I had them out a week ago. They replaced a broken camera. They charged me another service fee to fix issues. The tech did not fix the problems. They got worse after he left. The issues not fixed and now lost zones. The 3rd area he briefly looked at is not working either. The techs Eric and Cesar were able to help in the past. Just not with my current issues. For the $655 I already paid. They ended up sending out a different Tech today. Felipe took the time and did a thorough testing of my system, resolving my issues. He was caring and professional. Used their service/product with no issue for a couple of years after our house got burglarized. Easy to use, customer service was great and responsive. However due to Covid they end up tacking on a truck fee of $90 whenever they do a service call. The system that I had was different from others so when I asked for them to come out to replace a sensor and a smoke detector, it took them 3 hours to realize that they were missing the right sensor so i had to reschedule another service call (and you guessed it) for another $90. Got an invoice for the 3 hour labor on top of the truck fee. Customer service was able to waive the first truck fee. When I spoke to the owner he was dismissive of his customer's concerns and went on to condescendingly say how his microwave was broken and it couldn't be fixed but he still had to pay the repairman (how is this relevant?). Now mind you, I don't mind paying the fee, but shouldn't HQ know what system I have/sensor to bring? It's not about how much the fee is but me having to take another day off to reschedule because a lack of preparedness on their part. After paying for the invoice, I decide to part ways with AMTEC due to their exorbitant fees and we are going with another alarm system. One where you can install yourself where you don't need to have anyone dispatched. read more

I just had my alarm installed the other day and my experience was 5 stars from the initial call. I spoke with Karen over the phone who answered my questions and put me in touch with Jeff the owner, who is very informative and has some great recommendations. He is a salesman, but is not pushy. He just explains things how they are, and gives comparisons of how Am-Tec beats out its competitors (ADT, Vivint, etc). The pricing is very competitive with other companies, and you are not locked in to any annual contract. Great customer service from the start. On the day of the install the techs arrived right on time. I believe there are normally 2 techs per home install, but in my case there were 3, which worked out great. The 3 techs Makaz, Stephen, and Josh worked well as a team to hardwire my alarm system. Each tech did something productive and helped each other out as needed to get the job done in a timely manner. The techs were very helpful, and answered all of my MANY questions. I felt comfortable with these guys being in my house during the install. They were easy-going, hard working, and me up and running within a few hours. My favorite part of the service so far has been the doorbell camera. I am loving the iPhone app to see the live video feed, and to Arm/Disarm my alarm from the phone. I would (and will) recommend this company to anyone looking for a home alarm system from a small business doing big things! read more

I recently had an alarm system installed by Am-Tec Security at my home. The installers arrived ontime and were both courteious and sympathetic to the fact that you are letting strangers into your home. They made me feel comfortable and explained every step of the process and choices that were mine to make as to how the system would be used and function. I was amazed at the quickness the team worked together so efficiently they were done and cleaned up including vacuming everything and were done by early afternoon. This included doing all doors and windows and my garage which is great to know is safe as well. The system included a motion detector for interior protection and a smoke detector that calls the fire department automatically even if I am not home. The system works flawlessly, not only have I had no problems, I can turn the system on and off from both my smartphone or the keypad from inside my home that reads out to notify me of any doors or windows are open and lights up even if there is a power outage. The system doesn't use phone lines to communicate so I am safe even if the power and phone goes out. Even better when I am using the system I get notifications on my smartphone when the system is turned on and or off and it notify's me if any of the windows or doors are bypassed. This works on both my wife's Iphone and my Samsung smartphone. I can now leave knowing that my home is safe and secure and that is something you cannot put a price on. If the system is triggered it will call the police, fire and paramedics if needed, and I am instantly nofied on my smartphone instantly and then notified again by a phone call from their central station. I have worked and lived in Southern California for all of my life and seen alot of security systems both at other homes of friends and at every place of business where I have worked. There is no company that has the hands on feel and knowhow that I received from Am-Tec Security, I really feel I received the best protection and didn't have to pay through the nose to get a fully customized security system. Of course it wasn't free but nothing is that has real value. They came highly reccomended by friends and co-workers and I can see why. I'm not just saying this because they are the ones who installed my security system, I truly beleive that I have the best protection and the peace of mind that comes with both the security system and the company that installed and engineered it. I got my alarm system installed on 8/4 and am very happy about their service. From the first call I made to ask information through out the whole installation process, I felt that I can always get help from Am-Tec without any trouble. The sales person John Hoover patiently answered all my questions and scheduled the installation appointment quickly. The both installation people Stephen and Makaz were also very helpful. I got one false alarm by wrongly used my control panel, it was my mistake. John quickly arranged me to talk with a tech person in office, he explained to me what happened and told me how to avoid the problem in the future. If I remember right, his name is Eric. After reading the positive reviews, I reached out to Am-Tec Security inquiring about repairs to my alarm system. Phillip responded quickly and asked me a series of questions. After answering all of their questions, including sending photos of my panel as requested, they stopped responding. After two days of no responses, I sent them an email asking when the job could be scheduled. I received no reply. Perhaps they're too busy. I am disappointed that they lack the courtesy of a reply, especially after I provided all of their requested information. I found another alarm company to do the work. read more

We have been loyal customers of Am-Tec Security for 30 years after we were burglarized and in need of a security system. At that time, Jeff was the owner and main installer, and the company was small. Throughout the years, we have felt very safe with this system, and it has performed flawlessly. We have occasionally set it off accidentally, and the monitoring system/station works well also. Fast forward to today....we were given the option to upgrade our system at no cost- a new control panel and keypads. Our 2 installers arrived before our appt. time (yay!!), unheard of these days, it seems. They were extremely professional and courteous. Nowadays, there is so much more technology, and Am-Tec has kept up to date with it all. We discussed the option of not using the land line anymore and having a radio installed to communicate with the monitoring station, and thereby being able to use a cell phone app to alarm and disarm the system. They were not pushy at all to sell the radio ($140ish), and just let us decide. And of course we opted to go that route (no more land line!!!). They walked us through the phone app, showed us how to alarm/disarm, how to view history, etc. And the nice thing is that anyone can download the app, and with our username and password, can do the same. Makes it a great option for house sitters!! Way to go, Am-Tec!! If you are considering a security system, take a hard look at Am-Tec. You will never be disappointed!! read more

They were both friendly and knowledgeable about the products and the set up, and owning the system over leasing like some of the bigger companies came out to be much cheaper on our end up front and in the long run. if I could give a zero I would...we have had nothing but issues with their sensors...some times they work as they were installed...some times for no apparent reason they won't work and you will need to move them...they say their batteries last for four years but we are constantly getting messages to change the batteries but the worst is when you establish with them that you have a bad sensor they send an agent to replace it...you are not told you will be charged for this service...then you get an invoice for ...$95 service charge plus $95 labor plus $45 for the new sensor $235 total for a bad sensor that they installed...when questioned your told it's industry standard which is not true...the due date on the invoice is the same date as the service ...who operates that way? read more

Big shout out to Am-Tec Security! My mom was referred to Am-Tec Security yet we had never heard of them before. I looked them up on Yelp.com and found them to be a solid company with great reviews. My mom was tired of what she was paying her alarm company of more than 30yrs. and was looking to upgrade her security system with cameras, door locks and a doorbell. Needless to say I bombarded Patrick and Makaz with plenty of questions which they graciously answered in detail. I was impressed with their system, it's capability and of course, Patrick's and Makaz's knowledge. Phillip was also instrumental in my mother's purchase of Am-Tec security systems as he gave us plenty of options to work with. My mom got all the bells and whistles at a reasonable price and did away with contracts and high monthly payments.
