Conveniently located next to the hotsy totsy this taco truck has won awards and they deserved even more flowers. The ambience it's pretty welcoming as you can see the nice ladies helping those that have questions and also welcome back regular customers. They accept cash and card. I was surprised there was no line as my friend mentioned there can be a line and the price of the taco. I ordered 3 tacos- carne asada, carnitas and language from the lady. She asked if I wanted everything on it so I said yes. She also asked if I was paying cash or card. Guess it would cost more with card. Tacos came out fast on a paper plate. The lady asked if I wanted salsa, I said yes. She gave me what I think is a salsa verde. I had taken the tacos to go eat at home. I noticed that the tacos came with a lemon instead of a lime. The tacos all had onions, parsley and maybe some salsa on top. The radishes were dry. The lengua seemed to have the most flavor than the other two. The carnitas had a couple dry pieces of meat but with some added salsa it was better. The carne asada was fine, could have a little more flavor. This taco truck will not break your wallet.

It's taken me a minute to get here and was pleasantly suprised. It's essentials a lot with some parking ample space to sit and eat and there is another food stall as well as the Momo food truck, which only serves momo. If you want to try other Nepali dishes go over to the food stand his brother runs. I ordered my C- Chicken Momo, which is made fresh because they give you a little vibrating tag which lets you know when it is ready. I also got some buff (as in water buffalo) skewura (skewers) I had my pupster with me, so it's a dog friend place cuz it's outdoor seating, so I took it home. Oh my the c- momos was so good (they ask you spice level) I took mine to Nepali medium, the buff skewurs were so good and served on puffed rice with slices of cumber and a hot sauce. I definitely will be back, because they have a Newari dish called Barra, which I will be getting. The Nepali people are very nice as well. So if you have spent time in Nepal and missing the food, try this place.

Located next to the Peppermint Tree Plaza, MOMOlicious offers authentic Nepali bites in casual fashion. I appreciated the menu explaining what a mo mo is, the type of fillings offered, and different mo mo menu options. We ordered the Ultimate Jhol Mo:mo (steamed momo) served in a classic soup made from sesame seeds, tomato, cilantro, and soybean. We chose chicken. We also ordered the Nepali Chowmein with chicken as well. Loved the unique flavors, the textures, and exploration of this culinary cuisine. The owner came over and chatted with us about the menu and future of the space. Earlier in the day they brought mini ponies for the kiddos to ride! Very much looking forward to bringing our friends back here as the weather is getting better for corn hole and outdoor entertainment. Also looking forward to exploring more of the menu, meats, and other mo mo options (maybe the crispy version next time) and mango lassi. You can really feel the love made in the food here and excitement for what's to come ~ congratulations on your new opening in EC!

I have tried probably easily north of 75 restaurants, booths and trucks in search of a good carnitas taco. Tacos El Grullense makes carnitas the right way. The carnitas are deep fried but not dried out. I think the pork might have Coca Cola and/or some citrus in the marinate. The carnitas taco meat was tender with a little crispness to outside of the carnitas, tender, excellent flavor on a tortilla slightly dipped in oil and heated hot, served only with onions and cilantro. The taco did not need salsa which to me is the perfect taco, the salsa is a bonus. If I am anywhere near the area, I will be having the carnitas tacos for lunch or dinner. I hope they don't ever change how they make the carnitas or tacos.

On Friday we decided to give it a try. Honestly we both were hoping to order the Chicken Fried Rice but unfortunately they were completely sold out. So we opted for the Cajun Chicken tenders and fries as well as the Mango Habanero chicken wings and fries. It took about 25 minutes for our order to be completed. We were extremely pressed for time so we literally grabbed our food and left. In hindsight the time was extremely reasonable as that's how long it takes for your food to be prepared. In other words our food was made to order and not previously prepared. Let me just say the Mango Habanero wings were delicious! They were generously sauced with the right about of crispness. I found them to be flavorful and abundant. My order came with about 10 wings, fries and sauce. The sauces did not come with a lid, I was t too thrilled about that. As for the tenders, they were large, well seasoned with a dry rub, crispy and juicy. It's two days later and I am STILL thinking about my food which is a great sign. If you're in a rush, it will take a while for your food to be prepared and because the food is excellent know you will have to stand in quite a line. I would highly recommend if you enjoy chicken as there are several options to choose from. I most definitely will be returning!

Additionally, it's right in front of a noisy tire repair shop, so plan to take this food to go. With that said, the food was great! The chicken was juicy and flavorful, and they have plenty of sauce options. The fries were pretty basic, but nothing too special. My biggest complaint was the speed of the service. It took about 20+ minutes for our order to be ready, and we were the only customers the whole time we were there. The chicken was fresh, but it was far too hot to eat and I actually found that it tasted much better after sitting out for 20-30 minutes. Not sure how they can improve this, but that's how I felt.

The food rules at Tacos El Rulas! Located in the parking lot of two separate businesses, an auto…read moreshop and smog shop on the corner of Gilman Street and San Pablo Avenue near the border of Albany and Berkeley, California, Tacos El Rulas is a Mexican food truck from father and daughter duo of Angeles and Raul Rodriguez that specializes in traditional Mexican takeout dishes sold at affordable price points along with some modern takes on a number of dishes from Birria tacos to Hawaiian-style Mexican sandwiches. After starting over four years ago parking at locations in Richmond, Tacos El Rulas really hit its stride when they moved to their current location in late 2020 across the street from Tokyo Fish Market and a Dollar Tree. It is here that Tacos El Rulas received additional buzz thanks to an article praising the Rodriguez's bringing authentic cuisine to this neighborhood in Northwest Berkeley. This is why I have wanted to come here for quite some time as the article had me intrigued and their location was so easily accessible from a quick drive from the Gilman Street exit off of Interstate 80 on the weekday afternoon that I decided to get lunch for myself and others back home. Thankfully there was a metered parking space in front of their truck that I managed to snag so I quickly perused their menu and ordered as by the time I arrived no customers were present but by the time I left there were plenty of customers waiting for their orders. The menu at Tacos El Rulas is broken up into categories including their Soft Tacos with various options for fillings, Classics, Sandwiches, Handmade Fare and Beverages & Snacks. The first menu item I decided to order was their Burrito from the Classics section of their menu, with my choice of a Carne Asada filling, rice, beans, onion, cilantro, hot sauce wrapped in a flour tortilla. I also decided to order a La Torta from their Sandwiches section of their menu, with my choice of Carnitas, which is slow cooked pork, lettuce, tomato, onion, avocado, melted cheese, queso fresco, mayonnaise, and pickled jalapenos served on a toasted white bun. And since I was here and decided to make my journey here well worth my time with multiple meals, I decided to order a Mulita from their Handmade Fare section of their menu, which was a taco sandwich with two handmade corn masa tortillas with cheese and my choice of Pastor pork filling, which is spit-roasted adobo pork and pineapple. I really wanted to order a Horchata drink from their Beverage menu but owner Raul who took my order let me know that they were out of that drink and none of their bottled and canned drinks that were on ice in front of their truck didn't intrigue me. All told my meal cost 26 dollars before tip, which wasn't too bad of a price point considering how much food I received this afternoon. It took about ten minutes for my food to be freshly prepared from both of the Rodriguez's, and I was certainly surprised how large my burrito and sandwich were in size. When I got home with my meal, I decided to feast on my Mulita first and it was a tasty if somewhat unremarkable treat, but it was also filling lunchtime meal. I decided to save my burrito and sandwich for lunch on successive future days and was not disappointed as they were both easily sharable and filled with plenty of savory ingredients that makes me love freshly prepared Mexican cuisine. Perhaps the real surprise was my La Torta as I wasn't expecting anything quite that large and for the cost of 11 dollars is a real steal. With the times we are living in, prices have gone up one dollar for a number of dishes at Tacos El Rulas, including my burrito and sandwich. But now I can't wait to come back and try their signature tacos, especially their Birria Taco, their Cubano Sandwich which adds ham, chorizo and Milanese breaded steak to their signature Torta, and their Huaraches which is an oval handmade grilled corn masa base topped with a filling of my choice and all of their fresh fixings including a cactus salad. Talk about authentic! And at Tacos El Rulas you're getting all of that plus so much more. Here's to hoping their reign on this nondescript corner of Berkeley is a long and fruitful one for Tacos El Rulas, with the quality and quantity of their dishes, they have met the hype and then some in my humble opinion!

A public, free, and regular occurring event that brings you the finest selection of California Mobile Food Vendors to local venues close to home. Dont worry either, its perfectly safe to bring the whole family, if the weather is favorable then you can even expect to find tables and chairs but in any case a diverse array of vendors that make grabbing a bite to eat exciting, fast, and cost effective. I think the problem is that I couldn't get past the lack of a restroom in the area. They had some portables, but they are making food and we are supposed to eat it. Where are they washing their hands? This area is also pretty cold so if you go, make sure that you have a coat, scarf and hat. I'll never make that mistake again. But because of the cold, I didn't want to eat outside so our food got a cold, but it was good. My husband liked the food he got, but gluten free options are super limited. They get a third star because of the bar! Now there was only one person working there and that's fine because he could go get a snack or something and come back to pour drinks, but again. The restroom issue. Where does he wash his hands, what if he has a cold and sneezes into them, and so on. That's where my mind went. The vendors are quite nice and were helpful and weren't mean when they answered my GF questions and I appreciate that. So, this is like the little engine that could. I can see that it is a gathering spot for people and they have music and speakers which is cool. So I saw and felt a community vibe and people really seemed to like going. If I lived in the area, I may try it a bit more, but in all honestly, Oakland Museum's Off the Grid event is everything I wish this was. I'm sure that they will get there, but don't want to hang out while they figure it out.
