I was traveling with my brother who had been to the city before, and recommended Le Vieux Vélo for a late breakfast since he had tried it before and had a good meal. That being said, we hit the ground running and made our way over. LVV is primarily a breakfast spot; while they have a decent selection of items, they specialize in Benedicts and have several varieties to choose from. The dining area is split into two areas with subtle yet tastefully done decor. It can get a little tight, but it wasn't busy when we were there so space was not an issue. I normally don't gravitate towards Benedicts, but I couldn't resist since I was here. Even though the different flavor combos looked tempting, I went basic and chose the classic. I was, however, given my choice of meat so I chose ham. The benny was good - everything tasted fresh and the hollandaise wasn't too rich which is generally a concern of mine. Roasted potatoes and some greens were served on the side which complemented the eggs well. Service was good, we were taken care of promptly and everyone was friendly. Overall, I had a good experience at Le Vieux Vélo - it was a great start to my time in Montreal and I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Potatoes were gooey inside and crispy on outside. The sourdough bread was nicely toasted with right amount of butter. The eggs were a bit of the letdown, I asked for easy over and got them harder over. Still, a very tasty breakfast. I attached the menu to reflect the latest prices.

We ordered "Rolande vend sa roulotte" (the last one on the gluten-free menu) and it was packed with fresh veggies, guacamole, bacon, poached eggs, and served with a fruit bowl -- so flavorful and filling. Everything came out fresh, beautifully presented, and the portions were generous.

A bit weird that the gentleman assigned us the booth without asking especially when there's patio seating available too. We ordered a coffee, Tropical Storm smoothie, a European omelette and a Raisin Bread French Toast. Coffee was fine. Didn't like the smoothie that much - barely any trace of mango or pineapple. Omelette and French Toast were good. Not a fan of whole olives in the omelette. The service was bare minimum. Even with less rush, the server never came for a refill - we had to call her for that. They probably need to increase the hygiene as well. One of the big red flags for us with those teeny-tiny flies (fruit flies?) flying around. Overall, while the main food was good, everything around it needed improvement. Plenty of parking around as it is a shared parking with rest of the businesses in the plaza.

You can visit the beautiful house he lived in - it's still standing! Service: No complaints here - we got there around Noon and didn't have to wait for a table. Our wait staff was quick and friendly. Food: The first thing I'm going to praise is the potatoes. Hot damn, they're good. There's nothing particularly complex about them - but they offer up the exact level of flavor I'm looking for in the morning. Yumm-O. I ordered a veggie omelet, which came with the infamous patates, fresh fruit, toast and coffee. They delivered up a sizable portion that I had difficulty finishing; in fact, it kept me satisfied until around 7pm when I realized I should probably get myself some dinner. Overall, the food is very good - they menu us quite varied and you can order up a basic breakfast, some healthier options, some waffles - take your pick. This isn't a gourmet restaurant so don't expect anything fancy. They serve breakfast the way it's meant to be served. The coffee is so/so. Price: Very, very reasonable. You can eat fur under $10 if you get the early bird special (not sure they offer this on weekends). My breakfast cost me $13 tax in, and I had ordered a side of sausage to go with it. Stuff: The restaurant itself is very clean and bright (I love me some natural light), and tables aren't stacked on top of each other so you don't have to get to know your neighbour while you eat!
