My hair had gotten so tangled that it was matted, I had really long hair that was difficult to manage. They got me in for a consult the next day, showed genuine care and concern that made the awful situation seem less dire. I had not known that otherwise I would have rejected the appointment. My hair lifts easily, and Haley noted that. Despite that, she used too strong a developer and damaged my hair beyond belief. Not only that. She missed half of my head with toner. She noticed. And didn't tell me. She let me leave the salon with half of my head not toned. It's very noticeable from the back. I didn't see it at the appointment because she didn't show me the back - and now I know why. That's the worst of it, but she also didn't rinse my hair properly, so I still had product dried up and crusty in my hair. And she barely used any product while she blew out my hair on the highest heat, burning my scalp a couple of times and damaging my hair even more. And it was still a bit wet by the time I left. I'm usually pretty relaxed, so I didn't complain until after I went home and noticed that my head wasn't properly toned (which is also not that hard to do, I've done it myself during covid lockdowns - so it really is incredible that she messed up this bad and didn't say anything, hoping I wouldn't notice). Nothing about my experience with Haley was positive. Her work was incredibly sloppy, negligent, and dishonest. Edited to add (in response to Howie, the owner): You know the issue isn't with the toner itself - I did not see that she didn't do the back otherwise I obviously wouldn't have been "pleased". Again, you know this. I have a photo attached. You see how bad it is. I don't know why you're trying to act like that quality of service is okay. I didn't realize Red Chair's standards were so low, and I regret that I gave you all a shot :/ Also, I have to spend the holidays looking like this. So thanks for that.

It's been a while since I've written one of these for a haircut but this one was awesome. Andy helped me work out a plan for it and did a cut that gave my fine, very straight hair lots of movement, texture, and style even with my super low maintenance daily routine. It's been a week now since getting it cut, and sometimes when you do that first week (or even first wash) you have a moment where you're like "hey where'd all the cool haircut go, it's just mush again?" NOT SO. This one maintains great movement and texture even with just blow drying it the night before and tossing texturizer in it in the morning (which I got at a discount thanks to their welcome package). I also loved seeing all the different types of neighborhood people around--not just like fancy people getting their hair done but a really wide spectrum from older dudes to younger NB folx and femmes. I've been with Tara for nearly 3 years now, and I have never had a cut or color that I didn't love. I usually go in every 2-3 months and do something different each time. Whether she's matching my hair to an upcoming outfit or putting the beauty of turquoise and coral jewelry or a sunset onto my head, it's always a work of art. I didn't have a pleasant experience here. Jane was my stylist, and unfortunately, I was very…read moredisappointed with both the service and the overall experience. To begin with, my hair wash felt extremely rushed. She was done washing my hair in barely two minutes. I could see another stylist washing another client's hair nearby and taking the time to do it properly, but nothing of that sort happened with me. Their haircut service description clearly states, "Every haircut includes a consultation, blow dry and scalp massage." There was definitely no scalp massage for me, not even for a minute. Secondly, I found Jane's tone and body language quite snappy and rude. During the consultation, I initially told her I wanted the first layer of my face-framing cut to come down to my chin. Within the first five minutes of her starting my haircut, I mentioned can i actually have it little more shorter than chin. She told me yes that she could always go shorter later and that she was only doing a brief cut initially. When she started drying my hair, I reminded her again that I wanted it shorter, and she said she would do more cutting after drying. However, when she eventually said she was done, I pointed out that she still hadn't cut it shorter. She then snapped at me and said that I had told her I didn't want it short. At that point, I genuinely wondered if she had been even paying attention to any of the conversations we had after she started my haircut. I had also told her that it was my birthday and that I was getting my hair done for my birthday celebration that evening. I specifically asked if she could add curls at the back while styling it so that my hair would at least stay styled through the evening. Unfortunately, the styling was very poor. The curls didn't even last until I got home and were completely gone within an hour. I also realized afterward that my scalp was still oily, which made me feel that my hair hadn't been washed properly in the first place. By then, it was too late for me to wash and restyle my hair before my birthday party that night, which was extremely disappointing. I regret going there for my birthday. Another irritating part of the experience was her long nails repeatedly scratching my neck and face while she worked on my hair. She did apologised once but it still continued happening throughout the service. Overall, I was really disappointed, especially since I had specifically mentioned that this appointment was for my birthday. I definitely won't be returning to Jane, and based on my experience, I would not recommend her for hair styling services.
