Absolutely terrible. I came in to get my BMW key duplicated and the guy took 2 HOURS of my time just to make a key that DID NOT WORK and he STILL CHARGED ME $50. He told me "yeah but you took our time and now you have an extra key." What a load of crap. You took my time as well and didn't produce a functioning key and took my money along with it. read more

I had an interior door get locked that I didn't have a key to in my office. I was not in a rush. Called these guys and they quoted me $140 to open the lock, which seemed high, but what do I know about locks. They told me they were on their way (10 minute drive from their office to my place) and showed up an hour later. Texted them my address but still got a call clarifying the number on my building. Got in, fiddled with the lock for about 15 minutes and got it opened. So, poor communication, high price, but got the job done, so what's there to complain about? read more

Really helpful people here. Made by keys really quickly and customer friendly. Great people to talk too and give solution

Very good expertise although on the high side for price. Tech arrived and did very good installation of smart lock but for over $200, supposedly the 'realtors special ' which I didn't believe, BTW. read more

I have driven by the San Ramon office located on Crow Canyon for many years. Recently had the key fob on my 2012 Honda Civic die. These newer car keys are great for theft prevention but quite another story when they go out on you. Anyways, took a chance on a walk-in visit today on my lunch break from work. Pressed for time, the person who greeted me says "have a seat won't be long". There was additional time involved as I asked them to create another spare key (involves coding not just cutting a new key these days). Anyhoo. Got out of there with 2 fully functional key fobs and back to work in less than an hour. Reasonable price. Fully recommend. read more

The ignition cylinder on my 2001 Toyota was having problems turning. The car could not be started easily. The dealer quote was high, but he let slip that they were only going to call a locksmith. So instead of paying for a locksmith with markup, I called AMPM. They fixed the ignition cylinder. The same key works in all locks. And they reprogrammed my key fobs, all for less than half of what the Toyota dealer estimated. read more

I can't say enough about this company. They recently spent quite a bit of time with a difficult replacement key for my Toyota MR2 Spyder (apparently 2000 was the year Toyota implemented a different key / computer system in the MR2). They also saved me a lot of money by coming to my house vs. me towing it to a dealer. There were complications with the computer system and they definitely went the extra mile to get the job done. The owner and staff are very friendly. This is the only locksmith I will use in this area (hopefully I never have to replace my original key again though!) Highly recommended. read more

Dropped an ignition cylinder off with old and new keys at the store to be rekeyed and was told it would take 45 mins so I went and killed some time I can back and was told the key was too badly worn out and is understandable so I happened to have the extra key that was perfect I gave it the guy then he said come back tomorrow to pick it up so I come back the next day and was told it didn't get done and I could pick it up Monday at 10 thankfully I called before going down to the store on Monday because they still haven't got to it ...the point is it takes 20 mins to rekey and old cylinder it's not from a modern vehicle the problem is they don't commit to what they say I guess I should have read more of the reviews I suggest finding someone else next time . read more

Whenever something goes wrong with my car, my lack of car knowledge makes me fear I'll be duped into paying for services I don't need. When I couldn't start my car (tumblers going bad in key mechanism, I think), the Triple A driver recommended AMPM Locksmith. The AMPM people treated me with respect, worked quickly and did a quality job. I was (and am) so pleased with their work. read more

I needed new car keys cut and programmed. Cheedah provides me with excellent service and 50% less than what the dealer would have charged me. He was fast, attentive and explained how the car key reprogramming works. I will be back to shop with him again. read more

These guys are absolutely awesome. I came in with a door lock that was sticking. I spoke with a gentleman from Ireland. I asked if he could fix it. He took it to the back, stamped out a new key. He then told me he wasn't able to repair it, but he did tell me how to make it work when it was stuck. My only other option was to buy a new deadbolt lock. He never charged me for the key or his time. The best customer service ever. They greet you and try to help you as soon as you walk in. Also I noticed they have chip keys for your car that look like the keys that came with your car. Ford, Mercedes, etc. I highly recommend this place f you need any kind of keys or lock service. So glad I came in here today. read more

Good folks in there. Just needed a couple of high-security 'do not duplicate' keys and a couple standard Schlage keys. Quick, fair, and most importantly-the keys fit and worked like the originals. My new go-to lock guys. read more

The worst. I took them in a broken (but otherwise working) car key and asked them to just put it in a new shell which I have had done before. They spent a hour trying to figure out how to do it that concluded with them handing me a non working key and telling me "you need to take it to a mechanic and you need to pay for the key we made". I explained that what I wanted was an actual working key that would start the car. Their response was "we cut the key so it's not our problem". Um no... Avoid at all cost. read more

Thanks for attaching my keys together, but it was a complicated one where they need to put chips in the key, so they need to reset the car. Thanks for the help by manager and owner read more

Been here before knew better, but thought I would give it a try out of convenience. Last year bought a key and programming from them for a 2003 vw Gti took four different trips to their location to get the task completed. Then today I stopped in to get some more keys cut for a second 2003 vw Gti. I showed the girl at the counter the two new keys that I needed cut she asked if I needed programmed I said no I will program myself. She then quoted 45.00. Keys were cut then time to pay the bill she requested 90.00 that double the price I chuckled and paid the bill. I advise to stay clear of this place. Tried it twice even though I knew better. I won't be back. Enjoy the extra 45 buck consider it a severance package. read more

I have had two great experiences with AMPM! My last one I will share because it was over the top incredible service on short notice. In short... the changing of my suddenly broken front door lock. My future son in law was trying to get in when the problem began and he had to be at a wedding in a few hours. I was in North Carolina! Cut through a very short amount of time and our guy from AMPM is there and changing out a very old complete locking system. Wow! All paid for by phone and handled with skill and speed. A++ the best service in the San Ramon Valley! read more

Forewarning, I would not purchase a Lexus car key from this guy. I purchased two keys, and he told me they were just like Lexus' keys, but way cheaper. Well, they were cheaper, but my first one broke after three months. I went to talk to the owner about it and he said that there was nothing he could do about it. I had one key left, so offered to make me a spare key (without the computer chip in it), BUT it won't start the car, it can only open the doors. Why would I want a key that can't start my car?? He charged me another $45 dollars, and wouldn't give me my money back. So, now I am down to one key, and that key, for some reason, has given me problems with opening my rear doors. read more

So glad I found them on yelp. Quick friendly service. Saved both time and money by not going to the dealer.

What a find! A locksmith that still operates a shop and is open on a Saturdays. I received friendly and helpful service that addressed my issue of rekeying and replacing my locks. I received a very fair price and extremely fast service. This is the place I will go for all of my future needs. read more

The owner made a hard to find key no one else had a blank for, and was willing to try to duplicate a different key he did not have a blank for, after his first attempt failed. We decided on a better solution. The service here is friendly and first class. read more

Very nice gentleman helped me. I wanted to get decorative keys, but he explained my key was longer than the usual key and therefore he didn't have any decorative keys that would work for me. Instead he gave me 1 free key (I bought 10) and didn't charge tax. Very good customer service. I highly recommend this locksmith. read more

The key was stuck in the lock, so I went to this locksmith and they were so kind to fix it for free. The lock was for my kids school and I'm so grateful Am/Pm locksmith was kind to fix it for free and be supportive of our local school and kids. Thank you! read more

We called yesterday because we need our business office door open as the keys were locked inside. We were quoted 160 firmly to unlock the door. In 30 minutes a gentleman showed up and began to work at it. After about 30 minutes it became apparent he did not have the tools needed to open the door. He informed us of the inability of being able to open it due to his lack of tools, and he was calling his manager to come with his miriad of tools to open the door. 40 minutes go by and his manager shows up, spends about 10-15 minutes and opens the door successfully. When it comes time to pay we are informed that they needed specific tools and because of the two-man job, we were now responsible for a 300 dollar bill. After explaining that failure to prepare was preparing to fail and that we were not responsible for the lack of tools the initial associate had they still charged us 220 because another person had to come out. Honestly, it's horrible due to the fact that if we had gotten the manager, in the beginning, we may not have had to pay the 220 and had stuck to the original 160 that was firmly quoted. If people are going to continue doing business with you I would make sure that it is understood that the estimate could go up due to these conditions mentioned here, otherwise I would refrain from saying "It will be 160 to open your door. We will be there in 20-30 minutes." This isn't a way to do business, and as a business owner, I found this completely manipulative and underhanded. read more

Had to get news key fobs for my Chrysler 300. Called am pm locksmith and they were very helpful and gave a great price on 2 key fobs. Went to the San Ramon location took about 25 min. Their customer service is really professional. Their prices are fairly set for the standard, and a great environment.

I have never been to the Shop in San Ramon. I have not met anyone that works there. I had a bog problem though and they fixed it without blinking an eye. I own a 2001 VW Passat and I bought it without a remote key fob. If anyone doesn't know how much the dealer charges for one of these it is $115 for the folding key, $125 for the transmitter and $64 to program it. That is $304 just for a remote key! I was not going to pay that so I went on Ebay and purchased the key and transmitter separately. What I did not know was they come in two different shapes in 2001 and I purchased the wrong transmitter. HERE IS THE GOOD PART. I contacted AMPM Locksmith through one of their ads on EBAY. I explained to them what I had done wrong and they sent me a simple email; "No problem, send us the key and transmitter and we will send you what you need." Well I was a bit skeptical because I had about $100 in the transmitter and key, but I sent it to them last Monday hoping for the best. I received the correct key and transmitter yesterday (Monday, one week after sending them the wrong parts). I programmed it 5 minutes after receiving it and it works PERFECT! The only thing I am still missing is a bill for their service. What a nice company to deal with. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU Ben Reher. read more

Came by today to get a blank key I got from a car remote website cut and programmed. Took a bit longer than expected since the key I bought from the website wasn't programming. *tip:don't buy refurbished key remotes* all in all, I paid less than half what the dealer quoted me for a replacement car remote for my 2016 corolla. I appreciate the amount of time they took to get the key to work perfectly, I highly recommend this place if you need replacement remotes! read more

Called them at 8AM on a Sunday morning for a home lockout. They answered the phone and had a locksmith at my home within 30 minutes. We found out that we have a KwikSet lock, which required the key plug to be drilled out. Locksmith had us in the home after 5 minutes. He offered to help with the new lock and re-key at his office if necessary. Great experience. If I ever get locked out of a KwikSet in the future, I know to just drill it out myself. read more

I lost a key to a rooftop Yakima car rack. Two of the locks were locked, two were open, and I was able to extract the "core" tumbler, and had a Yakima key, but it wouldn't turn the lock. They took the tumbler and key, and modified it so it would open the other cores, in less than 10 minutes. I could have ordered a spare from Yakima\Amazon, but they got it done immediately, and for about the same price. read more
