We sampled the mixed grill and the ubiquitous Chicken Tikki Marsala. We also had an order of garlic naan. Everything was really really good. The service was fantastic. As we left the host who may have been the owner was incredibly gracious and kind to my father and I as we left - thanking us for visiting his restaurant and asking us how everything was... inviting us to come back soon. I'm very happy to have Amber in the neighborhood. After many years this part of Middleton is beginning to feel like a real neighborhood again with proper local amenities. Check out the ample menu and great service at Amber. I think you'll be happy with your experience.

One of the best Indian cuisine's around the campus, while it is a bit far from campus, it is definitely worth it. They have weekend buffets and it's all you can eat !! The quality of food is unbeatable and the price as well!! The servers are really friendly.

This is the best Indian restaurant I tried in Madison. I took out dinner from here. Garlic naan was good as always. Kashmiri naan is a good variety to try with fruits and sweet things stuffed in it. Shahi navarathna korma and lasooni gobi are excellent vegetarian items to try. Hyderabadi chicken biryani was and lamb chettinadu were good non veg items I tried. Papadam was good as well.

It appears the sit down bar area wasn't a very big draw to the drinking crowd, as it's no longer a thing. The liquor is still available and right where it was, but the bar seating is not. A last minute decision to get myself something that I've not had enough of lately, namely chicken and rice. I've been on a diligently followed seafood and vegetable diet for around 5-6weeks with only one previous deviation when pizza was demanding my attention and consumption. Chicken breasts are all too often overcooked and tonight I was amazed at the consistency and texture of the white meat in my vindaloo dish. I can't recall the last time I've been served such a well prepared chicken breast! The HOT spiciness I was assured, was precisely as promised. The last time I received what I was told would be a above the typical level of fire, I was sorely disappointed when I took a few bites and it never registered to the receptors in my mouth or brain that any sensation of pain was ever going to arrive. Tonight the capsaicin was delivered and my body and brain are again in a state of heightened bliss. The garlic naan was a little of a (only superficially) let down. It's short confinement in the aluminum foil made it a bit too 'damp'. Damp isn't the correct word, but it's the word I'm stuck on. The bread was very tasty and tender, but the steamy conditions inherent when sealed inside a non porous package essentially make this an issue with no real alternative. One of the very types of reasons I will NEVER rely on grub hub or it's kind. While I maintain that ethic for nearly any food item that I'd have such a place deliverer to me, I suppose Chinese food would be the sole exception. Cold Chinese food is still a must in my opinion. But that's not really relevant to tonight. Amber is still perhaps my favorite restaurant in this immediate area.

AWFUL EXPERIENCE!! AMBER DESERVES ZERO STARS We went to Amber Cuisine yesterday and had a really bad experience. The picture included here is off the server who misbehaved with us. We were party of seven and had made reservations ahead of tim for 8 pm dinner. We got there at 7:54 pm. Few things to note we had reservation so they new a big group was coming and there was only three other tables occupied then. The person in the picture took our order a good 20-25 minutes after we were seated. We ordered appetizer and also main course. Ordered a plain dosa for my kid, after that was done we asked for another one. The server rudely tells me in Hindi 'you can't keep ordering, you have to order all at once' I said my child is hungry and we would like to order another one, he said " this is not how you order' really rudely. When we he called out his rude behavior he started misbehaving and walked away. We asked the other server to pack our food and we paid and left. While we we were waiting for our food to get packed we could hear him talking to somebody really loud in his language about the incident. We informed him that we would report his behavior and he said go do it The other servers were apologetic for his behavior and said we would report him. But there was no restaurant manager or host who came and spoke to us about the incident. This kind of service is not acceptable DON'T GO TO AMBER!

The items were preordered by the host - sesame chicken, naan, biriyani, plain rice, saag paneer and butter chicken. I had planned on skipping the meal because I have celiac disease and was worried about transmission of substances I couldn't eat. However I asked to speak to one of the men who'd set it up. He told me to avoid the naan and sesame chicken but that everything else was gluten free. His confidence assured me and so I was able to try the meal. The food could have used a little more spice but was delicious. There were huge chunks of paneer which I appreciated. I am so glad that the staff was knowledgeable about their menu. I have now got the confidence to visit the restaurant and try out the other gf options.

It's been far too many years since my previous visit to this place…read more But last night I ended that. A sudden wave of needing a spicy curry or vindaloo overcame my emotions. Next thing I knew I was in the parking lot and searching for Swagat. Because it was a Monday night it had only 3-4 tables of customers, so my order was ready before I was even thinking about it taking too long. The service was very friendly and personable as well. Suggestions were made while I was trying to decide what the last Indian dish I last had, and I'm relieved he suggested what he did. Vindaloo. Spicy beef and make it your top spice level. He started to caution me, but I was very intent about my capsaicin intake. Dall was me secondary items, yellow, and only at the middle point for heat. Plain naan. Very simple and direct. Upon returning home the scent was enormously delicious and inviting. The delicate long grain rice was perfectly cooked and such a subtle item to be actually a star on the dish, rather than a simple starch to take up space. Potatoes were large and delicate while firm. Beef, velvety soft and still not losing its texture. The yellow lentils were a bit different than I'd expected. I last enjoyed them ages ago and my recall was that they still held some of their form. These were cooked further down, not in an unpleasant or overly aggressive manner, just different than I was expecting. Delicious. Beautifully colorful, saffron(?) I'm unsure. Naan. Another item that deserves a starring role in a meal. This was far better than any of the recent times at either of the two nearby Indian restaurants that I've been spending more time than I now think I plan to in the coming months and years. Tonight I'm enjoying the food from last nights dinner. Should've taken some pics. But take out meals aren't artfully prepared. So they don't really matter anyway.

I was shocked to see a low rating for what is a fabulous local small business serving incredibly delicious Indian/Nepali food. Our party of 9 were the only patrons at 6pm on a Tuesday evening and we were very well taken care of by the owners of the establishment. Most of the party are vegetarians, and thoroughly enjoyed the Tofu Buff with rice. The Baingan Bhartha and Paneer Masala were both extremely flavorful and so tasty! The other half of the party eats meat, and we had the Chicken Bhartha, the Chicken Mango (soooooo delicious), Chicken Tikka Masala, and Shrimp Korma. Everything was well seasoned, and I was so impressed to have such authentic food out in Madison (Los Angeles has no shortage of good Indian food, and this place easily ranks up there with them.) Love the way their Nepali roots work their way into the flavors of the dishes. We also had some mango lassi (delicious) and of course, garlic and aloo naan. No meal is complete without it!!! I loved that they bring out continuous portions of rice for free. THAT is something you never see in LA. I wish I got pictures, but I was too busy eating. Give this place a chance, it's beyond great.

NEW FAVORITE RESTAURANT!…read more Went here for graduation / birthday... this used to be Hu-Hut. Gobi is 10x BETTER! The options are amazing, they even have NY strip steak! It is very clean and the staff are very friendly and amazing service! For your birthday they play this song on the speakers and they all came out singing with an amazing homemade slice of cake and candle. It's also VERY affordable compared to other places similar. Hands down the best dining experience I have had in a long time! $15 for lunch & $20 for dinner, I will be coming back often!

Food 4.5/5 Service 4/5…read moreAmbiance 4/5 A relatively new AYCE hot pot AND Mongolian grill, Gobi does not disappoint. Their variety of options in both their hot pot and grill lines is amazing, and I definitely feel like I can keep coming back for more. Their seafood has a lot of variety, I think the most in the Madison area for hot pot. And as a kid who grew up eating Mongolian grills at Chinese buffets, I had to try their grill, also loaded with so many good options, including scallops - my favorite. I think some of the meat quality could be better, but maybe that's a result of having some of it being frozen - usually done to help slice meats easier. I also feel slightly disappointed when, when soup runs low, (both here and elsewhere in Madison) the soup base is refilled with just a generic base, especially when I order a spicy broth. It kind of reduces the flavor a bit with subsequent rounds. There's something for everyone at Gobi and then more - even the pickiest of eaters can find something they want here. Overall an amazing place to go in Madison, and I'd definitely go back.
