Grab your $10 off a $40 purchase when you bring your return. Prices can be expensive so you have to shop the sales and deals. I was in the area and wanted to check out Amazon Fresh mainly out of curiosity. I did the cashierless method and scanned all my items with the tech in the shopping cart. It took some getting used to but once we got the hang of it; it was actually really convenient. You can see all your items on a digital screen on the cart. But than it got weird. We couldn't figure out how to scan a produce item and I put the item in the cart without scanning and it made an alarm sound. A worker came seemingly out of nowhere to help within seconds. Then I realized the many cameras all around the store. Very dystopian. I also noticed that the shelves were empty and not much inventory. The hot bar was laughable. There were more workers than there were customers. I was helped by a worker that explained that I just push the shopping cart in the designated lane and it "checks out" my cart. I was emailed with minutes of the receipt. Awesome tech makes it worth it to check out but as far as buying groceries on the daily; I'll stick with Whole Foods and Trader Joe's. read more

Shopping here is like walking the hallways in the tv show Severance. It is completely lifeless and non-descript and there are no people to be found. I think the key is to go look at their salad bar: the stuff looks like it has been out for a week and all of the lettuce is wilted. What about the hot bar: the pizza looks as if it were made the day before. Do yourself a favor and walk across the parking lot to get a slice at Andy's, which is the best pizza in the area. I am shocked that it is still open except for the fact that Amazon seems to have no problem operating at a loss. read more

Coming here the first time is a little confusing but the staff helps you get ready to shop. The store isn't huge but it has most everything you need at the grocery store at decent prices. The main attraction here not having to wait in the checkout line as they will use the cameras to notice what you grabbed and send you an invoice later, charged to the credit you they scanned when you entered the store. It's half convenient and half dystopian creepy but the one flaw is you don't get a receipt upon exit so no idea what happens if they charge you for items you didn't actually purchase. I might be wrong but I think the hassle of dealing with those mistakes would more than make up for the shopping convenience. I'd stop here again if I was nearby and just needed a couple items but wouldn't make a special trip. read more

Last time, they canceled my pickup order as I was on my way to pickup after I had already received the order confirmation to pickup! Today I got a notification saying my order is ready to pickup, and two minutes later they completed my pickup as I was still home! read more

6/6/22 Wow, this place is nice, but private eyes are watching you. Watching your every move. I am not kidding about being watched. There are cameras everywhere. The saying don't do anything that you don't want your boss's boss to see. Walking into the store, I see now you have two options, but the guard standing inside gave off the impression you need to have an Amazon Account to get it. Well gentlemen and ladies, you don't. You may take the little side gate called Traditional Shopping. The smiling was very clear with those who do use their Amazon Accound and those who do not. Mellow greetings were not handed out except for the guard I met ealier. The employees I saw looked down right miserable. So I gotta wonder if I stepped into the 2022's version of Les Miserables. The employees did not seem to want to I talk to the customers Infact, they seemed to move away from us customers. If you want a beer, you need to show your driver's license so they can scan it. Now I am officially in the Amazon system. Speaking of system, you can use your credit cards, your Amazon Card or your Palm to pay for your food. If you have questions, ask Alexa. I am craving hotdogs so this is what I acquired. Oh, and Ball Park Hotdog Rolls. Prices are reasonable, but the ambience in here says go away. Interesting technology. The whole place has that sterile tech company vibe. Personally I dig it but it's not everyone's preferred ambiance. The scanners were cool albeit a bit too invasive for comfort. We already voluntarily give up so much data that I expected to head in this direction. It'll be interesting to see how Amazon evolves this technology. We did the Just Walk Out experience. It's still buggy. Scanners know when you pick something up but doesn't always catch if you put it back on the shelf, which makes a grocery store a great testing facility. It also seems to get confused if you mix different products in the same bag. As a grocery store, it's ok. Produce is charged by unit rather than pound so I had to rethink pricing. They carry 365 and mainstream products giving you some choices. The cheese section had interesting variety. The bakery section was sad sad sad. Hot bar was bare during this visit but expecting a decent WH selection in the future. It took over 24 hours before we received our receipt. Most people reported getting their receipts within an hour or so. There were some mistakes which were easily fixed by calling Amazon. Overall, I'm fascinated by the concept. I look forward to seeing where this technology takes us. read more

This was my first time in an Amazon Fresh store, so I was interested to see what it looks like. I like the idea of being able to walk into the store and just walk right out, but in the end, I walked through the Traditional Shopping gate and just waited in line to check out. So you don't need the Amazon app, or an Amazon account to shop at this store, but there is a slight penalty for traditional shopping since there are only 2 cash registers set up (and when I was there, only one cashier was open). The store design was intuitive, but I found the offerings a bit haphazard. For example, I could only find organic zucchini (not regular zucchini), but there were at least 20 coffee creamers available. They offered puff pastry sheets in the frozen section but they were almost sold out of shredded cheese. All of the eggs seemed to be "certified humane." Some of the produce seemed to be languishing (e.g., the zucchini were wrinkly/getting old). It was also interesting to see how many people in the store were not shopping for themselves but were shopping for Amazon orders. Overall, it's definitely a different store, and there is definitely an audience for it, but I'm not sure it's for everyone. I'm guessing the main audience is not people who are passionate about cooking their own elaborate meals, but rather is targeting DINKs in their late 20s who enjoy a wide assortment of creamer options. read more

This store never has anyone in it. Probably due to the extravagant prices for everyday goods that are no different than your average grocery store. Also, be mindful if Amazon fresh gets a price incorrect on your order and you pay with your Amazon account, you don't get a receipt for 4 hours and then have to go all the way back in for the correct price you were supposed to receive. Just got back from my first visit to this Amazon Fresh location. I received a digital coupon for $20 dollars off if I spent more than $50, this was too good of a deal to pass up. Amazon Fresh is not a huge store, selection on most items is limited. Store has a combination of name brand items and Whole Foods, 365 items. Fresh fruit, vegetable, meat and poultry items are equally split between organic and non-organic. The prices are fair and fresh foods are very fresh. Most employees art friendly, do not be afraid of asking for help with using Amazon QR code for self pay. If you have an Amazon account, you can shop, bag as you go and check out just by having your bag scanned. System was accurate even counted number of loose bananas I purchased. Go in with the understanding that choices on some it3ms may be limited; but for me this was more than offset by the prices, especially sale prices and speed / ease o& checkout. read more

Cool tech allowing you to walk right out if you are a prime member, but.... Prices are strangely variable, mayochup ~$4, Siracamayo $5.29. A larger size of these items at target are $2.49. Feels more like a warehouse intended for grocery delivery shoppers, than a store meant for customers. Good selection on some items and completely lacking in variety on others. I thought the concept was interesting so I decided to check it out, I felt like I was in a sci-fi the whole time. There are literally 2 employees for every shopper, and it's just disturbing how they stand around and intensely watch while you shop. I get they're trying for good customer service but having like 5 people chorus "Welcome in!" is off putting. I really don't like being checked on every few minutes either. The produce is absolutely awful, the worst in the area. Everything looks and tastes about 10 days old, 'Fresh' is hardly fitting. Is food quality not the most important part of a grocery store? Prices are all over the place; some great deals and some higher than Whole Foods. It's so sterile as well, reminds me of a hospital, and the CAMERAS. Don't get me started on the cameras. My rating of this store (Fairfax, VA) drops to three stars from my former four stars. In the last few months, they have gotten rid of many of their former bargains and prepared foods, particularly in the Deli and the former seafood section (which doesn't even exist anymore). They no longer price the hot foods and salad bar by the container-size any more (which was a bargain), but have gone to the more ubiquitous by-the-pound pricing, which makes everything much more expensive. I would have downgraded the review to two stars, except that they DID add a traditional self-service checkout section, something they lacked before and something I have wanted to see for some time, so I'll give them an extra star for that. But I'm REALLY annoyed by the loss of the container-size pricing at the hot foods bar....they may lose some of my buisness because of that. read more

Really just went to check out the technology in this store and buy a few things and check out the prices. Technology-wise, I wanted to collect my groceries and just walkout, which is what I did. Though since I didn't get a receipt until the next day, I had no idea what my bill would be. I bought an estimated $40 worth of groceries but because I didn't have a cart and just a couple of grocery bags and needed to use the restroom midway through my shopping, the store lost track of me and lost track of what I had purchased. So the only things that were charged were the items that I purchased after my trip to the restroom. I think that is why many stores have their restrooms at the front of the store and have big signs indicating merchandise is not to be brought in, but there were no signs and I thought leaving my bags in front of the restroom door might have been taken. I would recommend putting in some type of technology to alleviate this problem. I'm a test engineer by trade and I really came to see if your technology worked properly. Of the receipt I did receive, I found a product that I picked up and looked at but never made it in my bag and I was still charged. Though through my Amazon account, I was able to get a refund for that product never purchased. I like the store, I like the layout. Some of the prices were comparable with other stores in the area, but many of the prices were quite a bit more and that isn't ideal. Though I don't live particularly close to this store, I will stop by in the future when I visit the area to check things out and see if there have been any other improvements from a technology standpoint. The concept is great, but there are definitely bugs that have to be worked out and fixed. One recommendation, have carts in the same vicinity as the entrance. I wanted a shopping cart to put my grocery bags in so I didn't have to carry the heavy items around the store without one. But other than the carts I saw outside, I didn't see a cart corral inside the store whether self-entrance or traditional shopping and that was a problem. I shouldn't have had to go walking around the store for a cart, it just should have been there. Overall, I'll check it out again in the future. I liked the concept, but just feel there are a number of technology bugs that need to be worked out before this could become mainstream. Recommend at least taking a look at this unique concept of a grocery store. read more

Amazon Fresh on Fairfax Blvd, Fairfax VA The Wife and I decided to try out the Amazon Fresh Store for the first time out of curiosity yesterday. This is how it went. First of all the greeters were very helpful in getting us into the store but there were no smart shopping carts available at that location. The store had limited selections of common items compared to a regular grocery store. Many of the shelves were sparsely stocked. We were unable to get half and half, for instance. The lay-out of the store seems to be primarily for the benefit of fulfillment staff who are gathering orders for on-line orderers. We were able to ask a question of a couple of them, but they are not here for you. We wanted to get some sliced ham from the deli. There were 3 employees behind the counter doing various food prep tasks. After being ignored for about five minutes I got the attention of one of them by shouting (politely) and we got our ham, but there isn't an emphasis on customer service here. My biggest complaint is, that when we went through the Just Walk Out checkout procedure, we didn't receive an itemized receipt nor were we given the total we would be charged for our order. We were just told to wait for an email. By the time we got home there was an email acknowledging our visit and promising us that we would receive a receipt once they had processed it, Three hours later, still no receipt, so I called the Amazon Fresh customer support line. Three calls, two dropped lines and an hour later I was told that the AF customer support only dealt with on-line orders and that I should call the store. I did so and got a Verizon voice message that the customer was unavailable. Decided to take a cold shower, Finally, about 5 1/2 hours after we checked out, we got an email from AF giving the total for our order, but the link to the itemized receipt didn't work so we couldn't tell if we were charged properly. Eventually, I had to log on to the Amazon.com website the next morning and navigate thru a couple of levels to find my receipt. The bottom line is this: The in-store shopping experience was poor to fair. There doesn't seem to be a noticeable price advantage over normal supermarkets and the selection of goods is substandard. Customer service is not good and we felt a little bit in the way of the fulfillment staff. The Just Walk Out system is not ready for prime time and I can't understand how Amazon, who can deliver a package within hours, can't give me a look at my receipt for half a day. Finally, my experience with AF customer support, and Amazon's customer support in this case, was a laughable nightmare, a real black-eye for Amazon in general. But that's a different post... I don't think we'll be going back. read more

The prices are the same as other supermarkets. The lack of checkout counters is not that much of a novelty. A competing chain allows you to scan your items as you shop. Amazon Fresh sent me an email as soon as I left the building that said an invoice was being prepared. It was six hours before the bill arrived. It appeared correct but would have preferred to have the bill at the end of my shopping. read more

This placed sucked. I placed an pick up order and nothing was filled because they didn't have any of the items- conflict. Go to the Franconia Store. A lot of the shelves were bare and their store layout is isn't convenient. I won't be back- to this location right now. Maybe when it's actually fluctuating store front. Took a little getting used to. And now I like it. Their location is convenient and after practicing the check out procedure a few times I'm a fan. Being able to scan my palm, grab a few things, and walk out is amazing. I get the sense they are still figuring out how this will work. Which is fine... good in fact. For instance, I noticed they backed off their meat and seafood counter, opting instead for all pre-packaged. The prepared foods are really good and balance out the predominantly pre-packaged shopping experience. Others have mentioned and I'll echo one complaint which is the wait time to receive a receipt. I want that immediately so I can make sure prices are correct. I'll keep coming back as long as their quality remains good and their service is efficient. read more

The placement for all the products are aesthetically pleasing and organized, however I still have the hardest time finding the products I need. This store is only enjoyable when I'm running in to grab a quick item or two to splurge for lunch. Which works great because I can grab what I want and exit in less than 5 minutes. I've tried to legit grocery shop in this store and always feel unsuccessful. On top of walking around the store numerous times to find a specific item, there's always items I need on the list that aren't being sold in this store... so I end up having to drive somewhere else afterward. Another thing I've noticed is the Amazon workers are the most attentive to customers and engaged when first walking in the store (and when saying bye on the way out) -- but they're disengaged with customers throughout the time im shopping. Every time I'm having trouble looking for what I need, I find it hard to get someone's attention for help. I understand the nature of the amazon store is to shop more independently and not rely so much on the workers, but for some reason I end up requiring assistance. I'm noticing an ongoing and similar complaint on these reviews too. I thought it was just me until I looked this place up on Yelp and am just glad to know it's not just me. read more

went today to go to the hot food bar and they used to price it by the container but apparently as of today they changed it to by the pound. That would be OK if they had a sign that said they were doing that or let people know before they got up to the register. In the past when I had gone to the hot food bar and took it to the register the check out associate would say these are priced by the container, so just wanted to make sure you got all you wanted. I guess they wanted you to get used to putting a lot in the container so when they changed it to buy the pound they could charge you a lot more money. Little sneaky if you ask me. read more

Interesting concept but it needs a lot of work. Went with my husband and we each had separate orders so we could take advantage of the new store opening coupons (20 off $40 and 10 off $20). Upon checkout you get no receipt so we left the store not knowing how much we spent, if the coupons worked, or if we were charged correctly. About two hours later my receipt shows up in the Amazon app and has 3 things on it that I picked up to look at but didn't take, and is missing one item that I needed to make sure I could use my coupon. So if I try to get it corrected I will lose my discount. My husbands receipt has one incorrect item and we found out the coupon didn't work even though he spent enough. He got the incorrect item removed but now his total is less than it needs to be for the coupon discount. And this is supposed to be more convenient than a regular grocery store? Friendly employees. Small store; limited selection. Empty shelves. Their unique check-out system is NOT RFID like I had expected. It is CAMERA based. It watches you take things off the shelf (or put them back), and keeps tabs on everything you do that way. If you thought Alexa at home was intrusive because it is always listening and recording everything you say, this tops that: It takes your PICTURE and videos you to track your activity in the store. Amazon now has a face with the account -- and all your characteristics -- race, clothing, height and weight, what you linger near -- those unhealthy snacks, beer, etc. So, checkout: No itemized receipt. Clerk said they'd email one. FOUR HOURS later, we get an email inviting us to click a link to "view your itemized receipt." Nope. Takes you to the general "Your Orders" Amazon website with no further instruction. So I thought maybe the top-link labeled, "Local Store Orders" might work. Nope. Says I haven't ordered anything in 2022. Aha moment -- the link took me to our companion account, why, I can't fathom. Changing accounts, I could see pictographs of things purchased. Still no itemized list. Then I got an annoying popup asking how my experience was. Grrrr. Undeterred (why I'm not sure), I tried to start over. I saw a top-link to "Visit your new fresh store." Ok, I should have known better by now. Back to "My Orders." Three clicks later, I displayed the list of what the store things I bought. One item, "Aplenty, Pretzel Bread Baking Mix, 28 oz," should have been "Aplenty, Brookie Baking Mix." I don't even LIKE pretzels. No idea, of course, if there was a price difference. How could I know? There are no "price stickers." What else did they get wrong? All in all, I'm pretty sure I'm not going back. read more

I had the WORST experience in this store. I was told that I didn't need to check out because CAMERAS pick EVERYTHING UP. Then when I wanted to use a different credit card to check out than the one I used to GET INTO THE STORE, I was told that could NOT use a different card. Then the checkout clerk had the AUDACITY to RUN ME OUT THE STORE, repeating: "It's like the sign says, JUST GO! JUST GO!" Well yes sir to THAT!
