I have been buying used cars from Alan since I was 16 never had a bad experience very straight forward

Starting off me and my brother searching for a car for him. We found a car 3 hours away listed for a great price. We made a plan to go see the car over the weekend and visit family. The next day we looked and the price had gone up $1000. We called Altech they said it was a sale for the weekend. He said we could pay him $500.00 to hold the car as a down payment. We tell him we haven't even seen the car yet we can't put a deposit down. I argue with him telling him that's not fair and ask to speak to the general manger and he tells me that he won't be available for a week and actually he is a manager. I tell him this seems unfair and hang up. I send him an email telling him how sad it makes me and that I feel they can't be trusted. My brother still wants to go look at the car in hopes they will take the check when we get there. They refused to take the lower price and wanted him to put $1000 from his debit card. They have him a $200 discount for his birthday- so annoying!! I am steaming at this point. I say this is not fair why can't they honor the price. He said it's like buying clothes at old navy when there is a sale- I told him those sales have a end date and time. This car was not listed as being on sale and I had called about the lower price and they never even told me it was on sale. They simply said they don't haggle. I told the man I feel that situation feels wrong. The man said it's like gambling and "you lost"! My brother ended up paying the extra money. I told the man if it was me I would not buy the car and he said " HE WAS GLAD THAT IT WASNT ME BUYING THE CAR". Every time I look at this car I am gonna think of that car dealership getting over on my brother:( so wrong!!!!so sad!!! So disappointed in people!!! Long sighs!! This process should be fun- we are at lunch after buying the car and I'm upset and wanting to cry read more

My fiancé and I were car shopping and came upon a listing for a car altech had. We went to the dealership which was very clean and very organized and they were very friendly. The car was immaculate along with all of the records. The transaction was very easy and we are incredibly happy with the vehicle and with altech. We highly Recommend them. read more

Came here to buy a 2007 IS for my wife, and could not be more pleased. They were honest and upfront about any minor damages- the back right passenger door had a old hinge issue when the door was opened that we were able to resolve and fix. The finance manager was able to get us processed very quickly, I was extremely worried that we would not get approved because of my wife's credit but it ended up not being a problem at all. I highly recommend this place looking for a steal price on a older vehicle. Sales experience: 9/10 Finance Approval: 10/10 Delivery: 10/10 (Test drive, processing, and payment all took only 2 hours) read more

I was concerned about this dealership after I checked out the bbb. I am from Ohio and found a car that Altech had listed for thousands less than similar vehicles in the country. Mark called me and gave me a great price over the phone, and said the car was in great condition. After thinking about it, I put down a deposit. The I got a little nervous so I googled Altech and read some comments and saw the bbb report. I called Mark and he reassured me that all was well, and that I could get my money back if I didn't approve of the cars condition "just come look at the car and you will see how nice it is" he said. So the next day my wife and I drove from Ohio to Virginia to look at the Outlook, we were very pleased with the condition of the car. I am very happy with the purchase of our '08 Saturn Outlook. Let me start by stating the good points about the dealership: - Friendly people. - Good customer service - Very helpful when it comes to financing. The bad points: - We bought a 2007 Honda Odyssey and the van had a clicking noise coming from, what seemed to be, the front axles. Our mechanic later quoted us over $500 for this repair, which turned out to actually be both axels. - The right sliding door was making a rough noise, which we found later that they had applied grease (it was fresh) to the rollers to try to mask the issue. Now the door acts up, and we have to try closing it like 5 or 6 times before it will. - No floor mats in the first and second rows. - No key fobs and just one after market replacement key. - The car did pass Virginia inspection, but they denied to take any responsibility if it did not pass Maryland inspection, which it did not. This was new to us since two other dealers we dealt with in the past did take responsibility and helped us with the vehicles. We had to replace the front control arms to pass the inspection, which cost us almost $800. So, Maryland buyers beware! - Tires have good tread, but are obvious inferior in quality - quite noticeable when driving especially going over an bumps or driving in the rain. - They did not even bother changing the oil even though it was quite over due - over 7 months since the last oil change. - The rear view mirror is not original, but does look new. It seems to be a poor quality mirror, though, since it actually hurts our eyes to use. The story - When we first saw the van, there was a slight noise that sounded like it was from one of the belts, so they took it into their shop to check it out. We were told we can test drive it once that is fixed, so we went inside to discuss financing options. This took quite sometime, but once it was settled, the van was ready for us to test drive. During the test drive we found a clicking noise coming from the van, and at first they refused to acknowledge that there was even a noise. Then the owner went on a second test drive to check it out himself and said "I can't hear anything". After driving some more and with some insistence on our part, he finally said, "it's only there sometimes and if there's anything wrong with the car, it should come all the time". When we insisted that there's something definetly wrong, he started becoming rude and confrontational and said "you've been here all day! I've sold two cars in that time!" For one, that's no the way to treat customers, and two, we didn't want to sit there all day! The van was being checked and worked on by them and financing took them forever - even creating a situation for us having to coordinate additional childcare. This was not something we complained about yet he had the nerve to say this to us. In the end they said it's up to us if we want to buy the van as-is or leave. They did add that they would help with any problems that may come up with the vehicle by giving us a "good price" if we use their mechanic (which we will never do after all this). Bottom line, we bought the van since it had a good service history, it seemed solid regardless of these then-noticable issues, and we were simply exhausted and still needed to pickup our child. Now, just to get the car on the road, we have spent around $800.00 (MD inspection, front control arms, and a reinspection). We've also received a quote of around $400 for a spare key and two fobs, so that along with floor mats, an oil change, a rear view mirror, and to fix the sliding door will be around $1,300. Conclusion - Getting a car from a dealership and paying the $500.00 dealership fee should provide you the assurance that the car is sound and will pass inspection - and at least have an oil change and floor mats! Not here. read more

Really nice selection of cars and friendly staff. I went to look at a 435i they had in a rare blue color but they didn't offer me any financing options. The sales person said I had to call my own bank for an auto loan before I could even look at it. I think they should let you see the cars first before you go inquire about financing. I ended up at another dealer that just showed the cars and made the buying experience a lot easier. read more

Sold me a car saying that it runs well. Told them how my last car had overheating issues and they told me nothing was wrong with the car. The day I picked the car up it overheated 2min after driving it off the lot, also the 4wd/dsc cuts off randomly while driving and had to buy a new battery. Also there are oil leaks from gaskets in the engine bay, I shouldn't have bought the vehicle but with 55k miles and the price they were asking I figured it was a good deal. read more

I called to talk to a manager and "Babar" said he is one of them. Wanted to purchase their BMW X6 M. I wanted to make a very reasonable offer but before even he hear my offer, (just wanted $488 off on a 111512 miles car!, vehicle priced at $24488) he shut me off saying "We dont take offers". Wow seriously? Keep your cars man! They look awesome on your lot. Best of luck. read more

This experience was well worth the long drive from Hyattsville. I was more than pleased with the attention given me by Shini and to the level of detail the staff pays to each car. I bought a 2007 MB and it was cared for, impeccably, by both the first owner and by the folks at Altech. Shini - when I have the opportunity to speak with you, I'll explain the single reason I did not post this with 5 stars. We're planning on replacing another of our cars at the start of the new year; and, Altech will be one of the first places we search. Thanks Altech. Thanks Shini. read more

My experience buying a 2007 Durango from Altech was fantastic start to finish. I was traveling from far out of town so it was critical that the vehicle was exactly as advertised. My contact at Altech, Essie was professional and courteous right from the start. By the time I traveled I knew every detail about the vehicle and we had negotiated a fair price to the penny. Essie went way above and beyond, even picking me up from the train station. The staff at Altech allowed me as much time as I needed to inspect the vehicle even offering to put it on the lift. Rest assured Altec's inventory is as advertised and they have nothing to hide. My purchase was made 7/31/2015. read more

(5 months later) -1 star Not because of the service with Altech, but because of the warranty previously mentioned that came with the car. Diamond warranty is terrible. They use every trick in the book to avoid paying for repairs: -Only open during weekdays during business hours (can't get your car fixed on the weekend) -They pay bargain basement rates to the repair shops. -They only allow after market repair parts -They force the repair shops to jump through ridiculous hoops to get paid as far as paperwork goes. -$100 deductible, which discourages smaller repairs Altechs service is fine, BUT give customers a better quality warranty. Used cars 9x out of 10 have some issue that pops up within a year. It would be nice to have a reliable warranty that doesn't try to skip out on what they're being paid to do. read more

On April 7th I test drove the 2006 Toyota hybrid highlander. An altech car employee, Fred, rode with me as I went to have a prepurchase inspection done. My mechanic found that I needed two new front tires and that the air conditioner was not properly functioning and needed to be fixed. I put down my deposit under the conditions that both of these tasks would be fulfilled by the following day. I received a call on wed April 8 that the tires had been replaced, however they were still awaiting the part to repair the air conditioner. The stated that they would call me upon completion. I received a call on Friday April 10 that the car was ready. I was unable to come that evening so I planned to go the following afternoon. I drove the highlander that following day Saturday April 11th and the loud noise from the air conditioner was gone. The air seemed cool but it was also quite cool outside that day. April 13th I called altech cars because it was a hot day and all that was blowing out of the car was hot air. Alan stated that he would take care of the air conditioner problem. I brought the vehicle back per Alan's time request. waited for 2 hours for diagnostic. He said that they had to order another part because the first one they ordered was defective and it would be early that following week. It was not until the end of the following week, Alan asked me to bring the truck in on Tuesday morning. And that he would supply a rental car. I arrived Tuesday morning April 28th, and they gave me one of their for purchase vehicles to use until mine was repaired. This one too had no functional air conditioner. I left and was told I would be contacted when it was complete. Most likely a week. I called Thursday April 30 and was told that they had to order another part and would call me. Monday may 4, I called for the status and was told my truck had been taken to A toyota dealership in chantilly. And that they would call me when they had an update. I wanted a better answer so I googled dealerships in chantilly and Ourisman came up. I called and they informed me that my vin number came up in their computer but had no information. I called altech cars and spoke to Fred and he proceeded to tell me what they were diagnosing and that there were two things that they felt were wrong but they were waiting on a part so they could continue to diagnose the less expensive way. He also gave me the service managers name and told me that i could contact him if I wanted clarification. None of that information really gave me a time guideline and so I proceeded to contact ourisman. Paul at ourisman sent the following email:paulpoirier@ourismanva.com On 07.05.2015 14:05, Lelah Delgado wrote: Hi Paul, My name is Lelah Delgado. I was told that altech cars brought my 2006 Toyota hybrid highlander to your location because they were unable to repair my air conditioner issue. I was trying to find out the status of this vehicle. Please email me back at your earliest convenience . I left a voicemail for you as well. Thank you. Lelah Delgado 5712216695 Lelah, Your vehicle either needs to have the A/C amplifier replaced or the ECU ( computer / control unit ). There is no cost effective way to test either of these components as they are sealed units unable to be accessed internally to test circuit boards, etc.The tests to determine the root cause of failure ( which took about 3-1/2 hours of testing wiring circuits) has let to either one of these components. The cheaper of the two units ( which we suggest trying first ) is replacement of the A/C amplifier at a cost of $1199.65. If this does not correct the issue, then the vehicle will need the ECU at an additional cost of $1521.83 Currently repairs are in a holding pattern until either parties ( the vehicle owner or seller ) decide on a course of action. Unfortunately we cannot install a new amplifier and return it if it does not fix the problem as electrical components are not refundable once the box has been opened. The best hope is get lucky and have another identical model show up and swap amplifiers as a test. We have not had any luck yet. P.S. those costs for the repairs did not include the 3.5 hours of trouble shooting that the tech has to be paid for in order to determine the current information. Paul My mechanic, Amer, called to speak to Alan, the owner, and he got extremely defensive and hung up on my mechanic. I called today to hear for myself the situation and Alan point blank told me "if you contact the Toyota dealership, I will bring your truck back and you can come pick it up and fix it yourself. You have no need to call them". He then also told me that I had two options: a) to come back pick up my truck and retune his and resolve the air conditioning issue on my own or b) let them continue to diagnose the issue. However, with that response still come no resolve except the wait. I just want to resolve the issue read more

These people knowingly sold me a lemon. They committed to fix a few things for me during the sale and then pretended like that never happened when I went back in. Within a week, the exhaust pipe under the length of the car came loose. The mechanic that fixed it said it was completely rotted through and that there's no way this dealership didn't know it'd be an immediate problem. The people I bought the car from played ignorant and ASKED ME TO LEAVE one week after buying a car from them.... Since purchasing, I have had to put in more work than what I paid for the car. DO NOT GO HERE FOR YOUR CAR. THEY ARE MALICIOUS, CONNIVING, RUDE, AND CHEAP PEOPLE. THEY ARE THE EMBODIMENT OF SLEEZY CAR SALESMEN. read more

THE WORST CAR DEALERSHIP EVER! Do not buy here. Check ratings on google search. They screwed me and many others over. The sales staff here is 'shady' at best. They lie through their teeth about everything. I purchased a car here and it needs over $6,000.00 in repairs. They told me it was perfect condition. Do NOT buy a car here!!!! read more

Dishonest and rude. Not a good place to purchase a vehicle. Other Dealership has better prices and friendlier service.

Me and my business partner went into the dealership to make a cash deal on a work vehicle that was for sale at a decent price. We wanted to make a out the door deal for near asking price. There's no professionalism involved in dealing with them. Long story short I wanted to walk my partner wanted the van. Got it off the lot didn't put but maybe 10 miles on it the check engine light cut on for a O2 sensor and the radio doesn't work. Please beware. If you insist on buying a car from there get a pre purchase inspection PLEASE! read more

I had a terrible experience with this dealership after going back there for a service. The general manager Alan is unprofessional, does not provide customer service and I feel like he does not want to help..I am not sure if he treats everybody the same way... Dealership is very rude not to mention they don't let you take the vehicle to the dealership, please don't buy from them they should not be in Business. I only gave them one star because they wouldn't let me select zero stars. read more

They sold me an 07 subaru outback for 10k plus a 1k warranty. This was march of 2015. The car has since needed a head gasket replacement and then a new engine. The warrenty service is slow and hard to deal with, and won't cover even half the costs of repairs. This car was a lemon and the warranty service was garbage. I recently purchased a 2011 Honda Odyssey from Altech Cars. The people I met there, Shini and Babar, were very friendly. I came in with a definite car in mind, and didn't feel pressured to switch, nor was I upsold on extended warranties or other B.S. The car I bought wasn't perfect, but the price was within my range of fair, and they were willing to fix something before I picked it up. My only criticisms were, I had to take the car to get an inspection (and pay for it) as a condition of getting the car registered and them getting me license plates. I thought this was something they should've done before I picked the car up, especially since the testing places was on their street, about a block away. Also, it seemed to take a while to get my license plates, which I had to pick up in person. It would've been much more convenient for them to send them to me instead of me taking another day off from work to pick them up. read more

Amazing! We were probably no ideal customers. We were buying a fairly inexpensive used car and we still needed financing. They worked with us, found us just the financing we needed and got us a minivan at a price better than any other place we could find. Our salesman, Zack, went above and beyond. I would definitely comeback read more

So I bought a 1 year old Honda advertised as still under Warranty, brand new, never been in an accident from them, and about a week and a half into driving the car, it starts overheating and stalling in traffic. So I take the car to Honda to get it looked at (because is was still under a guaranteed warranty) and they told me the car had been TOTALED AND REBUILT. Honda showed me where the radiator and condenser had been mashed up and must have been in a BIG accident. The entire front end had been cosmetically rebuilt with cheap aftermarket parts (hood fenders, doors, bumpers, the works) and sold at new price. I had asked the dealership the previous history of the car and was shown a clean carfax and been told the car had never seen any damage. I called the dealership to try and work something out, and they started avoiding my phone calls, never calling me back, then when I finally get ahold of them, they tell me its my fault, and basically said Im dumb for buying the car in the first place. DO NOT BUY!!! They lied to me about the history and now are making no effort to make it right. FRAUD read more
