques my curiosity. My favorite brewery in Long Beach. Everyone is always very friendly here and I love how they have two outdoor patios. They usually have a food vendor pop-up as well as the amazing Thunderbolt Pizza next door who delivers food directly to your table. They have fun collab beers from time to time - my favorite has been the Ube Bay. They also have a variety of non-alcoholic options. I recently celebrated my birthday here. Russell helped coordinate the reservation via email and was able to book us an area with three tables for about 20 guests. Shoutout to Russell for making it an easy, smooth process! Everyone had a great time. They also were able to hold my cake in their walk in fridge. Always love this place. Beer is good and cold. Nice variety. Have never had a problem getting a seat despite them always being busy. The con is that the line for beer is always super long. The beertenders vary in terms of friendliness- some of them are great and happily pour samples and others are a little grumpy and make you feel bad for wanting to sample a beer. Ambitious is wonderful! We wait for Jade to serve us since she is so friendly and helpful. This last time, she suggested a West Coast IPA that was co-brewed by Ambitious and Beachwood Brewing called Neighborhood Pals and it was wonderful. The place was very busy for a Friday night, but we found a spot and played a couple rounds of gin rummy. We ended up leaving with a 4-pack of the Neighborhood Pals and enjoyed one the next evening. Ambitious is in the Bixby Knolls area of Long Beach and has a neighborhood vibe, complete with corn hole games, lotsa kids/families, and plenty of dogs. Just next door is Thunderbolt Pizza, and they deliver (niiiiiccce). Ambitious often has a pop-up food business that usually doesn't disappoint. The beers we tried were the IPAs and the slushy drink which I believe was a lemonade, and they were all great! Service is good you walk up and order your drinks then sit anywhere you'd like. We sat outside in the front, but we later discovered theres a back patio lol. To get to the back patio go through the long hallway with the gallery wall till it ends. The only reason its a 4 and not a 5 is because you cant park in the little parking lot where its at because its for the other businesses. I have been going here for years, but I am taking them off the list. They allowed a toddler's birthday party on a Saturday afternoon. I had to step over tiny kids lying on the floor while their parents were somewhere else. Corn hold was taken over as a spot for 4-year-olds to play hide-and-seek. I am all for kids, but not without a supervisor and an establishment that has zero regard for other customers who want to go to a brewery to have beers. This place is amazing! One of the best I've been to! But honestly it's not 100% for the ales, but the atmosphere. Trigger warning: if you don't believe furry family deserves to dine with their human counterparts then woof off and meow you later (ok, that was cringe but I don't care). Beer: 9/10 There are some decent options here! And they admitted to not having what I liked as an option, but I was pleased none the less with the brilliant bar tender who gave me generous samples. She was so sweet and knowledgeable, I would come back again and again just to have her take care of me. I'm sorry I don't have her name! I do hope they add a little bit of everything one day, but honestly I am not that picky and I was able to enjoy my beer regardless. Service: 10/10 Just superb! They had the best sweet and Smokey flavor, the beef and chicken were both cooked to perfection and the toppings were fresh. I mean.. it doesn't get better than tacos and beer! A fun, chill spot we found on accident while driving down Atlantic. Ordered the Gandalf and Corgi tail and enjoyed our beers in the beer garden at the back. There was a pop up in the beer garden called Smoked and Salted BBQ where we ordered our food. You could also order food from Thunderbolt pizza by scanning the QR code for convenience. 5 stars for great beer, friendly staff members, very clean establishment and bathrooms, chill atmosphere to hang with friends, kid and dog friendly. This is my local waterhole it is one of fav spot to come and get a beer. Enjoy nice views and good people. This place is always clean and never a ruckus here. In the old space of Tuttle's Camera in Bixby Knolls, I have to say Ambitious Ales made a great space out of this place. Upon walking by, you see a patio area and once inside, it's light and bright. Large communal table and a lower one as well. You'll find this place to be dog friendly (As is most LBC places), there are dog treats by the entrance. But enough about the space, let's talk about the beer shall we? I know the founders had gotten their love for beer from OBF (Oregon Brew Fest). Honestly tho, OBF is like a frat party on steroids, with beer of course. So they took their inspiration and brewed a bunch of great beers. I ordered: Dwane the Bock Johnson (Dopplebock) Central Perk Baktuns As you can see, I like the darker variety. I believe they all have coffee in these. I didn't think central perk was all that, a little thin for a coffee beer. But I do love the Dopplebock (which I tasted the coffee here) and of course the Baktuns was my favorite. The Baktuns was an imperial stout with coffee and chili. It's weird, I didn't really get the coffee note on the Baktuns either but it definitely tasted like an imperial stout. I do think the pours here were a tad expensive for $12 on tasters only because the Baktuns and the Central Perk tasted under-carbed. Not really any food served here, but the pizza place had a server that was running around inside the brewery taking orders. We do love playing games such as battleship here to enjoy the time here. They have a projector TV with the game on. LOVE it. I parked on the street (Atlantic) on a Sunday with no problems. We were only here for 30 minutes and it was free. Definitely make this place as part of your Long Beach beer crawl. read more

A nice mid sized brewery with a relaxed feel to the environment. The outdoor patio in the front of the brewery is the best part of Ambition Ales aside from the beer. They had about 14 beers on tap when I visited, the 3 I picked for my flight were all solid with Nice Guy Eddie being my favorite. Inside they have board games to play, and a projector on the ceiling to show movies or sports on one of the walls inside the brewery. I like the location since it's near a few other local breweries as well as a few restaurants that you can order food or bring it inside. read more

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Chill, friendly neighborhood tasting room with great beers. I've come here twice now, once with just the hubby and another time with a group of about 20 people and it was a great experience both times! Both times were weeknights so that may have been responsible for the nice non-crowded vibes, but will have to come back on a weekend sometime to gauge. All the staff I've encountered have been very friendly and helpful; for the large gathering they recommended that I email them a request to reserve some tables in their back patio and that worked out brilliantly (I love their back patio). But how's the beer, you ask? I've tried their Gandalf the Crisp (pilsner), Central Perk (a surprising coffee blonde), and a West Coast IPA (forget the name), and they were all great! They don't have a ton of variety, but what they do have--if you like the generally lighter styles--is great. They also have a relationship with Thunderbolt Pizza next door, where you can order stuff to be delivered directly to your table--very convenient. I'm a fan! read more

Came to Ambitious Ales recently because Smoked and Salted BBQ was doing a pop-up here. We came by in the early evening around 5:30pm, and parking was a little difficult in this area. They have a very small lot adjacent to them, but is shared with a number of other businesses. Once we to the brewery, it was nice to see so many outdoor seating options, especially as the weather warms up! Very pet friendly too! They have a front patio as well as a back area with plenty of seating. The inside has a smaller set-up, for those that wanted to be in there. They were also projecting the live feed from Coachella--how fun! The brewtenders were all very kind, and helped my partner sample different drinks until he found the two he wanted to try. He ended up with the mango and the berry, and I ended up getting a 6oz of the mango one as well. It was super refreshing! In case you come in when there isn't a pop-up, they also partner with a pizza place. We saw a few folks order pizza and it smelled fantastic! All in all, was a great first time at Ambitious Ales. A great local spot, and not too bad if you're visiting. If I was in the area looking for a fun but casual thing to do, I'd definitely come by again. read more
