Friendly employees. Small store; limited selection. Empty shelves. Their unique check-out system is NOT RFID like I had expected. It is CAMERA based. It watches you take things off the shelf (or put them back), and keeps tabs on everything you do that way. If you thought Alexa at home was intrusive because it is always listening and recording everything you say, this tops that: It takes your PICTURE and videos you to track your activity in the store. Amazon now has a face with the account -- and all your characteristics -- race, clothing, height and weight, what you linger near -- those unhealthy snacks, beer, etc. So, checkout: No itemized receipt. Clerk said they'd email one. FOUR HOURS later, we get an email inviting us to click a link to "view your itemized receipt." Nope. Takes you to the general "Your Orders" Amazon website with no further instruction. So I thought maybe the top-link labeled, "Local Store Orders" might work. Nope. Says I haven't ordered anything in 2022. Aha moment -- the link took me to our companion account, why, I can't fathom. Changing accounts, I could see pictographs of things purchased. Still no itemized list. Then I got an annoying popup asking how my experience was. Grrrr. Undeterred (why I'm not sure), I tried to start over. I saw a top-link to "Visit your new fresh store." Ok, I should have known better by now. Back to "My Orders." Three clicks later, I displayed the list of what the store things I bought. One item, "Aplenty, Pretzel Bread Baking Mix, 28 oz," should have been "Aplenty, Brookie Baking Mix." I don't even LIKE pretzels. No idea, of course, if there was a price difference. How could I know? There are no "price stickers." What else did they get wrong? All in all, I'm pretty sure I'm not going back. read more

I had the WORST experience in this store. I was told that I didn't need to check out because CAMERAS pick EVERYTHING UP. Then when I wanted to use a different credit card to check out than the one I used to GET INTO THE STORE, I was told that could NOT use a different card. Then the checkout clerk had the AUDACITY to RUN ME OUT THE STORE, repeating: "It's like the sign says, JUST GO! JUST GO!" Well yes sir to THAT! Overall, this is one of the most excellent stores I have ever seen. First, it is a very thorough and organized place (definitely clean). The place is constantly maintained to be clean and I cannot imagine the logistics behind it. The staff do greet and are friendly when one enters the store. They even offer to help if customers do not know how it functions! Additionally, the atmosphere is very nice and modern, which makes it very nice to shop here. Finally, the place is perfectly accessible to anyone and is friendly to those who are disabled (shopping carts, entering, etc.) tl;dr: This is a very great store to shop in as it is perfectly clean (and modern), has great quality (products too), atmosphere, and accessibility! Amazon already had amazing logistics and this takes it to another level. I would shop here regularly if you had a prime membership. read more

I went into the store and it is nice and clean. I saw the products but not able to find anything I want. Prices were about 20-30% over the norm. I ordered online products and did not get what I ordered. $7 handling fee and $5 tip. They did not have what I ordered. Total rip off. I will not come back and I like Walmart better. read more

Very friendly store employees and good specials for the grand opening. Selection and prices are typical of any large chain grocery store. Took off 2 stars because the Amazon Go technology overcharged me $18 for items I didn't purchase and getting the refund took a chat with Amazon customer service followed by 2 phone calls before I finally got an associate at Amazon Fresh to help process the refund. If you plan to use Amazon Go for checkout, be careful what you touch! My advice is don't pick up an item until you're sure you want to keep it. read more

Consistently good experience with the people here Friendly and professional managers who seem to take customer service seriously. Nice people in the prepared foods area. High quality deli selection and pretty good pizza. Easy and efficient checkout with reasonable accuracy. Today a friendly gentlemen offered to made me a sandwich when I couldn't find the one I was looking for. When he got busy and it took a while, two ladies apologized and followed up to make sure it got done. Appreciated the help. Also saw a cute girl whose number I wanted, but at the last moment realized she was an employee so thought twice about asking. Shame, that. Maybe next time. Only real drawback as other have noted is the lack of selection/stock. They've also closed the kitchen too early on more than one occasion. Overall a good start for this place. read more

Pretty cool how you can scan your in-store code to get in and out. The space is very cold and sterile. It felt weird getting groceries in there. I didn't get my receipt the next day and I realized they "scanned" one item wrong. What a fail. I can't shop here again. The vibes are weird. read more

3 strikes you're out The first time I went in I bought bib lettuce whose leaves were tough. The second time I bought sushi and it wasn't fresh. The third time I went at the latter end of the lunch hour for hot food but all that was there were empty warming pans heating up residue. When I asked about restocking for lunch, no one knew who to talk to. When I found someone, she told me they would restock in an hour and walked away. In comparing to other grocery stores, I notice the vegetables aren't particularly fresh or tasty and some of the vegetable shelves were low on stock or empty. The prices of many of the products they carry are even with or pricier than other stores and it is hard to find help. I'm underwhelmed. read more

Decent basic grocery store that has some options, but not the variety of a larger store and lacking many of the organic and vegan items from Whole Foods. It would not be a first stop and cannot replace a traditional grocery store for my household, but is a good option for some popular items. Remember to bring bags or pay for each paper bag used at checkout. The store is very clean on a weekday visit. It was very confusing for a first visit and we almost left until we saw the traditional shopping gate. Fruit looked great. Some of the veggies did not. Prices were all over the place. Some things are double the normal price others just 10 to 25 percent more than Walmart or Food Lion. Family size box of Cinnamon Crunch Cheerios was over eight dollars. Had a Lidl store feel with higher prices until you get to the butcher and hot buffet areas. We did not do serious shopping. Just grabbed snacks, frozen foods, hot chicken corn chowder soup, fresh sushi, and Vietnamese banh sandwich. Spent over a hundred dollars because we forgot to bring our coupon. Used store cashier so we knew exactly how much we spent. Cashier was very friendly. They even bagged our things with a designated bagger. We did not tip the bagger like you would at a commissary. The three star rating was because the prices were so high but the store was not the level of a Wegmans or Whole Foods. The ambiance is weird because of all the cameras hanging in the air like Christmas Lights. I did like the fact that I could get my Asian snacks and ready made foods there without having to go to Hmart or other international foods stores. We would go back since it is next to Skyzone. I decided to check out Amazon Fresh because I heard about it and I think the cashierless technology is very cool. The store did not impress me. It's like a cross between a Whole Foods and a Giant. The prices were extremely variable. I thought some items were a great deal, while others were an absolute ripoff. Design wise, the store is very dark and dystopian looking. The store itself is on the smaller side and the aisles feel very small. There also isn't a large selection of products. They do carry the Whole Foods/Amazon 365 store brand and then some other Amazon store brands but for many items they just have name brand. I also wasn't impressed with the selection of personal care/medicine products. This part of the store is tiny and jammed into a corner. I am not sure how the beer and wine section works. There was an attendant - I presume to check IDs, but he was literally sleeping. The produce quality was good, and I didn't buy any, but the meat looked to be very high quality as well. They also have a nice prepared food section. I liked that instead of weighing by pound you can fill up a small container with as much as you want for $6. They also have pizza and sandwiches. I probably won't return, unless I am in the area and looking to grab a quick bite for lunch. read more

Was not what I expected AT ALL. First I had trouble with the app to get in. Afterwards, when I got my receipt 30 minutes later, I noticed that I was charged for items I looked at but put back, like a steak. So I had to call, ask for a refund and while I got it without any problem, it is still an inconvenience to have to go thru that. Maybe I will try at since later done in the future, but for now, I will go to Lidl, Giant, and Safeway and know what I got, is what I got charged for. read more

There was only one other shopper in the store while I shopped--most of the business appears to be staff fulfilling delivery orders. The technology capturing when items are removed from shelves is interesting, but flawed. Two hours after I left the store, I received an electronic receipt in the Amazon app--several items were double charged in error. It took multiple calls to Amazon to get correction. Overall, there's no compelling reason to shop there. I'm a bit mystified why they opened this in a community with so many better shopping options. I love the name of the store. The customer service is great. The selection of food was not impressive.

Items are 10-30% higher than other supermarkets. Only worthwhile if you use the 50% coupons sent in promotional flyers. At the Fairfax, VA location I was overcharged for 3 items when using the carts that automate your bill. Since your bill arrives by email hours later or the next day, there is no way to verify if the number of items or the amounts paid for each item are correctly billed. When I asked the checkout staff for a receipt to verify the bill, they said "not available". When I contacted customer service to ask to see the bill on the Amazon Fresh APP, they said "not available". So when the receipt arrived by email 5 hours after I left the store, I saw I was overcharged $10. The bill was only $41, so that means the carts overcharged by 25%! If Amazon Fresh does this as a way to increase profits beware to check your receipt OR do not use the carts since there is no way to check what they are billing your credit card. It took two chat sessions with customer service to get the $10 overcharges refunded. The first customer service agent on the chat, Semkelo, said they would do it but only refunded $6. The second customer service agent this morning said they will do it, but will see if they actually do. CHECK YOUR BILL AT THE FAIRFAX, VA LOCATION WHEN USING THE AUTOMATED CARTS AS IT OVERCHARGED ME 25%! At the Chevy Chase, DC location, the system is much better as you can see the item cost, and total calculated on the cart screen in real-time as you shop. This allows you to correct any errors as they arise. But, it is still impossible to see what Amazon Fresh actually bills your credit card until the receipt arrives by email hours later. So you have to remember what the bill total was to know if their charge is correct. Amazon fresh should make a physical or e-bill available to the customer as they leave the store for full transparency. read more

Besides from having subpar produce, my teenage daughter was harassed while in the store during her lunch break from her nearby job. She was followed through the aisles by a worker, and it was obvious. Then, when she paid , the machine made the payment sound, and THE GATE OPENED, yet a woman came over and asked her if she paid for her food. When she said yes, would you like to see the receipt, she was asked if she had anything else. Literally only had her salad, she had no purse or book bags or baggy concealing clothes. First off their shopping carts at this location don't have the automated screen that show the updated totals as you add items like they do at the other stores. Second it seems they are way overstaffed. Just a bunch of people hanging out or eating. The staff are the ones buying all the sandwiches in the fresh prepared food section. By 11am the staff have taken most of them with minimal available for actual customers. If they aren't hanging out or eating, they're super annoyed when you ask a question or need help. How dare customers take up their time with such things. The prices here are on the higher end compared to other store chains. Once these coupons are done, i'll just stick to Lidl, Aldi, Wegmans, and Costco. read more

I have no idea how this place stays in business. For such a new building, they have constant breakdowns of their cooling equipment. The fresh meat and seafood cases were empty for a few weeks. Today they were out of several things in their ad that took effect yesterday. They are keeping the berries in the produce cooler instead of the department, as the department's cooler is broken. There is not hot bar, nor a salad bar - malfunctioning equipment. I went to customer service asked why the stuff in the flyer was gone in one day. She said that "people buy all of it in the morning." I retorted "Not everyone is available to shop in the morning. She gave me a blank stare. This is my 4th time shopping here and this is a consistent problem. Store manager, Jay, was incredibly helpful. For instance, the 32-oz pack of kiwi fruit was on sale for $4.99. Gone. Single kiwis were .49. I asked if I could get 2 lbs of single kiwis for $4.99. Produce manager said no. Store manager overruled and said yes. This is not particularly close to my house, so I am done. The prices vary from great deals to "what are they thinking?? so expensive." I wanted boneless chicken thighs. Guy told me that they had 10 lbs. and one person bought it all up. Why is that allowed? Figure it out, Jeff. read more
