I was very pleased. Then came the pie. Wow! I had never had pie with breakfast before but when at Norske Nook enjoying a slice is practically a requirement. I had the lemon meringue and it was phenomenal. The meringue was so high and perfectly made, it was difficult to eat. Absolutely wonderful. I had been to the original location in Osseo, Wisconsin years ago, and I was pleased to see that this one existed in DeForest. The pies never disappoint. A delightful stop! Heirloom replied very quickly and was happy to accommodate my request, even on short notice! We did all chocolate cake with vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry frosting. A perfect variety pack. I picked up the cupcakes and wow! They were decorated beautifully and they tasted amazing! Everyone enjoyed the cupcakes. Initially, our waitress brought us only a few menus despite the size of our group. She stopped by a few times to take orders but seemed scattered and disorganized. At one point, she said she needed to run some food out but would return to take the rest of our orders. She then disappeared for over 30 minutes. I waited so long that I never even got the chance to place my food or drink order, while others in our party were able to order. My aunt ordered several pizzas and nachos for the group. After waiting an hour, only one pizza and the nachos arrived. After waiting over two hours, my aunt finally asked for a refund for the remaining food items that had never arrived. The party ended up running much later than planned, until around 10 p.m., and people were still left hungry because we never received all of our food. The waitress rarely checked on us, and we repeatedly had to go to the bar ourselves to ask for drinks or place additional orders. Both the waitress and bartender were rude and showed little to no concern about the excessive delays. The bartender even seemed irritated that we kept coming up to ask for drinks, despite the fact that we could not get the service we needed at our table. There was no meaningful apology or genuine effort to make things right. The bartender was also inconsistent and unhelpful when it came to something as basic as water. One of my cousins went up to ask for a glass of water and was told no because they supposedly did not give out water there. However, less than five minutes earlier, the same bartender had given another girl a glass of water. It was frustrating to see such inconsistent treatment, especially when we were already struggling to get basic service throughout the party. Then, at around 10 p.m., the staff became very rude about closing and repeatedly rushed us to leave, rather than politely informing us that it was time to wrap up even though they were the ones who delayed our party when we were supposed to be done by 9PM because of our food being so delayed. Unfortunately, the poor customer service extended beyond the restaurant area. I took my young cousin to play the interactive floor game where the floor lights up beneath your feet. After waiting a long time for someone to assist us, I pressed the button to get the game started. While we waited for someone to come over, I let her dance on the floor. When an attendant finally arrived, they were rude and told us we should have waited at the entrance for someone. There were no signs explaining this process, and even after I apologized, the interaction remained unpleasant. A simple, polite explanation would have been more than sufficient. Overall, this experience was frustrating and took away from what should have been a fun birthday celebration. When families spend money on a party package, food, and game cards, they should be able to expect reasonably timely service, organized staff, and basic courtesy. Instead, we experienced excessive wait times, poor communication, missing food, pressure to leave, and consistently rude customer service. I would not recommend hosting a birthday party here based on our experience. We spent a significant portion of the celebration chasing down staff, waiting for food, and trying to get basic service instead of enjoying time with our family. The lack of professionalism and courtesy made an already disappointing experience even worse. For the amount of money spent, the service was completely unacceptable.
