If you have a sweet tooth and find yourself in Berkeley, U Dessert Story is an absolute must-visit…read more From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is cozy, inviting, and perfect for catching up with friends or ending the night with something special. The desserts are not only beautifully presented but incredibly delicious. Every bite tastes fresh, creative, and thoughtfully made. The Mango Sticky Rice Bingsoo was a standout--light, refreshing, and packed with flavor. The portions are generous and perfect for sharing, and the variety on the menu means there's something for everyone. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better with their great service. U Dessert Story turns dessert into an experience. If you're looking for a place that delivers on taste, presentation, and atmosphere, this spot deserves five stars. I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!

We used to visit their other location in the city, but we've been coming to this location more…read moreoften lately because we feel more comfortable in this area. Overall, it's been a good experience every time. Parking can be challenging depending on the time of day. Most of the parking is on the street, so you'll need to keep an eye out for pedestrians and bicyclists while looking for a spot. That's probably the biggest inconvenience of visiting this place. There is usually a 15 to 20-minute wait whenever we come for dessert, but we've always been seated within the quoted wait time, which we appreciate. The restaurant itself is fairly small, so the dining area can feel crowded. Tables are very close together, and you're practically sitting back-to-back with other guests. Because of this, the noise level can get pretty high, and it's easy to overhear conversations from nearby tables. The desserts are the highlight here. The BingSu is excellent, and the lava cake is one of our favorites. The menu is accessed through a QR code, making ordering simple and convenient. Food portions are decent, although prices are definitely on the premium side. Service is efficient, and the food and desserts usually arrive pretty quickly. We used to go to their city location regularly, but over the years we've found ourselves visiting this location more often because the area feels more comfortable and convenient for us. That has made this our go-to spot whenever we're craving dessert. Overall, this is a great place for dessert. The quality of the desserts keeps us coming back, but the difficult parking situation and cramped seating prevent it from being a full 5-star experience. Would definitely return for the BingSu and lava cake.

Looking at how delicious they were, I asked where they got this from. They pointed me to the corner and I went in with my niece. The space is rather small, but you don't really need to sit in the store to enjoy the amazing food. They have curated list of items or you can build your own. My niece wanted specific colors, so we opted for build your own style. We got mango ice cream at the bottom with strawberry and cotton candy syrup, topped with mochi and condensed milk. The shaved ice itself was finely grounded and easy to scoop. I didn't have any chunks of ice that made eating this unbearable. The syrups were delicious and sweet and worked well together. The condensed milk tied it all together and the mochi added a nice texture touch. The mango ice cream was also delicious. Overall, a very reasonably priced dessert. I look forward to coming back again.

I started shopping for a sno cone machine rental yesterday afternoon, when I thought about hiring a food truck with cold desserts. I called Lisa last minute (last evening) to see if there was even a chance she could come today. She was able to squeeze us in between two other events. She showed up as committed, right at noon, and was ready to serve up ice within a minute of parking. The team loved the child-like opportunity to dispense and mix their own syrups. I loved that there were sugar-free options. The cups are large servings, the syrups are flavorful without being overly sweet, and the truck is festive in how it's wrapped. It's a whole vibe. Even though Lisa had to get to another appointment, she didn't rush, and was attentive to each person. She kept me abreast of how many cups we had left, so we could make sure to get to everyone. The whole experience was reasonably priced for the experience. We would have paid at least half of what we spent to rent a machine, and then had to buy ice and bottles of syrup if we wanted much variety. And we would have been spending our time serving sno cones rather than enjoying the experience. Having Kona Ice come was well worth the price paid. Paying was also easy, as she takes Apple Pay, Venmo, etc. Thanks, Lisa, for making this surprise possible! We'll see you again, for sure!

Since it was a rare warm day in SF, I suggested coming here after having lunch nearby. We arrived shortly before 2:00pm and it wasn't too crowded. However, the cashier/dessert artist let me know that they were out of some syrups & toppings. We decided to order the Strawberry Cheesecake Signature Kakigori ($12.00) to share. +It's so pretty! We (and everyone else there) oohed and ahhed and took a bunch of pictures of their creations. +Considering there's so many elements it was surprisingly not too sweet! +Vanilla gelato was milky and velvety, with visible flecks of vanilla bean. +Cotton candy crown was fluffy and dusted w/strawberry powder. +Cheesecake pieces were creamy and tangy. +The spoons changed from yellow to green as they touched the kakigori. Such a fun touch! -Normally this has Strawberry-Hibiscus Syrup drizzled onto the snow, but they ran out. The friendly cashier/dessert artist suggested California Berry, but I thought it was too sour. Side notes: 1.) 8% Service Charge added to purchases 2.) Located inside Café Sebastian and next to the Transamerica Redwood Forest and Tower 3.) Restroom available for customers *Verdict: 4.5 stars rounded up to 5 d/t service All the staff were friendly, and the owner even provided us with napkins. I definitely want to return to try more of their creations!

Made it easy and chose from the Signature Formulas. Kiddo ordered the Zen Matcha. He must've liked it as he wouldn't let us try it. Hubs and I shared the OG. Quite honestly, it was just ok. Pistachio gelato topped with cherry lychee shave ice and yuzu whipped cream. To me, seemed like it was mainly gelato and nothing in particular stood out. Maybe should've tried the strawberry cheesecake which the reviews talk more about. Meh.

Tried this spot because of the good reviews. But if you have been to Hawaii, I can't recommend this…read morespot because the flavors did not remind me of Hawaii at all. Also, nothing is served with mac salad... The prices are pretty decent for SF. Maybe that's why this place is popular. They are takeout only and have one bench outside for you to eat at if it's free. Tried the garlic shrimp, the moco loco (idk why they swap the words), and the furikake chicken. Also had a spam musubi (when I ordered online for pick up, I couldn't add egg which is usually an option according to the Toast website). The garlic shrimp was missing a flavor that Hawaii has in their garlic shrimp. The color was very red but it was not spicy. They do have an option to make it spicy though. It was bland to me compared to what I'm used to when I visit Hawaii. The moco loco gravy was good, but the beef patty tasted dry and overcooked. They did have a runny egg too but it was oddly underneath the patties, so we broke the eggs while trying to split the beef amongst 3 people. The furikake chicken is probably better if you eat it right away since it's lightly breaded. We took it home so by the time we ate it, it was soggy. The sauce it is cooked in is a little sweet and wasn't too bad. The soggy chicken ruined the texture for me though. Each dish was served with a little bit of cabbage which I liked to get a little greens in the meals. The spam musubi didn't taste like it had any sauce, and they used so much furikake underneath the spam, that it made it taste fishy. Would not recommend. I can't comment on the service much since I ordered online for pickup. The guy who handed me my food after asking my name was nice and polite though. The only reason I'd come back is to try to the shave ice. The group in front of me got 3 for their kids, and it looked tasty. I would not come back for the food, but at least the prices aren't bad for SF standards.
