(1 Star - honestly would give 0 if I could)…read more Extremely disappointing experience at L'Oeufrier - 1970 Boulevard Le Corbusier, Laval, QC H7S 2K1. When we arrived, the restaurant was not busy at all, yet we waited 10-15 minutes to be seated despite plenty of available tables. There was no proper greeting. Instead of being guided to a table, a waitress simply pointed from across the room and said, "Sit here." Not welcoming or professional at all. Once seated, we weren't offered water, coffee, or even acknowledged for another 20 minutes. We had to ask multiple times just to receive basic drinks -- coffee, water, and lemonade -- and even then, they were brought very slowly. It genuinely felt like we were inconveniencing the staff by being there. After finally placing our order, we waited about 30 minutes for our food. During that time, employees were sitting right next to us eating their own meals. I completely understand that staff members need breaks -- that's normal and reasonable. However, eating in the dining area directly beside paying customers, while talking loudly, using inappropriate language, and openly counting and flashing tip money, is extremely unprofessional. They made eye contact with us several times while we were clearly still waiting for service. It felt dismissive and uncomfortable. If staff are taking breaks or discussing tips and personal matters, that should be done in the back, not beside customers who are waiting to be served. The staff never checked on us once to ask if everything was okay. The food itself was mediocre at best. On top of everything, we were charged for a regular coffee, which many breakfast restaurants include with a meal. Overall, the service was slow, disorganized, and highly unprofessional. We did not leave a tip because the service simply did not warrant one. I would not recommend this location and will not be returning.

While the restaurant is highly celebrated and located within a Michelin-recognized hotel building, it does not hold a Michelin star of its own. But it is extremely classy. We decided to do lunch instead of dinner and it was a little more our speed, but if very, very attentive waitstaff is not your thing and $200 for lunch I'd skip this spot. We went because it had reviews for amazing beef Wellington and my husband hadn't had any in decades. And we were on vacation so let's go! The food was beautifully plated and service was impeccable inside of an amazingly decorated dining room that looked like a library in a mansion. The meals themselves weren't obscenely expensive but add a glass a wine, bread (it was not included) and coffee and it put us close to $200. But it was a great experience and I had never had beef Wellington - it was melt in your mouth good. Might go again next time we come up from CT.

But before even checking in, we had to walk through Bar George ~ and instantly knew we wanted to eat there. We were lucky enough to grab a last-minute reservation, and Julien took a good care of us throughout the evening. His recommendation of the Beef Wellington was spot on (it's already one of our favorite dishes), but this was hands down the best we've ever had. I ordered the lobster risotto, which was excellent with just the right amount of spice. My son had the 10 oz striploin steak with homemade fries (chips), and it was absolutely delicious. I also loved the Canadian touch of coarse salt on the steak, plus the option to choose between Béarnaise or peppercorn sauce. Julien also mentioned their pastry chef placed second in a NY competition, and the desserts absolutely lived up to that reputation. We tried the pineapple and coconut pavlova and the "lick me hazelnut" ~ both beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. We also ordered iced coffee and a latte, and noticed something interesting: this was the second place where we found Canadian coffee to be smooth and mild ~ such a nice change from the often bitter, over-roasted American coffee. Yes, dinner was a bit steep ($300+), but it was worth every penny. Between the rich history, stunning design, outstanding service, and unique cuisine, I would highly recommend Bar George. I would absolutely love to come back!!

Salt, Pepper and... apples? Let's just go with it!…read more Was mildly skeptical when walking in as this is in a pretty unassuming little shopping plaza, but boy was I in for a pleasant surprise! First things first... if you order the orange juice, they will offer you freshly squeezed. Naturally I said yes... because I love it when people squeeze things, freshly... but I have come to realize that in the genre of orange juice, I much prefer the stuff from concentrate (pulp is evil and I WON'T HEAR OTHERWISE). Now onto the food... which... I LOVED! I had one of the many MANY benedicts on the menu (btw the menu has a lot of options so if you're bad at making decisions, like me, you will need TIME). I had the CV - which includes chicken, bacon, avocado AND goat cheese. So much going on... to which I had them add their sriracha hollandaise. That all goes perrrrfectly with a side of cheesy potatoes (ugh now I want potatoes). Can't lie... It was pretty delicious. Ok but WAIT... there's more. I wanted to try something else... breakfast poutine? stuffed pastry shell? Both good options but NO... instead I went for something sweet. The Tsoureki french toast. As an Armenian I have to call this Choreg... but Tsoureky works I GUESS. Anyway... this thing comes out looking all plane jane... but then... I tried it (with syrup, obviously - bc CANADA) and let me tell you there was something so good about the simplicity of the flavors and textures that I couldn't get enough of. So delicious... light, yet still very filling. I was perplexed... my mind was BOGGLED... but I kept eating bc literally i'm always perplexed and if it ever stopped me from eating i'd be dead from starvation already. Anyway... to make a long story longer I judged this place too soon when walking in. It's got a great staff and some really stellar food. No regrets here! Highly recommend. Stay Cheerful ;)
