Went to the kingdom as we've heard non stop it's a must go. Went inside and ordered, service was friendly with a great sense of humor. We ordered and then waited about 15 minutes, it's a frigid day so we opted to sit inside and wait. I was extremely impressed by the fufu and chicken. Everything was on point and flavorful. The environment was nice but the lingering grease/ oil smell that attached to our clothes after sitting there for a while was unbearable and we wound up having to run home and change before moving on with our day. I will order pick up in the future!

It does not look life fufu

I order for fufu but I got something completely different from fufu which is tasteless

Great new location!! We are very excited that the menu has the African selections on it all the time. Also I have to say this is one of the best value places in town. All the combos come with fries and a drink. Super nice staff as well. One thing of note would be that the menu is only posted behind the counter, and it has a lot of options, so it can be difficult to read. Maybe if there would be some printed off and sitting out it would help. We got a staple in the fried catfish. It was great as always, although slightly greasier than the last time we had it. We also got some chicken gizzards as an appetizer. Not my favorite taste of food, but worth a try once. We also got the chicken shawarma which was huge. The chicken was also flavored very nicely and the sauce on top was a great complement. The fish domada was nice and flavorful but the rice was a little clumped. The fish benachin had a nice light spiciness to it that is almost a delayed flavor. The dish was eaten surprisingly quickly for how large it was. Our server also brought out some hot sauce for us and note for everyone, when they say its spicy, they are telling the truth!! Really good hot sauce, but not one you can smother on.

the best place I have eaten in Madison . the Fufu was so good and oxtail fell apart so nicely it was delicious. I didn't get the name of the man who was working there but he was so nice and so quick with our food!! I will definitely be returning to this restaurant and i'm really surprised there wasn't more people in there.

The jerk chicken was so good, I reinstalled Yelp just to give it 5 stars. Spicy and full of flavor!

These are just my leftovers from my meal. . . It was enough to make myself two more lunches, so it was an extremely good value.

The owner is from the West African nation of The Gambia, and the menu features West African and American dishes, along with gyros and other items you might expect to find at a Greek restaurant. I ordered the lamb kabobs for pick up, and it was excellent. I suppose I could have given this place only four stars because prefer the meat less well-done side, or maybe came up with another quibble, but for what it is. . . I'd say this place is as good as it gets. The grilled lamb was nicely seasoned with bits of onion and tomato, and served on a bed of potato fries. The portion was huge, so my order for a single dinner was the basis for three complete meals when I added salads made from ingredients I had on hand to serve along with the entree. I reheated the fries in a cast-iron skillet, which made them hot and crisp the second (and third!) day. I'll be back, and I highly recommend you try this hidden gem for yourself. Bottom line: An incredible value on multi-cultural comfort food.

Greasy gyro picked apart and then thrown away.. it was sitting in a pool of grease..

Totally disappointed. Cold food and flat sodas.. hire more employees. Hard to be understanding when they know the soda machine isn't working and the still serve you flat soda.

The Kingdom Restaurant has a developing reputation, many people have tried it and have informed me that their food is good. I decided I wanted to try it. I went to their delivery page and ordered a Philly CheeseSteak with Fries and a Pepsi. They delivered on time as they promised, the food looked tasty (view picture) but it was lacking flavor and what I could taste was burnt...The fries were unflavored as well and soggy. The drink was supposed to be a Pepsi(as was 1 of the 3 options given), I got a Faygo Cola. I was completely underwhelmed with the food i paid for. I would like to give them 1 more chance. I will try them in-store to get the full experience.

I've ordered the same thing both times because I loved it so much- the Three Grain & Tempeh Bowl. It's so fresh and delicious, filling without making you feel over-full and gross. She had the Mushroom & Gouda Omelette and also very much enjoyed. The seating space is small so you can definitely run into a wait during busy times, but service moves fast! You'll order at the counter and be handed a number to take to your table, where the food will be delivered. During busy times I've seen them try to help coordinate seating arrangements but it is otherwise largely a seat yourself sort of place. Next on my list are the lemon ricotta pancakes which are reportedly famous and a turmeric cookie I spotted in the bakery section :)

But here we were in downtown in a beautiful day with a gorgeous lake-side path and finding ourselves enjoying it. Stopped here for breakfast, shocked in our research how many vegetarian options were available for my wife. Here you could get tofu eggs and tempeh added to your dishes. I got their chilaquiles and gluten free lemon poppyseed pancakes (they had GF toast but their only savory option was this or a coconut thing). The entree was delicious, not too spicy unless you bite into too many jalapeños, and the shredded chicken was great. Could have used a second egg but I'm a big boy so maybe it's just me. I was also surprised by how much I liked the pancakes. It was a gamble as I don't like things too lemony and while you could definitely taste the lemon, it was still very good. And the pancakes, for being gluten free, were fluffy and soft and great. Had a regular coffee and while it was strong, it was just coffee. It gets very busy at peak meal times to plan accordingly. We'll probably be back before this trip is done.

Another person in our party had steak and eggs and he said it was delicious. The prices for all of the items we ordered were very reasonable. The wait staff did not speak English very well and she had a hard time answering the questions we had about the menu. Not a big deal but she scowled a lot trying to understand us. You can tell that storage space is at a premium, with boxes stashed in overhead areas or equipment in the bathrooms. The staff there were very pleasant and helpful. Ended up getting a Chai Latte (extra foam) in a mug. It didn't take long to make, and they delivered it out to the table. It was an excellent drink -- hot, flavorful, extra foam, and not too sweet. A joy to drink. The atmosphere is a bit manic. With the tight seating, you can feel a bit claustrophobic, or on the other hand, like you are at a concert and getting energy from the crowd. For me, it's a place to grab a drink and find a quiet space elsewhere. So not likely a place that I would return to.

We had reservations, so we were seated right away which was a plus. Also, I will say I don't think any of the issues we had were because of our waitress. She was super friendly and quick enough to take our orders on a day when there restaurant seemed full enough, but manageable. We got our drink orders in and our food at the same time to speed up the process for getting little kids food, and the waitress even took note of that. We also ordered an appetizer to help during the wait. It took a while for the drinks to come out, but they were all rather tasty. I think my apple cider mocktail was the best and refreshing since it was getting hot in the restaurant with the sun beating in. Our food however took forever and the kids meals did not come out any earlier than everyone else. One person in our group also initially didn't get his meal, which the waitress apologized and said there was a mixup in the kitchen. That's fine, it happens, but then the staff running meals tried to bring him the wrong order 3 times. The rest of us were all finished eating by the time he finally got his food. Overall, the food was fine. I got the eggs benedict which was a little underdone on the eggs for me as the whites were too runny for me. The kids chicken nuggets were pretty tasty with a flaky breading. I heard decent reviews of the breakfast burger, but the thing that was the best to us was the breakfast sandwich. It was quite messy, but the messiness of the sauce was worth it. We also got an appetizer of the cinnamon roll. I feel like it's a little mislabeled though, as it was more like a morning bun with some frosting/glaze over the top. Tasted pretty good and helped keep kids entertained for a while. Overall, the food was fine, but the experience wasn't great. With the multiple mixups in orders and getting a little green house effect going with the sun shining in, there wsnt a great feeling when leaving. Again, I don't think it was our waitresses fault, so not sure what was going on in the kitchen.
