When you come in expecting to get just jelly filled donuts and come back out with an array of unique donuts. List of donuts: Gentilly (top left), Boudin with Pepper Jelly (top right), Strawberry Cream Cheese (bottom left), and Cream Nut (bottom right). I also got some boudin egg rolls with an assortment of kolaches! Overall, all I can is Y-U-M-M-Y! #LambChopOnTheGeaux #donuts #gonzaleslouisiana #amazingglazedeaunuts https://m.facebook.com/amazingglazedeauxnuts/

Not sure if I came on a bad day or what. We stopped in to give them a try as I always see their social media posts. The glazed donuts were pretty bad. They were fried too hard and dry and they weren't hot but lukewarm. Pretty upsetting as I was looking forward to them. The LSU sprinkled donut and the maple bacon donut my husband had were probably the best out of the box. I'm not a big fan of places that can't get it right with fresh donuts. I probably won't be back but the speciality donuts are probably your best bet.

Chantilly cream donut and Boudin donut.

The absolute best donuts ever! Very friendly staff and great service. We had the chantilly cream donut, the apple pie donut and a boudin donut. The Chantilly cream donut was to die for! They also make king cakes in many flavors!

Greatest creole stuffed bread and only I've ever had so my review may be slighted since it's the only place I've seen and ate it.

I was so impressed by this little place. We saw the sign for coffee house or McDonald's and we took…read morea chance on coffee house and we were not disappointed. The bathrooms are clean even if one of the doors doesn't latch well. We tried the chocolate Bavarian cream stuffed beignets and the regular beignets and the cafe au lait. The beignets are the best I had anywhere. They were a nice size and they were light and fluffy and covered in powdered sugar. The cafe au lait was just ok, I think we liked it better the cafe au lait mixed half and half with the French roast coffee for a stronger coffee flavor. The service was great. Very friendly and helpful and we don't wait too long to take our food with us. You can sit and eat in also but we were on our way through. We loved how coffee house is tucked into a little antique shop Cajun village. It has Cajun country music playing and there are stuffed gators around and lot of interesting antiques. I wish it were closer to more things to do, but if you're on the road from Nola to Baton Rouge it is a definite must! I really hope to go back with more time and try more interesting things.

So we are visiting this area for the weekend and got a recommendation to eat here for breakfast…read more We get there about 9:30 or so and know it will probably be busy. We were not wrong, the line was to the door. The slogans on the walls and everything in the restaurant was neat and well organized. I read the two comments on the chalk board and my expectation for high quality food increased significantly. Sadly, that would be it. Two registers looked available, but only one was working. The guy taking orders seemed new and friendly. Unfortunately, his conversation tended to move away from taking orders and trying to make small talk with the customers. This made waiting in line borderline intolerable, especially with the child behind me jumping up and down on the wall leading to the register (thank goodness one of the parents finally made her stop). Once at the register, it seemed that the guy was new (or newer) and struggled with the orders a little bit. After repeating my order a few times, he got it. We went to the "Jam Bar" for coffee and water. The sweetener was almost out, there was no cream and one urn was out (the lady was prepping the empty urn for new coffee). I commented about the cream, but was completely ignored by the employee. Another employee came up and I asked her about the cream. She pointed at the 4-5 single serve creamers there and said that was it. I asked about the metal pitcher and she said, "Oh yeah, that has some too." I told her it was empty. She looked confused and then picked it up and left. So, I just served old coffee in my cup that I had to go find since no one offered it to me ($3.50/cup, I would have assumed it would be pristine, but not so much and no one seemed concerned). Now to the meal: I ordered the Vicious Benny and Old School Breakfast. The Vicious Benny was mediocre at best. The ham and hollandaise were good, but the biscuit was grainy and the over easy egg was runny and a little slimy. And there wasn't a whole lot of taste to the meal. The OS Breakfast was much better, but still not a lot of flavor. The bacon was pretty good and flavorful. The eggs and potatoes were cooked well, just no seasoning. Overall, such a sad experience. Maybe my expectations were too high based on what I saw and the crowd when I went into the restaurant.

Amazing Tour and Museum Experience…read more Houmas Plantation House is an amazing place to visit. We started our day early and had breakfast first. There's a simple American/New Orleans-style breakfast buffet with eggs, sausage, and grits, available from 8-10 a.m. The plantation opens at 9 a.m., and the first house tour starts at 9:30 a.m. The house tour lasts about an hour. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. This was my second time taking the tour, and although the guides were different, they shared the same history in their own unique storytelling styles. Both were engaging and easy to follow. Don't forget to tip the tour guides--they do a great job. After the tour, we walked through the gardens in the morning. It's about a 45-minute stroll at a relaxed pace--walk, rest, and enjoy the scenery. Very peaceful. Later, we went to the Carriage House Restaurant, which has amazing food. The bar is also great--try the Houmas signature drinks, they're delicious. You can enjoy your drink inside or outside, then walk around more or relax. If one person wants to do everything--breakfast, museum and house tour, lunch at the Carriage House, and buy a few souvenirs--expect to spend around $150 or so. Overall, it was a great, peaceful experience, and I highly recommend it.

The guided tour does a strong job of bringing the property's past to life. Set among towering oak trees and Spanish moss, the plantation itself is visually stunning, and the home's preserved interiors give an authentic glimpse into 18th- and 19th-century Louisiana life. Rainy Day our knowledgeable and engaging tour guide, was mixing well-documented history with the plantation's well-known ghost stories in a way that feels balanced rather than over-the-top. That said, expectations matter. If you're hoping for a purely historical deep dive, some of the supernatural elements may feel a bit dramatized. On the flip side, if you're looking for a full-on haunted experience, it's more subtle than theatrical. Overall, The Myrtles Plantation tour is a worthwhile stop for anyone traveling through Louisiana. It offers a memorable mix of culture, history, and atmosphere--especially for those who appreciate a good story along with their sightseeing.

We ate dinner here our first night staying at the Hotel Toussaint. I ordered the stuffed soft shell crab with corn maque choux. I loved this dish - crispy soft shelled crab, FULLY stuffed, and they did not skimp on the lump crab meat! I even enjoyed the corn maque choux, which is not usually my favorite, but this one still had the sweetness of the corn and all the flavors, yet wasn't overly spicy. Just perfect! My friend ordered the chicken with mushrooms and horseradish potatoes and absolutely loved every bit of it! We returned for breakfast the next morning (complimentary continental with our stay at the Hotel Toussaint), and we decided to order just one of our complimentary breakfasts (croissant, apple strudel/tart, strawberry jam, butter, and fresh fruit) and then order a Southern Breakfast (bacon, eggs, cheese grits, and a biscuit). We then split both plates so we could try everything! All of the food was delicious, as to be expected, but the cheese grits were the star of the show! They were the right texture, were seasoned well, and were topped with melted cheese. Yum! We visited the St Francisville Inn again later in the day to go to the spa for pedicures. The spa is upstairs and is serene and relaxing. Our pedicures were well done. They also offer facials and massages, but we didn't schedule those during this trip. Finally, we visited again in the afternoon to have drinks from the bar. We enjoyed them on the front porch. Everything about this place is well thought-out to the last detail. I will be visiting again in the future for sure!
